Whorlpaw lightly tossed her eyes. "Oh how relieved I am to meet your standards, Honeypaw." Longkit followed his sister's signal. "I'll go first and try to pave the way. My fur shouldn't snag as much as yours. Keep an eye out so we're not followed." Kinkfire furrowed her brow. That didn't sound good. "And Cedarstar's out there alone?" She rolled her eyes. Why was she not surprised? She stuck her head in the warrior's den. "Stormcloud, Lynxdapple, and Shortcloud, immediate patrol! Let's go!" "Hmph." Honeypaw grunted, though he soon loosened up and shook his head. "I doubt my standards matter much compared to senior warriors, deputies or leaders. We should probably go check and see if we're needed for duties." He reminded, glancing out towards the rest of the camp. He looked at Closesky and nodded. "Thank you for your time." "Got it!" Lightkit whispered excitedly, her face becoming overtly serious as she took her duty seriously. They had to be stealthy, nobody could catch them. She edged closer after her brother, waiting for him to slip through the wall. Lynxdapple padded quickly from across camp, the small Warrior blinking curiously and with concern at the younger she-cat. He then looked at Shortcloud and Stormcloud. "Is something wrong? I don't remember being on a patrol right now." He hummed, though it was clear he was more than ready to go if he did need to be on one.

"Apparently there's something new in the territory." Kinkfire nodded a curt greeting to Shortcloud, Stormcloud, and Lynxdapple. She motioned to Rustlepaw. "New enough that has Cedarstar concerned. He's out there investigating, but we have to go back him up. Hopefully, we reach my brother before he gets himself into anymore trouble." Kinkfire looked at Rustlepaw. "Which end of the territory were you two on?"
Closesky nodded back to Honeypaw. "I should be thanking you for taking up some of it. I'm always open to apprentice who need to work things out." He smirked and gave a pointed lick of his claws. "One way or another."
Longkit wiggled his butt as he pushed his way into the hole in the wall. He grunted a couple times, having to crawl on his belly in order to get under the tightly woven brambles enough to push them up and make room for Lightkit. There was probably a less complicated and painful way out of camp, but this seemed the one where'd they less likely get caught. "Ow." Longkit grumbled a curse his father often used when a bramble pricked him in the side. "Stupid brambles."

"Something new?" Lynxdapple gave a concerned look. The small tom blinked tersely. "I don't like the sound of that. If Cedarstar sent Rustlepaw back by herself, it must be pretty important." He looked at his clanmates before waiting for Rustlepaw to lead the way.
"We were right near the edge of the territory, nearly over the border of it." Rustlepaw explained, her head turning in the direction of the far border and towards the general area towards Windclan. "I can take you there." She nodded, determined to get back to her mentor.
"I would think so, with how many you apprenticed during your time as a Warrior." Honeypaw observed, looking at the elder inquisitively before he straightened his posture and nodded to Whorlpaw. "I think I see a patrol gathering out there... odd, the patrols went out for the day." He mumbled, poking his head out from the den.
Lightkit winced when she heard Longkit's exclamation. She quickly moved after him, wanting to make sure that he wasn't hurt. "Longkit!" She whispered, wiggling herself into the wall. "Are you okay?"

Shortcloud listened carefully, uneasy at the mention of Cedarstar investigating something unknown by himself. After the fire and everything else going on, it would do ShadowClan no good to have the leader injured - or worse. "WindClan?" she questioned as she followed along with the others. "Do they know something we don't?"

"That's a good question," Kinkfire glanced back at Shortcloud. She took steps toward the main entrance for Rustlepaw to hear they were ready to go. "Was it by the WindClan border or the back territory? After the way Swiftstar treated us at the gathering, I wouldn't be surprised if WindClan tried to pull something on us."
"That's Rustlepaw," Whorlpaw blinked when she followed Honeypaw's gaze. "My father took her out this morning." She looked around camp. "But I don't see him anywhere."
"Just scratched," Longkit snorted at his own foolishness. He needed to be more careful, but he wasn't going to pause long enough to clean the small wound across his muzzle. "But it'll be worth it. Come on, we're almost through!" He could see the faint light from the other side of the wall. All he had to do was nudge a few more brambles out of the way and they'd be out of the camp!

“More towards the back territory, I would say. I’d have to go there again to get my bearings, but… but I’m confident it’s there. I would have thought it was another Clan too, but there were no other scents besides… whatever that scent was.” Rustlepaw sounded nervous, a rarity for the usually optimistic and relaxed she-cat. She calmed lightly when she felt Lynxdapple touch his muzzle gently to her shoulder before the small tom lifted his head and looked at Kinkfire.
“Whoever is behind this, we best not let Cedarstar handle it alone. I’m ready for anything, if you guys are.” He mewed, confident and fearless. Rustlepaw felt herself wanting to imitate that kind of bravery, and certainly Kinkfire, Shortcloud and Stormcloud’s instant ease of handling any dangers in front of them.
“Hm.” Honeypaw instantly looked curious, eyes narrowing as he watched the patrol gather around the apprentice. He glanced at Whorlpaw. “Would it be crass to say I am intently curious? Why would Rustlepaw come back alone?”
“We’ve got to be the sneakiest cats in the Clan! That was a piece of prey!” Lightkit whispered with glee as she crawled after her brother.

