"I'm telling you, I could find some dry stuff, all you got to do is watch me." Coalhaze joked, lifting his chin boldly as he nudged Vixenflame's shoulder. As they padded out of camp, he eyed all the water with a small puff. "Yeesh. It's a mess out here. Aw, my dad's going to be upset. I bet all his collections got swept away." He admitted, thinking of the small hollows where Goldberry would hide the small feathers, twoleg stones, and shiny strings he collected. "Friends! Ha, they're practically more your littermates than we are!" Vulturekit snorted, shooting a pointed look at Skullkit, before his mother's firm yet assuring mew made him avert his gaze to the side to hide his envy. He instead opted to sound unfazed, wanting to seem less bothered than he really was. "I can play something by myself, if Skullkit wants to go play with the other kits. It's fine." He shrugged airily. Vixenflame sighed as she glanced around the territory as they walked, "No kidding. We'll be lucky if we find anything dry on the ground." She said, looking back at Coalhaze. "Maybe we can keep an eye out for anything that might be from his collections? Some might not have gone far, right?" She suggested. "I can play with you..." Skullkit mumbled, looking down at his paws. Had his friendship with Hailkit and the others really upset his brother that much? "Maybe mossball? Is there any dry moss?" He suggested, looking back at Vulturekit. "You'd do that? For my father, I mean." Coalhaze blinked, quickly adjusting his words to make sure she felt she was doing it for Goldberry, not because Coalhaze wanted an excuse to spend more time with her. He gave a big grin. "He'd be really happy if we did find some of his stuff. Okay. We can keep an eye out and take it with us if we find any. You're really considerate, you know that?" He looked at her warmly. Vulturekit was silent for a moment, wanting to stubbornly turn his back. Yet, a part of him was also hopeful at the idea that Skullkit actually did want to play with him. He always felt like his brother didn't want to be near him, which made him want to push him away more if only to feel better about himself. He shrugged, but turned to glance at Skullkit. "Well... I like mossball. Sure. I guess we can play that." He glanced at the nursery entrance, where some moss was piled up, waiting to dry. He nodded. "We can use one of those, right? I bet it's dried a bit by now."

Spottedpaw stepped forward to bump their shoulders together, "Thanks Rustlepaw." he mewed quietly, setting to work beside her sorting the materials. "The camp is a mess. It'll take days to clean up all the debris." "It feels different. Nothing's in the right place." Rustlepaw agreed, though inwardly she kept it to herself that it meant she would have to relearn her "sight" of the camp all over again. It wasn't in her nature to complain, so instead she mewed. "Are all the dens going to stay in the same place? Or do you know if they'll want to change them?"

"The main structure of the dens are still in the same spots so I'm sure they'll keep them where they are. If the entrances move I'll let you know." Spottedpaw mewed with a small smile. "It'd be silly to start all over again when some of dens are still intact."

Everyone's scents were all still the same, but she had already lost her way once when trying to find the elder's den entrance a few moments ago. Staying and sorting the materials gave her time to calm her sliver of panic. She mewed. "Times like these grant me some relief. I will never see what the camp looked like before and after, so I can't feel that kind of loss. For that, I'm grateful I can't see." She admitted, before apologizing. "I'm sorry, that you have to come back and see it look so different."

"But you're gonna have to tell me what we're looking for though. I'm not exactly sure what it is that your father had in his collections." She added. Skullkit padded towards the pile of moss and prodded it before he clawed out enough to make a mossball for them to play with, "I think it's dry enough for us." He mewed, rolling it into a ball and then batting it in Vulturekit's direction.

I know she wasn't born here, but Starclan would like her alot... don't you think?" He seemed to be trying to cope with his grief, believing that she was safe and playing mossball with other kits up there. If she wasn't, he was afraid his heart would shatter apart.

Rustlepaw nodded in agreement with her brother. Thank Starclan that she hadn’t lost one of her family members. But the scent of Cherryvine’s despair was strong in the air. She mused. “Cardinalblaze seems more confident. The way his voice changed, ever so slightly. Like he knew exactly where to go. If I can be even half as good as he was, then I’ll too be a good apprentice of Cedarstar.” She offered a small smile. “But my heroes are the blind Warriors that we were told about. They became legends! I want to be one too.”

"Rustlestar! The first blind leader of the clans. I bet you could do it." Spottedpaw said with a purr, "If any cat can, I'd be you." Spottedpaw didn't have such grand visions of himself, he was content just to be a good warrior to the clan and be a good father one day. He knew Rustlepaw had slightly bigger ambitions though, and he whole-heartedly believed that she could fulfill them.

Spottedpaw didn't have such grand visions of himself, he was content just to be a good warrior to the clan and be a good father one day. He knew Rustlepaw had slightly bigger ambitions though, and he whole-heartedly believed that she could fulfill them. "Me? A leader?" Rustlepaw mewed softly, the idea seeming very delightful deep down. Not for some kind of determined ambition, but simply because she wondered if she was capable of doing that, of becoming a leader. She knew how stressful it was for Cedarstar, but knowing that Cardinalblaze could be deputy, and he had been Cedarstar's apprentice, would that mean she would have been considered, had she been in the older tom's paws? She pushed the thoughts away, humming. "You seem like you'd be more content as a patrol leader, like your mentor. Lynxdapple goes on so many of them, it's got to get you tired." She teased.

