"Damianos," Aedan warned "Only kill ones you know killed Mishka. I don't want to have to explain the deaths of an entire village to the other tribes. Only kill guilty people, okay? I would appreciate that, and I'm sure the innocents would too"
He knew Damianos was angry, but what he didn't need was a murderous rampage. It wouldn't be good. He had to try and get the other tribes to trust the Lykos, and this wouldn't help if he killed any innocents here - it would be a huge setback.

Damianos shuddered and looked at Aedan, his eyes the deep blood red of his father, indicating he was currently hyped on Demi-God power and anger. He nodded sharply and ran a little faster, bursting out of the forest and rushing immediately towards the village he could see, following the scents as closely as he possibly could. He would find them!! He sprinted straight into the village to the loud screams of the women and the panicked leaping-to-their-feet of the men, but ignored them all and focused on speed finding the scents that he was after.

"It is good," Aedan replied gently "She is very generous to me and she visits me often. Her favour certainly makes life a lot easier and she is very kind to me." Aedan didn't elaborate any further. There wasn't much more to say than he loved having her favour. She was so nice to him. Aedan shifted a little so the water covered his newest wounds, soothing the newly healed skin on his stomach from the fight when he got Sabina's favour. "She likes you." Alcuius said taking a soap bar from one of the girls and cleaned his hands better, "It's obvious Aedan and the way you look at her, we may not all talk like we care... well most only care to live one more day but many have seen what a roman favorite can become... and that's if they aren't killed by a third party." Then he quickly held up his hands, "Not that im saying that will happen to you! Just watch out for stuff okay?"

Please do not think badly of either the Votadini or the Lykos, we are simply giving a murderer what they deserve"

There are so many levels on which this simply couldn't work"

'Who would be stupid enough...' They looked severely uncomfortable. Damianos slid to a sudden halt in the centre, ears perked up straight and his gaze set on a roundhouse, slowly prowling towards it, and then silently inside. Somehow, his silence was more terrifying than his snarls. Moments later a horrific scream was heard from inside before it rapidly became choked and cut off, the crowd gasping and covering children's ears, or backing as far away as possible. A second voice- yelling with outrage, before it too cut off abruptly. Damianos left the roundhouse, muzzle soaked in blood. He bared long, red fangs at the villagers- a warning- and angrily swept past them all, tail lashing his flanks.

"This Lykos was a mother," Aedan continued "We now have the task of informing the poor woman's twelve-year-old children that she has been murdered. This is a warning to you all - if we find out about any further maltreatment of the Lykos, both the Votadini and the Lykos will take action against you. I wouldn't advise you go on any wolf-hunts anytime soon, if I were you"
Aedan left the muttering and rather shaken crowd to lead the way out of the village, stepping out into the woods.
Once he and Damianos were alone again, he asked him "You only killed the guilty ones, did you? I trust you, Damianos, but I really do just want to be sure we haven't committed any unnecessary murders or anything"
He was concerned, mainly, with maintaining relations between the tribes and between the Votadini and the Lykos. He had the difficult task of trying to keep positive relationships with everyone, despite the recent deaths.

I trust you, Damianos, but I really do just want to be sure we haven't committed any unnecessary murders or anything" He was concerned, mainly, with maintaining relations between the tribes and between the Votadini and the Lykos. He had the difficult task of trying to keep positive relationships with everyone, despite the recent deaths. He snorted and nodded his head, and looked at Aedan as if to say, 'you don't trust me?' Before he began to trot ahead, breaking into a run. When they passed where her body had been, it was clear the Lykos had already taken her away back to the village, and Damianos sped up a little in order to be there to calm them all down and offer comfort to the children. They would need a surrogate mother for the time being. He'd have to find one. Growling with annoyance he trotted into the village, joining the rowdy pack of Lykos who appeared to be fighting among themselves, jaws snapping and loud whining. He jumped into the fray and some semblance of calm washed through them, but they looked angry- they growled at Damianos and some even circled him, as though questioning his ability to defend them. 'You weren't here last night- you know she wanders, Damianos, how could you leave us like that?' 'And of the murderers? That had better be /their/ blood on your fangs, boy.' 'She has children, Damianos! We aren't responsible for feeding them!' Damianos snapped his fangs at those who defied him, snarling viciously, tail and hackles raised as he put his dominance over the pack. 'This is not my fault. Do not blame me for Mishka's mistake. I have told her multiple times to not wander-' 'And she never listened! You should have known better-' 'She was out here with all of you!' He roared, and the pack yelped and backed away from him, ears flattened against their heads and bodies low to the ground. Fangs still bared, he glared around at them. 'If anyone is to blame it is the pack for not noticing her absence. How was I to know if I was not here? Multiple times she's wandered in the past without our knowledge. You are angry, and I am angry, but we can do no more. I have killed the murderers. They have paid their penance.' The pack was unnaturally silent now, narrowing their eyes on him, some of them slinking away, satisfied with his answer and his strengthening of his leadership. 'I expect no more defiance from any of you.' He finished. 'You're all dismissed. Take her away from the village- ensure she has a proper funeral.' He stepped away, and the pack gathered up her body on their backs, silently leaving the village. Damianos began to pace, aware the celts were fearfully watching them- that must have been a terrifying sight to those who couldn't speak their language.

