To _____ and the parents of _____:
Congratulations on behalf of Mountain Gate Equestrian Academy! The Admission Committee carefully crafts each incoming class to maximize its diversity and talents, and you are among an incredibly talented group of candidates with exceptional gifts. We invite you to being your horseback riding study with the Mountain Gate faculty this September as a boarding student for the Class of 2016.
Mountain Gate receives almost 1,000 applications each year, and your admission to the Academy from this talented group of students from around the world reflects our confidence in your record and horseback riding promise. This year's applicants address friends and family in 15 different languages, and collectively hold honors from numerous national clubs and societies, and in academic fields, art forms and other athletic organizations. The caliber of this year's applications had been noteworthy and inspiring, and will ensure the highest quality peer group for you.
Undoubtedly, Mountain Gate is a singular experience where horseback riding lives and it's "cool" to be talented. The Academy is a scholastic environment that embraces differences and will challenge you to be a global thinker, horseback riding advocate and active contributor. Chosen candidates share a distinct passion for learning, a thoughtful perspective of the world at large, and an equal commitment to community and personal excellence. It's simply not enough to be gifted; a successful candidate must have compassion and demonstrate a commitment to excellence and the improvement of the world in which we live.
_____, the Admission Committee recognizes the personification of these important attributes in your character and horseback riding expression. Through the application progress you have distinguished yourself as someone who will add an original voice to the intellectual, equestrian, and social vitality that defines Mountain Gate.
Congratulations again, _____, on your acceptance and the extraordinarily hard work that secured your offer of admission to Mountain Gate. It is our sincere hope that you will join us in September as Mountain Gate Equestrian Academy begins it 37th academic year. We have enjoyed getting to know you and we are proud to welcome you into the Mountain Gate Academy family.
Sincerely, Irienys Droverson, Head Mistress and founder
Keir Allaway, Head Master John Fonner, Assistant Head Master Sybella Martin, Assistant Head Mistress Alayne Royce, Head of Admissions [ A C T I V I T Y ] I demand - a harsh word, but true - nothing but the best activity from my members. This means that you will need to be on at least four times a week and post role-play posts. I will be calling people back only once or twice a week. After three weeks to a month of having to do this, I will cease to do it and you will have to come back on your own. If you do not come back after two weeks, you will be deleted.
[ L I T E R A C Y ] You don't have to write paragraphs or talk in subs to be literate. All we ask for is proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and description. It's fine if you have the occasional spelling error, but all the time just isn't acceptable. Please give us something to reply to, as well! Don't post two vague sentences and then expect someone to reply because that leaves us nothing to reply to. We expect at least three well-detailed, well-written sentences per human character post. For horses, two sentences is fine. There will be no text-talk inside of the role-play, whatsoever. You must follow the joining form guidelines to a T. Keep in mind that I fully reserve the right to ask for a role-play sample before I accept you into the role-play.
[ C O U R T E S Y ] Follow all of of the forum rules and ghost rules. Be kind to every member of the role-play, even if you dislike them. Kill 'em with kindness, eh? If I or one of my moderators sees any bullying or fighting, we will immediately kick you off the thread without any chance of rejoining.
[ S P A M M I N G ] Spamming is not acceptable on this thread. You may ask someone to come back to a role-play, but don't be excessive with it. If you ask them more than three times in one day, I will kindly ask you to leave the thread. No advertising on this thread unless you're a member, either.
[ C H A R A C T E R S ] Please try to keep characters realistic. Horses can't be neon-colored, and people can't have special powers or abilities. Try to keep genders even. If you see that we have too many people with one gender and you want to join as someone of that gender, at least make a person of the opposite gender, too. Also, don't make a character that never talks to anyone. How are people supposed to RP with you then? No "emos", anime characters, or Mary-Sues/Gary-Stus either.
[ O V E R - P L A Y ] We do not tolerate god-moding, powerplaying, or spotlighting on this thread whatsoever. We will give you three warnings before deleting you.
[ P G ] Keep the role-play PG. Kissing, hugging, and cuddling is fine, just no more than that. We have tried very hard to make this a great and successful role-play and I would hate to have it deleted.
[ A S K ] Ask ladyofthesky before you make any major plot twists. Ask the moderators before you break any of the academy rules.
[ P L A G I A R I S M ] If one of my moderators or myself sees that you have taken anything from this role-play in any way, shape, or form - including stealing characters - don't think that we will hesitate to click the report button. Plagiarism is a crime, no matter whom or what it is from and I would not like to see someone be so unoriginal as to steal from another person's role-play. first post -- intro, rules, key second post -- about, academy rules, schedule, teachers, instructors third post -- campus, Stony Lake, roommates, stables fourth post -- the western form, the English form fifth post -- directory, joining, relationships sixth post -- humans seventh post -- horses eighth post -- credit

Established in 1927, Mountain Gate Equestrian Academy has accepted nothing but the most promising horseback riders into its classes. The specialty boarding school was founded by the Droverson family, an Irish-French family that immigrated to America during the beginning of the Roaring 20s. The true founder of the school was the lady of the family, Irienys. Her husband, a truly rich accountant, paid for all of the expenses. To this day, money runs in the family.
