Ahhhhhh, so much exciting news! I can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store for us, Shadow! Constellations are so interesting, and with your creativity, I can’t wait to see what you’ll turn it into!
And it’s very exciting that you’ve got your dorm to yourself! Silence is so good for getting the creative juices flowing!

Dingoleap - YESS!! I've been super in love with it. It's like discovering Tidecaller all over again, except with this I can feel the potential for stronger characters. (more well-rounded, loveable ones) I am always looking for ways to improve. It is. :'O I really love it so far. I got a good chunk of chapter 35 re-written and I did some stuff for Starborn.

I love that feeling. It’s the best feeling in the world. I’m even more excited to see what you’ve got for us! (Also high-key want to make Curse mood boards now)
Yay for productivity!

Ok so Chapter 35 is looking REALLY great now. I'm much happier with how its sounding and the message I'm trying to get out to y'all feels much clearer. It's an important chapter, even if it feels like it's not following the main plot. Trust me, it is. The tangled web is unraveling now. After re-reading old chapters, I've had this feeling that I've gone off tangent a lot, but the more I let those scenes sink in, the more I realized that it helped in many ways push our main character forwards to where she is now. An accumulation of pain, loss and unanswered questions that leads up to a "cup ready to burst" effect; exactly want I wanted when I started Curse. I hope you guys will like it! A bit of a refresher here as well. For those who do not remember, Hawkshade is Eaglefrost's father. This is from Chapter 26. Snow flicked her tail at a tall, bright orange she-cat standing behind her, and with a face as cold as stone, the she-cat reached behind her, getting handed a small bundle wrapped in moss and ferns. She then padded forward and laid it on the ground in front of Hiddenstar, unwrapping the package for her.
The horrified gasps and wails from the front row were enough evidence of what was inside.
“Fallenwing! No, Fallenwing!” Snowpelt wailed, collapsing onto the ground, a few cats around her supporting her as she continued to wail.
“This,” Snow hissed, indicating toward the piece of Fallenwing that was inside the bundle, Snowpelt’s cries echoing among the pines, “is what will happen to all who stand in my way of what I want. Firebird, hold the warrior down.”
The clan was hysterical at this point. A mix of rage, grief, and hopelessness rose like a wave as Snow un-sheathed her claws in front of Hawkshade’s belly, her assumed second in command, Firebird, holding him down for the slaughter.
“MountainClan, to me!” Hiddenheart screeched, charging forward at Snow.
The clan hurriedly followed suit, their caterwauls and snarls drowning out the outcome of Hawkshade’s fate.

Darkmoon has an interesting philosophy. Interesting quote, as well. I can practically hear the stubborn determination in Shadowface’s voice.
Great to hear that the chapter is coming along so well, Shadow!

mintedstar/fur - lol I'm having a weird day today, but I'm chugging down all the caffeine I can find and working to get Chapter 35 ready for posting. Dingoleap - Her philosophies about life are...ones I wouldn't necessarily tell people, simply because I'm a softie. x'3 In Darkmoon's world, running away from your problems is equal to suicide. For me, I believe you are allowed to run and hide sometimes, but eventually you will have to face the things in your life that have harmed you or that you yourself have harmed. Otherwise, you really won't be living your life the way you should; without regrets. I'm hoping to have it done tonight.

Ok 22 pages. I found a good stopping place. I have two more scenes to go.
"Do I appreciate this power that has been forced upon me?
No. Appreciate is too strong of a word.
But, maybe it’s the promise hidden within the flames…the promise of that power protecting my loved ones.
But…who would protect them from me?"

Here's another "reminder/refresher" from chapter 31. “Show me how,” I said suddenly. “Show me how to use my two curses.”
The yellow-eyed she-cat shook her head. “We can only alleviate the built up agitation between the two curses inside your body and give you the ability to use them. We do not have the time to teach you. This you will have to learn on your own.”
“You will also have to choose,” said the green eyed tom, “between rebellion and pain. Otherwise they will eventually destroy whatever soul remains inside of you. It’s not natural for them to be together in one body. You understand?”
I looked up into his indiscriminate face. “Do I need to choose now?”
“No. But soon you will have to. You will know when the time comes. You will be seeing me again, I’m sure,” he assured me.
“I will be there as well,” the yellow-eyed she-cat said cheerfully. “He won’t say it outright, but you are family to us, Shadowface. We will not abandon you with this burden now that we are aware of it. It’s our job as the first seven to make sure our children do not suffer because of the curses we have given them.”

So choice happens! Pain or Fate? Frankly whichever one that keeps the lines moving forward. Maskkit has the curse of Pain, so Shadowface can keep the Curse of Fate, have more kits and pass on the second Curse.)

Katanaheart - Don't forget that if Shadowface breaks the Curse Lionshadow gave everyone in her family will be "Curseless" unless they had a strong tie to the Curse of Fate, then in which case they will only have that. @mintedfur/star - As long as you are writing! :'D

So if by the other way around, Shadowface keeps the Curse of Pain, has more kits or her kits have kits that would then inherit the Curse of Fate.

mintedstar/fur - You take your time/you do you! ^^' Katanaheart - Only a Curse of Fate can create another Curse of Fate. Same thing with any other Curses. Their children inherit their curse and their curse only. Whichever Shadowface chooses, any future children she might have will inherit that one curse. That is the dilemma, because she carries the last remnants of two different Curses. Whichever one she doesn't choose will go extinct and will never return. (Though some time down the road we might have another Snow incident; "the world trying to replace the missing Curse".)
The reason Shadowface and her ancestors had two was because Shadowhunter still had the Curse of Fate when she gave birth to Jade and the Curse of Pain belonged to Lionshadow.
In Maskkit's case, she (like everyone else) has inherited Lionshadow's Curse of Pain AND the Curse of Fate from Shadowhunter's line, BUT like Shadowface and all others before her, Lionshadow's Curse is stronger, and thus is the only one present in both the eyes and powers. Once that Curse is gone, Maskkit will only have the lingering wisps of the Curse of Fate, which may or may not manifest. (But given that Shadowface was unable to manifest it until Falconwing awakened it, it is very unlikely).
Think of it this way; Lionshadow's Curse can be traced back to the very FIRST holder of the Curse of Pain (the origin of all Curse of Pain holders) while Shadowhunter's Curse of Fate line came hundreds of generations later. Lionshadow's Curse is so much more pure and strong that it overtook all future generations of the Curse of Fate power that Shadowhunter would have otherwise passed on. The Curse of Pain eclipsed the Curse of Fate and has pretty much snuffed it out.
Does that make sense?
