Fuzzypaw's ears warmed with Rustlepaw's admission, and she couldn't help the purr that bubbled in her throat. "Yeah? I've always wanted a sister," she meowed softly, oblivious to the potential hidden meaning. "I can tell she's a secret softie, and Mouseclaw too." She quickly fluffed out her fur, suddenly embarrassed. "Don't tell her I said that though!" Continuing, she tilted her head. "I should get to know Buckpaw better. He's like me, he doesn't remember anything before ShadowClan..." With this, a pang of pain shot through her head and she sucked in a breath before shaking it off. Rustlepaw purred for a moment, before it slowed down to a quiet hum. “It’s something you two can relate with deeply. I’m so glad that you both are here with us, but… I only wish that you didn’t have to carry such a burden, that kind of missing knowledge.” She flicked an ear, asking with blunt honesty. “Fuzzypaw, do you want to try and look for your kin, like Willowkit? Maybe we could find some clue, somewhere, if we looked for it… well, ah. You do the looking, I do the tracking.”

Fuzzypaw sobered for a moment, her tail tip flicking back and forth. She'd never really considered it before. There'd always been a blank wall where her memories should've been, the ones from before she awoke on the streambed at the back edge of the territory. Every so often, she would get a fleeting feeling of familiarity like a passing breeze, but it would quickly fade.
She chuckled at Rustlepaw's joke, then answered the other apprentice. "I don't know," she said honestly. "I'm not sure where we'd look, maybe where I woke up? Then again, I don't even know if they would want me..." she trailed off. "Sometimes, I'll have weird dreams, or maybe a moment where I think I'll remember, but then my head starts to hurt so I give up," she sighed.
"But if anyone could track them down, I'm sure it would be you!" she said.

Rustlepaw was silent for a long moment, before she admitted. “At the first gathering I ever went to, I heard alot from the other apprentices. I heard that Riverclan’s deputy had a similar experience to you. Found and raised in Riverclan with little to no memory of his kin. But, his mother found her way back to him, a long time later. Winterfrost, that was her name. All that time, and they found eachother again. So, I have hope that it can happen, if you have faith it will.” She offered.

Fuzzypaw gave a strained smile even though the other apprentice couldn't see it.
"Maybe," she said. A nagging voice whispered that her family was gone, but she couldn't make sense of it. "Thank you, Rustlepaw, really. If I don't ever find them, I don't think it would matter. You and all of ShadowClan, that's more than enough for me."

Rustlepaw turned her head in the direction of Fuzzypaw’s voice, her face unreadable, yet her voice full of care. “Nothing can ever change the fact that you belong here, Fuzzypaw. Whether or not you do ever want to find them, you have a home here with me, and Spottedpaw, and everyone. Besides, we need you here to tell the harrowing tale of dropping a pinecone on Cliffheart’s head to future generations.” Her whiskers twitched as she gave her usual innocent and dry wit of humor.

Fuzzypaw about choked on her laugh, ultimately failing to contain it. It bubbled from her chest in giggles, then into full-on belly-laughing. "I-I guess I do need to be here for that!" she gasped out, trying to calm down but bursting into laughter again as she imagined it. "Oh I hope he can laugh about it with us too one day! It really was funny!"

She wished she could have seen it happen, know what everyone and everything looked like in that moment. But, she was content with the sound of such genuine laughter. “I’m sure he’ll forgive you, sooner than you think, even if he is in a bind right now. Who can stay mad at you, Fuzzypaw?”

Fuzzypaw ducked her head, rolling to her side and playfully batting at Rustlepaw's tail. "Aw, come on, you'll give a bigger head than Honeyp-crest," she purred. "Speaking of, it seems so roomy without those three in the den, huh?"

"Speaking of, it seems so roomy without those three in the den, huh?" “He’s got enough smarts to back up a bigger head.” Rustlepaw admitted with a small giggle, remembering the older tom’s clever tactics, and able to hear the way his demeanor would change around cats he cared about. As snarky and haughty as he seemed, she did already miss him and his siblings in the den. “It’s odd to not hear or scent them each night now. Whorlpaw was real quick to take Honeycrest’s nest, but honestly Coalhaze’s is huge… but I think I miss Crystalsight the most. She’s so kind, I loved hearing her talk.” Rustlepaw admitted.

"Yeah, he is really smart," she agreed. Fuzzypaw purred. "Two cats could share Coalhaze's nest, probably! It was fun to all share a den, but them moving out did let us s****** away from the wall a bit."

