Vipertooth | w/Burninghope (Moonblazer ) & Hazelblaze (Willow )Vipertooth surveyed the ground ahead of her, looking for the dryer spots, eyes narrowed slightly. A few paces ahead she could see there was a patch of ground that was flanked by two larger pools but the way forward seemed to stay more marshy than actually deep. At least, as far as she could tell - it was hard to tell until they got closer. She glanced back at the other two cats and pointed forward with her tail. "This way looks clear," she said. "But let's go slower, it could get messy further on." she suggested. "Sounds like a plan." Burninghope nodded to the older she-cat, before she carefully maneuvered herself in the direction that Vipertooth pointed out. After a few moments, her ears perked up as she noticed something gleaming along the path. At the edge of one of the small mud holes, an odd yet shiny golden tendril with a red pebble attached to it rested on the mud. Burninghope very carefully reached her neck over and gripped it, pulling it over to safer ground as she dropped it and exclaimed. "See? Weird things! Look at this! I've never seen a pebble shine like that. Or a vine. What a funny color." She peered down at it, pawing it carefully. "Oh Starclan... I just realized something." She groaned. "If the floods swept through the territory, there's going to be a ton of stuff like this showing up everywhere! And crowfood from Carrionplace! Prey-maulers will surely start coming for it! Change of plans, and I know it's going to sound gross, but we need to bury as much crowfood as we can find out here if we find it so the scent won't bring anything over." She decided.

Vipertooth | w/Burninghope (Moonblazer) & Hazelblaze (Willow)Vipertooth curled her lip up in disgust at the suggestion and glanced around, her excitement for being out of camp lessening even more so. After a moment, she forced her face to return to normal and gave a short snort of agreement. "I suppose we should," she grunted. She tried to curb her frustration, knowing how important it was to do this. They were already unsafe in their territory, they didn't need anything else making it more dangerous. If she had to bury crow food all day, then so be it, she would. One thing she was certain of - she would be visiting the medicine cat den later for something to settle her stomach, it would be a miracle if she could keep down her meal from earlier that day. "I used to dream of being a warrior, completing my warrior duties for the clan, being so good at hunting and fighting I'd be an obvious choice for deputy," she laughed softly. "This part was never in my dreams." she joked.

Moonblazer / 🎄tansypool🪿 Blossompaw nodded almost absently at the warrior's advice. She was itching to get to hunting. She stiffened her spine slightly, crouching down as silently as she could and beckoned Scorpionpaw towards her. "You heard what Waspflame said. I'll sniff it out and chase it to you." She barely waited for acknowledgement and slunk away, extra aware of the two pairs of eyes watching her squeeze through the naked brush. Beyond the undergrowth was some of the thicker oaks that resided on ShadowClan territory. The exact place a rabbit crossing our border would be,Blossompaw thought. She kept forward, careful not to brush against anything too loud as to not alert anything. As she crossed pass a particularly large, gnarled tree she spotted it. Feeding eargely on the fledgingly grass at the root of the tree, the same rabbit crouched, its side slightly facing Blossompaw. The apprentice knew exactly what to do. It wasnt going to get away twice. She slunk around the wide tree, cutting off its escape route and within a heartbeat there was silence. She looked intensly at the rabbit as she waited. It was oddly oblivious. Not for long though as just as it bent its head for another bite Blossompaw streaked out of her hiding place, hissing ferociously. The prey shot away and the two dived over the roots and dips again. It was heading right where Scorpionpaw was. They were gonna get it! Just one more- Then it curved again, deftly avoiding the waiting place of the other apprentice and forging up the slope- right to the place where she had tripped and where the two warriors were waiting. "Oh no you dont," Blossompaw growled breathily as she dug her claws deeper and pushed forward. She was not giving anyone the satisfaction of helping her take down this catch. Energy scorched through her and she bodied the rabbit, her claws deep in its rear as she brought it down with a swift bite. “There you go.” Lionscorch praised with a hint of an impressed gaze. He eyed the rabbit now dead in Blossompaw’s claws, and nodded. “The Clan will be in good spirits seeing this. Well done, both of you.” Blossompaw beamed at the warrior's praise as she caught her breath. She glance happily at Scorpionpaw. She was glad that they managed to turn what was sure to be a ear-wringing to a successful hunt. Who knows maybe they will talk to our mentors and see if our assessments can be pushed up! She bent down to pick the rabbit in her jaws when a thought drove all the happiness out and replaced it with nervous doubt. She peeked up at Lionscorch. "Are you two still going to tell Cedarstar we snuck out?"

