His shadows suddenly formed into sharp points, pointing right at the other as Mikey shook with surprise. His shadows were hovering right over the girl, one of them moving to open it's wide mouth behind the girl's head, but Mikey glared at it and it shrunk away. Mikey composed himself, cursing his own body for being easily scared and surprised. He shook his head, his shadows slinking back into where the came as he cocked an eyebrow at the girl and spoke the words, "Because I can." With hints and dashes of the sassiness his brother was known for in the small town they both grew up in. It seemed to have rubbed off on the younger brother, which Mikey thought of as useful.

Sensing a presence on her that she hadn't encountered before, her right wing unfolded and arched up towards where the presence was, but retracted once she felt it was gone. "Because you can? You're not in war, you're not training, and yet you shout?" A small smile appeared on her lips. "You would make a fine student for the Firebird's Militia with that type of attitude. A shame we don't accept outsiders anymore." As she continued the speak. the radius around them began to increase in heat. "My name is Celeste, by the way. What might yours be?"

"The name's Mikey." Mikey said, rolling his eyes slightly at her speech. At least he talked here, and found it easier to talk. At home, it was very constricting, with everyone looking at you like you were an alien. Nobody wanted to be near you, as they were Light Elves, and Mikey happened to be the more rare Dark Elf, and the parents discouraged them from going near Mikey because of his past and his race. Mikey still had a burning grudge on those people, and even though he was banished he vowed to end them. "You expect everyone to be quiet? You should travel to my world. I think you'll like it there." Mikey said with a rare smirk, leaning his chin on his palm, setting his elbow on the table as he looked back up at the weird phoenix chick.

Celeste starred at him with a look of bewilderment at this statement before a loud and almost snarky laugh came from her, one of which didn't seem to fit her elegant yet foreign appearance. "You think a Firebird prefers silence? Clearly you've never heard or encountered one of our kind!" Her smile she had on expanded into a grin. "The only time we keep silent is on stealth missions so we can build the fire of our wings to attack our foes swiftly." Her eyes sparked with a glint of nostalgia, as she remembered one of her numerous missions with her training squad.

Painful remarks and firey insults danced on Mikey's tongue, ready to be spat out like harsh venom. But, he didn't want to make enemies too soon here, as it could be very disasterous, and his shadows may finally get their taste of fresh meat. Which was never good. "Well you didn't like me being loud, so what else could I think?" Mikey shot back, rolling his eyes once more as he turned to the table, his shadows now quickly gobbling up his food. "And don't need to preform a speech everytime you talk, by the way." Mikey said, those dashes and sprinkles of sass returning back to his voice.

Max watched the scene unfold with muted confusion, eyes flicking between the two as they traded sass like some kind of high-stakes table-tennis game only with more trash talk. He opened his mouth once or twice, unsure of what to say, but quickly snapped his jaw shut and leaned back in his seat as he let the conversation flow. Quickly he began to get fed-up and waved a hand, trying to get their attention. "Hey now, what's with all the brashness? We're all in the same boat here, let's have a chill conversation," he piped up.

"Brashness?" Celeste fell quiet as she thought upon the word, her right point finger tapping against her chin. "I never thought Firebirds could be brash, but maybe to some we are. We...don't know the feeling of calmness, sadly. I suppose it is within our nature to be brash?" She questioned, her tone seeming rather honest. "Anyways, you say we're in the same boat? I don't mean to be....I think the word is rude, but neither of you have wings. Were yours taken as well?" She asked with a gasp, seemingly terrified at the thought.

"I don't have wings, nor have I ever needed wings." Mikey said, his eyes looking carefully over her wing as his eyebrow raised. "Mine weren't taken, or whatever, because I never have had them. You're the anomaly here. You have a wing." Mikey was going to be careful around her, because it was obvious that maybe one of her wings was torn off in battle, that mentioning that could spark a fight or a flashback or something that could be very violent. Not that Mikey wasn't one for violence. He'll gladly fight.
