Nubi crept out into the hall and looked around. She'd hate to be spotted getting out so late so she hurried down the hall with her things hugged tightly to her chest. She squinted as the sun glared through the windows and into the hall. This was her least favorite part of waking up so early for class. Grateful as she turned into the next hallway she traveled down the steps quickly and jumped the last step entirely. The sound of distant sirens distracted her and she looked around. Something probably happened outside, she silently hoped it wasn't anything involving the school but she picked up the pace anyway.

By the way the sun here was positioned, it seemed like it was around 'breakfast' time, as the humans here put it. Most meals from her home were just called feasts or portions, there was never need for a name. Why do they name so many things here? She wondered as she traversed the hall towards the mess hall. Again, another unnecessary term she thought. Her footsteps stopped as she approached the hall. She hadn't had the best of introductions with everyone else, and wasn't quite sure who she would meld best with. Not to mention the fact that she, unlike others, couldn't hide what she was. Taking in a deep breath, she opened the door and peered her head in, her heart already pounding it's way into her throat.

Yet another thing caught Mikey's attention, getting annoyed with himself as his shadows seemed to roll their weird eyes at him. He glanced around, feeling irritated with himself that he could not focus on one thing and constantly had random things distracting him. His eyes didn't land on the boy of before, however, but instead a girl that he faintly recognized, peering almost nervously out of the mess hall door. Mikey raised his eyebrow, pushing his glasses up his nose as he looked at this girl closer, and noticing something like she was not used to this way of living. Which was common for most people. But it still kept Mikey's attention, unfortunately for him.

Max didn't pay much notice to anyone in the mess hall, at least not right away. He wasn't particularly a morning person, and as such his social skills were not primed during early breakfast hours. So, when he saw someone staring at him he really did not have the proper energy to react. Except, when he noticed the guy using magic, which was something he hadn't seen in quite awhile. He felt a small ache in his heart for a past life, but on the outside he just frowned and pulled the fruit from his mouth. Quirking an eyebrow up, he approached the table and gestured with his phone. "There's a Ghastly."

Mikey shook his head as suddenly his shadows grew into sharp points, pointing directly at the boy he had seen earlier. Mikey retreated his shadows as his darker eyes looked into the boy's own, pushing his glasses up once more as his shadows continued to pick at his breakfast, filling Mikey up as if he was eating it with his mouth.
"What?" He asked, his accent shining through.

I'm here kinda I'm playing sims]
Artemisia walked into the mess hall to find that she wasn't the only one visiting. She went towards the food and got some chicken tenders to share with her little snakes. Setting down the food on a table, she readjusted her googles on top of her head and sat down. The two snakes that framed her face hissed as they saw food and tried to reach for it only to not be long enough. "Hey that hurts," she snapped as she held up some chicken for them.

Seeing that two of the other students were distracted, Celeste calmly walked over to where food was being served, her lone wing dusting the floor behind her. The table before her was filled with food that seemed similar to what she had before, but the colors differed as well as the portion sizes. She was use to having much larger portions than that of what wad presented to her. Maybe I'll just take one of everything? Yes, that seems like it would be the best option. Grabbing two plates, she started to fill her plates in an almost strategic way so everything would fit. (Side note: Firebirds eat a lot more so they can fly and fight longer. Their bodies also burn calories and fat a lot faster)

Max watched shadows sharpen at him without even a blink, eyeing them with a curious sort of blank stare, keeping himself from looking too interested. It made sense that he hadn't seen this magic around, as he didn't recognize the user at all either. "Hold on," he muttered in reply, pausing to swipe his finger across the screen and catch it before flicking the screen of the phone towards the other boy, taking another bite of the pear. He couldn't help but wonder why the guy had such an Earthly accent. "What's your name?"

"Mikey." Mikey answered simply, his shadows still picking at his food as he cocked his head at the fellow patron. It was clear this boy has been here for a while. And why Mikey? Mikey had snagged the lone table for a reason, as even eating with your shadows was kinda weird. Even for this place, which was weird indeed. "Yours?" He might as well ask if the boy dies indeed stay a while.

