There better be added content. I'm not buying the same exact game again there will likely be a real and functional arceus/shaymin/darkrai event this time without having to break the game and go into the void.

I don't think its awful; the models remind me of the lopsided sprites from that gen lmao
and tbh the bar is so low for pokemon games now. They'll probably just make really bad texture meshes for everything and call that good enough. I won't get it anyways because I won't buy a switch, but hopefully they at least fix a few of the story holes from dp and make the story comparable to old pt
legends looks super neat tho! it feels like pixelmon lmao

Ok ok, looking at ORAS gameplay I'm gonna say it. If ORAS was on the switch it would look better than the remakes. The funko pop lookin' hand having designs are bad.

When they were in the first few seconds of Legends I thought for a hot second we were going to get a Conquest remake and I lost my mind.
I'd love a Conquest remake though. Or Rangers. They need love so bad.

I'd love to see a new Rangers game! They've always been a favorite of mine.
I like that in Legends you can roll dodge, implying that Pokemon are gonna personally beat the crap out of you.

Art style salt opinion: Ppl will talk garbage about the chibi artstyle & then go play animal crossing. They should have stayed pixel games anyway & thats the tea!

I'm the only one fully excited for both games & not at all disappointed and I'm not afraid to show it. Also the fact that they're giving Gamefreak a break kind of adds to the relief.

Also we get to go to the underground again and that is incredibly sexy of them. I stan a faithful remake because that's all I wanted. I've complained in the past about previous remakes not being like the original or changing story details but I understand people who also want a fresher experience.

See the thing about the art style is Animal Crossing has a fitting chibi art style. As does Links Awakening, for example. I'm not mad it's chibi, i'm disappointed they look like funko pops. Even the fullbody fight sprites look bad.
They are a billion dollar company and can do better.

The style is loyal to the original, not fitting. It's hard for me to put into words exactly, but the chibi style they went with has a wonky look. They went with a two head height instead of the three head height used in both ORAS and XY, which isn't bad by itself but the proportions are wonky. It genuinely looks like a Pokemon phone game rip off.
I think it's trying to be reminiscent of the original to the point i'd rather just play the original instead. It's a remake, but I think the point of a remake is to add on and improve on the original. ORAS had wonderful character redesigns and while the story wasn't everyone cup of tea it changed enough to feel distinct. They're playing it so safe with these remakes and I don't think that's a good thing. Sure you won't upset a lot of the old fans, but it's also incredibly stagnant feeling.
Why play the reskinned 3d version of the game when you can just go back and play the far superior Platinum version that came out years ago. They're quite literally asking 60$ for a remake as uninspired as this.
Now, we can't judge fully yet as we've only seen a bit of the game. These are just thoughts on what we know so far and are open to change. But I stand by what I said. Unless they have a lot of additions that make the remake distinct it probably isn't worth buying.

I mean my only one hope/complaint is that they add more than 2 fire types please for the love of god add more than 2 fire types. I dont know whose drunk ass only left the game with 2 when they made the elite 4 member be a fire type user. Multiple people looked at that. Sat in a conference room about it. And said "yep that seems right" all through development and it STILL GETS ME.

I have mixed feelings on the remake. It's interesting that they're sticking with the top-down style, and I think that will probably allow it to be more accurate to the original layout of the region. But the art style needs tweaking, imo. The trainers fall a little into the uncanny valley because of their detailed hands on chibi bodies. I also have an issue with their eyes - since they're much more detailed than the rest of the models, the characters feel stiff and unemotive as a result. The colours and lighting of the game also need some work before release. A simplified style can work really well, so long as the colours pop. Look at the difference between these environments in the Sinnoh remake and Let's Go: Pikachu and Eevee, for example (warning for large images under the spoiler): Sinnoh looks very muddy and dark, while Kanto looks bright and vibrant. I have no doubt that the game will look better upon release, but at the moment it's incredibly visually underwhelming.

