Xander listened intently to Theo's question, unsure what to expect. "I mean it depend I guess." He thought a moment longer, torn between lying and telling too much personal information. "A majority." He shrugged, deciding to go with a vague truth. "Sorry," Theo replied, sounding genuine enough. He didn't know what else to say, he didn't know how to put himself into Xander's position. His own family situation, well, it wasn't a good one, but it was completely different. It had never been restrictive, there had never been rules. Or at least, the rules that were laid down only applied every now and then, when somebody realised they existed. "It sounds difficult," he said finally.

"I've been okay, I guess," Amalthea responded "Ravenclaw just gets a little boring sometimes, I guess. What about Slytherin? You enjoying it?"
She didn't have too many friends in Ravenclaw, just one or too. These people were smart, to be sure, but their intelligence made them narrow-minded and they often had a desire to be proven right to the point of being argumentative. The company of Ravenclaws became difficult sometimes,
She jumped back a little as the potion suddenly threw back a cloud of coloured smoke. She'd checked the book though, and this was meant to happen,so she wasn't too alarmed or shocked.

"It's okay, really." Xander shrugged. He was unsure if he should appreciate the friendship that seemed to be forming with Theo, or to be cautious of it.

"Slytherin is great." Kane shrugged. There wasn't much that he felt he needed to share with Amalthea. After all, they weren't friends, so it wasn't an obligation. In reality, Kane loved Slytherin. There were always serious and realistic conversations being exchanged and politics being discussed. The only thing that he didn't appreciate was the need to be serious and reserved almost all of the time.
Kane also jumped at the cloud of smoke. When Amalthea regained composure quickly, he tried to slow his racing heart and look as calm as she did. The only problem was that he had no idea what was going on and if that smoke meant the whole thing would explode.

"Don't worry," Amalthea smiled when it took a bit longer for Kane to relax after the cloud of smoke "it's supposed to do that, it means that you're making the potion right."
This was pleasant enough so far, it seemed, and the potion was coming along quite well. She hadn't made any mistakes so far, though there were still plenty of opportunities to mess it up. But Amalthea never messed the potions up, because she was always careful and precise. She followed the instructions to the letter, unlike some other students who preferred to try and be a little more adventurous and as a result usually ended up messing up their potions. She'd seen ruined potions far to many times for her to make the same mistake.

Kane watched what Amalthea was doing with a slight interest, something that was new to him when it came to potions. Though, that was mainly because he was so terrible at them. He was fascinated in her precision of the potion as he glanced down at his own book to notice that everything that the potion was doing was exactly what it was supposed to do.

( sorry, I never saw your post! )
Theo nodded. "Alright, if you say so," he allowed. "Look, I'm going to go sit down again. I have lunch to eat. I just wanted to make sure you were alright. I'll leave you to eat." He turned, hesitated, then turned back. "Oh, and if you want a ride home, you know where I park my bike. Feel free to wait there after school."

(Its okay!)
"Thanks" Xander nodded and watched Theo walk away. He let out a slow breath before walking to his own table. Xander couldnt put a name to it, but Theo gave him a funny feeling. Not necessarily a bad one, but one that Xander had never felt before.

Theo returned to his table, and after a brief interrogation by his friends, he fell back into the conversation he'd left behind. Still, he couldn't help but wonder, in the back of his mind, when he'd next see Xander again.

The rest of the day, Xander struggled to focus. His mind kept jumping to Theo and how he had offered Cander another ride, even after the embarrassment from the weekend. Every time his mind shifted to Theo, however, Xander tried his best to push it away and focus.

The day went on like normal, and as it continued to distract him, Theo ceased to think about the strange conversation he'd had - seemingly without his own consent. But when the final bell rang and he went out onto the parking lot he remembered the promise he'd made. He didn't regret it, as such, but he once again had to wonder why he'd done it.