Spiderfang looked pointedly at her mate, though her gruff voice was tinged with a soothing tone. “It’s different when we are not the ones who kitted him, or know where he came from. Whoever his family was, either they are very far away, or they were cruel enough to abandon him… but if he does leave, we have to remember that his life and his choices are his own, and we can’t stop that. We can do our best to prepare him for life, and make him strong.” She nodded, brushing close to her kind-hearted mate. “Of course you can learn.” Opalmist mewed with an almost forced expression, desperation churning in her. Maybe she could at least give Shadowclan one last solution before her fate caught up with her. She swallowed. “In fact, you can learn as much as you like from me. Who knows what fate has in store… Shadowclan may need another medicine cat, if anything were to happen to me and Snowdance, hm?” Mouseclaw sighed but resigned himself, knowing Spiderfang was right. He laid his head on her shoulder gently, soothed further by her presence. "Yes, We'll help raise him the best as we can, he's already so strong." he replied, pride evident in his tone. He chuckled soft and fond, licking Spiderfang's ear. "How do you always know what to say? You've always been the strongest cat I've known." Mistkit looked at Opalmist curiously, something inside of her churned with anxiety at Opalmist's intesity, but the young kit was unable to place what would be making the medicine cat so tense. "I want to learn everything you'd like to show me. Anything at all. I want to help my clan!"

I know my older sister loves me, but it’s been hard to get a read on her kits. They’re basically my age, but I know hardly anything about them.” She fretted.

And then you came in, and you gave me all this.” She glanced around camp, eyeing Lionscorch near the nursery, and Leaffrost at Ratmask’s side, as she usually was, and then to where Rustlepaw and Fuzzypaw were talking, before rounding back to Spottedpaw when she could catch a glimpse of him. “I never thought I would have all this. Really. Never thought I’d be happy enough ever again to let a cat as good as you want a cat as rough as me. But, you’ve always run head-first into everything.” She pressed her muzzle once to his ear. “I know what to say because I know you.” “Good. A medicine cat who’s eager to learn is one that’s on the path of success.” Opalmist nodded, turning to look at the herb store. “Let’s start with what you might know. Do you already know any of these herbs, or what they do?”

Fuzzypaw frowned, consoling her friend with a swipe of her tail along her side. "That must be hard," she mewed. "But they're apprentices now! So now we'll all be working and sleeping and training together; I'm sure you'll get plenty of chances to talk to them! As for the wall..."
Fuzzypaw chuckled. "Well, you, me, and Spottedpaw are still pretty close to it ourselves so we'll at least keep each other company. Lightpaw seems really nice! Longpaw..." Fuzzypaw trailed off, not sure what to say about the grumpy young tom.

I'm trying to get on every day but I've got a lot going on at the moment.) Willowkit let out a big yawn as she opened her eyes. She could hear the birds chirping and feel the twinkle of sunshine on her back as it shone through the trees. Slowly, she pushed herself to her paws and craned her neck towards the entry of the nursery. She was still getting use to her place here, but she was also getting more comfortable trying to explore. The she-kit smiled to herself and slowly put one paw in front of the other as she crouched her way for the entry to see if she could sneak up on some unsuspecting cat.

Which, is totally not true!” Rustlepaw admitted with a twinge of sadness. “I hope they know that I always wanted to be close to them. That, at least, I don’t ever think less of them.” She flicked an ear. “Though, I understand the other apprentices. They can be difficult to get along with. My sister is loving, but most think she’s odd. And Starclan knows Ratmask isn’t known for being a social ray of sunlight.” She admitted.

He knew many of their clanmates did not understand how the two of them fit together so well, he would be the first to admit despite his appearance he had always been soft-hearted. "Onyxheart called me insane when I told her I thought I loved you." he admitted, a small smile on his face as he thought of his sister. "She said we'd never work out, I would get my heart broken by you. But, she didn't know how much I already knew you. How I had been trailing after you on patrols for sunrises, sneaking into every training session just to spend more time with you. I knew you wouldn't break my heart, and if you did... well it would have been worth it. I've been following behind you for as long as I can remember, you've never really been alone Spiderfang." (my heart, I love them ) Mistkit settled beside Opalmist, eyes sweeping across the herb store. Her ears perked as she caught sight of the familiar bark. "Ashrock taught me about this one! It's alder bark, you can chew it up and it helps with toothaches."