Kinkfire nodded to Lynxdapple, but hummed in response to Rustlepaw. "Then we shouldn't keep my foolish brother waiting. There's no telling what he might run into. Let's go."
"I'm curious too." Whorlpaw glanced at Honeypaw. "My father would never leave an apprentice alone. Something must be going on."
"Or we're just that overlooked," Longkit stated dryly. He finally wiggled himself free on the other side of the wall. He shook out his pelt and ran his paw over the bleeding scratch on his nose, but when he caught sight of the towering, dark trees, he stilled. "Woah..."

Lynxdapple nodded, quickly falling into step behind Kinkfire and Rustlepaw. Hopefully, whatever the scent was wasn't something dangerous, but a small part of him knew far better. Knowing their luck, nothing good would come of it. Just what Shadowclan needed now, he thought grimly.
Rustlepaw quickly hopped towards the direction of Kinkfire's voice, praying to Starclan that she could push her nerves away enough to focus and help guide the way.
Honeypaw frowned lightly. It was kittish and immature to poke noses around, and yet something like this pulled too hard at his innate curiosity. If Shadowclan was in any kind of danger, he wanted and needed to know. He looked at Whorlpaw again before he contemplated. "Should we try and follow them? Or wait until they come back?"
Lightkit flicked her ears at his words, hoping it wasn't true, though a small part of her did agree. She shook the thought from her head, determined to be a worthy Warrior of Shadowclan. She opened her jaws to voice her determination, only to stumble and stare around the towering pines and grasses with awe.
"It's... it's amazing!" She squeaked, heart fluttering with the thrill of adventure. "We did it!"

(I'm gonna wait for Frozen and Ice before continuing with the patrol)
"We could get into trouble if we sneak after a patrol." Whorlpaw flicked her ear in unease. "I think we should wait until they get back. If it's important, father will address the Clan or Cloudscar will bring it up to the patrols."
"It's so big..." Longkit's voice was an awed whisper. "There's just so much." Who knew there were this many sights and new smells just on the other side of the wall. He looked around and honestly didn't know which direction to take. There was so much to explore!

Shortcloud fell in with the rest of the patrol, thinking ahead and taking in the nearby scents as they went. She wasn't able to detect anything unusual yet, but she hoped it would remain that way. If what they were going to find ahead truly was dangerous, she wanted it as far away from camp as possible.

There was so much to explore! “Wise decision.” Honeypaw nodded, knowing then that getting too curious could possibly jeopardize his ceremony to Warriorhood. He flicked a curled ear, grunting lightly. “The wait will be frustrating, but the answers will be worth it. I am sure Cedarstar is fine. Perhaps this is a training session for Rustlepaw.” He mused. “We gotta find Carrionplace, right? How are we going to start even looking for it in all of this?” Lightkit breathed, blinking away her shock and giving Longkit an excited but curious look.

Whorlpaw flicked her ear in doubt. This seemed like a strange training session if it was. "We could do something while we wait. To distract ourselves from it."
Longkit flattened his ears, but he furrowed his brow to think about it. The warriors said that the carrionplace was near the back end of the territory and the camp entrance faced Fourtrees. Where they wiggled out, he guessed they were facing the direction of the WindClan border. "We should go that way." Longkit turned toward the right and nodded. "That's my best estimate."

"The real question is what we could do." Honeypaw responded with a flick of his ear, before he looked around the camp slowly. So far, it seemed like a normal day in camp. The dens had already been repaired, the prey pile was looking decent, as well as it could while the territory was still growing back. He huffed lightly, though a small smirk crossed his face. "You're the creative one, you give a solution."
"You're the smartest cat I know, so you've gotta be right." Lightkit nodded, letting Longkit take the lead. If anything, she was still gaping at all the new sights. "I can't believe we didn't sneak out before! Cedarstar will have to make us apprentices if we bring back a big bird or two." She scampered after him, entranced by all the pinecones around them.

Whorlpaw tilted her head in thought. "Hm...well, we could go sneaking off after Coalpaw and Ashrock. That'll definitely distract you from whatever's going on and it's not like we'll get in trouble if we get caught."
"Yeah." A slow grin was spreading on Longkit's face. The prospect of actually catching a bird and proving to the Clan how worthy they actually were. It was exciting! "Come on!" He darted off.

"Now that is an idea I can get behind." Honeypaw nodded quickly, still feeling a flicker of protectiveness for his brother's sake. If Ashrock was really sneaking him away to train, Honeypaw at least wanted to see it being done for Coalpaw's benefit. He stood to his paws, nodding to Whorlpaw. "Let's go track them down, shall we?"
"Right behind ya!" Lightkit exclaimed, darting after her brother with a gleam of excitement in her eyes. Finally, they were out of camp and hunting like Warriors! Was this what her mother and father felt like each time they went hunting, or on patrol? She wanted to be out here forever! She took in all the new smells, fur prickling as the sensations flooded her brain. "Look at how big the territory is! How do the Warriors not get lost?"