Through the generations the headmistress or headmaster position has been handed down to the current heir of the Droversons. The headmistress at the moment is Jade Droverson. She is known for modernizing the campus.
Over the many years that it has been alive, Mountain Gate Equestrian Academy has never gotten one bad review. Some of the best riders have gone here, including jockeys who raced in the Kentucky Derby. Award winning horses have been bred here as well. Most of the grounds are kept away from the public eye, but the nuclear family of students are allowed to visit.
[ I ] After 8 o'clock Sunday through Thursday, unless there is a holiday, boys' may not be in girls' dorms and girls' may not be in boys' dorms. After 10 o'clock on Fridays and Saturdays, boys' may not be in girls' dorms and girls' may not be in boys' dorms.
[ II ] All students must wear appropriate clothing. Girls are not to have skirts, shorts, or dresses above the mid-thigh. Boys are not to have shorts above the mid-thigh. Both genders are not to wear sleeveless shirts during school hours(8 am - 4 pm).
[ III ] No one may mistreat any horse or other animal. Everyone is assigned a horse, and they are to be taken care of and ridden regularly.
[ IV ] Unless ill, injured, or away from the Academy to visit family, no one may be absent from academic classes or training. You will be given two days of after-school detention if you do not have a truthful excuse.
[ V ] Only pets kept in terrariums or aquariums are allowed. They are not to be released from their terrariums or aquariums.
[ VI ] Grades must always be C+ or above.
[ VII ] All students must notify their parent or legal guardian when injured or ill.
[ VIII ] All students are to address teachers as miss, mister, or misses. All students are to address the head mistress and head master and Madam Droverson and Doctor Allaway.
[ IX ] All students must gain permission from a teacher before going into town and must notify two teachers where they are going.
This schedule is for all grades. Your character has the liberty to choose what level of each class they would like to take, such as advanced and excelled classes.

[ S I L V E R H I L L H A L L ] Silverhill Hall was the first dormitory to be built on the campus back in 1927. Since then, it has had renovations almost every decade – just like the other dormitories – to modernize it. The exterior is covered by reclaimed elm wood and the inside has black marble floors with veins of silver. The countertops are all granite and the kitchen appliances are stainless steel. The bedroom floors are covered in gray carpet.
[ R A V E N T R E E H A L L ] Raventree Hall is, by far, the most elegant of the two boys’ dormitories. The exterior is a handsome onyx and the windows are fitted with platinum. The floors are white marble veined with black and the appliances, similar to Silverhill, are stainless steel. The countertops are covered with Uba Tuba granite. The bedroom floors are covered in white wood.
[ K I N G S G R A V E H A L L ] Kingsgrave Hall and Stonedance are built in the same layout but in different color schemes. Kingsgrave is colored with golds and whites. The exterior is made of white with some gold fixtures, such as the balconies and porch. The floors are pure white marble with gold veins, and, as per usual, the appliances are stainless steel. The countertops are Venetian gold granite. The bedrooms are fitted in light bamboo flooring.
[ S T O N E D A N C E H A L L ] Stonedance Hall is themed with grays and blacks. The exterior is a flat, stone-textured gray with black accents. The floors are gray marble veined with black and the odd blue. The countertops are blue pearl granite. The countertops are stainless steel. The bedrooms floors are black wood.
[ G A L L ' S G R E E N H O U S E ] Gall’s Greenhouse is named such because a student from the 1950s named John Gall asked the administration to create a greenhouse. Obviously his efforts weren’t in vain. The greenhouse is fairly large and any students are allowed to come in and plant, but they must first get permission to do so from Professor Vera.
[ M A I N A C A D E M I C B U I L D I N G ] The main academic building has not been modernized, but it has been made to look more rustic. The exterior is made of red brick, but the inside walls are a dark red. The floors are made of reclaimed beech wood that go very nicely with the red walls. There is a main floor, a cafeteria floor with multiple rooms to eat in, and a floor for each grade. This means that the building is six stories and that it is also fairly wide. The main floor contains the administration’s offices and the front office. It also contains the teacher’s break room. The cafeteria floor’s rooms are very lax and laid back, with plush couches and bean bags, but it also has an actual cafeteria room.

