I actually find it weird, too? I drink when I'm thirsty. I know some kid who carries around a literal gallon of water every day and forces himself to drink it, and like? That's just... very excessive.
I mean, I'm bad at staying hydrated, but it hasn't killed me yet.
(Disclaimer: I'm not actually discouraging hydration. Don't be me, kids.)

OOC: It's actually more of just a reminder to drink water because when you're busy and running all around the place, it's easy to forget to drink, thirsty or not.

All the reminders are annoying as heck but I personally think it's about the people that sit on theirs computer 24/7 and don't go get a drink even if they're thirsty. My brothers do that while playing games all the time and don't even get up to eat most the time.

I mean, you can become dehydrated without realizing it. I'm not saying you need to force yourself to drink a ton of water you don't want but it's easy to forget to drink when you're busy/not drinking enough when it's hot out/etc. of course this may just be me because I've fainted before because of being dehydrated

Idk that was the nurse's answer to everything when I was in school though, since we weren't allowed to take any Meds or painkillers or anything

maybe its a south USA thing bc its really hot down there?? its not incredibly hot where i am so drinking water all the time isn't as important

Idk that was the nurse's answer to everything when I was in school though, since we weren't allowed to take any Meds or painkillers or anything Our elementary school nurse used an ice pack for everything. Nosebleed? Ice pack. Ear infection? Ice pack. About to throw up? Ice pack. And they always thawed really quick so they were useless anyway

I drink water, like once a month, maybe. I drink whatever is in the fridge, soda or juice, flavored water. Me being dehydrated is a complete norm for my body that my body presents itself as hydrated. It's sad really but I'm used to it. I've never drank a lot of water as a kid either. By society standards I've never been hydrated
I live in the south and people don't really push us to be hydrated to where it's excessive. Like they'll tell us to drink and be hydrated but it's not to the point to where it's annoying or obsessive.

I'm just complaining, lmao. I actually do forget to drink sometimes. I just feel weirdly talked down to when I see those posts? Like, you're not my mom. And, I mean, they're probably right, but listen, only I can call myself out for dehydration.
(This is like, a lighthearted thing, if you're bad at picking that up online? uwu culture can be a little annoying, but there's nothing inherently wrong about needing little reminders, and there's nothing bad about wanting to look out for others.)

tbh there are some words I hate hearing bc im so used to people on tumblr constantly using them and "hydrated" is one of them. whenever I see that word I cringe

it's one of those cutesie ~uwu self care o3o help ur mental illness ~~~~ things on tumblr that i cannot stand. just because i'm mentally ill does not mean that i want to be spoken to like i'm four years old. i'm 18 and want to die; you can talk to me like i'm an adult..... anyway imo it trivialises my crippling mental illness... like, dehydration is not on my growing list of issues.

Your body uses water more often than you think. Sometimes people also prefer unhealthy drinks over healthy water (EX: cokes, coffee, etc.) which only adds extra calories. But water can actually help burn off fat from what I've heard, plus it's just more healthier as it cleans your body.

I think you need at least a gallon of water a day. I don't drink that much but I normally try to drink at least half a gallon.

ive been trying to say this that the 8 glasses of water a day thing is totally bogus. you drink water if you need to drink water?? excess hydration is also not good for you.

younger kids need this warning a lot bc they suck at taking breaks when they're playing.
but they aren't usually aimed @ younger kids, so the problem is that just bc you're thirsty doesn't mean you'll drink water. if you drink pop (or anything else) all day bc you're thirsty (and people do), it'll make you even more thirsty, which a lot of people don't realize. you need to drink water. it's literally the only thing that will hydrate you.
also the gallon thing is something a lot of athletes do, which is fine. the more you work, the more you sweat, the more water you need.
& people don't always know when they're dehydrated either.