(Merry belated Christmas! Hope you enjoyed it!)
When they got back, it was Aedan's responsibility to calm down the panicking Celts, trying to explain exactly what had happened.
"They've gone mad! Those wolves are in a murderous rage, every last one of them!" one voice cried from the crowd
"No, they are not!" Aedan replied calmly but firmly "they are mourning the death of a pack member, and they are trying to assign blame, as any of us would do. Those who are truly to blame have been punished."
"Do you really trust those wolves, Chief?" asked a tribesman
"We have children here!" agreed a woman
"You are irresponsible to let such easily angered creatures near our children!" chimed in a third voice
"SILENCE!" Aedan cried over the cacophony of voices, and every single member of the tribe was stunned into silence "Enough! These are not creatures, they are people, and anyone who is heard to consider them otherwise will be punished. They too have children, they are just as vulnerable as us. More than that, they have proven themselves trustworthy. Their leader is a man who stood by me when I was being forced to fight for entertainment, when I was made into a joke just because I was a Celt. When I was beaten for trying to escape. By the gods, the man took the scars with me. I didn't see any of you people protecting me in that battle, when I was just eighteen. In fact, as I remember it, I was left to die. That's how the Romans found me. That Lykos has earned the trust I give him and the trust I give his people. None of you can say the same. I will hear no more of this hatred and mistrust - it shames me to hear it from people who call themselves accepting. Anyone unwilling to follow the rules I have set out or who is unwilling to have me as a chief is more than willing to leave and seek their living elsewhere."

Damianos silently stopped pacing and raised his great head to look over the celts, his ears perked to listen to what Aedan had to say. He felt the anger melt away from him at Aedan's moving words, and slowly he walked forwards to stand strong beside the other male, gently nuzzling his upper arm with his nose, before looking over the celts. He ran his tongue over the blood on his muzzle and fangs, then as swiftly as he'd appeared he left, head and tail low, his annoyance appearing to have returned as he went back to pacing. He didn't miss some of the glares a few of his pack were throwing his way, and he bared his teeth at them so they would leave him alone. He had ruled just fine up until now, and he still couldn't believe that they'd challenged his leadership. He released a vicious, angry bark and swung on his heels, tail lashing his flanks.

(Aww, I'm sorry things aren't going so well for you and your BF x) Aedan left his people to go and stand by Damianos, and turned to the Lykos. "I don't care whether you think I have the right to speak to you like this, but every single one of you should be more grateful to have a leader like Damianos. Everyone is equally to blame for Mishka's death, and you certainly shouldn't be blaming Damianos. And if you had seen his face when he found her, you would know he cared. He was overtake with grief and rage and it only ceased when he had punished those responsible for her death. So do not question his ability to lead and do not question his level of care for the tribe. He is a more than willing leader and he is more than capable. He is an excellent leader. So I don't care if you will let me speak for you."

The wolves sat in their unnerving silence and gazed at him with a mixture of equally cold amber and blue eyes. Damianos quietly looked at his partner and felt a surge of love for him, overwhelming affection blooming in his chest as the man defended his honour. He took a deep breath and allowed warmth to spread through his muscles, feeling out his wound. Content with what he discovered he transformed back, wincing slightly at the deep ache in the bone. He examined his leg carefully, noting the brand new scar that mangled his thigh. He grumpily examined it, then walked over to Aedan. 'Thankyou.' He murmured, looking over at his pack. 'theyre just angry.' He sighed. 'Once they have mourned im sure things will settle down.' He tiredly ran a hand through his curls. 'Atrius would know how to settle a situation like this,' he softly said, missing the old roman.

