Shafer had long since removed himself from the main part of the group and sort of tucked off near the forest as he glanced around and listened to himself think. He had full on conversations with himself a lot of the time and it was never about anything important. No angel or devil listing off the pros and cons about his next big decision, those were always answered impulsively. The things he discussed with himself had more to do with whether pad thai made his waist squisher in a good way or a bad way. Oh gosh, look at those plants. He was pretty bad with plants but this could be a learning experience. He immediately got to his feet and toddled over to the girl who apparently owned them. It took a solid thirty seconds of awkward trek through sand and he hated it, making that very clear by the theatrical sigh that puffed past his lips as he collapsed into a sitting position beside her. "Watcha got there?"

Oakley jumped slightly, startled, as the boy sat down beside her. She glanced over, having been focused too much on the plants (trying to determine what was what and what went where and how to use this...) that she didn't hear him at first, before giving him a smile and turning back to the herbs. "Oh...well, I gathered up some herbs I found in the forest. That way, we can...I don't know, heal people with them?" She shrugged, counting out some of the seeds she'd found, "Or maybe some could eat these to fill them up momentarily. I remember studying herbs a bit, so I know some of these and what they can be used for." She looked back over at him, "I'm Oakley, by the way."

Shafer definitely hadn't met this girl before, which made him a bit happy. He loved new people. Giving a grand clear of his throat and a sharp twist of his body to face her entirely, he lifted his chin and gave, what he thought to be, a heart-wrenching smile. "I'm Shafer Haywood York. A Cancer. The astrological sign, not the disease, though some would disagree with me. You?"

Everything seemed under control for the most part. Everyone was busy with something, except Belle. She felt useless among all of this, with her leg in the condition that it was. She just wanted it healed, so she can contribute. Someone who could be the leader can't be hurt, they need someone to look up to, to depend on. Belle knew she wasn't the type to lean on others. She would go insane first. Belle noticed Oakley sorting through something as she hobbled around on her crutch. "Hey Oakley." She greeted when she got close to enough. Belle noticed someone sitting by her. She knew he was one of the people that arrived with Ari but she forgot his name. Belle turned to him, "What was your name again? Maybe it's the blood loss, I'm forgetting people's names."

Oakley couldn't help but laugh at his declaration. "Haha, I'm...I'm a Scorpio, I believe." She shrugged, "I've never really thought much about it, besides reading it in magazines and such. Anyway," She stuck out her hand, which still had a small bit of seeds left on it, "Nice to meet you, Shafer." She smiled at him in greeting, happy to have made a new friend. She heard Belle come up beside her and raised her eyes up to rest on the other girl, "Oh, hey Belle." She nodded towards the herbs, "I picked up some herbs from the forest. We may be able to use them for...something."

"Nice to meet you, too, Scorpio Oakley. I don't usually get along with Scorpios but I've only met dude Scorpios, dude Scorpios are the worst." Shafer shook her hand happily and couldn't help but feel warm and fuzzy inside at the pleasantness of her tone. She sounded like someone who would understand why it's not okay to wear a native headdress and that made him happy. He glanced up at Belle and tilted his head to the side. "You know my name, country girl, you've been thinking about ways to destroy me ever since you met me." He all but chirped the words.

Oakley gave a short laugh, "Oh, I'm sure they are the worst," She noticed the little tension between Shafer and Belle, but shrugged it off. It was normal to feel some sort of tension, especially when they were stuck on a deserted island, together and alone with one another. They had to find their own food, shelter; they had to make sure they could survive. Getting along was also a challenge.

Belle raised an eyebrow in genuine confusion. "Destroy you? What reason do I have for that?" Did he assum this was some sort of race thing? Cowboys and Indians? It was stupid to think that was a possibility but it could be. Or maybe because she had a gun. That doesn't mean she would commit homicide. Belle wasn't a loose cannon for the most part. She pulled out her gun quicker at first because this was all new to her. She didn't know friend or foe, and still did not, but now, at least Belle can have tabs on more people.

