Pantherkit nodded and pricked her ears for the sounds of frogs. When she heard one, she tipped her head in the direction of the noise and asked quietly, “Can I go hunt it?” "Before you try, I want you to understand that frogs will slip out of your paws if you don't use them correctly. Pouncing won't be enough. You'll need to learn to grip properly too. Curl your paws inwards, and extend your claws so you can get a hold on the frog. Don't hesitate when you bite it, bite it and kill it quickly before it can hop away." Talltalon explained, showing her the motions with his paws, curling them as his claws extended to make a sort of cage for a prospective frog. "Show me your tracking, and seek one out. I'll watch, and fix your errors if you miss." He rumbled firmly, nodding his assent.

When Pantherkit scented it, she took off into the brush and gracefully weaved through the fallen branches and brush. As soon as she saw the frog, she moved around to where the wind was towards her and not the frog. Her one blue eye was fixed on it with great concentration. She crept closer, until she was about a tail-length away. Then she quickly ran through what Talltalon had said in her mind. Carefully she wiggled her hind quarters, and pounced! Her claws ran into the flesh and as it tried to hop away she bit it hard on the head. She slipped slightly on the mud and her balance was thrown off but it didn’t matter now. Her chest filled with pride as the frog stopped moving, and she picked it up triumphantly between her jaws as she brought it to Talltalon and dropped it at his feet. Her mouth was watering, but she said nothing as she waited for him to tell her what he thought of her catch.

Snowdance had moved on to chewing up what horsetail she had and was applying it to Palepaw's wounds, covering what wounds she could with the cobwebs that she had left over. She had already covered the apprentice's injuries with a poultice, but she wanted to be sure that she was able to get everything covered with her limited herbs. Vixenflame was over by the nursery, inspecting the walls of the den. Truthfully, she wanted to keep an eye on Cherryvine, knowing that her sister hadn't taken the news of her mate's death very well. She gave a flick of her ear, noticing more than one hole in the den, planning on getting some materials soon to fix them. Poppyflame's ear twitched as she looked for something to do to help get the camp cleaned up, not wanting to just sit around while the rest of the clan worked. Leopardshadow pulled her kits close to her, wanting to keep them close to her while the Clan grew busy working on the repairs on the camp. Skullkit turned his head towards the bush he normally liked to hide in, giving a small frown when he noticed how tattered and torn up it looked. It certainly wouldn't make a good hiding spot anymore now. Beekit pressed into her mother's fur, feeling exhausted from the long trek back to camp. Coalhaze had spotted Vixenflame padding towards the nursery, and the large tom couldn't help but want to be near her. If anything, he wanted to make sure the camp was in shape again. Padding over towards her, he offered with a kind voice. "Need any help with that? I can reach the high up places for you, if you need." "The camp looks crazy..." Vulturekit frowned, unhappy with how everything looked. He noticed Skullkit looking at a particular bush, and he pawed his brother's shoulder. "Oi! What's wrong? Did you lose something over there or something?" Vixenflame looked up and gave Coalhaze a friendly smile, "Sure, I wouldn't mind the extra paws." She mewed, nudging some of the gathered materials closer to him. "I can focus on the larger gaps near the bottom while you take care of the ones on top. I want to get these big ones taken care of as soon as possible so that the queens and kits will be comfortable until we can fix it completely." She added, looking back at the damaged den. Skullkit was shaken out of his thoughts by Vulturekit's prodding paw and looked over at his brother, "Oh... no. I just thought it was a good hiding spot." He murmured, shrugging his shoulders. Maybe he could try fixing it himself? He glanced up at his mother briefly before his attention was drawn to his father when he came in with a strange cat. "Who's that?" He asked. Leopardshadow's attention was drawn away from her kits briefly when she spotted her mate come back into camp with a small black she-cat in tow. She gave a small flick of her ear as she watched him talk to Cedarstar briefly before he left again with the kit following after him. Leopardshadow looked back down at her kits, deciding that she would just ask him about it when he returned. She drew Beekit closer to her, the small she-kit starting to doze off.

Talltalon eyed the frog without any expression on his face, as though sizing up something with great intent. He narrowed his eyes, before he suddenly seemed to relax, an almost satisfied gleam crossing his eyes as he grunted once. "Not bad. Not bad at all. You'll need to work on the landing, but the execution was strong. You've now secured prey for one of our Queens, who feeds many of our kits. That's a lesson you need to learn. I can see the hunger in your eyes. Yet, the Code and Shadowclan itself live by the rule that Queens and kits are fed before any of us. We hunger, but we work hard to secure our future. The more you hunt, the more you can eat, if they prey pile's full." He paused with the stern lecture, before his voice softened a bit. "Well done, Pantherkit."