"First places to check are the medicine den and apprentice den." Whorlpaw nodded and stood up. "I'll check the medicine den for Ashrock. You look for your brother in the apprentice den."
"I guess if they patrol it all the time, they get used to it. Like how we got used to camp." Longkit kept running, but made sure his sister remained close. They had to be the first kits to do this! Their father would even have to proud of them for the catch they'd bring back!

(we've been snail posting. Cedarstar and Rustlepaw caught whiff of the coyotes in the territories. Rustlepaw came to gather a patrol of Kinkfire, Shortcloud, Stormcloud, and Lynxdapple to back up Cedar while Cedar follows the scent. Also, Whorlpaw and Honeypaw are going to spy on a training session between Ashrock and Longkit and Lightkit just snuck out of camp.
Anywhere you want to jump in?)

Falcontalon padded out of the elder's den with a yawn. The warmer weather had loosened up his shoulder significantly and given him a longing to get out of camp and do something more productive than sitting around the camp all day.
Starrylight and Mouseclaw were hauling branches from the side of the camp towards the nursery, patching a bare spot that had opened up.
Cherrystorm herded her kits out of the nursery to play, settling down near the entrance.
Hailkit and Mistkit tumbled out of the nursery behind their mother.
Pearlkit trailed behind the slightly younger kits, eager to having someone to play with.
Duskpaw scanned the camp for Cliffheart, hoping her mentor was around to take her out for some training.

(Hey Ice! Hey Willow!)
Cliffheart padded out of the warriors den. He shook out his pelt and shot a mild glare back inside the den at Ratmask who forced Cliffheart to leave his nest by lacing it with spicy thyme to make Cliffheart's itch. Now the whole nest had to get thrown away and Cliffheart needed to make another one. Not that he had the motivation too.

Duskpaw appeared in front of Cliffheart, barely giving the warrior time to register she was there before she began bouncing around him. "Cliffheart! Can we go out and train today? You can even pick what we do!" she mewed with a grin. "Hunting, fighting, sneaking, defense..." she rambled, "doesn't matter to me!"

Cliffheart started and stepped back when his apprentice was suddenly in front of her. Train? Oh...right...he was her mentor, wasn't he? Cliffheart tilted his ears back and sighed. He really wasn't up for it. What was the point for him to do anything? His outcome wouldn't change. But he supposed it would be for her benefit, at least. She was still in StarClan's favor and he owed it to Cedarstar to train his daughter right like he had trained Cedarstar. "We'll work on stealth," he stated simply. Cliffheart stepped off to lead the way to the camp entrance, his tail hung low.

Duskpaw's face fell as she took in her mentor's sullen state. "Oh okay!" she replied with a forced smile, her shorter legs working quickly to keep up with the large tom. "I'm excited to train again Cliffheart. It's been a while since we've been able to go out just the two of us."

"With how the camp needed repairs after the fire, we've all been busy." Cliffheart flicked his ear as he slipped through the camp entrance. The scars from the fire were healing with the new growth, but he still saw how deep they ran. He felt a bit guilty for not taking Duskpaw out sooner. It wasn't fair to her, but he couldn't get himself to go anywhere near the apprentice den these days. Not after Owlshadow...
Cliffheart shook his head to clear his thoughts. He needed to focus on his task, not his grief. "Alright," Cliffheart stopped just a few feet from the camp entrance. "I want you to wait here until you hear a frog croak three times. Then, you need to track me and sneak up on me. Think you can do that?"

Duskpaw nodded, shaking off the apprehension she sat down to wait, watching as her mentor slunk off into the brush. Duskpaw's ears flicked as she listened hard for any nearby frogs. She hated waiting and the sooner she was able to take off after Cliffheart, the sooner she could find him.

Cliffheart bounded silently through the territory. He wanted to make it challenging for his apprentice, so he jumped from one fallen log to another, slunk under a brush and rubbed up against a charred tree trunk. He strolled near the WindClan thunderpath so his scent would mix with its stench then veered back toward the Burnt Sycamore.

Duskpaw was up on her feet the second she heard the start of the third croak. She took a deep breath, closing her eyes and taking the scents around her in. Even though she had seen which way Cliffheart had gone, she couldn't trust her eyes as well as she could trust the scent trail. Letting out a satisfied hum, she trotted off after the scent of her mentor, hoping she wouldn't have any trouble staying on his trail.

Cliffheart laid on the low hanging branch of a pine tree near the Burnt Sycamore. He cleaned his long legs, trying to get some of the spicy thyme off his skin, but it was burning his tongue. Stupid, fox-heart Ratmask, he grumbled quietly to himself.

Duskpaw frowned as she reached a fallen log, her mentor’s scent seemed to fade here. Carefully circling the log she brightened as she scrambled onto another nearby log, he was certainly here! Feeling more confident she trotted forward.
After traveling several foxlengths, Duskpaw sighed once more as the trail went cold. “Where is he?” She grumbled under her breath as she headed back to the fallen logs. “I suppose he went this way then.” She murmured, picking up her pace towards the thunderpath.
