{ ᵒ ᵒ ᶜ } its awful. im going to school in missouri, and im from new jersey, so youd think there'd be some farms out there. all of them are stupidly expensive. they have boarding on campus (but when i tried to get in touch with them, no one answered the phone, no map, no email, nothing) but its like $600 for rough board. no can do. there is a therapy barn in the same town though so i'll just volunteer there. and ok ok.
{ ʳ ᵖ } As she waved goodbye to her parents who were now pulling out of the driveway, Anna, having put Clover away already, pulled her luggage (with more difficulty than she anticipated)and headed towards the dorms she was assigned to. She hoped she looked professional enough; a navy blue polo, tan breeches, white riding socks, a plain black belt, and her signature "if-a-horse-steps-on-my-foot-I'm-dead" moccasins. She had a cap on her head, as she always did, a a coffee cup in the unused hand, and a backpack full of other various items she might need. Thankfully, her tack trunk was in the barn already full of Clover's tack and grooming needs, so the backpack just had the stuff she needed for her room.
Having reached the building, she stopped pulling her suitcase for ooone second to open the door, with, of course, great difficulty. She leaned on the door to keep it open, dragged the suitcase so it was sort of not really in the building, sort of waded awkwardly in, kicked her suitcase the rest of the way, and finally closed the door. Slick. Anna looked around to see if anyone was looking and, thankfully, they weren't. With a sigh of relief she headed to her room, maybe to meet her roommate for this year. Once she reached the room, she opted out of doing that same ungraceful door opening maneuver in case her roommate was there to avoid making a fool of herself already. Instead, she simply let go of the suitcase and knocked on the door. "Hello? Anyone in there?" Hopefully she was already there, but honestly she wasn't counting on it, not with her luck.

[ wooow. I'm sorry man. :c omg sorry that's so short ]
Ray ;;
Ray had always been one to arrive early and never, ever late. She was raised in the proper southern way and knew better than to be late and appear rude. So, of course, she was already in her dorm when someone knocked on the door. Ray quickly made her way to the door from where she was sitting on her bed and opened it with a smile. "Hello! You must be Anna?"

{ ᵒ ᵒ ᶜ } its fine. i get a month off for winter so it shouldnt be too bad. and its ok fam my posts are always long at the beginning because i have so much to describe but as the night goes on they get shorter and shorter
{ ʳ ᵖ } As if startled, Anna's eyes widened. Holy moley, life actually worked out in her favor. "Hi!" she beamed, walking in and setting down the suitcase and coffee, so her hands would be free. "That's me!" her right hand stretched out to her new roommate. "And you're Nolwenn?" while waiting for the girl to shake her hand, Anna scanned the room completely. There was more than enough room for her stuff, more than enough, but the floors were black. Cool, but kind of eery. And a little depressing. those floors were definitely going to make it terrifying for her to be walking around in the dark. They're like the void. But, she'll learn to love them.

The taller girl smiled and shook Anna's extended hand. "Nolwenn Boudreaux, but you can call me Ray. And I know, the floors are weird. The floors in all of the dorms are weird, trust me," she said with a small chuckle. Ray looked down at the large suitcase next to them and immediately set it on the undressed bed that was a few feet away from hers. "I'm guessing this is your first year here so I'll help you out with anything you need. I've been here since freshmen year. After a while, everything's a little underwhelming."

{ ᵒ ᵒ ᶜ } perfect combination to be honest thats like my nighttime ritual. i recommend a gift horse 10/10 its so accurate great depiction of equestrians great riding. and i apologize in advance i have a really bizarre writing style just bear with me .-.
{ ʳ ᵖ } "Thank you! And, yea, the floors are a little unsettling." Anna chuckled slightly and had a sort of goofy smile. This girl was a frickin mind reader. Honestly, must be. Anna must befriend her so they can use her mind reading and people reading abilities. Of course, she was over exaggerating as always. Just in case though, she said a knock-knock joke in her head to see if her roommate would laugh; can't be too careful. While on the inside, she was basically treating this perfectly normal, average girl like a scifi movie, but on the outside she was as cool as a cucumber. Sort of. Well, cool as a cucumber that's been left on the kitchen counter for about half an hour. That, sort of cool but not really? Yea. That. That's what she was like.
"Yea," she began, taking off her backpack and unzipping her suitcase. "This is my first year here, but be warned - even though I may look 12 I am a sophomore." Anna turned to the girl, smirking to ensure that she was just making a joke. Though the suitcase was unzipped, she didn't do anything with it, instead electing to sit on the bear bed. "So, what's your horse like?"