I don’t need to burden him with knowing you two snuck out.” Lionscorch decided, even as Waspflame looked a bit uneasy. He had already been chewed out for helping Duskpaw, Fuzzypaw, and Whorlpaw find Cliffheart. He really didn’t want to be chewed out for this too. “You have to promise not to do it again. Go out with at least two Warriors, got it?” Waspflame added in quickly, looking at Scorpionpaw and Blossompaw sternly. “That rabbit is your saving grace here. It’ll be more than enough to steer away questions. You came out with us.” He nodded.

Hazelblaze laughed, though it was tinged with bitterness as she set to work near Vipertooth. "You can say that again. I don't think any of us imagined all the hardships we've seen this season cycle. I don't think I'd even blink an eye if the sky started falling."

“That’s the hard part, of being a Warrior, I guess.” Burninghope offered, glancing between the two other she-cats before she scampered back up to the lead and quickly glanced around. No crowfood to bury right here, but she absolutely could scent some farther in the distance. She proceeded onwards, weaving through the muddy patches carefully as to not sink into one.
“…I just can’t imagine what we could have done to get so much grief in so little time. Starclan can’t be angry about Opalmist, can they?” Burninghope inquired wearily.

I just might! so if I'm inactive for a few days don't get worried ig? I haven't been feeling too good a bit I guess (throat and cough? Probably not sick but yeah) And I think I'm under a bit of stress... not sure so yeah//

Vipertooth | w/Burninghope (Moonblazer ) & Hazelblaze (willowtail )Vipertooth shook out her fur and followed Burninghope as she kept moving forward. She kept her eyes and nose alert for any sort of crowfood or shiny things for Cardinalblaze. The ground underpaw became heavier with mud and grit and she had to fight back the disdain from showing, stopping every few pawsteps to shake her pads clean. She could feel the residue of the stuff inbetween her toes and she decided she'd give herself a good washing when she got back to camp, no matter how tired she was. She glanced up at Burninghope as the other she-cat spoke, tone worried. Vipertooth took a pace forward and flicked her tail briefly over her spine, in an attempt at comfort. "I'm sure if StarClan were mad, Snowdance would have mentioned it already." she assured her clanmate.

Starrylight blinked in surprise as Cliffheart's soft voice rang up from the nearby nest. The she-cat's amber eyes wide as she turned to look at him. Duskpaw shot to her feet from the other side of Palepaw's nest, looking at her mentor with wide eyes. "You're awake!" The resentment she had been feeling for her mentor seemed to drain away as she saw Cliffheart struggle to sit up. Only relief filled her chest as she grinned at him. Cedarstar glanced at Snowdance, he wanted to make sure ShadowClan's medicine cat was okay with Cliffheart going to SkyClan. He got the sense Spiderbite was going to get him there despite his condition. "Snowdance?" Spiderbite glanced at the ShadowClan leader. The other cat that stood in his place was gone. I would think I was imagining it, but it's happened before. He recalled the last gathering. When Opalmist was banished, the same change had occurred within Cedarstar. Spiderbite flicked his ear to dismiss his curiosity. He was here to bring Cliffheart to SkyClan, not get wrapped up in ShadowClan's problems. He trusted Snowdance to be more than capable of handling it, after all. Though, he did steal a glance at her to see if she even noticed the change. Cliffheart tilted his ears back when he looked at Duskpaw. He knew he'd been neglecting her and his guilt for that shown on his face, especially with Cedarstar standing right there. He looked to Snowdance when he realized Cedarstar was seeking her permission. "I have to go," he said softly. "Lavendersky is my sister and she saved my life by getting me out of SkyClan. If she's dying I..." His voice cracked and his heart broke. "I have to say goodbye."

