Aedan laughed as he saw Damianos entertaining both Esca and Nuellan, before moving a little distance away from the group with Idelle so they could discuss things a little more privately.
Esca was fascinated, light brown eyebrows raising as grey eyes lit up. It was clear that Idelle's husband was a dark-haired man, considering Esca did not share the light blonde of his mother and uncle but a darker shade.
The little boy crouched down too, taking the blade of grass offered to him by Damianos. The boy tried a couple of times, unsuccessfully, to make any sound come from the grass, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion and concentration. On his third try, however, he produced the same sound as Damianos and let out a delighted laugh.
(Hey! No problem. I might be a little poofy because I'm popping in on my cousins baby shower)

On his third try, however, he produced the same sound as Damianos and let out a delighted laugh. (Hey! No problem. I might be a little poofy because I'm popping in on my cousins baby shower) 'There. Now you can annoy everybody with your whistle.' Damianos grinned, as Nuellan helpfully translated to the little boy for the Greek. Damianos watched the boy play with the whistle, his expression warm. He'd always loved kids. Once Esca had a handle on the grass whistle, Damianos then cupped his hands together and pressed his thumbs together, licked his lips, then blew through the small hole between his thumbs. Instead of a shrill noise this one was more hollow and haunting. As he shifted his fingers he was able to create a plethora of different noises; he wiggled his fingers to create the sound of a barn owl, a new animal he'd found he could replicate the sound of. When he was done, he looked down at Esca. 'Want to try?' He asked, Nuellan again translating and already examining Damianos' hands in an attempt to copy.

Esca nodded, trying to copy. He muttered some amusing things in Celtic, which Nuellan had to keep a straight face while translating. It still wasn't long before the boy had gotten the grasp of it.
Aedan came over a couple of minutes later, watching the group together.
"You'd better not be teaching my nephew annoying habits, you two" Aedan joked, but joined the group. Esca was happy with his whistle, and took a break from his now constant animal imitations to look at Aedan curiously.
"So you're my uncle?" the little boy asked, evidently confused
"Yes, Esca" Aedan replied with a little smile
"But if you're my uncle, why haven't I met you before? Why didn't mother say anything about you?"
"I've been...away...for a long time. Since before you were born. It's a long story, Esca, and perhaps I will tell you the full tale when you are older. Your mother probably didn't mention me because she didn't know when I would be back"
He glanced at Damianos, giving a little bit of a lost glance here. He was out of his depth, finding it hard to pick his words gently, to explain to the child that the story of the last seven years was not one a child his age would want to hear.

'Your uncle has been away fighting great monsters, and to hear his stories at your age will bring them directly to you.' Damianos whispered, wearing a cryptic expression. Nuellan warily translated, unsure as to whether this was a good idea. 'You cannot know until you are a grown warrior yourself, and capable of defending your tribe and your mother.' Damianos added. Nuellan slightly relaxed and relayed this information, then waited to see the child's reaction.

"Really?" Esca sounded almost reverent, and started bouncing on the balls of his feet
"Oh, yes," Aedan replied, going along with Damianos and his idea "I fought them with my friends here."
"Were they big? How did you defeat them?"
Aedan smiled "Yes, very big. The smallest twice the size of any man. We defeated them through teamwork. Nuellan here is very fast, he can run like a blur. Aquila and Damianos are very strong. We made a very good team. But it is best I do not tell you more, otherwise the monsters will come."
He shot Damianos a grateful glance, thanking him for stepping in. He clearly know how to deal with children better than Aedan did

'Children will believe stories they find frightening or exciting. All you have to do is.. twist the truth a little.' He stretched his arms above his head, then found himself shivering again. He grumpily folded his arms across his chest, glancing around the little village. Nuellan stood and looked at Aedan. 'Now what?' He asked.