[ oh god is it one of those crappy eq movies and its okay bro ]
Ray ;; Ray let out a full laugh this time and began unpacking Anna's folded clothes and putting them in her bureau. "I'm a junior. My horse is named Buck Nekked and he's a thoroughbred, on the track - we do steeplechase. We're in Greyiron, what about you guys? What do you do?." After putting away clothes for a little while, Ray took a break and sat down on her on bed, taking a good look at the girl across from her. Her new roomie seemed a little odd but it wasn't anything that there could be fights over. Hopefully they would get along just fine, and hopefully Anna would be okay with Ray's partying.
Briar ;; Briar was not in a happy mood, but that was nothing out of the norm. After a hellishly long flight and Blud Red not exactly taking to her stall-neighbor, the day had been exhausting and frustrating. The last part of her day - meeting her roommate - needed to be easy, otherwise someone would be getting chewed out. So, with anger and anticipation boiling just below her skin, Briar burst into her new room and threw her suitcase on the bed. "Briar Melbourne. Senior." How's that for an introduction?

Pulling her suitcase behind her, Scarlette climbed the stairs then walked down the hallway looking for her new room. Room #8. She sighed. Hopefully her roommate would be nice. Scarlette was never good at making friends. She stopped and took a breath. She then opened the door and became speechless as soon as she saw her roommate. She's beautiful she thought to herself, but then she snapped herself out of it. She would be living with this girl. Don't be weird Scarlette told herself. After what felt like an hour of staring at this girl, Scarlette finally said "Hi. I'm Scarlette."

{ ᵒ ᵒ ᶜ } LMAO YEA she dumps the horse at the fence and the horse knocks a rail (because apparently he had some horse hoof disease) and the girl gets off in the middle of the course, at a show no less, and screams about how much she hates that horse. and her and her dad have a bonding moment while the horse is standing in the middle of the ring. at a horse show. honestly its great i love it so much. and im changing my profile picture so if you do what i do and look for my propic to see if i respond then just know its about to be a horse in a minute
{ ʳ ᵖ } Anna narrowed her eyes suspiciously. Definitely a mind reader. She made sure she would keep an eye on this girl. After a second, her eyes widened again as they usually are, "Oh, you don't have to unpack my stuff for me! Thank you though, but I can do it." immediately she felt badly. Just met this girl, this mindreader, and already she had her putting away her clothes? Great first start. Almost forgetting about the coffee she had, she grabbed it and took a sip, scowling when she realized it was cold already. "Steeplechase? Oh that stuff is hardcore, your horse must be an athlete. I don't know which requires more courage, steeplechasing or cross country."
With the hand that she was holding with her coffee she motioned to herself (she uses her hands to talk a lot). "I'm a sophomore, as you already know. My horse is named Clover, Four-legged Clover, and I affectionately call her 'The Clove'. It just rolls off the tongue, it's really nice." Anna crossed her legs and cleared her throat. "She is a beautiful, beautiful, really terrible bay OTTB who's converted into a jumper. She's staying in... Redwyne, I believe." Hopefully she enjoyed it there. Clover is an alpha with other horses, but a subtle one. Instead of blatantly attacking them, she does it all sneaky like. Who knew horses could be manipulative?

Ray ;; Ray shrugged with a soft smile and reclined onto her pillows. It was just the nice thing to do, helping someone out in their first year. "Yeah, he's pretty muscular and well-tuned. Can't say that he's nice to other horses but he's a winner. Every barn we've been at - which, albeit, isn't that many - we've had to make sure that he was put in a submissive herd so that he could be the alpha. It's ridiculous." Nolwenn was constantly catering to her baby of a horse and sometimes it got tiring. She did truly love him, though. "Awh, that sucks. We can't go tack up together. No matter, though, we can still ride together. Buck is a bay, too. I'll show you around the stables and riding areas later if that's alright?"
Briar ;; Briar grunted and quickly put away the items she had brought with her, wanting to make her bed and relax in it as soon as possible. At the bottom of her suitcase lay a set of mahogany brown sheets and a dark green comforter, so when she was finished with her clothes she pulled them out and hastily dressed her bed. "Really not in the talking mood right now, Scarlette, hate to tell ya," she said in an aggravated tone.