I've watched and rewatched the trailers for everything multiple times as well as a couple reactions so I'm going to try to finally put more words to my thoughts & feelings besides just memeing about it.
To start off with, I'll say that, I think Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are for the grumpy old hags such as myself who don't like too much change in their old games and memories. While Legends Arceus is intended to be the new step & new spin on the old region that other players want. The fact that we're getting seperate of BOTH just blows my mind, and I'm excited for the new just as much as the old.
I totally understand peoples complaints about not wanting to buy a game if it's visually too close to the same. That talking point has been beaten to death quickly. Personally? I like it. I think it's cute and faithful while still bringing new 3d life to the 2d game that was barely on the verge of 3d-esque assets. Even if the overworld doesn't look too crazy, the battles are at least updated to Lets-Go style. The prospect of being able to actually explore the underground with friends, do the old events, and actively trade in the first generation I ever got legal copies of to play on my DSlite just makes me positively giddy and brings me back to Christmas 2009 getting Platinum for the first time. I missed out on all of those things as a kid and I'm too paranoid to try the void glitch and possibly break my game.
On the more speculative end, I wonder how the poketch is going to work without a secondary screen. I wonder if maybe they'd even do something like make a physical poketch to link up with the game itself! Maybe even have a step counter and substitute for the pokewalker. (Yes I know that was HGSS but it was still 4th gen, leave me alone to dream!) I know those are like. Maybe pushing it in terms of accessories to buy alongside a game but for gen 4 I would totally go full pokesimp and throw down an extra $100 for a genuinely real poketch i could wear on my wrist or something. (Enhancing gameplay would... be added benefit. I just want a poketch lmfao.)
The fact that theyre also outsourcing the work to a different game company so they don't leave Gamefreak burnt out and depressed like they did with Sword and Shields production is also a good thing. And Masuda is still on the team and before he threw the rest of the franchise down the toilet he made so many quality improvements and bugfixes that made Diamond and Pearl even possible to begin with that have stuck with the game like Masuda method shinies. I think I said it earlier but this is like, the one game I would absolutely want Masuda working on.
Legends Arceus has pretty much nothing but my full attention. It's just so... Different. Fans have been asking for an open world pokemon game for so long and didn't quite get what they wanted with the limited wild area and it's graphical shortcomings. Fans have been asking for an ancient pokemon game for even longer. And THIS is definitely the kind of region I wanna see that content in because it's pretty much the first gen the lore got SUPER deep and interesting to speculate about. It's also very pretty, and I know others have already pointed out the frame rate and stuttering issue we saw in the trailer but I'm not too worried about it, at least not yet. It's coming out in 2022, probably around April cause I've noticed a trend among other video game companies wanting to release games around Spring and Summer break. We'll definitely get another trailer eventually and if the new trailer still shows stuttering then we may have an issue.
I am also an Angry National Dex Man but it being an ancient game where you're actually the one writing down the very first Sinnoh dex, and assuming you only have access to one region, it may make sense that you don't have all pokemon due to the time period. However if Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl don't have a natdex I'm going to be royally pissed off. However seeing as they had the weird mix and matchup of the Legends starters, I'm giving them a little bit of confidence.
As for another speculation, or maybe just a next desire that's kinda high on the list: If Legends ____ becomes a series of it's own, having an ancient Unova game with the Unova remakes (Cause, we can assume in chronological order that'd be next right? Even if it takes another 5-10 years....) that actually showed us the original dragon before it split apart or even told us the story of how it split apart in the first place would just be. *chefs kiss*

Oooo a Sinnoh remake that looks like Let's Go but plays as a normal game would have been lovely! The Let's Go games may have been 'eh', but they have been the best looking games in a long time.

Ikr? It would be cool if ancient series games became a new trend for a little while because sinnoh, unova, and kalos definitely all have some interesting ancient times stories they could tell with their respective lores and tie ins. Also something about the war would be just. Hhhhhhhhhh HHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHH
