Aedan shook his head "Not a huge amount. If anything, it'll make things easier when we get to Britannia. I just thought you deserved to know, and just to avoid giving you any nasty surprises. That and it probably explains a lot about why Metallus is so determined to have me back. I just thought you should know. The others will find out in time" He relaxed and nodded, smiling again; before realising how much more important it was he keep Aedan safe and return him home. 'I'll get you there.' He swore. 'I made a promise, and I'm going to keep it.'

Aedan smiled "It's a promise e made to each other that we'd go there together. Sure, this might have been a little different than we imagined it, but it's happening and it's going to work. We're going to finally go there"

'You know what?' Damianos said, settling back, closing his eyes and smiling as the sun finally peeked over the trees and shone on his face, warming his dark skin. 'I'm looking forwards to it.'

"Me too," Aedan nodded "though I'm a little apprehensive to see how my tribe reacts to my return. I was captured in the most honourable way possible, of course, but I don't know if they know that. They might still look down upon me anyway"

'No matter what, I'm with you.' He said.

Aedan shook his head "My people believe that it is greatly dishonourable for someone to allow themselves to be captured. There are some in my tribe who would argue that it would have been better for me to end my life than live as a slave these past seven years. I'm glad you're with me though, it means a lot"

I'm glad you're with me though, it means a lot" A tic started in his jaw. 'To wish death upon a person because of a minor embrassment to oneself is selfish and vile.' He growled, angrily looking away, chewing on the knuckle of his thumb. 'They should be proud and pleased to have you back at all. You're valuable and wonderful.' He continued, voice getting quieter and shyer, a deep blush making its way into his cheeks. He hunched over a little so he wouldn't have to look at him, curls falling over his eyes.

Aedan laughed softly "It's okay, Damianos. For the five years before I met you there were so many times I wondered if they were right. What they mean by it is having your freedom taken away is worse than death. With Metallus as my master, it was. When I found out they'd killed my little sister, Eoghann, to rile me up in a fight, I felt inclined to agree, because I felt like I blamed myself. I was eighteen when I lost her, and she was sixteen. That's when I understood what they meant."

'Because no matter what; there is always a chance to reclaim that freedom.' His lips twitched. 'A caged Raven will find a way to unlock the door.' He said, as though reciting something he'd been told. 'You cannot tame a beast whom is wild in their heart.' He looked at him, smiling a little wider. 'A few... sayings, in the family of the Lykos.' (I'm tempted for there to be a tribe of Lykos in Brittania- my little family I made to be mostly children of the gods and spread out around the world, generation after generation; I think it'd be cool for Damianos/Aedan to be able to meet each other's families...... in Brittania they are very, very 'shy', and extremely nomadic, often travelling and never staying in one spot long enough to be found))

Aedan smiled "And very good sayings they are," He nodded "Anyway, it should be fine. I just want to see my family again. I still have my parents and my older sister, Idelle, who was pregnant when I left. It will be incredible to see them all again, and to see of I have a nice or nephew from that sister of mine"

He said, before grinning and bursting out laughing at his stupidity. 'I'm actually dumbstruck right now, you'll have to forgive me.' He said, subconsciously placing his hand on top of Aedan's. 'I'm still adjusting to the fact that you're the son of a chief.'

Aedan smiled "Yeah, it'll be an interesting introduction 'hey, kid. I know you've never met me but I'm yout uncle, trust me'." At his comment about still adjusting to him being the son of a chief he replied "I guess it's a lot to get used to. I just hope my tribe has fared all right. If anything has happened to my father I have no idea who they'll have chosen to lead the tribe"

'What about your sister?' He asked. 'Does your tribe allow women to lead? My family is very female orientated. It's actually quite rare to bear a male heir.' (THAT WAS SO FUN TO WRITE rare to bear a male heir)

Aedan nodded "my tribe would let her lead, and we have many female warriors, but I don't know if she'd want to if she has a child to think about. There are lots of warriors who I suppose would be willing to step up to the plate if Idelle didn't choose to do it."
(Hehehehehe I laughed when I read it)

He said; a matter of fact statement, not a compliment of any kind. 'Your people sound strong.' He added, then glanced up and jumped as he met the icy-blue eyes of Nuellan, who was watching them closely and curiously. 'Morning Nu.' Damianos warily said, knowing Nuellan hated outsiders; it had taken Damianos six months for the celt to warm up to him, and even then it was only due to their first group fight that the celt had finally accepted him as a trustworthy comrade. 'Morning.' Nu murmured, shifting slightly as Aquila rolled over in his sleep. He rested his head back down on the larger males chest, deciding against getting up until their masters stirred.

Aedan too was wondering what Nuallan was looking at them so curiously, how much he had heard. What to did he know? Did he know about Aedan and Damianos?
He gave a nod of greeting, not wanting to be too loud and wake any of the sleeping men up, and watched at Nuallan settled back down.
He wondered what Nuellan thought of him now, whether he still distrusted him or whether he considered him trustworthy. He suspected there was still distrust there, and he didn't blame him.

'I'll start breakfast so it's ready for everyone waking.' Damianos murmured, setting up the cooking-pot and getting to work. Damianos took pride in his cooking; his mother had taught him right and he loved it. He tried to ignore the fact Nu may have been listening from the start, though he trusted the man too much to feel offended or worried by it.

Aedan nodded "I'll get some more wood and set it to dry out for tonight."
Setting out some firewood to dry for later use would be helpful for the next night, and he figured if they moved camp they could always carry the logs with them if he cut them small. It would mean anyone who was separated would be able to make a fire, anywau

Damianos smiled at him warmly and handed him a bowl of food, and then everyone else, serving himself last. Nuellan ate in reflective silence, looking as though he were deep in thought.

Aedan set the newly gathered firewood down beside the flames to dry out before taking the bowl offered to him before seating himself around the fire with everyone else.
He could see that his fellow celt seemed deep in thought, and Aedan had a flash of curiosity, wondering what he knew, before turning back to his meal.
(I take it Nuallan has found something out. What does he know? )

He finally started picking up on the tension in the air, and his eyes saddened, not wanting the feeling to last. He felt determination to get everyone to safety, and silently vowed to work as hard as he could to take the stress off his friends.

(Cool x I just wanted to check whether it was the chief thing or if he suspects about out guys)
Aedan tried not to think about what Nuellan might know as he focused on his food and on his plans for the day.
He would try the farms first, and if he couldn't get work there he would head into the markets of the nearest city nearest city. If he still couldn't get work, his last resort would be simply making himself useful but finding out things like the date of the next ships sailing to Britain and gathering more supplies.

Finally it was time to move on. They packed up and rode out, Atreus leading them through the harsh heat of the day to the nearest city.
When they found it, they set up camp in a small forest area which concealed them from prying gazes. Atreus took Aquila and Damianos out to try them for pit fighting. Nuellan and Aedan were left behind for the time being, until Atreus returned. Nuellan sat in silence, rummaging through a bag; in it were things he'd stopped their travel for on the way, and poor Damianos had been dying to know what was in it. The celt led down his hair and began to comb through it, checking the length of the bangs and ensuring his hair wasn't too scraggly. After a while, he spoke; 'can you trim my hair?' He murmured. 'Just to make it a little straighter.'

Aedan nodded, seating himself beside Nuellan as he took the blade offered to him to use for trimming hair.
After he has worked out exactly how much Nuellan wanted trimming off the ends he got to work, smooth strokes of the blade making short work of the hair.
At first Aedan chose not to speak, instead concentrating on the job at hand and not wanting to make Nuellan uncomfortable with too much conversation. He understood that people who took a long time to warm up to people often didn't care too much for idle conversation

At first Aedan chose not to speak, instead concentrating on the job at hand and not wanting to make Nuellan uncomfortable with too much conversation. He understood that people who took a long time to warm up to people often didn't care too much for idle conversation Nuellan seemed comfortable with this, but there was a strange reclusiveness to him now that hadn't been there before, as if he were hiding. Once Aedan was done Nuellan took back the blade and set up a looking-glass, quietly shaving. He finished swiftly and undressed from his gladiator clothes, pulling a short toga from his bag and then tying it around the middle with a bright red sash, trimmed with yellow. He brushed his hair out of his eyes and carefully examined himself in the mirror, before skilfully applying black face paint to outline his eyes. His icy blue irises stood out even more after this. He finally put everything away and glanced at Aedan. 'Good luck finding work.' He politely said, taking his final item from the bag; a coin pouch; and walking towards the city.

"You too," Aedan smiled, watching Nuellan disappear.
He probably should have taken the opportunity to ask about his recent reclusiveness but he did not want to pry too much and ruin the small amount of trust Nuellan apparently had in him. If he said that he suspected Nuellan of spying on him and Damianos he risked offending him. He would just have to wait until Nuellan decided to reveal what he knew.
He prepared for heading off to find his own work, stamping out the fire and camouflaging the camp from the outside world as best he could.

The end of the day came slowly. Damianos and Aquila were the first ones back with Atreus; both sported bad bruises and some cuts on their bodies. Damianos tiredly sat down, too exhausted to clean his wounds or tend to himself. He lay down on his back, wincing with pain. He'd forgotten how bad pit fights were. Aquila had come out better than his Greek friend, his worst injury a black eye; he had barely any cuts on him and not too many bruises. Atreus immediately retreated to bed. 'Wake me when the last of you arrives, then we'll eat.' He mumbled, collapsing into his sleeping bag.