Longpaw pulled his paws closer to himself and wrapped his skinny tail tightly around himself. The grief that swept from Cherryvine and Whorlpaw uneased him. It made him think of his father. Ratmask still didn't get up after hearing about Moonpetal's death. Longpaw looked away. Littlemoon offered him a sympathetic glance. "After you report, you should get some rest." Her blue gaze flickered down to Stormfury's body. "Cats shouldn't be asking after this. One look at him and we all know what happened. He died a hero." Brittlefoot watched Longpaw for a moment, before his solemn gaze pointed back to Stormfury. A flicker of anger cut through his grief, that the tom had to suffer like that. That all of Shadowclan had been suffering. It made him feel useless knowing he couldn’t prevent it. He stood on shaky, slender legs, determined to not let Stormfury’s loss go in vain. Cardinalblaze looked tiredly at Littlemoon, though he forced himself to push that exhaustion away. A deputy was supposed to be steadfast, no matter what. He could push through, just as Falcontalon and Cloudscar would have. Her words were achingly tempting though. “I’ll have plenty of time to rest once I’m sure everything is as settled as it can be. Cedarstar… Shadowclan needs me to be avalaible no matter what, and I promised I’d do just that.” He blinked warmly at her. “Thank you. Er! For the concern, that is. Really, it’s very kind.” Looking somberly at Stormfury’s body, he drooped. “He was a Shadowclan Warrior, through and through. Absolutely a hero, but I just… someway, somehow, this could have been prevented.” He inwardly blamed himself. Had he chosen different patrols, made different choices, maybe Stormfury wouldn’t have had to rescue Raccoonmask in the first place. He pushed the poisonous thought down. Brittlefoot's moment caught Longpaw's eye. He looked at his mentor and his ear flicked in annoyed questioning at the way he was standing with that stupid determined look on his face. Now what? Longpaw bit back a growl of irritation. Why did Brittlefoot always have to be so headstrong and forward moving? Littlemoon flicked her blue gaze up and down the deputy. She gave a small smile and a sigh. "As long as you rest. I would hope Cedarstar taught you the importance of rest when you were an apprentice. There isn't a warrior out that can do it all as Lynxdapple used to say." Yet, Littlemoon let Cardinalblaze change the subject and she looked to Stormfury's body. Her voice came as soft as the waning moon. "StarClan's will can't be prevented, Cardinalblaze." She gave him a side-long glance. "If it's a cat's time to join them, there's no stopping it." Her ears fell back as the memory of the great fire swept through her mind. Scorchfire, Icefire, and Viperpool. She watched them all burn. There was nothing she could do and the horror of their deaths almost cost her, her life as well. Her gaze flickered briefly to the medicine den. If not for Cedarstar, I would be in StarClan now as well. The thought made her shudder. "It doesn't make sense why some cats die while others live." She wasn't looking at anything now, but sounded like she was trying to convince herself. "We just have to trust that StarClan has a reason for everything that happens."

All this suffering.” Burninghope admitted, eyes narrowing as she admitted. “All those tales of the Dark Forest, of such evil, it always sounded so farfetched. Yet… I mean, I know it did really happen. But can they really have so much control over stuff?” She asked, almost to herself.

She wasn't looking at anything now, but sounded like she was trying to convince herself. "We just have to trust that StarClan has a reason for everything that happens." Brittlefoot made a turn towards the nursery, wanting to be assured that Snakesong was settled back in. He knew it would be heartbreaking to see Cherryvine’s kits, knowing that Stormfury was dead. Even so, it was better to support his sister as he always had. He idly checked if Smokestorm was anywhere too, a part of him frustrated with the tom’s hesitance around the new kits. Cardinalblaze offered Littlemoon a tired yet grateful look, a small chuckle escaping him as he mewed. “Lynxdapple has plenty of nerve saying that when I see him at the front of the crowd for nearly every patrol. I’ve started to wonder if he can live without sleeping just so he can patrol.” He seemed to soften at her next words, digesting them carefully. At times, he was agonizingly questioning why Starclan worked the way it did. Why things that happened were meant to happen. What reason could there be that his mother had an affair with Falcontalon, and with the very cat who had caused the death of her daughter? What reason was there for Opalmist to give up her entire livelihood and skill for a simple Skyclan cat? The deputy understood her intent though. Cardinalblaze had to believe that Starclan was far greater than the harbinger of misfortunes. Starclan wouldn’t punish them like this, not when Cedarstar’s devotion had always been as strong as stone. He looked at Littlemoon and nodded. “Thank you. I know it may seem like a small thing, but it was something I needed to hear. I’ll rest, I promise.”