[ T H E D U S T Y S A D D L E R I N N & F A M I L Y D I N E R ] The Dusty Saddler is the first thing you see when you drive into Stony Lake. It's as old as the Academy and is still owned by the founds, Mary and Todd Andrews. Ten rooms are available in the inn and the restaurant serves excellently cooked home-made food.
[ S T R I P M A L L ] The strip mall is quite a hot spot for the students of the Academy. It includes a Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, Urban Outfitters, Hot Topic, Spencer's, and a Saddlery Liquidators.
[ P A U L ' S C O F F E E S H O P ] Paul's Coffee Shop has been open for ten years and is another hot spot for the Academy students. It has a warm and inviting vibe to it with a few fireplaces and is a great hangout place. The loft is also a great room to chill out in with friends.
[ P ' S A N D Q ' S ] P's and Q's is a pizza and sub shop owned by Pamela and Quinn, the Larch sisters. Both were raised in Stony Lake but lived in New York City for a while, so here is where you can get the most authentic New York pizza and subs.
[ S A L L Y ' S P E T S H O P ] Sally Marcus moved in with the Academy. She sells all types of animals, ranging from goldfish to German shepherd puppies and sphinx kittens. She's known to give the horseback riders a discount.
[ M C C A Y ' S U S E D S T O R E ] John McCay was the original owner of this old shop when it was founded in 1952. Now it's under the ownership of his grandson Dave McCay and his wife Diane. They offer vinyls, record players, VCRs, VHS tapes, DVDs, CDs . . . basically anything you could think of that has to do with books, music, or videos.
[ A N G I E ' S S A L O N ] Angela Basset is the sole proprietor of Angie's Salon and has three girls working for her. She's known, just like Sally Marcus, to give discounts to horseback riders - but only when she knows they have a showing coming up soon.

[ B A R R E L R A C I N G ] An event in which a horse and rider try to go around the barrels in the fastest time. A rider must judge the speed of the horse when going around the barrels. Knocking over a barrel results in a time penalty. The barrels are set in a triangle formation. The rider goes to the left side of the right barrel, goes around it to the right side of the left barrel, goes around it, and finally to the right side of the farthest barrel, going around it and heading straight back to the starting point, where motion-sensing timers catch the start and stop times. Riders can choose to start with the right or left barrel, but the pattern is the same.
[ T R A I L R I D I N G ] An obstacle course. Logs, bridges, tarps, and other obstacles are used to test how well the horse responds to events that might happen on your every day ride. Backing up, sometimes while turning, standing quietly while a rider opens , goes through, and closes a gate while on the horse, and standing quietly while the rider waves a flapping object are all included, more or less. This event is not timed, rather each contestant is scored 1-10 on each challenge, though there is a time limit.
[ C U T T I N G ] Designed to test how well the horse can herd cows. The horse must anticipate the actions of a cow and keep it from reuniting with the herd for a set time. This event requires almost nothing on the rider's part, and the horse must know what it is doing. Points are given for courage, eye appeal, herd work, controlling the cow, and difficulty.
[ W E S T E R N S H O W I N G ] Contestants go in a pattern, including over and around logs, performing different leads, though most is done while loping. Horses are all scored on their quality of gaits, lead changes, response to the rider, manners and disposition.
[ C A L F R O P I N G ] Also known as tie-down roping, the rider must put his horse into a gallop from a complete standstill to save valuable time in this time-sensitive event. If the rider releases his horse too early, a 10-second penalty is added on to their total time. The rider must lasso the calf around the neck while mounted, and once the rope is secure, the rider signals the horse to stop quickly. Then the rider runs to the calf and flips it onto it's side, tying 3 of it's legs together and then raising their hands to signal "stop." The horse must keep the tension in the rope by slowly backing away the whole time. Riders are penalized if the calf is jerked to the ground or hurt in any other way.
[ T E A M R O P I N G ] Requiring 2 mounted riders, the first rider, known as a "header" must rope a steer, usually around the horns or around the nose and one horn, but it can also go around the neck. Then the header must turn the steer to the left, while the second rider, the "heeler" must rope both hind legs of the steer. This is a timed event.
[ R E I N I N G ] All work in this competition is done at a lope or a gallop, and requires the horse and rider to be in tune and communicating effectively. Riders must guide the horses through a very precise pattern of circles, spins, and stops. Scoring is based on the horse's ability to perform a set pattern of movements.
[ T E A M P E N N I N G ] A team of 3 riders are given 60-90 seconds, depending on the level, to separate 3 cattle from a herd of 30. The cattle all have numbers attached to their backs, and the judge calls the numbers of the cattle to be be herded as the timing starts. The riders must separate the cattle, and herd them into a pen at the opposite end of the arena. Teamwork is the key to completing this in the fastest time possible.