"Oh... Okay. I'm sorry..." Scarlette said embarrassed. She started putting her clothes neatly in her dresser. It was awkwardly quiet, but she didn't want to get on her roommates bad side on the first day by trying to converse with her. After she was done putting her clothes away, Scarlette finally got up the courage to say something. "Would you like to go on a trail ride?" she asked. "You don't have to talk."

{ ʳ ᵖ } "I feel you one hundred percent, dude." Anna rolled her eyes and sighed slightly, taking another sip of her coffee after forgetting once again that it was cold. "Clover is a huge alpha mare. I don't know how, but she's conniving. She's never physically attacked the horses in her paddock, but she's still top dog. No clue how. Sometimes, if I had taken her out and she missed feeding time, when I put her back her bucket remains untouched even though she's in a paddock with 4 or 5 other steeds. It's astounding, really." she could talk for hours about this horse. Clove had so much personality for one animal. Granted, she was a 1500 pound animal, but it was still a lot of personality.
"I'd like that." Anna smiled warmly. It was nice to have a friend, or at least the beginning of one, already. And this girl was really nice, so being friends would be really easy.

Rhory ;;
It had been a long ride from Rhory's house to Mountain Gate, not only because there was a great distance in between the two but because Goldie didn't exactly like trailers. She was generally a calm mare but once you got her onto a trailer - if you got her onto a trailer - she was a scared little filly. Rhory and his parents, who had driven him to the academy, were none too upset to get the horse off the trailer and into her new stall in Redwyne. The goodbyes had been quick since the family had grown accustomed to this after two years and since Rhory had gotten accustomed to spending most of the first day in the stables, that's exactly what he planned to do. Finn;;Finnigan, or Finn, as he preferred, had been at Mountain Gate for a couple days already. As a senior, he was asked to show up a little bit early and help get a few things ready that the ranch hands were too busy to get around to. He didn't mind though, an exclusive high-end equine academy like this took a lot of upkeep. Today's assignment for Finn was the barn; Redwyne specifically. He didn't have to do something too strenuous, just check the screws on the stall locks and the hinges and tracks and whatnot. While doing that, he couldn't help but notice the people there, well, more like the boy there. That was certainly someone Finn would want to keep around.

[ it's okay! let's get some fluff going huehuehuehue btw changing his name ]
Rhylin hadn't been doing much in the barn except sitting outside of his horse's stall and coming up with ideas for his next few practices and lessons. Every now and then upperclassmen were allowed to teach underclassmen lessons as long as it was supervised and approved by a trainer and Rhylin took every chance he could to do so. Only when another person entered the stables did he look up from his notebook. Finding that it was another guy, a handsome one at that, the brunette boy buried his head back in his notebook. However, every few seconds he would get the feeling that someone was watching him. Eventually he became uncomfortable and placed his notebook on his tack trunk before entering Goldie's stall.

(dude, fluff is my middle name!!)
Finn wasn't staring at Rhylin, he was just keeping a very close eye on Rhylin while he worked, though he did manage to stab his finger with a screw once or twice. He had no idea who this guy was, that much was true, but anything else? Finn was drawing a blank on, granted he wasn't the most intellectual thing in the world. Finn was the typical jock: all looks, little brain - it was a miracle he was even allowed to return to Mountain Gate this year since his final grades last year were a little worse than awful. It was his senior year and he seriously needed a GPA boost, and unfortunately, to Finn, he would no doubt need a tutor in just about every subject, however that was possible. Eventually, Finn came to Goldie's stall, noting that this was where that boy he had been eyeing not a few minutes earlier was. And lucky for Finn, he had an excuse to linger. "Hey." Finn greeted Rhylin with a small but charming smile, popping his head into the stall, "Doing some screw work, didn't wanna give you a heart attack." he said a wink, being slightly sexual as one does, then knelt down and did what he was actually supposed to instead of flirting.
