( Sorry. :c Family issues and a lot of work for school. I have a lot for senior year that I have to get done. I didn't mean to totally disappear on you. )
Rafe had never been more relieved, a quiet sigh escaping him as he tried to block out the feeling of her. "My mom wants me back in Maine for Christmas," he admitted. It actually made him feel bad saying it aloud knowing that he didn't plan to head out there, at least until the holidays were over. "I already told her that I wasn't going. I'd rather save my money for a better place other than that apartment, and..." He trailed off, keeping himself focused on the lights.
He didn't like talking about his family. They were distant and uncommunicative towards him, and he would be lying if he said that it bothered him. Only his mother would call occasionally to check up on him, and him with her, making sure that there weren't any issues that she would need to know about. His father called every once in a blue moon, but when he realized that all of their conversations were going to end exactly the same every single time, he would let them go to voicemail. His father stopped calling. And his siblings? His sister was tolerable, but there was no one he hated more than his brother. Half-brother, if he wanted to be technical.
"I just don't want to deal with Matt," he finally finished. The last time he had seen his brother, it had ended with him breaking Matt's nose as well as two ribs. After the fight was broken up, Rafe himself had a cut on his face and bruising on his torso that lasted for weeks. Time for another subject change. "So I'm all yours. Did you have anything particular in mind that you wanted to do?"

(Oh my god, don't worry about this roleplay! Real life comes first! Is everyone okay? Are you alright?)
Ki-Ki didn't press the subject. She knew his family troubles, even met this Matt once, very briefly, as Rafe tucked her half behind himself. She was nervous around that man, alright - he was unsettling, and it scared her, even if she didn't show it. As for the injuries Rafe had obtained, she had practically spent every waking moment worrying about them and making sure they would get better properly.
However, at the mention of her plans, she withdrew from any contact with Rafe. This in itself was unusual, as she grew up in a very touchy family and felt that physical contact was reassuring to others. She curled one leg up to her chest, eyes casting downwards. "Me and Tip are visiting Momma and Papas grave," she said quietly, tapping her leg a little. This was new information, something she hadn't shared withanyone - even Rafe. Every year, a few days before Christmas, she and her younger sister - who went by Tip - would vanish. Ki-Ki would always return with tired eyes, still slightly bloodshot from tears, and keep quiet for a few day, keeping herself locked up at home. She never spoke about her mother and father, except in passing comments. When mum and dad were doing this, me and Tip.... or When my father and I went to Fiji, I found... and never told stories about them.
She let out a quiet breath, uncurling her leg and turning to face Rafe again, the easy smile lifting her lips slight once more. "But other than that, Tam wanted me to visit him in London. I had to turn down the offer - the tickets' price skyrocketed last month, and business has been slow for a while. I'd be able to pay after Xandria buys her song, but thats not untill January."

( I'm fine. My aunt is the hospital right now. We don't know how she'll do. It's been pretty :/ I might disappear again for a few hours to go see her. )
Rafe couldn't keep the look of shock off of his face when she told him her plans, quickly giving himself a neutral expression though the worry still showed through slightly through a slight frown and soft gaze. It was something he had never known about before, and watching her now he knew that she was more than upset and bothered by the subject. Without thinking, he reached forward and placed a hand on her shoulder, letting it drop down her arm to her hand so he was now holding it, giving it a squeeze before he pulled away. He knew she was a very touchy person, but now that she had pulled away, he didn't want to risk making her upset with too much contact.
"If you ever need anything," he started, but let the sentence drop off, knowing he probably didn't need to say anything more than that. If there was anything that she needed, he was sure she already knew that she could go to him. "They always go up around this time, especially to anywhere like London. January isn't that far off though, and it'll be much cheaper once the holidays are over. You'll see him in no time." He made a mental note to remember to check ticket prices when he got home. "Until then, it's me and you. You are, sadly, stuck with me this year."

