So I have a couple of plots we could use, if you want to hear them just ask.
I'm Issi, I'm looking for a role-player who can do at least 15 lines of role-play and is literate. If you have any other questions feel free to ask

hi! so, unless I remember really wrong (which would be embarrassing), didn't we do an ancient roman rp back on the old forums? I was threelittlewishes back then, if that helps at all.
either way, I'd love to do an ancient roman rp with you!

(Hey, yeah , we totally did x Nice to see you again, love your profile picture. Anyway I am basically using the same plots, so it's the emperor's child/ gladiator or the roman soldier/Celtic warrior. Unless you have any other plot ideas it's between those too XD (

( I wasn't totally off then, that's a relief! it's good to see you again! we could always do what we did last time - I do miss Adelaide - but starting from scratch. but then, the roman soldier/celtic warrior is so intriguing as well. maybe the latter, just to do something a little newer? )

(Sure, of course! So the plot is I have a Celtic warrior who is captured by your Roman soldier. It's pretty basic but once you expand on it you can do a lot.

( no, that sounds good. a lot can happen from just a simple premise. how do we want to go about the characters, and am I correct in assuming that the soldier would be male (anything else would be historically inaccurate but not impossible)? )

Yeah that would be right x Well, my charrie is usually a girl in this as I have a character I like to use for this who is female. That is, if you're fine being the soldier and don't want the Celt?)

Cassius had been assigned to a legion in Britannia a little over a year ago, and though it was beautiful, he didn't like being so far from home. He supposed that was what you got when you were a part of the Roman militia, but he'd hoped his station would allow him to remain close to Roma for a little longer.
He pondered this as he stood with the rest of his legion on the crest of a hill, watching the Celtic warriors opposite them. This had been going on for a while, three days now. Three days of superior strategy from the Roman side and brute strength from the Votadani. Cassius was more than ready for it to be over, and fortunately today was shaping up to be the last day of this constant fighting.
It wasn't so much the fighting that bothered him, though. He'd been fighting for years, now would be an awfully bad time to realise that he was against it. What bothered him was how constant it all was, especially in a place like this. Though he'd never said so out loud, and never would, he'd enjoyed defending along the coast of Our Sea than he had fighting to extend the territories in Gaul and Britannia. When you were fighting back, there was always something new, something shiny and distracting to focus on. But out here, you quickly fell into a routine, a routine he was getting tired of.
His centurion yelled a command and his century started moving forward, as they had every day for months. Cassius moved among them, falling into a brisk march as comfortably as if it were a warm bed. He didn't even need to think about his legs moving, by this point he was so used to marching that it seemed that was all he remembered how to do.

Elowen was a distinct young woman. She was tall, and slim, like may Celtic women, but with the athletic build of a warrior. She had a mass of knee - length copper hair, snowy skin, and grey eyes. Her skin was decorated with the blue patterns of woad dye.
She had been a stand - in chief of late, to defend against the Romans while her ailing father tried to recover. And Elowen had proven herself every bit the warrior, today as prepared to lead her people in the defense of their land as he had ever been.
As the Romans advanced, so did the Celt, and the warriors were already getting themselves into a frenzy, their eyes becoming glazed. Frenzies they would not leave until either the battle was won or they were killed.
Elowen was at the head of her army, sword raised as she prepared to clash with the enemy, prepared to enter the fray. She was determined to prove herself, and determined to show the Roman invaders that an army led by a woman could put up as good a fight as one led by a man. In her own culture it was not unusual to see women warriors, but the Romans ridiculed the British for having female leaders.

Everyone in the legion currently in fighting condition were there on the battlefield. Almost 5 000 men moved forward in the kind of unison only strict discipline and months of marching in time could get you. By comparison, the Celtic army was messy, disorganised and primitive. Relying on brute strength was an old strategy, but a valid one. Still, Cassius had seen countless armies fall at the hands of the Roman empire, so he had no doubt that this one, too, would soon crumble. Call it what you will - overconfident, arrogant, stupid. Cassius had decided long ago to call it a pattern.
In this case, though, the primary objective wasn't to fight until there were no men left to stand against them. No, they were here to capture the chief of this army, and leave as weak an army as they could. They would win the battle but leave the war for later.
But the chief seemed to be down with ails or wounds, so the order had passed over to his daughter. Cassius thought it ridiculous. A woman as a soldier, a commander no less? In Roma, it was unheard of, but here nobody seemed to bat an eye. Add that to the list of evidence of how much more civilised the Romans were.
The opposing army rushed forward, and the roman legion went to meet them. They moved in a block, spears extended. They were so densely packed together that they became one unit instead of thousands of men. In battle, they weren't soldiers. They were one legion.

In a few musical vowels of Celtic from Aedh, her soldiers split up to move around the sides of the legion. She hoped to split it in two, to make it more manageable to fight.
There was something unusual in the way the Romans were engaging her now. They used wide stances, as if to trap her in. What orders had they? To kill? Very possibly, but likely the aim of any decent Roman army anyway. To capture? Significantly more likely.
She couldn't help but feel a little at peace with the idea. If it happened, at least she would be taking a horrible fate that had been destined for her father and not herself.
So she tried to keep her mind on the battle, trying to duck and weave out of any groups of Romans attempting to box her in. But they were determined, and she suspected they would succeed eventually, as the Romans seemed to do in all things they attempted
(Sorry it's short, but yeah I'm getting ready for school so. ).