That was....a very normal name, but not for a foreigner. Huh. Without hesitation, Max turned the phone screen back towards himself and renamed the Ghastly to Mikey. "Maximus. I prefer Max though," he replied after a moment, taking a brief look around the room as it started to fill up before tucking his phone back in his pocket. He paused once more, watching Mikey with a calm and careful look before gesturing to his shadows with a casual hand. "So how long have you been here? Since you still have your magic and all."

"Two days." Mikey answered, finally dipping his head down and grabbing the utensils to eat without his shadows. "You?" Mikey didn't speak much, no more than necessary to get his point accross. Not anymore, at least. His shadows recoiled and disappeared back into the places they came from, Mikey blinking slowly, chewing his mouth full of breakfast food, wondering if he was doing it right.

That ought to do it. Celeste nodded to herself as she looked over her portions and made her way to one of the tables towards the corner of the room. Maybe in the future she'd be able to dine with the others, but she still wasn't use to be around them all just yet. There was far too much pressure, in her mind, to become accustomed to everything this manor offered. Besides, no one else here is winged by any means. I suppose that is a good thing though. If someone appeared with a both wings in tact, it would pose a problem of sorts for sure.

Max plopped himself in one of the seats at the table, leaning back in the seat and slumping down ever so slightly. Two days? That was crazy. He could barely remember what it was like for him at two days. "Almost a year now," he replied with a bit of a shrug, trying to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal but he felt ancient and weary compared to a lot of the newbies still wallowing in what they'd lost. He supposed the mourning never ended, and it so far it hadn't, not really. "You must come from an interesting place with abilities like that. Hope you're ready to get used to Earth."

"I'll murder every last one of them." Was all that Mikey said as his eyes grew darker along with his already weird voice. "Before I get used to this hellhole." Mikey was still clearly pissed that he didn't get his sweet revenge on that sicko. "And this isn't a cool power. It's what got my brother and my family cat killed." Mikey's tongue was sharp and serious, his ears twitching slightly as he picked up the sounds of the mess hall.

As Celeste had her meal, she kept an eye on the other two individuals who were now sitting next to each other. One, who was silhouetted in darkness, seemed rather haunting and hostile appearance wise. The other seemed lost in a daze almost, as if remembering something. The other might do well as a friend, possibly. Truly, she wished Axel or Ciris was with her, but she would never see their faces again.

[ hello hello! not much, just your sort of basic intros. everyone's eating breakfast...? ]
Max raised both eyebrows at him in slight surprise, rolling the half-eaten pear around in his hand as he listened. He couldn't blame Mikey for being bitter, but he knew that latching onto those emotions only allowed them to fester. But, of course, he wasn't going to tell this guy how to feel. Instead, he leaned forward, resting his elbow on the table and giving the guy a sympathetic look, dark eyes trained on him. "I'm sorry, I really am. It get's easier, trust me. I can help."

"It's gets easier my ass." Mikey growled, not liking speaking more than nessecary. To him it didn't get easier. He had to live with blood on his hands from a crime he didn't commit, vanished to a realm where most likely he'd be rejected as well. Too different. Too weird. Too unusual. Not another face in the crowd. Mikey was already sick of this world and how... indifferent the place was to home. Earth? Was it called? Mikey didn't give a stuff anyway if he got it wrong. "How can you help? Be some kind of counselor or some [poop]?" Swearing was just incorporated into his vocabulary, and everyone back home seemed to be okay with it, because well, it was part of him. But he didn't know if it was okay here. "Also, what the hell is this 'New Jersey' everyone's saying I have an accent from? I don't have an accent!" Now that he thinks about it, he noticed Max has an accent, not him. But in his home world that was what he was used to. Everyone having the same accent with minor differences, nothing very special about anyone's voice. But then he comes in here and everyone keeps asking him if he's from New Jersey. He didn't even know where New Jersey was! (I'd like to see Mikes hear a British or Russian accent xD)

