So obviously, I have Hawkwing's Journey, as shown in the other thread. I'm going to use this thread to post spoilers for it as I read through the book. I've just finished Chapter Eight, which I believe is where the sample gets to. (I didn't read the sample aside from the prologue and skimming the first chapter.) Everything ahead should be new stuff that nobody has read yet, so it'll be exciting! Note that it will be a little while before I have anything to post, because I have a show on at 8:00, Legends of Tomorrow. After that, though, you'll get the plot of the book. Also, it's 425 pages and 35 chapters. When flipping to the back of the book to find this out, I saw some stuff, but it's very small. It's all I know of the stuff that nobody has read yet. There is a character named Deerpaw, although they may not get their apprentice name until the last few pages, since I think I saw, "Deerpaw! Deerpaw!"
Also, the manga appears to be Hawkwing arriving at the lake. Anyway, I hope I can have more info for you guys in good time after my show is done.

Okay, stuff from Chapter 9 to Chapter 12. Chapter 9
- Mintfur and Nettlesplash are mates. - Hawkwing accuses Darktail of deliberately sending them the wrong way. - Darktail fought bravely against the raccoons, and seems remorseful about Billystorm, so the SkyClan cats trust him. - Hawkwing's short temper causes a scene, and he says, "I survived a quest that Billystorm couldn't!" - Leafstar punishes Hawkwing by making him tend to Echosong.
Chapter 10
- Darktail tells Hawkwing his supposed backstory. He was raised with a cat who wasn't his kin, but they were as close as brothers. However, during a hard leaf-bare, his sworn brother died of starvation. - Darktail offers to lead a new quest to find the spark that remains. He says that his friend Rain will come too. (Obviously it's an ambush.) - Darktail convinces Leafstar to let Hawkwing go with him on the "quest". (RIP Hawkwing, I guess the book will be about Cloudmist now.) Sharpclaw doesn't want Hawkwing to go, but gets overruled. - Sharpclaw says that he doesn't want Hawkwing to go because he doesn't want to lose him, but storms off after a misunderstanding. - Sagenose, Firefern, and Harrybrook are chosen to also go on the "quest". (RIP. I liked Firefern a lot.) - Darktail leads the group to a barn where his old friend Toad is. (Mottled brown tom.) Toad says that a big group of cats sheltered in the barn. - Hawkwing goes to investigate the barn and dogs come out of it. The cats escape to the trees, but Toad falls out of the tree and is killed by the dogs.
Chapter 11
- The cats escape from the dogs, and Darktail seems grief-stricken over the death of Toad. - Darktail then says that they have to head back, because they failed. So what was his angle here? (Did the others attack SkyClan while he was gone?) - Darktail comforts Hawkwing. - Returning, they learn that SkyClan was attacked by raccoons again while they were gone, and Leafstar lost a life. - So it seems Darktail's angle is to get warriors out of the camp so that SkyClan has fewer cats to help them fight the raccoons that he baits with human food. He's clever, that's for sure.
Chapter 12 - Sharpclaw talks about getting rid of Darktail, thinking he's a traitor. However, after seeing Darktail's grief for Toad, Hawkwing now believes in him. Hawkwing and Sharpclaw fight again, and Sharpclaw accuses Hawkwing of thinking of Darktail as a replacement brother. - Pebblepaw offers sympathy to Hawkwing, and he accepts. - Sharpclaw organizes bigger patrols to deal with the raccoon threat. - Sandynose is Pebblepaw's new mentor. - Hawkwing sees Darktail planting the human food for the raccoons by carrying it in his mouth. He is worried about whether he can trust Darktail. Also, I saw a name when I flipped ahead in the book by mistake. So this cat either appears or is mentioned. It's Dodge. It makes sense, since he lives between SkyClan and the old forest. I'll continue giving info as I read more.

Wow, Darktail is really trying to sell the innocent image. I wonder if he's backstory is even true. We know Sol's is, but...
And I don't know Toad, but that's so sad. It seems Rain has made his debut before the other rogues. And Dodge is there? Wow. I didn't even think about him when listing cats I wanted to see. Then again, I don't want to see him. But if he does appear, he must be pretty old.
If Nettlesplash and Mintfur are mates, then does that mean Birdwing is Mistfeather's mate?