Shafer arched an eyebrow and gave a low whistle as he looked the girl over slowly. "Wow. Alright. Worse than I thought, I get it, switching tactics..." He closed his eyes, lifted a hand theatrically and brought it down slowly as he exhaled. And then he turned his attention back to Oakley. "Hey, so, imagine you're walking along a dirt road, middle of nowhere, and it's just all around a bad time. Kind of like here. But all of the sudden, you see this gorgeous field of strawberries. Huge and filled with the most vibrant berries you've ever seen. But there's a fence surrounding it. How tall's the fence?"

"Why does there have to be a fence around it?" Oakley asked, head tilted to the side as she gazed back up from her work on the herbs into Shafer's eyes, "I mean, I guess if there was one, I would see...like, a picket fence. That way you can still jump over it easily to get to the strawberries." She hummed, "But...that's if it needs a fence." She turned back to her herbs once again, pulling seeds off another strand of plant.

"A picket fence," Shafer repeated, voice filled to the brim with delight and amusement. He tilted his head back and folded his arms across his chest in an attempt to contain himself. "That's awesome, that's what I said, too. And yes, it needs a fence. That's really interesting, Oakley." He had no plans of telling her what that answer meant. "What about you, Belle, how tall's the fence?"

Belle felt her jaw clench when he said 'changing tactics'. He made it sound like she was out to kill everyone of these people. Belle's mind was far from those thoughts. She wanted to make sure everyone survived. Belle's face was expressionless when he asked the question. She didn't really look at him either. Belle was focused on her boots and the sand below her. "51 inch barbed wire. So someone stupid enough to try and steal your stuff wouldn't be able to get to it. That's the way I see it anyway." Her family's land was protected by barbed wire, so maybe it was home she missed. OOC Text goes here. Text goes here. Credit to @battlingfear for the code.

Shafer tilted his head to the side and grinned. Fitting enough. He'd accept it. He glanced back over to Oakley as he brought all of his hair over one shoulder and played with the ends of the strands. They were going to feel like straw in a week so he might as well enjoy them while he still could. "What's your astrological sign, Belle?"

Belle looked up from the ground and out to the ocean. The sun would set in couple hours. An adequate shelter would be necessary. "Taurus. My birthday falls on May 1st." She put it simply. Although, birthdays didn't matter anymore, not if they were stuck on this stupid pile of sand forever. Her eyes showed her concentration, and her jaw was clenched like when she usually thought. For a while, Chul remained to the side and kept to his new found friend. Alessandra often kept to herself, and neither had the guts to ever actually wash off the dried blood that had accustomed to them. Of course, Chul would often talk to her about his group and all of the funny things they had done- and it would often brighten his mood. But it would always bring it down in a crashing land slide... one worse than before. So much so, that he fell depressed and anything that would end him soon sounded welcoming.
During their small stay there, it seemed innocent actually. In fact, Alessandra had trusted herself and him enough to trail past the group that was nearby and gather some items to make a shelter to help Chul take his mind off of the world. However, when she returned that's not what she expected. It was such a shock, that she dropped the twigs and palm leaves and rushed to his side. Poor Chul- she was beginning to like the youngster. He had so much potential...
Chul could remember sand being sent through the air as he laid there on his back. His eyelids fluttered, and his already pale skin now turner paler by the moment. It turned his purple hair the most out standing thing next to the crimson liquid that stained everything else. He felt warm and salty tear drops pitter pattering across his cheeks and chin, his lips parted in the slightest as he struggled to breathe. "Chul... Please don't go!" he heard Alessandra say in a pleading tone. There was nothing she could do- they all both knew this.
I wouldn't have given up so easily... But my group doesn't need me anymore... My parents were right... I was always a failure- never cut out for anything so big.. His eyes slowly shifted to Alessandra, looking at her upset facial features as he slowly smiled. His mouth twitched, as if he wanted to say something but he didn't. He couldn't. But yet, somewhere within he found the strength to say something, "If you make it Alessandra... Tell my group that they rid their Maknae okay?"
With that, he gave a soft sigh of air, like he was finally relaxing. His eyes fluttered close, and he relaxed into her arms as she cradled him close. She closed her eyes, holding him as close as she could before she opted to gently pet his purple locks. Chul had so much potential... He didn't need to go.. But the world was cruel, wasn't it? So why cant it be kind for once and give someone like him a happy ending? Slowly, she gently gripped his sweatshirt and she placed his cap on her head and slowly adorned herself with his sweatshirt instead. A remembrance.
Chul was in a better place, wasn't he?