Spottedpaw laughed as he dug through the last of his pile, separating twigs from sturdy branches. "Yeah, that's sounds good. Just a regular dependable warrior. Leading patrols every day? That doesn't sound too bad. Though, I want to have a family one day and then maybe I'll want to take a break. Do you want to have kits some day Rustlepaw?"

Rustlepaw trailed off, a part of her trying not to think of the very deep-set fear that she had that nobody would want a blind mate, who couldn't see them to appreciate their looks. She knew it was silly to think that, but she also hadn't found herself close to anyone like Spottedpaw was to Fuzzypaw, or Coalhaze had been to Vixenflame. She mused softly. "I haven't thought about it much. I don't think there's really anyone I can see myself to even have kits."

"As long as you're happy, I'll be happy for you." "I'll be happy when Cedarstar gets a break from all of this suffering." Rustlepaw mewed honestly, her ears flicking as her voice grew deep with concern. "He acts... odd, sometimes. I can't describe it, but his voice changes, the way he speaks, not often, but enough times that it makes me concerned. I can't tell if he's just tired, or if something is really bothering him that he won't tell me about." She admitted.

"He does have a lot going on. He probably is tired a lot of the time. Now even more so with Palepaw being injured and Starrylight about to have their second litter any day now. I can't imagine having all of that on my shoulders. I hope Cardinalblaze can help take some of the duties from him so he can focus on Palepaw and the new kits." Spottedpaw replied, scrapping his claws lightly against some pine needles in the pile in front of him. "He hasn't been neglecting your training at all though has he?"

He still trains me when he can." Rustlepaw assured. "And when he can't, I often join Cardinalblaze's sessions, since he's the only one who would know how Cedarstar moves. Though, it's not as easy for him. Somehow, Cedarstar seems to know exactly how to work with my blindness. It's always impressed me." She admitted.

Even Closesky’s exceptional lessons and teachings didn’t seem to be as structured towards blind cats as Cedarstar’s was. It was as if he had mentored a blind cat before, yet she knew that was not the case. “I’m grateful either way, that he at least seems to know what to do.”

"Me too." Spottedpaw agreed quietly. "I'd be lost in the apprentice's den without you. I know Mama and Papa were worried when we were young that you would be forced to live a life as a medicine cat or something. I'm glad they never pushed that on you, and that the clan never did either."

Rustlepaw mewed softly, her expression soft with a deep empathy that she inherited from her father. "I like to think they're all together, in Starclan. But if I had to imagine, they'd probably be very brave, and maybe good fighters like our parents. I bet they would look very nice, even if I couldn't ever see them." She decided.

Vixenflame watched Coalhaze bound ahead of her with an amused twitch of her whiskers, following after him at a slower pace. "Of course, I don't want to end up with a scratched nose, that's for sure." She said, padding over to a fallen log and inspecting around it to find anything that was dry. Spotting some bracken, Vixenflame prodded it with a paw before giving a small nod and starting to pull it up, "This isn't too bad. A bit damp, but we can lay it out to dry before we use it on anything." She mewed to Coalhaze. Skullkit jumped up to catch the mossball and landed back on all four paws, "Want to make it interesting? Whoever drops the mossball first loses." He suggested, his tail flicking back and forth in excitement at the thought of a challenge. Hooking the mossball in his claws, Skullkit tossed it as far as he could towards Vulturekit.

"That sounds like it'll work." Coalhaze nodded, excited that he was now able to go out of Camp with Vixenflame without having to wait for a Warrior to accompany him. He bounded out in front of her, listing off. "We'll need marsh grass, bracken, probably some brambles, but avoid the thorns, ya know?" Vulturekit kicked around the mossball quietly for a moment, before he tossed it back to Skullkit to catch, his yellow eyes flashing with something unreadable as he mewed. "Yeah. I guess she is. I can't really bring her back, so... that's all I can really think of where she'd be. You're getting better at this, your throws aren't as tiny anymore." He challenged. Hooking the mossball in his claws, Skullkit tossed it as far as he could towards Vulturekit. Coalhaze moved to assist her in pulling up the bracken, large clumps coming up with the large tom's strong pulls. He giggled as a few fronds smacked his nose, before he laid them down carefully to pile them up properly. "Now that the sun's probably going to come back out full force, it'll dry faster than you think." He looked at Vixenflame, blinking at her, before his fur warmed and he quickly looked away. It was probably weird to look that long, at least he assumed that was what she would think. Vulturekit seemed to perk up at the prospect of a real competition, his eyes flashing with determination as he grinned. "Looks like you'll be losing then, Skullkit!" He rushed over to catch and toss the mossball before it could touch the ground, soaring over towards Skullkit once again.