"I know he would," Aedan sighed, pulling Damianos closer to him "but we will have to learn how to deal with these things ourselves, won't we? We don't have an Atreus, but we do have each other. They just need time, anyway. Time to mourn, time to get used to each other and the way the two groups work. All it'll take is a little bit of time, that's all. Then it'll be okay"
He felt somewhat proud that he had handled the wolves on his own, even if they still hated him. At least they appeared to have forgotten about blaming Damianos for the murder. That had been his aim, and he had succeeded, without a doubt. It was so important to him that they didn't question Damianos and his leadership, because he knew how important the Lykos were to Damianos. It pained him to see they way that they did not appreciate Damianos and his loyalty and bravery, and his complete and utter devotion to the Lykos.

Damianos nodded and smiled, before gently placing his forehead to Aedan's and closing his eyes, taking comfort from the presence of the celt. To Damianos, it still felt like only yesterday he'd been dragged into his cell, roaring and fighting like a wild animal, who had been swiftly tamed by the gladiator in the cell across from him. He pulled back with a hesitant sigh, unwilling to separate from him. 'What's the plans for today then, Chief?' He asked, smiling at him.

"Just the usual," Aedan smiled "Trying to keep the peace and keep the tribe fed. But I was thinking you and I could perhaps go for a walk in the mountains - I know some very beautiful hills. It could be just the two of us or we could even take little Esca if you would like to do that."
It was something Aedan had been planning for a long time. He thought it would be nice to explore the landscape with Damianos and he thought it would be nice for the two of them to have some very rare alone time, and a moment of some peaceful quiet. He hadn't had a moment of peace in an awfully long time, he had to admit

Damianos blushed and smiled widely at the chance to spend some time with Aedan; especially in peace. He wasn't sure they'd ever had a moment of peace with just the two of them. 'I'd like that.' He said. 'Just us.' He added, glancing at the pack. They would be fine without him for a while, he decided, looking at Aedan. 'Shall we pack a few provisions before we leave?' He asked, tilting his head.

Aedan nodded "Probably best that we do, just in case we stay out longer than we expected to. We don't want to be caught out without any supplies. Let's go and pack some stuff now. The tribe won't miss me, since Idelle will probably take over for a life. Though if she takes over they might miss me. The woman rules with an iron fist." he joked

Damianos chuckled with amusement and moved away to pack his provisions, before heading to the gate of the village to patiently wait for Aedan. He felt fluttery excitement in his stomach, eager to get going and have some time alone. He began to stretch, rubbing his thigh slightly to remove the ache from it, wondering if the wound would be a permanent annoyance.

Aedan emerged a moment later shouldering some supplies and grinning as he approached his partner, clearly happy to be on the trail.
"You ready to go?" He asked, before eyeing his wound "You'll be okay, won't you? The wound won't bother you too much or anything like that? Because I wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable - if it'll hurt it doesn't have to be today"

'I'm ready, Aedan. Don't worry about it.' Damianos soothed him. 'I'll feel better stretching it out and making it exercise.' He added, before following Aedan out of the village, glad to be leaving his responsibilities behind for the day. 'How long to you think it will be before Eo has her baby?' He asked, smiling widely at Aedan.

Aedan led the way as Damianos asked the question "Oh, a month or two yet," he replied "All of the elders say it's a girl but I suspect it might be another boy. And it would be nice for Esca to have a cousin to spend some time with, and even better for him it its a boy. So I hope it will be a boy, though of course a girl would be lovely too"

Damianos sighed longingly, pining in his eyes. 'That's so far away, though.' He complained, a small pout on his face. 'Boy or girl, they need to hurry up and grow faster.' He said, glancing around at their surroundings, not wanting to be caught off guard whilst they were out. Damianos still sometimes dreamt of having children of his own; little feet to patter against the floors.

"I still stand by what I said, you know" Aedan replied "We could have a family of our own. We could adopt a child - there are so many who need homes, you know. Children are orphaned all of the time. We could have a family. I know you must long for one, you love children"
Aedan did, too, of course, but Damianos was the parent figure. Not Aedan

Damianos blushed, suddenly feeling shy now that they were finally having the conversation. He glanced over at Aedan. 'You'd... be happy with that?' He curiously asked. 'And you... the clan won't find it... strange?' He probed, needing to know that they wouldn't be scrutinised if they made the choice. He felt excited however at the fact that Aedan was suggesting it, and felt a pang of hope that perhaps they could actually settle down. Damianos yearned for peace despite his ancestry.