-- Mycle -- Shafer, Belle, and Oakley
Mycle watched Larry shamble off worryingly, wanting to offer support somehow - but that would be a struggle, seeing as he needed a walking stick himself. He sighed, digging the literal stick he found into the ground to begin walking towards the small group that's formed over a pile of herbs. That looked like something he could help with. He hoped. As he grew closer he slowed, the frustrating uncertainty and fear that he'd be bothering them holding his tongue. He sort of hovered awkwardly near them, looking down at the plants. At least he knew a couple of them - well, actually, that made it worse. Why? As if anxiety cares. But interacting with people he's met already always scare him more than strangers. The hand that wasn't clutching the stick entangled itself with the bottom of his shirt. "H -hi," was all breath, as if hesitantly stepping forward on ice. Then thoughts began skirting through his mind, rapid as if racing a one-hundred yard dash: Oh, geez, they're going to look up, maybe recognize him and go oh hey, it's that idiot shy kid - oh, please, let him be forgettable, let there be one word and he could just sit down or just walk away... maybe it'll hurt more if he blended into the background as their conversation carried on as if he wasn't there, but it was better that way, so he'll hope for it, not for the more dangerous territory of human interaction - but doesn't practice make perfect? Oh, if only inevitable failure wasn't so humiliating. He sort of stood there with those thoughts prancing through his brain. "Ca - can I help?"
((ah, reminds me of the hovering outside a door for ten minutes straight just gathering the courage to go in. fun times.))
-- Ari -- Mikel
Meanwhile, Ari was Very Much Concerned about Mikel, not missing the way he favored his bad foot. "Dude," he said in a more quiet voice than usual, leaning towards him. "Sit down, I'm wincing just watching you."
-- Riandylan -- Alessandra
Riandylan slowed when they approached Alessandra, who seemed quite sad. Why are they sad? Sadness sinks the heart, lies heavy on the shoulders - nobody should be sad. They tilt their head - someone's already fallen asleep? But it's still light out - how can anyone fall asleep with the sun beating on their eyes? They tap Alessandra's shoulder - after all, the best way to satisfy curiosity is to ask, right? They sign, "What's wrong?"

its okay! life is more important hun!
ik but in order to stop me from crying like a baby irl I had to say bye to chul- even though I'm already super attached to him
--
Alessandra looked up through her tears, not daring to show Chul for the sake of his pride. Her eyes were bright red and puffy, tears streaking their stains down her cheeks as she looked at them. Her lips quivered then, looking down at Chul. "Egli è morto," she answered back in her native tongue, voice cracking as she struggled to breathe then. Taking in a soft breath, she raised a palm and smeared away several tears before looking at Riandylan. "He's dead," she corrected herself, her other hand gently holding his head to the crook of her neck then

"Dead?" Riandylan said out loud. They stood stock still. Dead. Dead? Dead. The word raced around in their mind. It was a struggle to speak again. "Are - are you sure? There's a doctor," they said, their words clumsy on their tongue. They checked themselves for something for Alessandra to dry the sorrowful tears, and could only pull off their scarf and offer it.

Oakley looked up from her work on the herbs, trying to categorize each one, when she heard another voice behind her. She glanced over to see the nervous boy standing there, feeling so...out of place. She didn't want him to feel that way. After all, she didn't mind any help at all. Actually, that would be perfect. "Oh, hi there." She smiled up at him. "I'm Oakley. Wanna help me with these herbs?" She nudged towards the pile of plant stems in one pile and seeds in another. "I'm just categorizing each ones...like, trying to figure out what they could be used for and stuff."
(tbh i don't even know the herbs she's got right now xD )
Mikel huffed, leaning off of his bad foot and onto his good foot, trying to steady himself, "I'm fine, really." He said, more of a breathy tone than a normal one. Sweat was prickling on his neck and back, and not the hot sweat. The cold, chill inducing sweat that lingered on and irritated, that made your skin rise and bring shivers to your spine. He coughed into his hand, not wanting to show any signs of fatigue or weakness. "I'm really fine, just...tired." Though, to be honest, obeying Ari and sitting down on the pile of sand wasn't too bad of an idea. He looked down at the ground and started to move towards it, readjusting his legs and falling back on his butt into the sand. He sighed, finally at peace as his leg no longer felt the pressure. "I'm gonna take that offer on sitting, though."

((sorry for poofing >.< *slams desk* this is where my Warrior knowledge comes in mwahaha - of course i have no idea if the herbs the cats use work the same way on humans but - yarrow, poppy seeds, thyme, willow bark, comfrey, borage leaves, dock, chervil, horsetail, lavender, marigold, tansy, watermint meh, i'll do a little more research tomorrow))
-- Mycle -- Belle and Oakley
Mycle smiled a little, relieved at the welcome, and nodded to Belle as he slowly sat down next to Oakley. He looked over at the herbs; most of them seemed pretty distinct from one another. He set aside his stick and tentatively reached out towards the pile, fingers carefully plucking out leaves and stems as if unsure if they could perform the task well. He looked over at Oakley. "Do - do you know which herbs can be used for what?" he said, curious.
-- Ari -- Mikel
Ari was not convinced at all, so he was glad Mikel sat down - he probably would have guided the stubborn guy down to a sitting position himself if not. "Geez. Here, maybe - I don't know, you can hand me and this other guy stuff as we throw together an SOS."

(i'm not really sure, either. I'm gonna look up some herbs that can be used on humans like they can be in the series xD just to see what can be used for what )
Oakley moved over some so that Mycle could easily slide in beside her to work on the herbs. "I'm not really sure...I'm trying to think back on what my father and I studied. It's been a while, but I'm sure once I think more about each herb and look at them carefully, I can figure it out." She smile, "Thanks for the help, by the way. What's your name, if you don't mind me asking?"
Mikel pouted, sticking his tongue out at Ari as he moved his pack to the side and started to remove some rocks and twigs from it. He was honesty feeling better--his leg had stopped cramping up from the continued walking and his arm had stopped tensing up. He felt a bit light headed from the blood loss, but he assumed the bleeding had stopped because his head wasn't hurting as badly and he could think more properly than before. He pulled out some of the seashells he had gotten from the shore and sat them out for Ari and the others. He really wanted to help, but if this was all could do for the moment, well, so be it.

She nodded, hiccupping softly as she said a soft thank you and gently patted her cheeks before handing it back to them. Her eyes turned down to Chul, fingers brushing gently over his soft skin and tilting her head. "Even if we could he wouldn't survive long... He lost too much blood," she told them as she looked back up.

Shafer perked up significantly when he spotted Mycle, eyes brightening as he showed off his teeth in a large grin. "Mycle!" He chirped and got to his knees to greet the other boy properly. He shuffled closer when he sat down and placed himself directly beside him, maybe a little too close to be considered normal. He was about to hug him or something but then he started picking up leaves and he didn't want to make him rip anything up so he just rested his temple on the boy's shoulder and smiled stupidly. "His name is Mycle and he's one of my favourites." Shafer immediately answered Oakley's for him. ρυмρкιηqυєєη13 willowflower

( xD can i just say i love Shafer? haha ) Oakley placed a hand over her mouth to hide her laughter. Of course, it was still able to be heard. She stopped when she noticed how open she was being to these strangers. Normally, she wouldn't even consider opening up so freely to those she didn't really know. But, hey. They were going to be here for a while, it seemed. Might as well get to know those around her. It...may come in handy. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Mycle." She chuckled, lifting up what appeared to be yarrow flowers, determining the effects it could have. Let's see...if I remember correctly, yarrow can be used for wounds. The petals of the flowers may also be used for...allergies, I think.(i found a link for herbs that can be used as medicine: www.nlm.nih.gov/about/herbgarden/list.html )