'I'm thinking we'll have to make him some fur-coats.' He said, smiling shyly at Aedan. The other celt had certainly warmed up to him through their travels. Atreus had been silent throughout the exchange, still feeling guilt; especially now that he had seen what Aedan had been missing out on. This was certainly a far cry from the home Atreus was used to, especially building-wise. Damianos smiled up at them, then a shiver crawled up his spine and lifted goosebumps on his skin as he heard the distant howling of wolves. He closed his eyes, the noise running through him, before opening them again as the chorus of voices faded. Nuellan glanced up. 'Is that just a single pack?' He asked, haven heard howls during their journey as well.

"Double layered, just to be safe" Aedan had joked
Aedan had caught sight of a guilty looking Atreus, and only said to him quietly "It is thanks to you that I am back here. I could have rotted in the Arena for many years more. Do not forget this. We're all now getting a new beginning. We're all going to use them."
When the wolf pack howled, Aedan began hearing tribesmen calling out to others to bring in the grazing herds of animals.
"Probably a single pack, yes. Nothing to worry about as long as everyone's inside the gates. Come to think of it..."
Aedan called for Esca, and was relieved to see the little boy peek out from the doorway of the family roundhouse.
"Well, Esca has just shown us where the roundhouse is" he smiled

Nuellan nodded, then looked at Damianos, before repeating 'Roundhouse' in his and Aedan's language. Damianos blinked, then realised Nuellan was going to try and teach him at least enough to understand the basics of what the villagers would be talking about. He thought about it for a while, then very carefully and slowly repeated the word. Nuellan nodded and helped him to his feet. He slid his arm through Aquila's, and the group followed Aedan to the roundhouse. Damianos ruffled Esca's hair as he entered, sitting down nearby.

The roundhouse had a fire in the middle, warming and lighting the whole building. Around the fire there were already some beds set out, which were just furs, which would keep them warm overnight.
"We can each claim a bed for later," Aedan said, setting his supplies down beside one of the beds "then we should probably go and sit by the village fire with the others. They will all want to see me, after all, and I'm sure they would love to meet all of you."
It was going to be a social evening, probably. But he and Nuellan both knew that village fires often meant food. At least they wouldn't have to worry about getting food for tonight.

Damianos claimed one of the ones beside Aedan, Aquila and Nuellan predictably taking another two directly next to each other. Atreus kept his distance to the group, still feeling nervous about it all. 'Highly doubt they'd 'love' to meet me.' Damianos responded, grinning sheepishly. 'I'll do my best to keep up.' He then promised, not wanting to feel left out nor fall behind. Aquila seemed to know at least a little of the language, but he'd had to focus intensively throughout the conversations.

"Don't worry," Aedan assured "you all have Nuellan and I as translators if you need us."
As soon as everyone was settled with their beds, Aedan led the way out of the roundhouse and to the village centre, where there was a fire already burning, with some villagers gathered around it.
A few villagers immediately noticed Aedan's arrival and he was soon surrounded by villagers, some hugging him, some ruffling his hair. It was like one huge family, the village, and Aedan was soon laughing.
He had to respond to a barrage of questions - yes, he was fine, no, he wasn't a slave anymore, yes, he was here to stay, yes, he'd missed everyone, no, he wasn't hurt and yes, he really was 25 now.
"Introduce us to your company!" they began
"I think it's better if I let them introduce themselves," Aedan replied "then you can ask them questions"

Damianos backed up, feeling intimidated by the large group of people. Nuellan calmly introduced himself and gave them all a respectful nod of his head, then looked at Aquila who did the same, able to speak enough of their language to. Nuellan translated for Atreus, and then for Damianos, whom had nervously stuttered his greeting. This was almost as bad as the first time he'd been introduced to Atreus' homestead of gladiators. He shuddered. At least there wasn't a giant Aquila to put him on his back like a dog.

"Don't be too overbearing with these guys," Aedan said before his people could swarm them "they're my friends, and it's thanks to each and every one of them that I'm here. So don't hurt any of them, for God's sake. Except Nuellan. He's used to this kind of thing." he joked.
The people visibly relaxed and calmed down a bit, and asked simple questions, and kept playfighting to a minimum and mainly confined to Aedan and Nuellan.
"Are you going to take leadership of the tribe, then, Aedan?" someone asked, and Aedan bit his lip.
"I haven't made any decisions yet, okay?" he replied "I want to know how suited I'd be to the job. After all, even though I'm my father's son, I might not be by any means the most qualified to run the tribe. And I don't know if there's any point ruling the tribe while it's a province. It's not like I would have any power to actually help anyone."