Raccoonrunner || Open roleplay Raccoonrunner was walking through the dark thicket of Shadowclan territory his usually puffed out fur sticking to his body in clumps. It looked like the rain would weigh him down until his fur dragged against the pine wood floor. He groaned to himself silently, what could a cat do though? The clan needed food, especially right before Leaf-bare if they wanted to survive with happy bellies. He stalked quietly on the ground, his belly and paws caked with mud and dirt.

I'd be happy to help and I'm sure Tigerfury would volunteer as well." Brittlefoot had approached the nursery around the same time Smokestorm had found his way back to it as well. Though, once Brittlefoot realized that Smokestorm was frozen in front of the entrance, the frail tom seemed to snicker both jokingly and sternly. “What? Are you afraid of the den or something, Smokestorm? Either deliver the moss or move a bit to the side so I can go see my sister and her kits. You know. The ones that are also yours?” He lifted a brow, before swishing his kinked tail. Snakesong, while making sure her kits were feeding, was also doing her best to keep Grovekit from running out into camp. Snakesong had to quietly shush her each time she loudly asked if Stormfury was okay. Her heart ached as Flowerkit made noises of sadness, seeming to assume the worst as he tended to do. The fearful tom stuck close to Songbreeze, clearly upset. Cardinalblaze shook his head a bit shyly, still not used to being called the deputy even though he knew he was. He mewed. “You can still call me by my name, you know. No uh. No titles needed, unless another Clan’s asking, you know?” He shook the awkwardness away, instead nodding. “With all the camp rebuilding, and now the very blatant threat with the prey-maulers, I’m thinking everyone needs to be at their top fighting shape here on out. I want to see if we can start doing group training sessions. Not just apprentices, but the Warriors too. And I’ll definitely be able to use Tigerfury’s help with that… and if you’re willing to help me plan it out, I think it might work. I’ve been uh. Thinking alot, really. A whole lot.” He murmured, knowing he had to prove he could be Shadowclan’s deputy, especially during such difficult times.

(Since technically Warriors can’t go out alone at the moment with the prey-maulers plot, I can have Hollyvine be out with him if that’s cool with you!) Hollyvine slipped silently after Raccoonrunner, her dark fur blending in well with the sludge and mud around the territory. She watched the other tom’s movements, wondering if he’d scent any prey first. They could likely do a team hunt if they managed to find anything. So far though, their luck had been miserable. The flood had truly rucked up most of the marshes, and the prey that would have been here likely fled or perished in that flood.

(That works for me ) Raccoonrunner groaned as he lifted his paws from the mud. Opening his mouth to taste the air. It was stale, and he couldn't taste anything nearby. The tom turned to her silently, his face twisted in disappointment. "Hear anything?" he asks the she-cat. His tail flicked in annoyance at this situation. The flood had cleared out any prey for who knows how far.

With leafbare coming, if we’re not finding prey now, how will we…” She trailed off, trying not to be too negative as she shook her head. “Maybe we just need to do it more creatively. Like luring birds in, the way Goldberry and Tumblefoot are so good at.” She suggested, though she doubted they could find good bait without sinking deep into the mud.

He nodded his head, "Worth a shot, at this point I'd be pleased bringing home rats." His reply was somewhat playful. He was also trying to remain positive. He lifted his paws as he tried to venture further, to get past the mud. "We could also try climbing some of these tree's. There has to be at least one squirrel hiding out up there." He says now looking up at the tree tops. "Maybe we can't taste them in the air because its too high for the scent to carry."