((nice! also i just finished an essay and home for the four day weekend so im pumped whoo - also that's why i wasn't on all day ^.^'' ah, shafer, i missed you))
-- Mycle -- Shafer and Oakley
Mycle looked up at Shafer's cheery greeting, a little surprised at the enthusiasm. Well, bewildered, more like. Was I really that memorable? he wondered, tucking some leaves into a neat pile as Shafer sat close to him. Really close. He was about to answer Oakley, reassuring her that he didn't mind at all, but then Shafer leaned against his shoulder and called him a favorite and all coherent words fell out of possibility. He sort of squeaked and flailed one arm in an attempt to bring words out of his mouth, while at the same time trying to keep one half of his body still so that Shafer's head wouldn't leave his shoulder. Something that sounds like a "What?" may have jumped out of there, but really just a lot of gaping and shaking his head as if trying to diffuse the compliment before turning his head to the side and hiding his flushing face. His cheeks were really, really warm, and he was glad he could blame it on his sunburn. No way, his brain was protesting, while the emotional half was jumping around in a happy daze. You are reading way too much into this, you stupid romantic-loving dork. It took him a while to actually say something. "Y-yeah, that," he half-whispered. "Nice to meet you too..."
-- Riandylan -- Alessandra (+ all)
Riandylan's cheeks puffed up, and they viciously shook their head. "No, no, no, we can't think that way," they said, fear leaking into the determination in their voice. Their hands twisted in their scarf and they looked around towards the others. "I'll go get someone," they promised, hurrying off in a burst of speed. "Hey!" They forced air through their vocal cords as hard as they could. Their eyes darted around - the doctor shambling off in a direction - the group surrounded a pile of plants - anybody, surely somebody -
-- Ari -- Mikel, Tobias, and Gabriel
Ari was caught off guard when Mikel stuck his tongue out, and instinctively stuck out his own like the child he was, almost pleasantly surprised to find someone who didn't see themselves beneath the gesture. He plucked up a rock and a seashell and looked over at Tobias and Gabriel. "I think the doctor's coming, by the way," he said. "And if you wanna help just jump in." He then proceeded to sketch out a rough "S" into the sand by dragging his foot to get a good idea of where to put the stuff, growling in frustration at the sand creeping into his shoe but not wanting to put in the effort to pause and pull off his socks and shoes. He did stop to pull off his jacket at least, and tied the thing around his waist. Ari placed the rock at one end of the shape and the seashell at the other. The sun was relentless; he pulled the hair falling into his face back to tie it in a messy half-ponytail. "It's so hot," he whined as he walked back over to Mikel to pick up some twigs. "Why can't the sun have settings like a heater?"

My son deserves all the love and he's getting it.))
Shafer smiled at Oakley as he gave the other boy'a shoulder a nuzzle that seemed to sit on the border of affectionate and loving. "It is nice to meet him," he agreed, voice comical in its monotonous tone. He did sense Mycle's discomfort, he wasn't completely numb to others' body language, he just chose to ignore it. He lifted the hand that had been resting just behind Mycle and skimmed his fingertips along his shoulder blades in an attempt to calm him down. "Know much about herbs, Mycle?" He tilted his head up so he could look up at the other boy. He maintained contact by resting his chin on his shoulder.

-- Mycle -- Shafer and Oakley and Belle
Mycle felt like he was on the verge of spontaneous combustion. It wasn't like he was a stranger to affection - receiving such from someone who's not one of his guardians is another thing altogether. Especially when it's a really cute someone. Meanwhile, he utterly failed to form distinguishable words in response to Shafer's question. The honest answer was no, not really, just hints and pieces he might gather from a novel that mentions herbs, but somehow that truth felt almost shameful, as if he should've known more. The feeling didn't make much sense, how would he know he was going to be stranded on an island after all, but it's what kept him from actually speaking. Rather, he found himself stammering and gesturing nonsensically with a hand before shaking his head sadly. A shout caught his attention though (he was almost relieved at the distraction), and Belle's movement as she hurried off. Mycle looked up, bewildered, catching sight of Riandylan running with Belle. "What's going on?"
-- Riandylan -- Belle and Alessandra
Riandylan waved their arms to Belle and turned to hurry back to where Alessandra and Chul waited, looking over their shoulder once and a while to check that Belle was following. "I'm not sure?" they said as they reached the two. "T-they - I don't know..." They were jumpy, anxious energy crawling through their body. "I brought someone," they said to Alessandra before spinning back to Belle with wide, pleading eyes. "Can we help them?"