( not to to worry, mine'll probably be short for the same reason. )
The legion split into cohorts, but then stuck together. The Roman battle strategy, the one that they applied to almost every single battle any legion within the Empire fought, relied on formations, and formations could not be executed if there weren't enough of you. It seemed that this army, or at least the woman in command, knew that as well.
A brutal shout came from his centurion again and Cassius, along with the other 79 men under his command, threw their spears in favour of a blade that would favour them in close combat. A few moments of relative peace passed, and then hell broke out.
From moment to moment, they'd gone from outsiders to soldiers in the middle of heated battle. They changed formations to account for that, falling into wedges in order to divide the Celtic warriors and get to their chief, the reason that they were even here. Their cohort was approaching her in waves, each century getting a chance to trap her, and where they failed, the next would be ready to fill in. Meanwhile, the rest of the legion was focused on dwindling the army down, something that would aid their smaller goal, as well as the men attempting to achieve the first.

There was one century left, one last hurdle to jump, and then she could be safe. Couldn't she?
This century had obviously been keeping close watch on her and her tactics, and they kept a tight formation. She did a quick spin to confirm her suspicions - they had formed a circle. A very tight one. She suspected that she would have to kill a great many of them to create any sort of break in the circle.
She whirled around, knowing she was trapped. But she refused to yield, even when both she and her attackers knew it was going to be futile. The Celt believed that yielding in battle was around great dishonour, and she could not bring dishonour on herself in this battle, because any dishonour for her was a dishonour for her father and for her tribe.
She tried to engage as many soldiers as she could, but in the end the circle lost only three men, as each man was well defended by his neighbours, and Aedh was just one person.

When one man fell, the circle only moved to fill the space he had taken up. The circle continued to press in, swords extended. They tightened, so that each oncoming attack could be met with three or four from the Romans simultaneously. As they did, the surplus moved to stand with their backs of those still in it, shielding them from external attack.
When it was small enough for the century to stand in two complete layers - which really wasn't that small, there were nearly 80 of them total - a large, brutish man stepped up, twirling the blade in his right hand. "Do you yield," he asked, signalling for the rest of the circle to draw their weapons.
Cassius wasn't sure that she would. She had lost this battle the moment they'd managed to close into a circle around her, and though her continued fighting was admirable, it wasn't going to win her the battle. It merely resulted in the death of a few more men. Only someone stupid would miss that, and this woman didn't seem stupid.

[Just realised my phone had been autocorrecting her name to a name I'd used in a previous rp - Aedh]
Elowen could see as well as ever that she had no way out, and that she now had a chance to get out of this fight unscathed, if she chose to. But she wasn't the kind of person who chose to give up just to save herself a few wounds.
So in response, she simply shook her head and raised her sword again "I have lost the battle," she replied "but I fight to the last."
With that, the carnage started up again, but this time Elowen was finding it even harder to kill any of the men, considering that by this point if she tried to attack someone she would have to dodge about four swords rather than just the one. It wasn't a fair fight, but she still wasn't going to give up.
The circle began to tighten again, with some men leaving to rejoin the battle as the circle began to get smaller and tighter.
Elowen was discouraged, but tried not to show it. She could not prove herself as worthy to lead now. Though, perhaps her saving grace was her decision to fight until she could not fight anymore. At least this was, she would be captured with honour. Perhaps she would become one of the many warriors whose tales were told to spread their acts of honour.

( haha, if that hasn't happened to me xD )
Cassius wasn't surprised, and nobody else seemed too shocked by this announcement either. The man merely shrugged, and a few moments later three others had joined him. Defending themselves against her blows was all good, but there was no victory if they didn't fight back.
Unfortunately for him, Cassius was not among them. Instead of fighting himself, he only got to watch as the other men fought, employing tactics that made use of the fact that they were a group. It was beautiful in its own way, at least, if you ignored the bloodshed it could lead to.
Around them, it became clear that the Celtic army was falling, too. After three days of gradually lowering their numbers, the Romans finally outnumbered them by such an amount that they could quickly and efficiently make their way through the Celts, causing death as they went. There would be no fourth night of waiting for sunrise. Cassius was relieved, if only because that meant they'd be on the move soon.

[It's because my phone didn't recognise Elowen but remembered what a weird name Aedh was and was like 'did you mean this?" XD]
Elowen fought valiantly, but it was soon all over. Moments later she had a sword at her neck and one set of hand as her shoulders while a bother pair wrestled the sword from her arms. The Romans wouldn't budge now, no matter how much she kicked and struggled, and by the time she had finally given up on wriggling out of their grip, the three Romans had made short work of tying her wrists.
She could hear, too, the shouts of the many men of her own army dying. She couldn't see much because of the many men circling her, but she knew they had lost the battle too, and would be slaughtered or imprisoned in their remaining hundreds.
The young woman couldn't shake the disappointing feeling that she had completely and utterly failed, and that she had failed not just her tribe, but her father as well. He had trusted her, and she had allowed herself to be captured and her men killed.
But her chances had been slim to start with- the Roman forces had been larger and more organised, with their strategies and patterns and formations
