◈ ---- [ Marcus Richards ] [ Male ] [ Ultimate Card Game Player ] Marcus is slightly short for his age at a height of 5 foot 4, but his stocky build makes him seem larger. He has rather light skin and messy brown hair that matches his dark brown eyes. He's often seen wearing a dark green fleece jacket, which he ties around his waist when it's too warm. He's almost never seen without his black backpack that stores cards- mostly trading cards from various games. While one would expect a card game player to be cold, Marcus is the exact opposite. He seems to always be in a good mood and is very optimistic. In fact, one of the reasons for his talent is that he wanted to have fun even in the competitive card game world, so he built new and effective decks to do just that. While he is rather energetic and optimistic, he almost seems to be attempting to ignore the bad things in life rather than face them. [ American, with some German heritage on his mom's side ] [ Heterosexual ] [ tinybreeze ]
Note: while this may seem similar to the Ultimate Gambler, Marcus tends to play more tabletop games; think Yugioh or Magic rather than something like Poker.
Double note: Will be on tomorrow!)

((So I just found out that my teacher cancelled my first class today bc she's sick. We were supposed to take a test. I can live with this lol))
Willow O'Brien was not exactly the most exciteable of people; there wasn't much in life that she looked forward to. But even she had to admit, Hope's Peak Academy excited her, if only just a little bit.
She'd known that she would be accepted, of course, from the moment that she submitted her application. Hope's Peak only accepted the best of the best, the top twelve students in the nation, and Willow knew she was on that list-- if not at the very top of it, then very close.
That wasn't what excited her, though.
Maybe I can finally find someone who understands me here. All of her life, she had struggled to fit in, to find a place for herself. She hoped that here, she could find the place she belonged.
Taking a deep breath, Willow stepped forward, through the gates to the school. She knew something was wrong from the moment she stepped through the gates; somehow, she felt it, but she didn't have time to figure out what it was before she spiraled down into blackness.
-*-
She woke up in what seemed to be her dorm, alone and dressed in what seemed to be her school uniform; oddly enough, all of her belongings were gone, but she didn't have time to search her room before the announcement came on.
"All freshman students, please report to the gym immediately!"
Thinking that this must be important, and that she could search for her things later, Willow went. She found herself in a gymnasium that was nearly empty, aside from the eleven others. Frowning, she walked over to join them.
"I'm Willow," she introduced herself when her turn came, crossing her arms. "I'm the Ultimate Hacker." She fell silent after that, her eyes moving around the gym, though unlike Jace, her expression was analytical, rather than nervous.
Like Willow, Kane knew that he belonged at Hope's Peak, though his reason was entirely different. His father was famous, a great politician, the kind of guy that America liked. Kane was just like him. Why wouldn't he belong here? Hope's Peak Academy was one of the most, if not the most, prestigious high schools in America. Only twelve students were accepted into each Freshman class. It would've been a crime if Kane had not made it in.
Like everyone else, he blacked out the moment he stepped through the gates, though unlike most, he was not fazed in the slightest. If this is what it took to get into this school, then he would do it. It somewhat distressed him, however, to wake up in the ugly school uniform that he was wearing; he would much prefer the sleek suit and tie that he'd shown up in. But whatever.
He walked into the gymnasium with the kind of confident swagger that comes from a person who knows exactly what he's doing, his hands in his pockets and a half smile across his face. His hair was slightly mussed, but in an attractive, just crawled out of bed kind of way. Strolling over to the group, he flashed his most charming of smiles. "Good morning, everyone," he greeted with a warm smile. "It seems like we have some interesting talents among us. A gymnast, and a bookworm, both very useful talents." He glanced at Willow, smirking. "And I'm sure that having a hacker among us will serve us well. I, myself, have been labeled as the Ultimate Gorgeous Man."
Willow glanced at Kane, mahogany gaze raking the man up and down. "Really? I mean, you're not really that hot," she pointed out rather matter of factly. He's not ugly, yeah, but Ultimate Gorgeous man seems a little much!
Kane laughed a bit at that. "'Tis but a joke, my good friend," he chuckled merrily, clapping her on the shoulder. Willow looked repulsed. "Actually, my title's the Ultimate Jokester. Not sure why." He grinned.
((It is okay if he tells them that he's the jokester rather than the politician, right? I feel like saying straight out "Yo I'm the Ultimate Politician" would give it away that he's pretty much a big liar xD))

