(Well in some plots he's the son of a chief. If you think him being someone important you could do that) While Damainos and Afreus unharnessed the horses, Aedan focussed on packing the supplies. He did an even distribution of the supplies so everyone had an even load and if anyone got seperated they could have enough supplies to last them a day or two until the rest of the group found them or they could get to safety. Once he had packed up the supplies, he began to distribute them among himself, Damianos, Atreus, Aquila and Nuallan. "There's enough there to last a couple of days each if someone gets seperated," he explained "it should be okay and it'll make it easy for us to be able to lay low and stay safe" 'Good job, Aedan.' Atreus praised him, paying him on the shoulder. 'Alright- Aquila and Nuallan, share a horse. Damianos and Aedan, share a horse.' He said, sliding into the saddle of one of them, and the other trainer onto one as well. Damianos blushed and looked at Aedan. 'You want the reins, or me?' He asked, watching as Aquila took front and Nuallan back, sliding his arms around the bigger male.

"I can take the reins if you want" Aedan shrugged, mounting the horse and taking up the reins.
He had some experience of horse riding, but only really as a charioteer. It didn't seem like it was going to be all of that different, though, and he figured he could manage it. There was hardly much time for negotiation anyway.

Damianos clumsily pulled himself up and nervously held Aedan's hips, blushing even deeper and trying to not think about it. Atreus nodded then clicked his tongue, and they set off. Aquila ended up pulling up beside them, wiping sweat from his brow. 'That was terrifying.' He said. Nuallan nodded his agreement, glancin at Aedan warily, but without the hostility that he'd previously nursed.

Aedan nodded, and bit his lip "I know, and I'm sorry about all of this. It's my old master, and I should have known he would do this when I agreed to come. He's not the most forgiving of men, and he particularly enjoys punishing me"
He couldn't help blaming himself, even though he knew it wasn't his fault. He couldn't have known this would happen, but he felt like he had caused the death of all the gladiators back at the hold and that he'd done this to his friends.
"I was so caught up in the excitement of seeing Damianos again, and the prospect of getting away from there, that I wasn't thinking clearly."

'I'd have taken you even if you'd resisted.' Damianos snorted and covered his mouth, and Aquila burst out laughing at the mental image he'd just had. 'Can you imagine if you'd brought him in kicking and screaming on your shoulders?' He wheezed, wiping his eyes clear of tears as Damianos s n i g g e r e d. Atreus rolled his eyes, tugging out a map to carefully read as they progressed.

Aedan too couldn't help but burst into laughter "Comforting," he called back to Atreus with a smile.
But his conscience now was clear, and he could focus on the ride. The horses were fast but a little tired already from pulling the carriages from the Arena to the guild, but Asedan suspected they could get a good distance out of them yet.
(So, a thought: If Aedan is the son of a chief when they return to Britain he could find out that he has inherited his whole tribe? Maybe he has to decide if he is willing to rule the tribe now it's under Roman command?)

They travelled until the sun began to dip, and the horses tire; Atreus found them a clearing among trees and tied the horses to a tree, sighing softly as he sat down. 'Make yourselves useful and set up camp.' They tugged fallen logs around a make-shift campfire, Nuellan setting down their sleeping bags nearby; separating the six into pairs so they wouldn't be crowded. Aquila helped Aedan bring over the food, and Damianos struck up the fire, starting to cook.

Soon their little camp was shaping up to be quite pleasant, if it weren't for the reason they'd had to set it up in the first place.
Once everything was set up and the fire was cheerfully glowing, everyone gathered around it.
"We should have a watch" Aedan suggested "in case anything happens during the night, and to keep the fire going. I can take tonight's, if that's alright with everyone?"
It was a sensible suggestion, he thought, to have someone on guard in case they were attacked in the night. It would be terrible if they were to not survive even their first night.

'No, don't stay up the whole night.' Nuellan advised. 'Take two hours; or when you start to feel tired, wake me. Then I'll wake Aquila, and Aquila will wake Damianos for last watch. By taking it in turns we solidify our chances of seeing danger before it arrives.' Damianos nodded slowly, then smiled at the other Celt, and then at HIS Celt. 'We'll...' he stopped what he was about to say; we'll be okay; because the last time he had said it, they had been... Damianos shuddered. Atreus glanced at them, then pulled out their packed bowls and began to spoon food into them, handing them out between the six people.