[ D R E S S A G E ] Dressage is a test of obedience, flexibility, grace, and skill. It involves a horse and rider riding a test, which is a series of movements that they must complete in the correct order. Tests are divided by difficulty, with higher level tests requiring more technical movements, such as counter-canters, lead changes, and various high-level movements. Each movement is judged individually by a judge or group of judges, based on an agreed-upon standard. The horse and rider will be graded on each movement on a scale of 0 to 10. Dressage tests take place in an arena, which has letters spaced evenly throughout it and the test uses these letters to mark where movements should begin and end. Accuracy is very important, as missing a cue will affect the score for that movement. A winner is determined by adding up the scores from each movement of the test, with the highest scoring pair being the winners.
[ E V E N T I N G ] Derived from cavalry tests, Eventing is often called the triathlon of the equestrian world. Comprised of three distinct phases, eventing horses and riders need to be capable in all three if they have a chance of competing in higher levels. These phases, depending on the level of competition, can be spread out over the course of one, two, or three days. The three phases usually go in the order of Dressage, Cross Country, and Show Jumping, with each phase following its own set of rules, which are very similar to the separate sports they are derived from. Penalty points are taken from each of the three phases and the horse and rider with the lowest amount of penalties are the winners.
[ J U M P I N G ] There are two main jumping disciplines in the equestrian world: hunter and jumper. Hunter is a subjective discipline, focusing on the horse as an ideal ride. This involves good form over jumps, an even, rhythmic stride, not adding strides before a jump or taking off early, and maintaining the proper lead. Dropping rails, refusals, or misbehaving in the class also will be counted against the horse. Attire and turnout is extremely important.Conversely, jumper classes are objective, focusing solely on making it around the course clean and in good time. A horse must be powerful, flexible, and brave to the fence, and the rider is responsible for taking the best line to give the horse the best chance of succeeding, while minding the clock.
[ C R O S S C O U N T R Y ] Cross Country consists of a jumping course, stretched out over uneven terrain. Horses need to have both speed, endurance, and bravery over fences, as the course is timed and going over the time allowed will result in faults. The jumps are often natural and solid, consisting of logs, stone walls, and ditches, as well as water elements and some very technical combinations that require collection and extension. The solid elements mean that there is no penalty for touching jumps, however penalties are added for going over time allowed or refusing an obstacle. Cross Country competitions are rare and usually, Cross Country is only seen as the second phase of an Eventing competition.
[ E Q U I T A T I O N ] This is the evaluation of a rider's ability, requiring proper aids and turnout. Equitation classes can be on the flat or involve fences, but both require similar things from the rider, which is maintaining light contact, using aids properly, having a good seat and hands, and completing all instructions given. The behavior of the horse is not being judged, however misbehavior in the ring can be looked at as the fault of the rider and lead to points being docked.
[ S I D E S A D D L E ] While sidesaddle competitions are rare, there are dedicated individuals who still keep up the tradition. Usually a woman's style, sidesaddle involves a specialized saddle that allows the rider to sit with both legs on the same side of the horse. One will be in normal position, while the other is positioned on top of a second pommel, called a leaping horn. A short whip is used on the other side, to be used for aids that the leg would normally be involved in. Sidesaddle riders can be found competing in many disciplines, from western to jumper to dressage, though they are few and far between. Sidesaddle classes at shows are more based on appearance and riding ability, similar to equitation, with some even allowing competitors to wear period clothing.
[ P O L O ] A fast-paced team sport, polo is often played in large, grassy field. Two teams of four use long wooden mallets attempt to score goals by hitting a small, white ball between the posts at either end of the field. Polo is a contact sport, with riders able to check other players by pressing the shoulders of the horses against each other to force riders away from the ball. The rider hitting the ball always has the right of way, but defenders can ride-off the offense, or use their mallet to hook the mallet of the rider attempting to hit the ball. By crossing in front of the rider hitting the ball or hooking the horse or player with a mallet, penalty shots may be awarded. A polo pony is arguably the most important part of the team, as they are trained to be incredibly responsive and calm. They are not always ponies, ranging between 14hh and 16hh. A string of ponies may be kept by a team, as they tire quickly and horses are swapped out at the end of each chukka, which is a period of play lasting about 7 minutes. There can be four to eight chukkas in a match and the winning team is decided at the end of the match.
[ R A C I N G ]
Arguably the oldest equestrian sport, racing is a measurement of speed, stamina, and little else. There are several forms of racing. Flat Racing, the most common, involves no obstacles and is run on turf or dirt. Flat Racing is generally associated with Thoroughbreds, but Quarter Horses and Arabians both have popularity as race horses. Steeplechase and hurdling, two very similar types, both involve racing horses over obstacles, which vary in height and width. These races are long, some a minimum of two miles, and can be very exhausting on young horses. Harness racing is where horses, typically Standardbreds, pull two-wheeled carts, called sulkies either a trot or a pace.