(Boy, I need to update Smokestorm's form. It doesn't quite fit him anymore) Smokestorm was awkwardly standing outside the nursery with a wadded bunch of moss in his mouth. His heart was pounding in his ears. Stormfury's body. His father was in the medicine den. Moonpetal was gone. Palepaw had a hole in his side. He pinned his ears back. Not to mention the camp felt like it was leaking. The puddle over there was pretty big. He sure make sure Hiddendream kept the new kits inside. StarClan... The new kits. Smokestorm jumped in realization. I was going to get them fresh moss! He twisted around to head for the moss hollow. After five steps, he remembered he already had moss in his mouth. His fur prickled when he winced and glanced quickly to make sure no one saw his blundering. Smokestorm skirted back toward the nursery, but halted right in front of the entrance. He swore his heart was as loud as thunder as he stared through the dark gap. Eaglesight sat outside the medicine den in self appointed guard duty. He watched the camp and eyed Stormfury's body sadly. With a glance at the nursery, he hoped Flowerkit and Grovekit didn't peak their heads out to see the body. All the while, Eaglesight had one ear tilted back toward the medicine den to listen for sounds inside. He trusted Cedarstar, but he didn't trust that SkyClan medicine cat. Littlemoon blinked out of her memories and she offered a shy smile to Cardinalblaze. "I'm glad I could help." She stood to go. "I won't keep you, deputy, but if you need cats for a patrol, later. A whole lot.” He murmured, knowing he had to prove he could be Shadowclan’s deputy, especially during such difficult times. Smokestorm jumped a few centimeters in the air when Brittlefoot spoke. He whipped around, eyes as wide as orbs. "What?" He gasped through the moss, but ended up choking on it. "I-I mean, I wasn't, uh. I was just..." He looked rapidly around the den entrance for any excuse. "I was making sure I wouldn't trip. Look." He brushed his tail across the empty floor. "All clear," he chuckled awkwardly. Pinning his ears back, Smokestorm forced himself into the den. He had to pause again for his eyes to adjust, but his fur rose and he lowered his head. He looked under his paws to make sure he didn't step on anyone. He spotted Snakesong in the back of the den and his head lowered with a sigh. Why'd she have to be all the way back there? Each slow and careful step Smokestorm made him look like some lumbering opossum. He didn't put his paw down unless he checked three times that he wasn't going to step on a kit. Songbreeze wrapped her tail around Flowerkit. "Grovekit, come back here," she called softly. She wasn't sure what was going on outside, but the commotion didn't sound good and there was the slight hint of SkyClan scent in the air. "We need to stay in the nursery today." She glanced over at Brittlefoot and Smokestorm when the toms came in. While Smokestorm looked ridiculous, she hoped the toms would be able to tell them what was going on. Littlemoon twitched her whiskers in amusement. "Tigerfury would be honored to help train apprentices. That's his dream, you know." She tilted her head when he asked for her help. She wasn't sure what she could contribute. "I'll help you however you need, Cardinalblaze." A glisten of teasing entered her blue eyes. "Just be careful you don't think yourself into a coma. You already proved you're a capable deputy after what happened with the flood. Don't think you need you haven't."

She was awful at climbing trees, though she was too embarrassed to admit it. Though, she knew that she needed to improve that seeing as trees might be the only escape if a Prey-Mauler showed up. She swallowed, but steeled herself. “Yeah… that could be possible.” She glanced back at Russetshade then, curious for the older Warrior’s thoughts.

Snowdance had been watching Cedarstar closely when he had suddenly changed again, her ear flicking as took in the differences in his appearance again. It didn’t seem to surprise her as much as it had the first few times this had happened, and now she just wanted to figure out why this seemed to keep happening. Her attention quickly turned to Cliffheart when he suddenly spoke up and she quickly moved over to his side to inspect and look him over, “Don’t move too quickly, Cliffheart. Your muscles and joints are going to be a bit stiff.” She said, sitting back after her inspection. Snowdance glanced between Cedarstar and Cliffheart, not feeling very comfortable sending the warrior to another territory just after he had awoken from a long sleep. “If he goes, I don’t want him to go alone. You have to send at least a warrior or two with him to make sure he can make it back safely.” She mewed firmly, looking at both Cedarstar and Spiderbite as she spoke. Snowdance stood and padded over to her herb store, “For a healthy warrior, this trek will be nothing to them, but for Cliffheart, it’s going to be a bit more difficult and exhausting. So I’ll give you some traveling herbs for now, as well as some herbs that will help with the stiffness in your body.” She continued, her paws working quickly as she sorted out the herbs she needed and set them aside in a neat pile. Once she was finished grabbing what she needed, she picked the herbs up and made her way back over to the others and set them down in front of her paws, not quite offering them to Cliffheart just yet, “But before I fully agree to let him go with you, I want your promise, Spiderbite. I want you to make sure that no harm comes to him while he is with you, that he doesn’t push himself too much when he’s too worn out to move. And that he will make it back to ShadowClan safely.” Snowdance said, looking straight into the SkyClan medicine cat’s eyes as she spoke.