{ lucky! But yeah that's fine. The electronic handbooks will mention his real talent, since Monobear isn't trying to hide it, but someone will just notice when they're looking through everyone's profile ^^ }

◈ ---- Hearing that his talent was "useful" made Jace brighten, as it was easy to flatter him, but Hayami just giggled to herself. Guys like him amused her. Had she not been forced to act like she was, perhaps she would've had a little more fun with him. But no, she had to be perfectly sweet and innocent. How sad.
"I would believe that, but if being the most gorgeous male or female was truly a talent here, I would've been the Ultimate Beautiful Woman." Hayami giggled once again, making it quite hard to tell whether she was joking or not. That's kind of how she was all the time, acting or not. "You're that one politicians son, correct? I don't know much about America, since I'm from France, but I can remember people in my country talking about him."
This was a huge lie, actually. No one in France cared about American politics. She had just read up on all of them before coming to Hope's Peak. Monobear had given her lots of useful information about each person - which was also how she knew he was lying about his talent. However, she would keep her mouth shut. She'd probably inform him she knew, but until someone else mentioned it, she'd keep it a secret.
"Willow? That's a pretty name." Hayami turned to the other female, giving her a pretty smile. May as well try to make friends, right? She wanted to see the betrayed looks on everyone's faces when they realized she was not truly one of them. So, even though she would normally be trying to claim her position as top female, she didn't bother.
"Um...maybe we should actually start trying to figure out what's going on?" Jace suggested in a nervous manner, not wanting to anger any of the other students. "I mean, standing around talking isn't going to do us much good."
Even though what he said made sense, Hayami waved her hand dismissively. "No, I'm sure someone will come explain things to us soon. Why else would we be called in here? For now, we should be getting to know each other! Jokester, you still need to tell us your name, and we should stay a little bit about ourselves! I'll start." Half the things she was going to say were probably going to be lies.
"I grew up in France with my mother, father, and sister." False. She originally grew up in Japan, and Hayami was an only child. "I started gymnastics when I was little, and I've won many competitions." This was actually true. "I've had self defense training before, and I'm also pretty good with weapons!" Another false fact. She wanted them to think of her as a threat, though. "I was a model back in France, and I know both French and Japanese as well as English." These were all true, actually. Though Hayami was leaving out some details that made them seem less cool, like the fact she had only become a model because of her mother's connections (not that she wasn't pretty, she was just too difficult for anyone to want to work with her), and she only knew French and Japanese because she had been forced to learn them.
Though Hayami seemed overly eager to share everything about herself, Jace didn't, and he shuffled back slightly. There was really nothing interesting about himself, so what was the point in saying anything? He was just good at reading.

Marcus grinned as he approached the school. Hope's Peak. The beacon of hope. His parents had freaked out when they got the letter- in the good way, of course. His mom had been surprised that he actually got in. He chuckled to himself. It must have been surprising that her son got into such a great school for playing "kids' games," as she called them. Well, looks like they weren't kids' games if they got him into Hope's Peak. Honestly, he was pretty nervous, but that didn't matter. Worrying wouldn't do any good, right? He stepped forward and- ... ... ...Marcus slowly blinked his eyes open. Did he honestly just fall asleep at the gate? No, he was in a classroom. Did someone move him in here? Why not the nurse's office? He noticed that he only had his card backpack. Good. At least that wasn't gone. Marcus stretched and headed outside. He winced as the speakers burst to life. Geez, that voice was annoying. Oh well. Time to go to the gym.
The brown-haired boy soon arrived, but he wasn't the only one. Well, time for introductions. "Hey there! I'm Marcus Richards, Ultimate Card Game Player. Nice to meet you guys," he said with a grin.