You can lead, and I'll do all the lifting and stuff." Coalhaze grinned with a hint of humor, before he seemed to grow more gentle and serious, moving to do as Vixenflame instructed. As they worked, he glanced over at her a few times, warmed by her presence. He mewed honestly. "I'm glad I could catch you to help you out. I always liked working with you most of all." Vulturekit snorted. "What the heck do you need to hide from? We're gonna be Warriors, not scaredy-cats!" His huffing was interrupted by the sight of their father entering and leaving Camp again with a young and unfamiliar cat. He bristled a bit, eyes sharp with annoyance. "That doesn't look like any Shadowclan cat I know!" He looked at his mother, pleading. "Who's that, is it a Thunderclan cat?"

She picked up the frog between her teeth and waited for further instructions. "One frog is good, but one frog also could be seen as luck." Talltalon rumbled, his tail flicking as he mewed. "We best try for a second one to show that you can repeat your process. Right now, I can't scent anymore. So, let's see how far you can track. Scent out another frog in another patch of the marsh, and you can count me satisfied." He instructed firmly.

"Better to work with me than your perfectionist brother. Honeycrest would probably be giving you an earful right about now." Vixenflame teased lightly, her paws making quick work on fixing one of the gaping holes in the wall of the nursery. She soon grew serious as well, her paws slowing as she spoke, "I'm glad that you offered to help too. I don't like being alone with my thoughts, and I wanted to stay close to the nursery in case Cherryvine needed anything." She sighed, peering in on her sister's sleeping form before she looked back up at Coalhaze with a small smile. "So, thanks, for helping and listening to me."
Skullkit frowned and looked back at Vulturekit, "I'm not scared." He huffed quietly, his tiny tail lashing in irritation. He looked up at his mother again, waiting to see what she would say about the strange cat.
Leopardshadow looked down at her kits, tapping Vulturekit lightly on the nose with her tail. "I'm sure we'll find out more when your father returns later. I doubt they came from ThunderClan, they aren't the type to let their kits go hungry and that little one looked half starved." She said.

"Okay. Could... could you carry this frog for me so I can scent better?" She shuffled slightly on her paws before handing Talltalon the frog and scenting the air again. When she didn't smell anything, she instead looked around for the nearest burbling stream and began following it. Surely, she thought, where there's water there's frogs nearby, right?
After a few minutes of walking she began to feel slightly discouraged but pushed away the feeling. Clan cats are patient. If I am to be a clan cat, then I must also be patient. It was harder to look for frogs when one of her eyes was missing; their patterns camouflaged against the murky water. But then, she had an idea. If she was walking along the edge then it would be easier for the frogs to see her coming and slip undetected into the water. So to combat that, maybe the key would be to stay still and watch for bubbles. She had heard from her mom that when frogs went underwater little bubbles came to the surface and that was how you knew there were frogs. So she sat down on a little ledge and watched with a careful eye for bubbles.
After a few minutes of waiting, her efforts payed off. A few bubbles emerged from the muck, which was soon followed by a small reptilian head poking up out of the water. She froze as it hesitantly hopped from the water to a couple of cattails where it climbed one of the stalks and sat there, croaking. When the situation was deemed safe enough, she crept around to a less deep part of the river and from there went over to the reeds where she sat stock still, re-finding the frog. As soon as she found it she pounced and once again caught a frog before carrying it up to Talltalon where she set it down at his feet.

Even so, while he still was a bit distant from his brother at the moment since their assessments, he knew Honeycrest well enough to know that Vixenflame wasn't wrong. His laughter faded lightly as she mentioned Cherryvine, and the large black tom shook his head softly. "I'd listen to anything you need, anytime. It's sad... what happened to Stormfury. I can't imagine how Cherryvine's feeling. But, you matter too, and I like seeing you happy, not sad." He admitted. Vulturekit seemed to weaken at that, his eyes averting as his voice grew hollow with a hint of loss and pain. "Is she like Willowkit? If she comes to our nest, will she be gone forever like Willowkit is?" He still had a hard time accepting the loss of their foster sister. Willowkit had been his best friend, and most energetic companion. Accepting that she was gone had changed something in the young tom, made him more weary and more determined to never see it happen again. He looked away from his mother, not wanting this new cat to be close to them if she was just going to follow the same fate.

She seemed to keen in on something about the water that he had only noticed from the more skilled hunters in the Clan. She seemed to use the water to her advantage, waiting for bubbles to rise up and lashing out at the location of the bubbles. He had to admit, Pantherkit was doing better than he expected. Even if she didn't seem to have the strongest build for combat, he had a feeling that she could become an excellent hunter, like Crystalsight or Hollowpool. He placed the frog in his jaws down, snorting lightly. "Looks like you've got the knack for hunting. That's good, considering that we're short on prey. That's likely all you'll be able to get today, but that's still better than catching nothing. I don't say this often, but well done."