[ S E N I O R S ]
Chezden Donovan ;; 18 -- male English -- eventing -- Bar on the Dozer First thing's first: Chezden absolutely has a baby face. At 6'0" Chez is a very compact person. He's not all that big, muscle wise, but there's more to him than what meets the eye. And speaking of eyes, his are pretty blue. However, that occasionally changes. It can range from grey-blue, to ocean-blue, to a blue so deep it looks like blue sapphire gemstones were shoved into his eyes sockets. Chezden has hair that is as black as black gets. It falls all messy like to the right side of his face and often falls over his right eye but he does little to correct this. Chez's clothes don't vary very much, jeans and hoodies; that's about it when he's not riding. The only thing that keeps people from being all over him is his dangerously honest personality. He basically knows no bounds of things he should and shouldn't say. Some might even say he's sassy ad conceited. If it's on his mind, he'll most likely say it without any regret or filtering. When he is not ruining your day with his thoughts, he is really nice. When he's in the mood, he gives really good advice and can be the perfect person to talk to since he's been through a lot. Forgotten
Briar Melbourne ;; 18 -- female western -- barrel racing -- Blud Red Briar is, in fact, a rose - or at least you could compare her to one. Beautiful on the outside but protected by a wall of thorns, her hair is a very dark brown and is almost black. If it is not up in a braided bun, it falls in gentle waves to her shoulders. Whether it is up or down her hair is kept pristine and is perfect in every place. Her eyes and eyebrows match the hue of her hair and her eyelashes are long and feminine. Her face is sculpted beautifully with a long, thin nose that is slightly crooked and plump pink lips. Her skin is a milky white and it contrasts starkly against the coloring of her hair and eyes. Briar is of an average height, standing at five foot six, and has slightly toned muscles. Briar is, as stated, protected by a wall of thorns. She is all jokes and snide remarks to protect what she is on the inside. Too many times has she been destroyed by keeping her wall of thorns down, so now it is permanently up. No one in Mountain Gate truly knows who she is and where she’s from, what her history consists of, and she prefers to keep it that way so that she - and others - can avoid being hurt. ladyofthesky
Nocona Yazzie ;; 18 -- male western -- trail riding -- Comanche's Cry Nocona is a handsome young man that belongs to the Comanche nation and proudly says so. He has a long face that is normal for his family and lighter brown skin with dark brown freckles here and there on his face. His eyes are a deep brown and are generally hard set, while his hair is almost black. He generally has a “five o’clock shadow” going on but will clean up for formal occasions. He stands at 6’2” and generally finds it hard to find a horse that fits him. His hair is long and hangs down to his ribcage. Nocona is a sweet man but is very quiet and doesn’t speak much. People would never guess that he is as intelligent as he is because he never answers questions in class. Nocona got his riding start when he was a young boy and has had a passion for it ever since. ladyofthesky
Scarlette Hunter ;; 18 -- female western -- trail riding -- Black Beauty Standing at only 4'11", fair-skinned Scarlette Hunter could be overlooked easily, if only for her rather small stature. Scarlette has wavy blonde hair down to mid-back and has dyed the tips a pretty teal color. This teal color accents her eyes, which are abeautiful blue color. Weighing in at about 110 pounds to go along with her height, she doesn't appear to pose much of a threat.Scarlette has a belly ring as well as size 8 gauges in her ears. When it is cold outside, she wears sweaters and skinny jeans. and when it's warm, shorts and tank tops. She always wears Western boots. Scarlette tends to be quite outgoing and friendly, making it easy for her to draw people to her. She is quite intelligent and has a strong love of animals. When it comes to her friends, there is an endless supply of loyalty. She would never betray any of her friends. Her endless display of happiness, however, covers a much darker side. She tends to grow jealous of others and has suffered from depression for a long time. She might appear confident, but inwardly, her self-confidence isn't the best. She once believed herself to be fat and was anorexic as a result, but after a long struggle, overcame. However, she still struggles with the depression and has had a tendency now and then to self-harm. She's a true equestrian, and you can always find her at a horse stable. »ѕтeαlтнcreeĸ