Aquila sniggered and looked back at Damianos, who had relaxed only a little and was still keeping his distance. They eventually all settled down around the fire, Damianos, for probably the first time since they'd reunited, keeping a wide berth from Aedan, sitting instead with Aquila and Nuellan. The firelight reflected red in his green eyes, and he cast his gaze to the sky. It wasn't Greece, he knew; the stars were all in the wrong place. But; he contented himself; at some point in the year, the skies he was familiar with would eventually come around. He glanced up at a second chorus of howls from the wolves, and frowned as he listened. 'They're looking for something.' He murmured. Aquila looked down at him, frowning. 'What do you mean?' 'Oh! Nothing!' He quickly said, grinning sheepishly and holding up his hands. ((Okay... we have gotten this far with the only mythical thing being Damianos... want to play around with some monsters/creatures/etc? Like how there would be the labrynth and Minotaur in Greece, here in Britain there would be Selkies? I've just had a quiet laugh over here bc yknow how fairies are actually really awful in British myth? Damianos just being like, 'dude, it's a ring of flowers. How dangerous can these things actually be-' Aedan: *panicking* do not touch the fairies property you will die horribly and painfully Damianos: *slowly backs away*))

(Hehehehehe I'm crying at that scenario that made my day X And sure, that's somethings can introduce.)
Aedan gave Damianos a look, signalling that he wanted to speak in private.
"It's the Lykos, Damianos" Aedan began once they were speaking together "they must know you're here and they're looking for you. You should go to them. I could come with you but I don't know if they'd take kindly to me being there. They might flee if I accompany you. But I'll do whatever you want to do. I know things are slightly uncomfortable for you here, and it's loud and the language is strange, and I'm sorry for that. Perhaps you should go alone and discover your kinship with the Lykos here. I have found my family, and perhaps now it is the time for you to find yours. I'm not going to stop you from asking me to come, but I think you probabky want to go and do this alone?"
He highly suspected the Greek wouldn't want Aedan's company, but he might be surprised. After all, Damianos had surprised him many times before, and he had no doubt the other man would continue to do so. But he could sense the discomfort of him and the others, and he didn't want to force any of them to stay in tha discomfort. He wanted to help the others find their homes and their families. This place was Aedan's home, but he thought it might never truly by Damianos' home.

He said, smiling nervously. 'Once I've learnt and adapted I'll be fine, I promise.' He took his hand. 'Besides- I don't want to leave you, and I'm not going to ask you to leave your family again.' He said, voice taking on a more gentle tone. 'Alright? Nothing like that should ever happen again.' He let go of his hand, listening again to the howls. 'The only family I've ever known was my mother.' He said. 'I don't know the people that are here. I've never met any other Lykos.' He looked over at the gladiators, who he could see were warming up to the tribe. 'They at my family.' He said. '...you are my family.' He continued, shyly smiling.