[ Someone take him on a vacation to Europe lol ]
Max blinked at Mikey before letting out a surprisingly loud laugh, nearly choking on the pear that he quickly pulled from his mouth and dropped on the table. He clutched his stomach, shaking his head with a gasp as he wiped away a tear. "Me? A counselor? Oh hell no. Jeez dude I'm talking about a friend," he breathed, his face practically transforming with his grin. The haze of tiredness seemed to melt off him as he sat up in the chair, tucking his hands in the pocket of his hoodie. "I got my own problems, and I can't really help anyone with theirs. But I can make Earth seem fun, at least." At the last bit, he held in another wild laugh, holding a fist up to his mouth. "Jersey? That's the next state over."

"What the hell is a state?" Mikey was completely lost on these things, the way these humans worked in oh so complicated ways made his head spin with utter confusion. "And I don't have friends. Well, I do, I don't keep them though." Mikey's tone imitated a more girly voice, happy-go-lucky but still bitter at the same time. "So good luck with that. And the speech issues as well. That usually plays a key factor in friends. I don't talk as much as this, I don't even know why I'm talking this much, most of the people back home don't even know what my voice sounds like." Wow, he hadn't babbled like that since he was little. He cleared his throat, his shadows returning to pick at his breakfast as he continued to speak. "And what's fun to do here? Can I go to this New Jersey?" Mikey asked, his bitter tone trading in for a more curious one.

Max held in his amusement, just keeping a good-natured grin as he listened. "A state is just an area governed by a group of people, who are all governed by one person," he explained, quickly realizing that he'd have to explain quite a few things, but luckily he had patience a mile long, and it was obvious he'd need it for this guy. "Look, you don't have to, but I'm a low-maintenance friend, I promise. I don't talk much either," he shrugged with his hands before crossing his arms over his chest and pursing his lips. He figured Mikey would come around at some point, and he wasn't the type to pester very much. People did what they did and that was usually it. After a moment of pondering the idea, his smile grew a little smirkish in the most innocent way. "There are plenty of fun things, suchhhh as Pokemon Go. But yes, I can get you to Jersey, or anywhere really."

(I am lazy af)
(Ok, he's gonna go to the castles in England, visit the Eiffle Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa, and yay)
(He said he's excited :3)
"You're gonna need to explain a lot to me, because I am getting none of this 'state' stuff." Mikey said, a shadow with an eye rolling it at him. He glared at the shadow, who then retreated under his firey gaze. He turned back to Max with faint amusement in his eye. "Low maintenance, that's what everyone says. Prove it, and I'll think about it." Everyone back at home wanted to get to know him better, and not in the good way, but more in the... scientist kind of way. How the people look at you like a subject waiting to be explored, instead of a possible friend. Each time Mikey was oblivious to this fact, and ended up losing them because they didn't get the answers they wanted. Soon Mikey just... gave up on friends, and became a loner himself. "What the hell is Pokemon?" Mikey said, looking at the slab of what looked like metal in his hands, his shadows reaching upwards to look at it with their own eyes. They hovered overtop it, and Mikey closed his eyes as he transferred his vision over to theirs, so he could see out of them and get a better look, and he recoiled as he saw the slab light up. His eyes shot open, scooting backwards as his eyes widened. "W-Wha?!" He stammered, gripping the sides of the table harshly.

Seeing the commotion from across the hall, Celeste dropped off her plates at what the humans called a 'trashcan' and then went over to the two male individuals. The one that seemed shrouded in shadow she stayed a bit away from and drifted more towards the one the seemed a bit more knowing and acquainted with his surroundings. He would make for a good ally if I was still in the Militia, perhaps. She thought to herself as she crossed her arms behind her, her hands entwined, and greeted the two. "Pardon me for interrupting, but your conversation caught my ear and just wanted to ask: why the loudness? Neither of you appear to be that of dragons blood, so why do you speak with such boon?"