(I LOVE THEM <3 ) Spiderfang seemed to show a rare sort of fluster at the meaningful words, though she quickly regained control of herself to give a deep and rusty purr. She looked at him, orange eyes flickering with an energy she had once thought she’d never have again. “Onyxheart always was protective. I don’t blame her, had it been any other cat, I probably would have clawed their ears for even trying to be at my tail… but, when my training ended, and you took over as Closesky’s apprentice after me, I knew you’d understand me in ways others couldn’t. That you’d understand that I need my claws out to give everything I could for Shadowclan.” She nudged his side with her shoulder, humming. “Thank you then. For never letting me be alone. I only hope that I’ve indeed been worth the effort.” “That’s correct. Ashrock isn’t wrong, that is indeed what it’s for. Now. Most toothaches will come with some pain. Do you know what we use to treat any general pain?” Opalmist asked, already impressed with Mistkit’s intelligence. She was clearly born for this den, and it made Opalmist’s heart ache.

Mouseclaw's eyes settled on on Rustlepaw as she spoke animatedly with Fuzzypaw, affection for their children always evident in his eyes. "I would do it over a hundred times more if it got us to the same result. Starclan hasn't made it easy for us, there were plenty of moments of doubt, you and I both know that. But my love for you and our family has never wavered. You loving me and me loving you, that was the one constant I know I could always count on. The one constant I will continue to count on even when we're walking through the fields of Starclan. If Starclan ever gives cats a second chance, I hope we fall in love all over again." he mewed, turning back to look at her. He smiled as his eyes flickered to the first signs of gray on her muzzle, he knew his must look the same. They were no longer the young cats they used to be, but she was still as beautiful to him as she had always been.

Mistkit moved forward to inspect the herbs more closely. She pawed at a poppy seed, knowing she had seen Snowdance give a couple of these to the patrol after they had gotten back from the carrion place. "These right?" she said, voice more unsure.

Fuzzypaw hummed, beginning to groom her paws. "Maybe you should tell them? In plain words? I know I don't really get something until it's practically on my nose," she suggested. She frowned, a twinge in her chest as she thought of her own, deep-hidden desire to prove herself as worthy of her place among warriors. "It's hard to feel like you don't quite fit in right."

"Starclan, you're such a sap. What would I do without you, huh?" Spiderfang rumbled as she looked at Mouseclaw, his words pulling at her stony heart with so much meaning that it ached. It was always shocking to her, how deeply he loved her, and how deeply she returned that love. She hummed. "When Starclan calls for us, I'll make sure we go to them together. I don't think I have it in me, to see another cat go without me."
"That's correct." Opalmist praised the kit with a gentle purr. She looked at Mistkit, and felt a sharp pang of pain as she wondered how it would have been, had she chosen to raise Echowing, Dreamlily, and Whisperstone at her belly, had she somehow found a way to reveal the secret to the Clan so long ago. Now, feeling such a gentle pride for Mistkit, she felt agonized that surely her own kits must have felt that she never loved them. How could she blame them? She had chosen her role as a Medicine Cat over her role as a mother, and for that, she wondered if Starclan would ever accept her back, even if she had to pay with her life. She pushed the panicked thoughts away, trying to compose herself.
"These are poppy seeds, and they can be found nearly anywhere. They help to reduce any kind of pain." She instructed.
Rustlepaw gave a thoughtful hum, though she released a soft sigh and admitted. "I'm not sure Longpaw would even want to hear what I'd have to say. He did not when we were kits, and he's even more distant now. Maybe it would be better if I gave them the space they seem to want... I don't know. This stuff is hard." She admitted.

Fuzzy paw sympathetically placed a paw on Rustlepaw's side, a deep frown etched on her face. To see her friend sad made her sad, too.
"I'm sorry," she mewed sincerely. "It does seem really hard. I'll always be here to fill the space, if you want!"

Mouseclaw's eyes steeled as he nodded, "We go together, always. I don't want to walk the forest without you by my side." He vowed quietly. The tom sighed, resting his head on his paws. "How did we get so old?" he asked with a hint of humor. "Our grandkits are apprentices. I feel like my own apprentice ceremony just happened a couple of sunrises ago."
Mistkit scooped up a poppy seed in her paw, inspecting it as she murmured "Poppy seed" back to herself. Once she was satisfied with her analysis, she carefully placed the seed back into its pile, looking back up at Opalmist curiously. "How do you know how many seeds to give to a cat?"

Perhaps she could sneak up on him! Willowkit could see him not too far away. If she could just leave the entrance without being seen, she could go into attack mode! He'd never even know what hit him! Willowkit glanced over at Pearlkit and attempted to weave around the other she-kit.