He anxiously looked between Aedan and then his tribe, before he slowly released his hand. 'I'll be back.' He whispered. 'I promise.' He backed away, then turned and with hesitant steps walked towards the exit; slowly becoming more confident, before he broke into a run, and left the village. He ran towards the forest he could see nearby, lungs burning from the freezing cold air and the exertion he placed on them from running. He ran for at least an hour: Mist swirled around his ankles; he leapt over roots and bubbling brooks, until he finally slid to an abrupt stop in a clearing, body freezing over. A pack of about twenty wolves all turned piercing gazes upon him. His breath caught in his throat. The largest wolf was twice the size of a wolfhound, her pelt blacker than the night with a greyed muzzle and underbelly. She slowly prowled towards him, and he found himself unable to move under her gaze; one eye was green, the other a deep brown. The wolf raised her muzzle to sniff curiously at him, slowly walking a circle about his body. As she passed back in front, he was shaken to find she was no longer wolf, but human. A tall woman of around 6'2", her muscles clearly defined against pale skin. Her hair was as black as her wolf pelt; her body scarred from numerous fights. She looked around the age of 30, Damianos assumed. She spoke a language he didn't understand, and he replied to her in Greek to explain this. She blinked, and then almost immediately she switched into Greek. How, he didn't know. 'My name is Medeia.' She murmured. 'And you are, little wolf?' 'Damianos.' He shakily responded, trying not to stammer. 'You're a rare sight to the Lykos eyes, Damianos...' she said, tilting her head. He couldn't look away from her eyes. 'It is not often men are born to our family. You come from Greece, yet you bear the mark of a Roman slave.' 'I am a freed man.' He replied. 'I come with my friends to this land.' 'We welcome you.' She curiously said, slowly backing into the mist. 'Perhaps you should return to them, Damianos; I do not feel you are ready to run with us yet.' The wolves slowly passed into the deepening fog and were gone from sight. He slowly leaned against the nearest tree, heart threatening to pound out of his chest. He'd never felt so terrified in all of his life. So that was the Lykos. How had she transformed into a beast so large and imposing? Was that their secret? Did they not run with wolves, but were the wolves themselves? Now full of questions he couldn't get his legs to move, and so instead sank onto the grass and tugged his clothes tighter around his body. He would return to his Aedan in the morning.

(Oh god poor confused Damianos! I just wanna hug him)
Aedan had ensured a portion of food was saved for Damianos, just in case, but when he did not come Aedan got rid of the spare food, preparing to settle to bed with the others.
"Uncle Aedan?" a little voice asked "Where is the nice Greek man?"
"Damianos? He is gone to give letters to the messengers at the docks for his family back home, little one" Aedan replied softly, though he knew he was lying "He will be back in the morning, so go to sleep. When you wake up he will be here"
Esca settled off to sleep, but Aedan lay awake and couldn't sleep, sick with worry. Damianos didn't know the landscape. What if something had happened to him? What if the Lykos hadn't taken kindly to him? Or what if they had, and Damianos decided to stay? If the man had gotten lost, he could freeze in the cold of the British nights.
He tried to push his worries aside, knowing that be ought to have more faith in the other man, who was, after all, a good survivor and very strong. He had to give his friend a chance to get some answers from the Lykos, and maybe even to explore life with them.
But he was kept awake with more worries now. Was he going to be prepared to handle the responsibility of running the tribe? Should he become their leader or stay well away or leave things as they had been since his father had died?
He had a lot of questions in his mind and a lot of decisions to make that he knew he couldn't ignore because they would have to be made eventually, if anything was ever going to be done. He couldn't help feeling a little overwhelmed

(Awhhhhhh my poor babies! so confused and unsure x'D<3))
Damianos woke early the next morning by something licking at his face, and he released a loud yelp of surprise at the deer before him. It also yelped with surprise, quickly fleeing on rather clumsy legs back into the bushes. He sat up gasping for breath, looking around with wide eyes. Where was he? All at once the memories hit him; he'd followed the wolves to the Lykos... to that strange woman, Medeia. He stood, teeth chattering as he realised how cold he was. His stomach growled next, and he began to feel overwhelming panic; he'd ran too far, and in the dark no less. 'Idiot.' He hissed, chiding himself. He'd never find his way back alone. Survival now took first priority; he'd only die trying to get back to the village. Food; and furs. That deer would do. But first a weapon. He began to carefully scour the forest, until he found a nice, thick branch that he'd be able to whittle into a point. He found a sharp stone with which to do this, and when he was done he got to his feet and began to walk. He carefully tracked the deers hoofprints, took note of where water might be and of the deers needs through the prints. Finally he turned and followed them to water, where he saw it having a drink. He breathed in and aimed his spear, then released his breath and threw. A solid 'thud' echoed and the deer collapsed. Relaxing he moved over, and got to work.
By the end of the day he'd managed to skin the deer and separate it into food and useful items; he'd dried some thinly-sliced meat in on a rock in the direct sunlight in order to have food to last, and then wrapped up more chunks in leaves he'd found. The hooves would do for glue if he needed to repair anything, its stomach for a pouch. The skin he'd managed to turn into a fur to cover his back and shoulders against the cold. Damianos prided himself in his survival skills, most of them learnt from his mother- yes, the animals might be different, but on the inside they were generally the same. He'd managed to set up a campfire and he lit it as night began to fall. He silently wondered if Aedan was alright, and hoped he trusted him enough to not come looking for him for a while.
'I'll find my own way back, Aedan.' He said softly, looking up at the stars. 'Just give me time.' He began to eat some of the meat he'd hunted, before a realisation struck him. The Stars. He finished eating quickly and looked up again; if he could remember correctly the alignment of when he'd been sat around the fire- yes!!! He stood, quickly putting out the fire and collecting his things and the meat he'd caught. He could at least come back bearing food for the tribe. He began to walk, watching the skies carefully and keeping his path true.
It took him two hours, but finally he saw the village in the distance, and released a breathy laugh of relief as he approached and walked through the gates. 'Damianos!' Aquila whooped, standing and jogging over, pulling the male into his arms. Damianos laughed and returned the hug, pulling away. 'It has only been one day, Aquila- did you miss me that much?' He jested, the Roman punching him lightly on the arm. 'We thought you'd gotten lost.' 'Me? Lost?' Damianos replied, holding his hand over his heart as if hurt. 'Your lack of trust in me wounds me, Aquila.'