Aedan nodded, taking his bowl as they were passed around
"You're right, that would be more useful," he nodded to Nuallan "We'll take turns, then"
When he realised what Damianos had been going to say, he gave him a little smile "We'll be okay"
He wanted to show the other man that it was okay to see these words, that they weren't cursed. It was going to be fine, just fine.

Aquila curiously glanced between the two gladiators, wondering what was going on between them.

Aedan caught Aquila's gaze but didn't say anything, not wanting give Aquila any hints if Damianos wasn't. If Damianos wanted to keep things private, Aedan had not problem with that. It would also perhaps be more helpful to keep things quiet until the two men had decided exactly what was going on between them, whether they were a couple or not.
"We need to figure out a plan," Aedan said after a while "We can't hide out here forever. Damianos and I were discussing something that we'd tried and failed to pull off two years ago. But this time, if we lay low and perhaps raise a few funds, it could work"

'We could flee Rome, catch a ship to Brittania.' He began, then nervously looked at Aedan to finish. Nuellan sat up immediately, and Aquila's lips twitched at his partners excitement at the plan.

"We could head up north," Aedan replied "to my tribe. They'd be willing to receive us there, I've no doubt. I think, after conditions have suitably died down, I would be able to arrange safe passage to almost anywhere. The Britons are great seafarers and traders, and I could arrange a boat to almost anywhere with ease. That's where the funds come in, considering we would need to provide for ourselves on our journey there and for stock for any further journeys. I don't know what you think of the idea, but it's a start."

'Aquila and Damianos... you both used to fight in the pits at your homes, yes?' Aquila shivered, and Damianos dropped his gaze, as they answered 'yes' in unison. 'I'm going to find a place for you both to fight and earn us some money- alternatively, if you can find work on the farms, I'll put you both there.' Nuellan looked away with a quiet sigh. 'I can return to my old trade.' 'No.' Aquila immediately said, looking at him fiercely. 'It's my body, Aquila.' Nuellan murmured quietly. 'Its my choice, and it will help.' 'You took so long to recover.' Aquila breathed. 'I'll be fine.' Nuellan promised, before looking up at Atreus. 'Hopefully the nearest city will have folk interested in exotics.' Atreus wrinkled his nose but nodded, and then looked at Aedan. 'What about you, boy?' He asked, tilting his head.

"Anything I can get my hands on," Aedan replied "I can probably get work on farms or in the markets. Even if they just need a runner to carry messages or deliveries I'll do that. It might not bring in very much, but it will be something"
Aedan, having been so young when he was taken, and the son of a chief, had never really picked up a specific trade but rather dabbled in many. This was perhaps something that might either come in very useful or might hinder them.

Atreus nodded, satisfied for the time being. 'We have a plan then.' He said, sounding relieved. 'Alright. Finishyour food and get some rest; Aedan on first watch.' He said, before retiring to his sleeping bag with the the other trainer.

Damianos stayed with him for a while after the others had gone, noting with amusement his close Aquila and Nutella were sleeping together. 'I suppose I'll go too.' He finally said, smiling sleepily at Aedan. 'See you in the morning... I hope it yields a bright future.' He murmured, standing and retreating to his sleeping bag, despite wanting to stay with Aedan instead.

"Goodnight," Aedan smiled "be sure to get some rest. You have last watch, remember?"
He had been thinking for a while about telling Damianos about his father being the chief of the Votadini, but he supposed he hadn't lied about it, just not told him yet. He was debating whether to tell him at some point before setting off for Britain, or just letting him find out with the others when they got there.

The next morning, Damianos sat patiently waiting for the others to wake, keeping an eye out for danger whilst keeping one on Aedan as well, a slight smile on his lips.

He pauses, running a hand through his hair "I was more than just an ordinary warrior, Damianos. My father is the chief of the tribe"

Aedan shook his head "Not a huge amount. If anything, it'll make things easier when we get to Britannia. I just thought you deserved to know, and just to avoid giving you any nasty surprises. That and it probably explains a lot about why Metallus is so determined to have me back. I just thought you should know. The others will find out in time"