Florence Mahler ;; 17 -- female English -- jumping, prefers show, over hunter -- The Great Odysseus Florence, is quite a small girl standing at 5'2. She also has an extremely petite build, though she is mainly leg, even though she is still extremely small. Disliking her size, but don't let it full you, she'll try and be all tough. Though her bark is worse than her bite. Florence has long straight silky light blonde hair, that she despises due to it being thinner, though she doesn't lack hair, it just isn't the thick hair many girls have. Her's lay flatly on her head, and it is difficult to style, so she either lets it fall loosely, or put is up in a bun. The small girl is quite pale, and has a hard time tanning, and she just burns in the sun. Florence's greatest asset would be her big brown eyes, of course many people would look at her, and expect her to have piercing blue eyes like her mother. Though no, she gained her fathers big dark brown eyes, they are definitely a feature that stands out on the blonde, and they are softer than her fathers deep stern eyes. Florence tends to wear her riding pants when she can get away with it. She isn't very girly, and she tends to be always out by the horses. She finds her English riding pants extremely comfortable, and has been known to fall asleep in them, especially if she is up for awhile studying. Florence is rather a shy girl, born into a small family of four. Her parents, older brother, and her. Her older brother has always been the more outgoing kind of guy, while she was always shy and quiet for the longest time. She is just socially awkward, and it takes a bit before she'd be comfortable talking with you. Though for awhile she is shy, tends to stay quiet in conversations, unless you specifically say something to her. Though once you get to know her you'll see how talkative she can be, and the whole being stubborn, and love able side. Though you just have to get past her awkward shyness. Which honestly isn't that hard, even with being awkward she tries to help as much as she can. Florence may seem blunt, and stuck up sometimes when she is reserved, and not so sure about you. Not that she is aiming for it, though the lack of talking, and peoples opinion on the discipline she is in stirs that idea. Though what is really going on, is that she is shy, and is afraid she is going to be too awkward, so she stays quiet. dawnbird
Nolwenn "Ray" Boudreaux ;; 16 -- female English -- steeplechase -- Buck Nekked Nolwenn is a born-and-raised southern girl from Louisiana. Her family is all class and sass so, naturally, she’s been riding horses since a very young age. “Ray,” her nickname coming from her middle name, looks like she was bred for racing. Short in stature and small in weight, she is perfect for racing. She stands at only 5’2”and has a very lithe frame that she works hard to keep in shape since she parties so much. Ray’s hair is a light blonde with dark brown roots which match the freckles that are splattered across her nose and cheeks, just under her caramel eyes. Ray is someone that, when sober, takes things much too seriously. Ray was diagnosed with manic depressive disorder but since her family holds their traditional beliefs so high, she was denied medicine. Because of this, she self-medicates with some rather adult substances. She can be the light of the party when with all of her friends but as soon as she’s truly alone she wants nothing to do with parties and socializing. ladyofthesky
Rhory Brooks ;; 17 -- male western -- cutting, western showing -- Fool's Gold Rhory is an awkwardly cute guy standing at about 6’0”. Even though his weight matches his height well, he still seems gangly because of the way he moves. His hair is slightly wavy and constantly has the look that it’s straight but turned a bit curly because of humidity. It’s a dark brown and falls to about the middle of his nape and very nicely compliments his matching, thick eyebrows and dark green eyes. Rhory is a big teddy bear and is a genuinely happy guy. He’s smart and also very shy. Not once has he asked out another person or initiated conversation with a stranger. However, all of these “negative qualities” disappear as soon as he mounts a horse. ladyofthesky
Tristan Miller ;; 17 -- male English -- saddleseat -- Fit For A King Tristan is a tall boy, standing at 6'0. He has an average and lightly muscled body. His skin is somewhat pale, with a splash of freckles across his nose and cheeks. His eyes are sapphire colored, sticking out against his somewhat pale skin. Tristan's dark auburn hair is long enough to cover the tops of his ears. He doesn't pay much attention to it, so it normally looks messy, even though he brushes it 2-3 times in the morning. Tristan normally wears either jeans and an old tee shirt or hoodie, or his jods and a tee shirt or polo. On Tristan's right wrist is a braided leather bracelet, a gift from his grandfather that lives out in Florida. Tristan is shy. He's a nice kid, but doesn't go out of his way to talk to others. In elementary and middle school, he was bullied for riding because it was a 'girl sport'. Because of this, Tristan didn't spend much time hanging out with other kids his age, but he found peace and happiness at the barn. And that's still true today. If you want Tristan to start a conversation with you, your best chance is to catch him at the barn. Though Tristan is shy, he's also loyal to the core. If you earn his friendship, he will not hesitate to protect you from whatever he can. He considers Red to be his best friend and he won't let anyone forget that. equinequeen
Francesca "Frankie" Miller ;; 17 -- female English -- jumping -- Bravado Frankie is a short, slim girl. Height is the biggest difference between her and her twin brother, Tristan. Frankie's dirty blonde hair is always pulled back into a ponytail. Her dark blue eyes pop against her pale skin. Her outfits change every day, but Frankie wouldn't be caught in a dress or skirt. She's a huge tomboy, loud, and disorganized. Many people see Frankie as obnoxious, but those that don't learn that she's a great friend who's willing to do anything for her friends. equinequeen