Oh my gosh... I hope she'll be okay. Don't worry if you vanish, i wouldnt mind if you took off now to see her. This rp is the least of your worries.)
Ki-Ki returned the squeeze on his hand with a thankful smile, letting him pull away without following. "I hope so - it's been far too long since I've tormented my older brother." She snickered as he said his last line, her smile quirky and playful once more. "The horror. Ugh, I can't believe I have to babysit you," She joked lightly, pushing on his shoulder. She stood up with one long, fluid movement, flicking on the lights once more, the colorful glow from her Wall fading away. "I have another gig at the cafe tonight. I forgot to mention that earlier," She said absentmindedly before she grabbed Rafes hand and pulled him after her into the kitchen.
"Also, Tip wanted fudge for christmas, so I'm going to steal you to grab the stuff i can't reach without a step, you royal tallness." Ki-Ki gave Rafe a silly face - Haha, got you into the kitchen - before placing a pot on the stove, opening her fridge to grab a few organic dairy products. As expected, there was little actual food in her fridge - a few apples, some other fruits, a half hand-full of other things - and placed them on the counter before tying her hair back again. Typical Ki-Ki, one topic to the next without a warning, yet she somehow managed to pull off being sane. Mostly.

Rafe let himself be pulled up, following her to the kitchen without an objection. He was always being dragged into one thing or another by Ki-Ki, something that took him quite a while to get used to. He could still remember early in their friendship when he had questioned everything they were doing, looking more than annoyed and confused about the things she was doing. They were things that he still did with everyone else, but never with her anymore. He always went with the flow. He would never admit it, but he was always happy when she would "force him" into doing things, even though he knew he would willingly do it without any prompting from her.
"I'm not tall," Rafe replied, leaning over her to grab a bag of sugar from the top shelf. "You're just short." He set it down in front of her, pulling out his phone to start a playlist he had made of songs he knew Ki-Ki liked to have a bit of background noise. One missed call from Abby. One new voicemail. Frowning slightly, he hesitated listening to it before swiping both notifications away and playing the music. He wasn't going to worry about anything that was going on at the moment, and if she was just calling to chat, which is something she rarely did, then she wouldn't mind him calling her back later. "You really need more food," he commented offhandedly, thinking back to the sight of her almost empty fridge. "I'll take you tomorrow if you aren't going to do it yourself."

"Careful, mate" Ki-Ki warned, shooting Rafe a surprisingly withering look when he called her short, even if it was a bit true. "My kind do not take kindly to being called short. Keep in mind, we're closer to satan than you titans," She turned away, opening the sugar to hide her smile. She hummed along quietly with the music, reading labels on cans of condensed milk. She withdrew a spatula from a jar on the counter by the stove, turning to face Rafe just as he swiped back the voicemail. Curiosity tugged in her eyes. "What was that?" She asked, turning on the burner to medium-low to melt the chocolate and mint chips into the condensed milk. She added very little sugar, most because of the milk was sweeter enough. However, Tip had a problem with her sweet tooth - nothing was ever sweet enough.
Ki-Ki snorted as he said she needed more food, giving him an exasperated smile. "I don't need anything else. That's enough to last be a few days." She shook her head fondly, folding together the quickly-smeeling-quite-amazing, melted fudge together to make sure it blended properly. "Oh ye giant, can you grab the clear circle cases? Thank you," She said, taking the little fudge containers from Rafe. She turned off the heat, and carefully ladled a bit of the fudge into each box, filling about eight of them. They were rather small boxes however, it really wasnt that big of a batch. "Anyways, who was that again?" She piped, gently setting the pot into the sink and filling it with soapy, hot water.
(Hey you... how's your aunt? Are you holding up okay?)

( She's doing about the same as she was. I'm alright. It's just been a long day and I haven't eaten, so I'm making food right now. Thanks for being concerned though. )
Rafe ignored her first question, acting as if he hadn't heard her and continuing to grab anything that she needed. He reached up an grabbed the clear cases, handing them over to her before turning to her fridge, crouching down so he could search through the drawers and observe closer what she had. "Apple, peach, apple, pear... A few dairy items... Really? This is supposed to get you through a few days? I eat this in one meal. I'm going shopping for you. You can't change my mind. Everytime you try to, I'll add another item to the list."
He didn't answer her the second time she asked either. He had talked about his family enough for one day. If he absolutely needed to, he would tell her later after he checked it. For now, he felt better keeping it out of his mind. "It's looking good," he told her, lifting himself onto the counter next to her, watching as she finished up. Just looking at it was giving him a serious craving for something sweet like Ki-Ki. Later when Ki-Ki wondered where one of the boxes went, he would have to deny knowing. Although it started as joke in his head, the fudge was looking better and better every minute.

(I know what it's like to have a family member in the hospital as such. If you need to vent or anything, i'm one PM away.)
Ki-Ki let his non-answering slide, figuring it was probably family related. When he said he was going shopping, she sent him another of her withering glares, pointing the spatula at his face threateningly, and inch from his nose. A heartbeat of silence, then she said a simple "No," And turned back to her fudge boxes. They were hardening nicely, perfectly smooth - an old family recipe her mother used to make all the time. Even if she wasnt a sweets person - no, she prefered bitter things like Rafe- she had to admit that the smell made her stomach ache, even if it rolled in sickness if she thought about eating. Seeing Rafe eye a box, she smiled silently and pressed a lid down, sealing it with a snap. She slid it over the counter to Rafe, letting it tap against his leg.
"Why are you so worried?" Ki-Ki asked, leaning against the counter besides Rafe and tucking her hands in her pockets. "I'm gaining weight back. I was at a hundred and ten this morning, and you can't see my ribs as easily." She words were positive, but when she voiced her weight out loud, pure self-disgust washed across her eyes, a faint clenching behind her back. "I'm up to twelve hundred calories a day instead of five hundred. Really, Rafe - I'm okay." She gave him her signature quirky grin, before closing the other boxes, stacking them neatly and placing them in the fridge along with the other ingredients. She handed Rafe the sugar for him to replace, knowing fully well she couldn't reach if she stood on her tip toes.

( Thanks. It really does mean a lot. c: Also these two are just too much. )
"Oh my God, Thank you," Rafe muttered under his breath, grabbing the box and placing it near his phone so he would remember it, not wanting to eat it now despite how bad his craving for it was. "Also, you just added another grocery item to your list. I wasn't playing around. I'll go tonight if I have to." Sliding off the counter with the bag of sugar in his hand, he sent her a disapproving look, gaze hard and focused as he listened to her speak about it. He was back a moment later, sitting up beside her again, his arms crossed over his chest. A weak feeling rose in his chest, something he always felt when they talked about this issue. He was worried, and he would always be worried when it came to her. No amount of questioning or pleading could get him to stop. If she wasn't alright, then nothing else in the world mattered except making things better.
"I know you're getting better," he said, taking in a deep breath before continuing, "but I'm still going to be worried about you. These issues don't go away that quickly. Sometimes they come back just as bad." There was a darker hint in his voice, barely detectable, but still there nonetheless. His experience with disorders like these were far from easy, and any sign that she could be going back down that path was enough to send up any sort of red flags. Even if she wasn't, and he knew she was getting better, he still being cautious and watching over her. "I just want to be sure. You know I care about you." There was a pause, a few quiet seconds when no one spoke. "I'm proud of you, though. You are doing a lot better. Twelve hundred calories is much healthier." He nudged her lightly with his elbow, looking down at her from the counter. "You promise you'll tell me if you're feeling anything like that again, right?"

(I will go down with this ship - No OTP left behind.)
Ki-Ki adverted her gaze guiltily as Rafe asked her if she would talk to him about her urges. She was unsure of how to respond - this was a confused problem for her, one she didn't see as a problem at all. She stayed silent for a moment, then an idea formed in her mind. Reaching out, Ki-Ki took rafes hand and laid it flat onto her upper side, on her rib cage. As she breathed, it was disturbingly easy to feel her ribs under her skin, expanding slightly with each inhale. After a moment of silence, Ki-Ki looked up at her best friend, a strange dullness in her eyes as she simple said, "I don't want it to go away. I want to see them."
That simple sentance held so much meaning; she hated herself so much, she would do anything it took to make sure she looked okay. Seeing her ribcage was reassuring, and the fact that she didn't want to gain weight and hide them made her self-loathing increase. For Ki-Ki, it was either be sick from starvation but feel beautiful, or have a healthy weight and hate herself so much she was sick anyways. Her hand released Rafes, something she made herself do. She kept her eyes down, not wanting to let Rafe see how she was tearing up slightly, and simply stood there. She looked like a child for a split second - too afraid for something so innocent, a calculator crunching the number of calories 24/7. Lost, was how she looked, lost and deeply, deeply afraid of her own mind.