Aedan too had pulled Damianos into a tight, warm hug. His face was a little tight with worry, but it began to relax as soon as he saw the Greek.
"Uh-huh" He smiled "everything you just said proves you got lost. You idiot," He said, but softly "did you wander too far? I was about to start looking for you, but then I didn't know if you were just fine and just wanted more time with them or something like that."
Little Esca stood up too, running over with a big grin on his face.
"Damianos! Damianos!" the child shouted excitedly, his fast speech making it hard for Aedan to translate "You're back, you're back! Did you get lost like Uncle Aedan and Aquila said you did? They were getting very worried"
Aedan said nothing to the child, waiting for Damianos to give a reply he could translate to the little boy. After all, it was Damianos he had asked.
(Sorry but the replies are shortening down again XD Can't keep up on mobile like this)

He promised, but an obvious shiver washed over him. 'I'll fill you in later.' He added, giving Esca a beaming smile as the kid ran over to him. 'Esca, Esca.' He imitated, the boy's name pleasantly accented in his Greek. He crouched down. 'I wasn't lost.' He said. 'In fact, I even brought you a gift.' He reached to his belt and pulled the stomach-pouch off, knowing these things were useful. He gave it to the boy. 'There's some snacks in there if you get hungry.' He added, ruffling his hair before he stranded. 'I brought back some food.' He said to Aedan. 'It's all wrapped up if it'll be of any use.' He pulled out the packages of wrapped meat and smiled at Aedan.

Esca smiled a beaming smile and thanked Damianos "See, Uncle Aedan, I told you he wasn't lost."
Aedan chuckled as he ushered the child off "Yes, it would appear I was wrong, wouldn't it, little one? Go show your mother what Damianos gave you"
He turned back to the Greek, gratefully taking the food package "Ah,so you hunted while you were there. Yes, thank you, this will be very useful for tomorrow's meals. I'm sure the tribe will be very grateful."
Surely enough, when Aedan put it to begin to cook slowly over the fire for the next day, it was to cheers from the tribesmen, clearly happy to see more food being brought to feed the tribe.
(Oh, yeah, sure! My dad is watching the boxing right now x Have fun!)

(Oh, yeah, sure! My dad is watching the boxing right now x Have fun!) Damianos smiled widely at the child's utter trust in him, then smiled warmly up at Aedan. 'I figured if I was going to be so long that I should at least make myself useful.' He said, cheeks red but secretly pleased. The next day he was doubly pleased, a much deeper blush than the day before. He happily ate along with the tribe, brow furrowing whenever they would speak to him; they'd attempt to try and teach him words, but bless him, he was so easily overwhelmed and Nuellan would have to step in to translate.