[ S O P H O M O R E S ]
Anna Meyers ;; 15 -- female English -- jumping -- Four-legged Clover Anna is tiny. Like, still fits in the same pair of riding pants from the Mini Bs, hasn't grown since 7th grade, 5'0" even, tiny. Riding pants are her worst enemy; they're always too baggy. It's annoying and a tragedy, really. She has ginger, straight hair that reaches her shoulders and a slight, totally-by-accident haven't-had-a-haircut-in-a-while side bang thing going on. To go with this ginger hair, she's extremely pale and has brown eyes. Anna is.. strange. She loves to learn about things, she loves to research everything. She's 15 but if you ask her what her favorie quantum principle is she'll sit you down and start to explain to you what superposition is and debate parallel happenings. Yea, strange. Slightly cooler? She loves languages, almost as much as her horse. Loves them. She already speaks French, but she's trying to learn German, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, Italian - anything, really. She finds them fascinating. Moving on to her experience with horses; she's been riding for 8 years. She started out on this little black quarter horse from Missouri who was a cream puff of a horse. He just trotted her around and did what she asked, until years later. She still owned him, and began her jumping career on him. He learned how to do a lead change, but sadly, his lead change was a huge buck and he started refusing and it terrified her. She had no confidence. Cue another horse, a white Thoroughbred, he was great. Dumbest horse she'd ever met but honestly, adorable. He seemed to find every way possible of getting hurt. Lost shoes every week it seemed, he was all around unrideable. Then, after him, she met Clover. This insane 6 year old Thoroughbred actually restored her confidence thricefold. She started doing things that she normally wouldn't have done, and Clover ended up being a perfect match. Thus, it would make sense to bring her to the Mountain Gate Equestrian Academy. abeille

[ O W N E D H O R S E S ] Bar on the Dozer ;; Dozer 5 years old -- gelding -- Chezden Donovan -- appendix At 16.3 hh at the withers, Dozer pretty much average height for the Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred crossover breed. Dozer, despite his breed, it actually a bit stockier than others. Dozer is a very flashy splashed white buckskin paint with a black dorsal stripe. The white on his body include four white socks, his left foreleg and right hind being completely white. The white of his right foreleg continues up to his shoulder and expanding vertically half of his barrel and horizontally half his barrel before it returns back down under his belly. His right fore stocking ends just below the knee and his hind stocking ends just between his hock and stifle point. Also, Dozer’s face is piebald, with two blue eyes, his entire muzzle white but his cheeks not at all. Dozer’s mane is incredibly thick and long, his mane acting as a cloak for his neck and his forelock running over half the length of his head. His tail, however, still thick as his mane but white! The first few inches of it are black, fade down and through the brown colors into a nice light blonde. Dozer is flashy and eye-catching and he knows it! If it’s possibly for a horse to be arrogant, then Dozer is very much so. When he walks, he seems to strut. Dozer is very sweet and charming but more often than not he is figuring out a new way to get into trouble or break something. Chez frequently has to change the locks on his stall since Dozer is so smart he learns how to open the door. Trouble-maker, Defiant, Loyal. Dozer is double registered in AQHA and APHA. Forgotten
The Great Odysseus ;; Odyssey 7 years old -- gelding -- Florence Mahler -- thoroughbred Odyssey is a rather tall gelding, especially for the small little Miss, Florence. He stands at 16.2 hand, and he quite a handsome young gelding. He has a dark bay sabino coat, with soft big puppy dog brown eyes that follow you everywhere. He is definitely a little beggar always looking for someone to give him treats, which he so definitely deserves. Odyssey can be quite a skittish horse, especially on new trails, jumps, and many different things. He needs a calm, yet firm rider to make sure he is calm and listens. Since Mr. Odysseus will try and get away with what he can, if you let him. He's definitely a little stinker. Though he is a good horse, especially with kids. He has a whole different demeanor with them, than he does riders who actually know what they are doing. He enjoys the attention, and the treats of his little minions very much so. Odyssey, reacts to things with more verbal effort, rather than physical. Which I'm meaning that he react to you verbally telling him to go while lunging, rather than using a crop, or lungewhip to make him go. He doesn't care, and doesn't listen the greatest with crops, though once you yell at him. He'll listen, and becomes afraid, like oh no mamma's mad. He is a funny horse, but a troublesome one at that, and he definitely needs more training. He deserves all the carrots. dawnbird
Comanche's Cry ;; Cam 9 years old -- gelding -- Nocano Yazzie -- quarter horse Comanche's Cry is a handsome blue roan quarter horse, officially registered with the AQHA. His eyes are the generic dark brown and he has black points, including black stockings and a black face with a white star. He is 16'3" hh. His mane and tail are both black and kept very well and very long. Strong, loyal, obedient, caring. ladyofthesky