I can't imagine losing anyone else, much less someone as close to me as Stormfury was to Cherryvine." Skullkit's ear flicked in concern when Vulturekit's voice changed, looking back at his brother. He hadn't been as close to Willowkit as Vulturekit had been, but seeing his brother in pain over her loss didn't sit well with him. "Why did papa leave with her again? Did Cedarstar send her away?" He asked his mother. "I don't know." Leopardshadow said, giving Vulturekit's head a reassuring lick. "But we'll know more soon enough, so just be patient, okay?"

But I know you and Hazelblaze are doing a whole lot to help Cherryvine out. That’s really selfless.” He complimented honestly. Vulturekit tried to brush his mother’s assurance away, but found himseld wanting her comfort more than anything. He remained crestfallen as he sighed. “If she’s a kit like us, I bet Cedarstar can’t send her away, right?”

Pantherkit smiled broadly and dipped her head in appreciation. "Thank you." Then she picked both of the frogs up in her mouth before setting back in the direction of the camp, purring almost silently to herself as she did so. When they got to the entrance however, she stopped and looked at Talltalon. "I don't know where to put them."

Vixenflame nodded in agreement, her eyes focused on her work. She had already seen what losing her mother had done to Bumbleskip, and she worried that it would do the same to Cherryvine now that Stormfury was gone. She gave herself a small shake, deciding to change the subject away from loss and grief. "Well, besides recent events, how has being a warrior been treating you?" She asked, looking up at him again.
Leopardshadow gave a small shake of her head, "The Warrior Code doesn't allow us to turn our backs on a kit that is in need, whether they are from another Clan or not. She looked a bit older than a kit, but still young enough to warrant our help." She said, glancing back at the camp entrance to watch for her mate's return.

(Gonna wait for Moon to post again before we bring Tall and Panther back into camp, if that's okay!)
"When we get inside, there's a prey-pile we can put them on. But, we'll show Cedarstar first. I'll describe your hunting to him." Talltalon mewed, flicking his long tail.

Coalhaze mewed proudly, before he glanced at Vixenflame with owlish indigo eyes. "And of course, I get to hang out with you in the same den again. I missed that alot." Vulturekit seemed to digest his mother's words with a small flick of his ears, before he mumbled. "I guess we have to help then. If that's what Warriors do." He decided, lifting his chin boldly once more. "I'm going to be the best Warrior in Shadowclan." He decided.

Vixenflame gave a small purr, "I think you did more than enough to earn your warrior name. I'm glad that you were able to become a one at the same time as your siblings though." She said, giving him a smile. "Being in the same den again is also a bonus as well, but at least if we want to go hunting we don't need our mentors with us anymore." Vixenflame added, looking at their slowly diminishing pile of materials.
"I don't doubt that." Leopardshadow said with a small purr, looking down at her three kits proudly. "All three of you will make ShadowClan proud one day, I'm sure of it."

Coalhaze humored, weaving material on a high spot on the den, before he fell back to his four paws and mewed. "It's much more fun when it's just the two of us. Nobody to nag us, or anything." "Not if Skullkit is too shy." Vulturekit snickered, recalling Skullkit's words of how good that bush would have been to hide in. He didn't mean it unkindly, yet it was clear that he wasn't able to understand why Skullkit wanted to shy away from most things.

Vixenflame stepped back to examine what they had finished so far, giving a small nod of satisfaction when she saw that the nursery was starting to look more like a den again now. "Well, now that the major holes have been fixed, we can go and get more materials if you would like?" She offered, looking back at Coalhaze. She had seen Hazelblaze talking with Cherryvine's kits earlier, so she knew that it should be okay if she stepped back for a bit. And she wouldn't mind spending more time with Coalhaze either.
"I'm not shy!" Skullkit snapped, turning his head sharply to glare at his brother. So what if he liked to hide in a bush every now and then? That didn't mean he was scared or shy!

Coalhaze seemed to perk up at the thought of being able to spend time with Vixenflame, his voice airy and content as he nodded. “Yeah, that sounds good. Maybe we can find some somewhat dry stuff out there, under a rock or something.” He humored.
Vulturekit gave a little scoff. “Well, you’re not with the other kits, but you sure like to hide in bushes when it’s me or Beekit.” He accused bitterly, seeming to opt to lift his muzzle away from his brother and shrug. “There’s all kinds of bushes you can hide in since that one’s now gone, I’ll even help you find one. So don’t get all sad about it, yeah?”