Chapter 13 to Chapter 16. Chapter 13
- It's been days, and Hawkwing hasn't reported Darktail yet, because he doesn't realize the food is a lure. I'd tell him to get it together, but Darktail put the bait in the place where Duskpaw died, so Hawkwing's mind is clouded by grief. - Waspwhisker is very abrasive to Darktail on a patrol. Bellapaw feels sympathy for Darktail. - Rogues attack, and Darktail does well in the fight against them. - Hawkwing asks Darktail about the food, and Darktail claims that he was eating it. Hawkwing decides not to bring it up to anyone. At this point, he really is too dense.
Chapter 14
- Hawkwing thinks Pebblepaw is cute. - Leafstar talks with SkyClan about the rogues. - Hawkwing talks with Cherrytail about his worries. They both hope that SkyClan isn't driven out again. - Hawkwing is determined to protect the Clan. "As long as I'm alive, SkyClan will never be exiled. We will always survive!"
Chapter 15
- Darktail gives Hawkwing relationship advice. He knows that Hawkwing likes Pebblepaw, and says that he has to talk with her. He should know whether or not she likes him back, so he can make a decision. (Darktail says, "Before it's too late", so it seems like he does genuinely care about Hawkwing. I like that. Darktail is a cool villain, so far.) - Hawkwing and Sharpclaw catch a rabbit together, and Hawkwing thinks the tension between them may ease. Darktail seems worried by this. - Hawkwing thinks about how he has a lot of time left with Sharpclaw. Not a good sign. - Hawkwing apologizes for how he treated Pebblepaw, and she says they can be friends. - The rogues appear in the middle of the night to attack SkyClan.
Chapter 16
- Hawkwing wakes the Clan to fight the rogues. - Stormheart was alone defending the camp, so she might be dead. - It starts to rain. - Hawkwing, Darktail, and Bouncefire go to fight rogues, but Darktail turns on them and kills Bouncefire. - Hawkwing fights Darktail and loses. Sharpclaw comes in to fight Darktail, and nearly wins, but Rain gets him from behind and Darktail kills him. - Filled with rage, Hawkwing confronts Darktail, who reveals that he wanted to destroy SkyClan all along. However, he likes Hawkwing, and offers to make him the deputy of the rogues. Hawkwing refuses, and Darktail seems genuinely sad before he slips away into the darkness. That's all, so far. It's getting really good, now.

Hi! Thanks for posting this. I can't make myself avoid spoilers. c: I'm so shocked that Darktail turned on Sharpclaw and Bouncefire. I shouldn't be since I know he's a villain, but I'm just shook... Dx Why do they kill off the good characters with good names? =P
Also how does Cherrytail handle her mate's death, and why does Darktail want to ruin Skyclan? I bet you he's either a kit from a Bloodclan cat or heard from Sol about the clans.
Either way this is getting good.

Chapter 17 to Chapter 20 Chapter 17
- The battle continues. Hawkwing tries to save Patchfoot from a rogue, but Patchfoot is already dead when Hawkwing gets there. - Plumwillow is hurt, and she's also expecting kits. (Sandynose's?) - Leafstar orders SkyClan to retreat from the gorge. - Hawkwing blames himself for Darktail driving out SkyClan. - Sagenose is the father of Birdwing's kits. - Snipkit drowns. Hawkwing goes in to save her and fails. He wonders if he should just die, rather than facing everyone, but the memory of Sharpclaw saying, "My son is not a coward!" gives him the will to survive. - Hawkwing, Curlykit, Fidgetkit, Echosong, and Pebblepaw find shelter together. - So Plumwillow might be the mother of Twig and Violet. - Pebblepaw reassures Hawkwing that it isn't his fault. - Hawkwing hopes to have her by his side, always. - Hawkwing thinks that Stormheart is almost certainly dead. As well, other cats died, but he couldn't see who. It was quite a few, though.
Chapter 18
- A raccoon bites Echosong, but Pebblepaw saves her. - Hawkwing finally realizes that the food was bait. - Echosong says that they should look for the others in the Twolegplace. - In Ebonyclaw's backyard, the group finds Leafstar, Ebonyclaw, Tinycloud, Sparrowpelt, Parsleypaw, Birdwing, Sagenose, Mintfur, Plumwillow, Nettlesplash, and Waspwhisker. Mintfur has four kits, and they're there too. Hawkwing is worried about his mother and sisters being missing. The backyard is the new temporary camp. - Some cats want to fight the rogues, but Leafstar says they should find the other Clans instead. She then makes Waspwhisker the new deputy. (I wonder how this will lead to Echosong alone.)
Chapter 19
- Two days have passed. Stormheart and Snipkit are confirmed dead. Rileypaw is okay. Firefern is okay, but Harveymoon had to save her from a dog. Blossomheart also made it back. - Hawkwing thinks that Pebblepaw will be his mate someday. - Hawkwing and Pebblepaw find Cherrytail and Cloudmist. - Fidgetkit is Echosong's assistant, and could become a medicine cat. - Leafstar checks the gorge and sees that there are too many rogues. She says that SkyClan must find the other Clans. Echosong has a dream about the lake, so they plan to head there. Also, Bellapaw and Rabbitleap are also okay. - Harveymoon and Ebonyclaw want to stay with their Twolegs. - Before they leave, Leafstar says, "We must become a Clan again."
Chapter 20
- "Becoming a Clan again" means making the apprentices into warriors. - Sandynose is confirmed the father of Plumwillow's kits. - Parsleypaw becomes Parsleyseed. (Loyalty and courage) Pebblepaw becomes Pebbleshine. (Determination and intelligence) Hawkwing is so happy that Pebbleshine is a warrior that he doesn't pay attention to Rileypaw and Bellapaw's ceremony. They become Bellaleaf and Rileypool, after Leafstar's favourite cat, Leafpool. - Leafstar also makes the older kits into apprentices. Curlypaw is Hawkwing's apprentice, while Fidgetpaw is Echosong's apprentice. - Nettlesplash and Mintfur decide to stay behind, because their kits are too small to travel. Macgyver reaches the cats just in time to join them as they leave. - Hawkwing feels like this is the turning point where his life splits into Before and After. He thinks that everything in After is unknown, but he can endure it. - Leafstar wants Bellaleaf and Rileypool to lead the cats to Barley, so that he can tell them where the other Clans went. And that's it so far! I can't wait to read more.

Chapter 21 to Chapter 24 Chapter 21
- The travelling cats reach Dodge's twolegplace. - The cats find Shorty in a random alley. - Shorty takes them back to his camp and they see the Devil. Sorry, I meant Stick. Shorty and Cora are together and have two sons, Branch and Stone, and a daughter, Night. (I guess she was a big fan of Dawn of the Clans. Branch and Stone are tabbies, and Night is black and white.) - Hawkwing goes hunting with a long-furred gray tom, Foggy, and a tortoiseshell she-cat, Suzy. - Bellaleaf appears and reveals that Curlypaw has been abducted.
Chapter 22
- Dodge's cats took Curlypaw, and Stick abandoned Bellaleaf because he's a coward. Also, Harrybrook is apparently with the team. - Harley appears with a request from Dodge for parlay. Leafstar accepts. - Dodge wants all of SkyClan to meet him. - They find the captured Curlypaw. Dodge reveals that he knows Darktail, and helped him as part of his revenge. (For a little bit, I thought it would be revealed that Darktail's origins were connected to Dodge. Fortunately, they aren't. His past remains a mystery.) - Dodge wants SkyClan to fight alongside him and drive out Stick. (Yes, kill Stick!) They refuse, so Dodge prepares to attack.
Chapter 23
- Hawkwing tells Dodge to calm down. He challenges him to a one on one fight. If Dodge wins, SkyClan will help him kill Stick. If Hawkwing wins, Dodge will release Curlypaw, and SkyClan can go. Dodge accepts. - Hawkwing and Dodge have a long fight. At the end, Hawkwing kills Dodge without even realizing it. - Harley takes over as leader, and convinces Dodge's cats that peace is more sensible than fighting Stick's cats. (No, kill Stick!) He frees Curlypaw and allows SkyClan safe passage.
Chapter 24
- Hawkwing trains Curlypaw a bit. She seems like a decent hunter. - Bellaleaf recognizes a landmark. - SkyClan finds the barn and sees Barley. He invites them in. - Barley points SkyClan in the right direction. Cherrytail decides to stay in the barn, both because of her injury, and because of her grief over Sharpclaw's death. Cloudmist stays with her, but promises she'll meet Hawkwing and Blossomheart again some day. - Hawkwing falls out of a tree and sprains his leg. Leafstar says that SkyClan should settle until he gets better. - Pebbleshine reveals that she's expecting kits. - They are in fact Hawkwing's kits. I thought for a second they were someone else's kits, and Hawkwing was going to be jealous or something, but they're his kits. - So yeah, they could be Violet and Twig. Still more to come. I wonder who SkyClan will run into next?

Chapter 25 to Chapter 28 Chapter 25
- A moon has passed. - Was Clovertail with them? Because Clovertail is with them. - Hawkwing, Curlypaw, Pebbleshine, and Waspwhisker find a truck with chickens in it. Waspwhisker wants to get the chickens. (Don't do it! This is how you die!) - Pebbleshine gets stuck in the truck and it drives away with her. - Can't wait until The Lost Warrior, but for Pebbleshine.
Chapter 26
- SkyClan waits for Pebbleshine for a few days, but she doesn't appear. They decide to leave. - Hawkwing wants to stay and wait, but is convinced to go with SkyClan.
Chapter 27
- SkyClan finds a lake, but it seems to be the wrong lake. - Macgyver finds a good spot for a new camp. - Hawkwing meets a plump dark tabby kittypet tom, Max. Max tells him that another group of cats passed by the lake earlier, and that there are no cats living by it. - Echosong is sure that they should keep moving and that something bad will happen if they stay. However, Plumwillow says that she can't go on until she has her kits. Leafstar decides to stay for now.
Chapter 28
- Hawkwing has a dream of an idyllic life with Pebbleshine. Sharpclaw, Cloudmist, and Cherrytail are still with him, and he's looking at Pebbleshine's kits in the gorge. She has a speckled white she-cat, a gray tom, and a speckled gray tom. Also, Sharpclaw says that he knows Hawkwing will be a great father. - Hawkwing wakes up and sees a bird. SkyClan is staying in Macgyver's camp. Blossomheart decides to go with Hawking, Bellaleaf, and Curlypaw to see the other side of the lake. (Time for the utopia's dark secret?) - The cats find a bunch of twoleg nests, but they're all abandoned. (What, is there a serial killer here? A radiation spill? - The bird attacks, but Hawkwing defeats it. Not as much happened here, but maybe the next few chapters will be more eventful. I only have 100 pages left.

If you finish it by tonight, could you give a summary of the Manga as well? That's the only thing I want to know about tbh.
It would confirm my theory on Hawkwing/Pebblepaw being the parents of Violetpaw/Twigpaw.

This makes me even more convinced about Hawkwing and Pebbleshine being the parents of Twigpaw and Violetpaw. It also explains how they were left, and not with SkyClan by the time Alderheart and Needletail find them. So that makes it pretty clear that Pebbleshine most likely died between the events of HJ and TAQ--if this theory is true.

I'm not surprised that Hawkwing and Pebbleshine are together, but it's kind of annoying because it was so predictable.
Awww no my poor Cherrytail. :c That's so sad that she stays behind at the farm, and Cloudmist is so kind to stay with her mother. Also that means Barley is alive, at this time anyway.
The missing cats that aren't confirmed dead so far are Frecklewish, Sandynose, Mistfeather, Clovertail, and Fallowfern.
Cats dead are Sharpclaw, Duskpaw, Bouncefire, Stormheart, Snipkit, Honeytail, and Patchfoot.
Wow of the 39 living cats at the start of the book, 8 are already dead, 5 are missing, and 6 cats stay behind. That's only 20 cats living still in the clan. I hope Skyclan recovers.
EDIT: Well Clovertail is with the group now but Pebbleshine is now gone...

Chapter 29 to Chapter 32 Chapter 29
- SkyClan has been at the fake lake for a moon. Echosong is convinced something is wrong with it, but Leafstar wants to stay. It's like a horror movie, or something. - Plumwillow has her kits. The first one is coming out the wrong way, and she seems ready to give up, but Hawkwing encourages her to stay strong. All three are born. She has a gray tom (Dewkit, who may be "Deerpaw"), a light brown tom with ginger legs (Finkit), and a pale tabby she-cat (Reedkit). Plumwillow asks if Hawkwing will help her with her kits, since he will never see his own kits. He agrees. - A moon passes. Hawkwing is like a father to the kits, now. - The abandoned houses are actually cottages. It's summer, so the people come back. - Dogs appear and attack.
Chapter 30
- Hawkwing and Plumwillow save the kits from the dogs. - Echosong gets fed up with Leafstar staying at the lake, and says that she's leaving. - Harrybrook and Bellaleaf leave with Echosong. - Echosong tells Hawkwing to remember who he is.
Chapter 31
- Two moons have passed. Curlypaw is up to something. - Parsleyseed leaves to become a kittypet. Macgyver mentions the Cutter, and reveals that he hasn't been fixed. - Dogs and humans attack the kits, but Hawkwing and Plumwillow save them. Hawkwing decides that the time has come to leave the fake lake. - Curlypaw decides to become a kittypet as well. Hawkwing realizes that he has to convince Leafstar to leave the fake lake.
Chapter 32
- Leafstar actually agrees that they should leave, but Waspwhisker doesn't want to go. - Leafstar tells the Clan it's time to leave. Waspwhisker backs him up this time. The kits don't want to go, but Hawkwing and Plumwillow tell them they'll find a better place. - Birdwing, Clovertail, Fidgetpaw, and Waspwhisker are taken by animal control. - Leafstar makes Hawkwing her new deputy. (Wow. That means we were spoiled on something that doesn't happen until the last 50 pages.) - SkyClan finally leaves the fake lake. Well, the next batch of chapters will be the end! It's been a long ride, folks. Hope you're ready to finish it with me!

I have two theories: Mistfeather's mate is Stormheart because she's the only missing she-cat killed in the battle that wasn't a medicine cat or elder. My other one is that Shadowclan will leave the rouges when they find out what they did to Skyclan.
Other than that I put together the remaining Skyclan cats (in the group still), but I may have made a mistake...
Leafstar, Hawkwing, Plumwillow, Dewkit, Finkit, Reedkit, Firefern, Rileypool, MacGyver, Blossomheart, Sparrowpelt, Tinycloud, Sagenose, Rabbitleap, Sandynose. That's 15 now since Echosong, Harrybrook, and Bellaleaf went somewhere else.
Also is anyone else getting Sandynose and Sagenose confused just like Mousewhisker and Molewhisker? xD

Time for the finale! The last three chapters, and the manga! Here we go! Chapter 33
- A moon and a half have passed since leaving the fake lake. No sign of Echosong. - Leafstar tells Hawkwing that she made him deputy because he has grown, and because he values the well-being of the Clan above his own. - Macgyver collapses from fever. Blossomheart and Rileypool get sick as well. - Firefern and Hawkwing take care of the sick cats. Finkit gets sick as well. - Firefern tires herself out helping the sick cats and gets sick. - Leafstar says that the healthy cats should go and search for Echosong, and she will stay with the sick cats. - Just as she's about to announce this, Echosong returns.
Chapter 34
- Echosong was guided back by StarClan. - Bellaleaf thinks Rileypool is dead, but Echosong says that he's alive just barely. - Firefern and Rileypool die of sickness. (Dang, I adored Firefern. I'll miss her. Now Leafstar has lost her mate and both of her daughters.) - Plumwillow says that SkyClan might as well be dead. - Sandynose out of nowhere! - "How are you alive?" "Well, Fallowfern and I-" - Fallowfern out of nowhere! - They were trapped in a house for a while. After they escaped, they found Barley, who pointed them in the right direction. They also encountered Max. - Hawkwing reassures Sandynose that he didn't steal his mate. In his mind, he thinks, "Now I'll never get to steal your mate." - Plumwillow and Sagenose (who was losing faith in StarClan, but I didn't mention those parts) regain their faith. It's time to head out and search for the lake. - Hawkwing is worried about his place in the Clan. - The kits see Hawkwing as their father, not Sandynose. Hawkwing convinces them to give Sandynose a chance.
Chapter 35
- The cats meet a ginger tom and ask if there are Clans nearby. He's never heard of them. He's also kind of a jerk. - After two moons, Echosong has another vision. Clear Sky told her the familiar prophecy, "Embrace what you find in the shadows, for only they can clear the sky." - Leafstar makes the kits into apprentices. Macgyver gets Dewpaw, Blossomheart gets Finpaw, and Bellaleaf gets Reedpaw. (This confirms that "Deerpaw" is Dewpaw.) - Hawkwing is slightly disappointed that he doesn't get to mentor one of the kits, but realizes that the other two would feel left out. - Echosong has a vision of she-cat who looks just like Hawkwing, and says that it's probably his daughter. (H + P = V + T confirmed.) - Hawkwing finally has hope for the future. I'll put the manga in a separate spoiler tag. Manga
- Echosong is dead. - Her last words were, "Follow the blood trail." - Hawkwing is happy that the apprentices have their real father. - Hawkwing chases a leaf and nearly falls off a cliff. - He looks up into the sky and sees clouds stretching towards the sun. Leafstar joins him, and they realize that the clouds are the Blood Trail. Okay, what? The manga was terrible!

Okay, so two of the things I expected weren't in this. We barely found out anything about Darktail's mysterious past, and Hawkwing doesn't reach the lake, meaning Alderheart will still probably have to find him. Also, Leafpool or Jayfeather might move to SkyClan, I guess.
I had hoped for a few more cameos. (Maybe they're saving Jesse for Shattered Sky, and BloodClan is all but guaranteed to appear at some point.) Still, it was nice to see Barley. I was hoping for Smudge, though.
Also, I was a bit sad that SkyClan wasn't as scattered as I'd hoped. And losing Firefern hurts, since she was awesome.
Overall, not what I expected, but I'm more hyped for Shattered Sky now.