Fool's Gold ;; Goldie 7 years old -- mare -- Rhory Brooks -- quarab Fool's Gold is a quarter horse-Arabian mix that could definitely pass for being a plain quarter horse. She is a regular buckskin with white pasterns on her hind legs. Her mane and tail are a mixture of black and brown, nothing too out of the ordinary, and her eyes are brown as well. She is 16'3" hh, which is odd for her breed. She is very muscular and quick on her feet. Intelligent, sassy, gets down to work when she needs to. ladyofthesky
Blud Red ;; Red 5 years old -- gelding -- Briar Melbourne -- paint Blud Red is a handsome, young, APHA registered gelding. He is mainly white with a splash of chestnut on his neck and withers. His mane is red while his tail is white. He is 15'2". Blud Red has been gaining up muscle as his owner continues to train him. He is slow to trust, hard to handle, and very sassy. ladyofthesky
Buck Nekked ;; Buck 4 years old -- stallion -- Nolwenn "Ray" Boudreaux -- thoroughbred Buck Nekked is a reputable 4 year old out of very impressive parents. He has been trained exclusively by his owner Ray's family and is kept in excellent condition. He is a regular bay thoroughbred with black points and stand at 16'2" hh. He is competitive, rude, and a leader. ladyofthesky
Black Beauty ;; Dixie 8 years old -- mare -- Scarlette Hunter -- Arabian Dixie is jet black with a trimmed, shiny coat and a side-swept black mane. She has four white socks and a straight whiteblaze along her nose. She has the typical dished Arabian face and powerful hind quarters. She has large, dark brown eyes. Dixie is a relatively well trained horse. She is very determined and playful and once she gets going, it is very difficult for her to stop. She can be lazy and even ornery at times, however for the most part she is very obedient. »ѕтeαlтнcreeĸ
Four-legged Clover ;; Clover 8 years old -- mare -- Anna Meyers -- thoroughbred Let's start this out by stating the impressive. There are horses that seem to hurt themselves on nothing, there are horses that become lame just by looking at them, and there are horses that lose their shoes a day after the farrier puts new ones on. Clover is none of these things, honestly. She rarely loses a shoe, rarely gets hurt - and it's a wonder, the way she barrels around the paddock and the strenuous job that she has. It's a bragging point, to be honest. Moving on, Clover is a bay approximately 16hh OTTB with two infamous white feet, on the hind end where her two white socks are. She has a slight white coronet band across her front right hoof and an unnoticeable white patch on her front left knee. To top off the white, she has a nice star right in the smack center of her forehead and an adorable little offcentered (a little to the right) triangle snip. Now, when you think jumping, you don't think "thoroughbred" - they're too leggy, they're too hot. It usually doesn't work out well; a horse has to be controllable and powerful when jumping, straight speed will get someone hurt. On the contrary, Clover looks more warmblood than thoroughbred. She's stocky and muscular, though she does have that thoroughbred energy, but she has strength behind it which is rather redeeming in the ring. Her worst trait in terms of appearance: her mane falls on the wrong side. Manes for a show should fall on the right side of the neck, but hers falls naturally on the left. It's impossible to get it to go where it's supposed to go. In terms of personality, Clover is a real piece of work. She knows her owner, and she'll save her owner multiple times if they don't get the right count into a jump, but she's touchy. Reins can't be too short or she'll throw a fit, but she's hot headed and seems to preserve her energy in the flat and go all out to jump. There's never a nice inbetween. She doesn't like stalls, or being in a stall alone. She'll pace and pace and nicker and neigh until someone gives her attention or lets her out. And on good days, she'll walk as kind as you please with her head down. On every other day, she'll spook at the same blade of grass she has seen everyday of her life. abielle
Fit For A King ;; King 9 years old -- gelding -- Tristan Miller -- American saddlebred Standing at 16.3hh, King is considered tall. He's a jet black gelding with a bright white star on his face and one shiny white sock. King is friendly. He enjoys the company of humans and always tries to convince his visitors that he deserves a treat. Though King is a sweet horse, he has a lot of energy and needs a strong and experienced rider. King likes to go go go, whether he's in the arena or on a trail equinequeen
Bravado ;; Bravo 8 years old -- gelding -- Francesca "Frankie" Miller -- thoroughbred SBravo is a stunning dark bay horse standing at 16hh. He has large brown puppy like eyes and a sweet face. This sweet face, however, can be deceiving. Bravo has some fire and attitude in him, only allowing certain people to ride him. He doesn't tolerate bouncy hands or someone that bounces around in the saddle. If you do get along with him, you'll learn that he's a sweet boy. He can be lazy in the arena, but doesn't like to go below a trot when he's being ridden on trails or in a pasture. equinequeen