"I hope so." Vixenflame said, starting towards the camp entrance. "Dry materials would certainly be better than wet ones, it would be easier to work with." She added, glancing back at Coalhaze with a teasing look. "You can lift all the rocks you want, but I doubt we'll find anything dry under them."
"I'm not hiding from you guys." Skullkit grumbled, looking away from Vulturekit. "Am I not allowed to be friends with the other kits or something?" He asked.
"That's enough you two." Leopardshadow hushed them, wrapping her tail around the sleeping Beekit to keep her from waking up. "Why don't you run that energy you both have and go play? Just stay out of everyone's way and stay where I can see you, alright?"

Coalhaze joked, lifting his chin boldly as he nudged Vixenflame's shoulder. As they padded out of camp, he eyed all the water with a small puff. "Yeesh. It's a mess out here. Aw, my dad's going to be upset. I bet all his collections got swept away." He admitted, thinking of the small hollows where Goldberry would hide the small feathers, twoleg stones, and shiny strings he collected. "Friends! Ha, they're practically more your littermates than we are!" Vulturekit snorted, shooting a pointed look at Skullkit, before his mother's firm yet assuring mew made him avert his gaze to the side to hide his envy. He instead opted to sound unfazed, wanting to seem less bothered than he really was. "I can play something by myself, if Skullkit wants to go play with the other kits. It's fine." He shrugged airily.

"We could have had another too." Mouseclaw murmured quietly, flashing back to Cedarstar's rash banishment of Opalmist. He shook his head, glancing around for more of the plant. "No other plants are jumping out at me. We should hurry back though, we're going to have to just take what we can from this plant." "Do you ever think an alliance like that could happen again? From the prey-maulers or something else? I can't imagine living with the other clans somewhere that wasn't our camp." Duskpaw mused, eyes lighting up as she found a small swath of cobwebs. Littlemoon glanced at Mouseclaw at his comment, but didn't say anything. She took one more scan of the area. "I'm not seeing anymore. Let's get what you found back quickly." Whorlpaw wrinkled her nose. "I don't know. I hope not because I don't want things to get so bad we need one, but it could be cool training with apprentices from other Clans. Father never talked much about his days at highstones." Mouseclaw nodded as he carefully picked up the herb and headed back to camp as fast as his legs would carry him. He was going to need a long nap after all this excitement. Duskpaw swiped a paw blindly into a small hollow, making a face when her paw hit a gooey piece of algae. "Maybe it was uneventful for the most part. I know for a while we had Skyclan cats living in our camp with us. That would be strange wouldn't it? If Warblerpaw and Flyingpaw were in our camp with us?"

"Protecting our kits is a clan-wide task. It's part of our warrior code. I would lay down my life for any of our clanmate's kits and I know they'd do the same for us." Starrylight murmured gently. "I know this isn't ideal timing, but we can't go back now. We can only do our best to keep all of our kits safe with the help of each other and our clanmates. " Cedarstar nodded and leaned against her. He watched Palepaw's heavy breathing, but at least his breathing seemed consistent. "I am excited, though," he muttered softly. "To meet our new kits. Palepaw, Whorlpaw, and Duskpaw will be great older siblings too." "They'll be wonderful siblings." Starrylight purred. "All three of them have already grown into such caring cats. The younger kits will look up to them so much."

Rustlepaw had finished doing her best to sort through the materials for the Warriors to use, recognizing different textures and scents and diving them by that. She couldn't see the Camp of course, but she could scent how the water washed away so many familiar scents. The layout of camp had changed, and it was much harder to navigate now that all the familiar landmarks were different. Even so, she refused to complain, her belly tight with worry for her mentor. Was Palepaw going to be alright? She took in a deep breath, releasing it gently.

Spottedpaw padded out of the medicine cat den after dropping off the herbs. Spotting his sister, he hurried over to her side. Making sure his usual light steps were a bit louder so she could sense him coming. "Rustlepaw? Can I help?"

Rustlepaw didn't face her brother, but she did know what direction he was in based on his voice. She perked up a bit, hoping that her brother could take her mind off of her worry. She mewed, tail flicking to the half-organized pile of materials. "I'm sorting these by material type. Over there is marsh grass. Over there is bracken and bramble. Over here is sticks and logs." She motioned to the direction of each pile, before she continued. "You can help as much as you like. I wanted to hear you anyway."

Vixenflame sighed as she glanced around the territory as they walked, "No kidding. We'll be lucky if we find anything dry on the ground." She said, looking back at Coalhaze. "Maybe we can keep an eye out for anything that might be from his collections? Some might not have gone far, right?" She suggested. "I can play with you..." Skullkit mumbled, looking down at his paws. Had his friendship with Hailkit and the others really upset his brother that much? "Maybe mossball? Is there any dry moss?" He suggested, looking back at Vulturekit.
