Madisen jumped down from the branch she was on. She landed on her feet like the half feline she is and stood a few feet away from him. "That is actually quite creative for using trees. I'm not even sure what the person meant when he told me I looked like a 'Madisen'. Whatever that means..." she shrugged, staring at the ground and then Aspen. She noticed him ruffle his hair, it was kind of cute in a way. Were all canine hybrids similar? Slightly goofy and adorable? She hoped so, that would mean she knows they were most likely someone to talk to. He only reason she had the friends she did now, was because she worked with them. And Madisen was in a way, forced to bond. She did not mind the friends she did now and would not mind making more, but whenever they invited her to parties she immediately declined.

Madisen blushed again when he complimented her name. She didn't get very many before him. She was never around enough people to get compliments. Plus, when someone new tried to talk to her, she usually made an excuse to get out of the conversation. She noticed his cheeks change color a bit too. Maybe he was not sure if he should have said that, or maybe he just mixed up his wording and didn't mean it in that way. "Um, thanks." She said like her usually awkward self. "But yeah, I guess a drink would be nice..." she trailed off. Madisen had completely forgotten about her friend's favor at this point. And even if she did remember, she would have called and said that there was traffic and it was making her walk home hard. With no cell service though, it was hard to tell her anything anyway. Madisen made sure her phone was secured in her back pocket of her jeggings, wondering how it had not fallen out after everything so far.

He nodded and turned on his heel. "The cottage is this way." He said starting off in the direction of the run down little cabin he called home. It was about a ten minute walk through the trees, made a little longer by his option to take a more winding route, it would make it harder for her to find the cottage again, just in case she wasn't who he thought he was. He did have a tendency to be a little naive, but he wasn't totally stupid. If she was a spy, or a hunter she would have a hard time following the winding trail with its unusual scents that could mask a hybrid. "Here we are. Its not much but its home." He said gesturing towards the stone cabin, the roof had been patched with bark and moss. The broken windows boarded up, those that still had glass was rickety and dirty. He loved it even if it was a mess, it was safe and it was home. He pushed open the door, the heavy wood had been painted bright scarlet, inside was surprisingly warm, with electricity from a diesel generator that chugged away in a far corner. The living space was cosy, with two soft armchairs and a sofa covered with a thick throw. "Please, make yourself at home." He said with a smile, moving in to the kitchen area. "What would you like to drink. I have all sorts of bottled drinks, hot drinks." He said moving around the small area almost dancing.

Madisen followed after Aspen down the winding route he was taking. It was very confusing. If this is the only route to his home then it must have been luck that he stumbled upon that house. Her first impression was that it didn't look like much, but she remembered that she had either been living in a high tech institution or an apartment her whole life. This was home to him, and she was sure that there were others that would have felt the same around the world. Madisen followed him inside, hesitantly at first, he was still new to her. Aspen may not be who she thought he was, but when she saw him get a bit excited in the kitchen area she couldn't help but smile. The house was...cozy. To say the least. Small would have been another term but cozy sounded better. She did not yet sit down, wanting to be able to bolt out the door if necessary. However, she stood by one of the arm chairs, placing her hand on one of the arm rests. "Do you have coffee? I was going to get some earlier but...things happened." She said to keep it short and to the point.

"Of course. I know its a little crowded in here, if you get claustrophobic the door is open." He said, his back now to her as he turned on the little gas stove and began to boil the water. "It's only instant I'm afraid. How do you take it?" He said, not looking around as he spoke, gathering two mismatched mugs. He hummed beneath his breath as he worked, the kettle on the stove began to whistle and he took it from the heat. Once the drinks were made he carried them over to the living area, placing them on the coffee table, marked by years of use. He pushed hers across the table to her and sat in the other armchair. "It must be very different to living in the city." He said looking around at the little things he had gathered whilst living here. Nicknacks to make it seem homely, books with battered spines lined shelves surprisingly clean. Despite the crowdedness the whole place was dust free, not even a cobweb in the rafters. He assumed what had happened earlier was the fight he had briefly witnessed so didn't press for more information.

Madisen smiled and gave a thank you when he gave her the coffee. It was slightly bitter but she liked bitter things like dark chocolate and coffee. So she did not mind. She noticed how neatly everything was placed, he was no slob, but the place in general just needed a bit of work to look cute and homey. She smiled at the knickknacks, noticing some items from the precious moments brand and other things that were hard to come by. Aspen could sell a couple of things and maybe get a few bucks off of it. "Yes, it's very different. It's cute though, although, I could never live without my style magazines and HGTV guidebooks." Madisen loved everything modern and new, it would be a pain if she had to leave it all behind her

Madisen took the spoon after Aspen used it to add sugar to her own cup. She nodded when he told her about his friends, he really did seem to miss them. She felt bad actually. He had gone through a lot to be free and be with his friends, only to be separated from them. She looked down at her coffee when he asked her about her job. "I do work. I work at a Hobby Lobby closer to the downtown area. It's a nice job. The workplace is very welcoming, good hours too, so I'm not up at 0100 working with school the next morning." Madisen used the 2400 time, since that was what they used at the institution. School was a pain though. Madisen was in her junior year, the worst one supposedly. All of the tests, homework, interviews, college searches, it never ended. Although, Madisen didn't think she would go to college. She didn't have enough money on getting her past her associates degree, and even then she would have to go to a community college.

Madisen chuckled and rolled her eyes, "You shouldn't be, it's nothing great." She told him. He should not be impressed, she was doing okay at school. Mostly Bs and a few Cs. That was because she had a late start when she first got in school. Even though the scientists did teach her a few things, it was just below what was considered passing in the average school. However, her teachers had been impressed with her progress and she could not be any more pleased. "But hiding is pretty hard, I usually opt for the alternate classes. It keeps people from discovering what I really am." She told him. Madisen assumed he didn't go to school, considering he lived out here, too far from any district. And with no Internet he obviously did not do online classes either.

Madisen was the type of person who always blew off compliments, even though she did appreciate it. She looked up for a second from her cup of coffee and to his eyes. Madisen noticed for the first time that they were a deep amber. They were very beautiful actually. She looked away shortly and then turned her view to the shelves, "I try to live as normal as I can. My characteristics are pretty easy to conceal, besides the ears, but I try to fix that the best way I can." She smiled and looked back at him, "I'm pretty sure my hair doesn't look so great now huh?" Madisen sort of asked and told him. It was kind of upsetting actually. She hates it when it gets humid outside and she had spent over an hour on her hair only to have it get messed up. At the moment it wasn't too much better due to the skirmish back towards town. Wherever the girl was she hoped she was okay, if she was part sparrow she could fly couldn't she?

He smiled softly and nodded. A normal life was what they all wanted, to get back what was taken from them. As much as they had grown through what had been done to them they were still children, they had been deprived the right to that childhood. Most teenagers would have loved the idea of never having to go to school, to never take tests, but he would have loved to sit a normal exam. She changed the subject on to her hair and he looked around at her once more, drawn from his reprieve. "I'm no fashion guru but I think your hair looks nice. Surely a tiger is allowed to have ruffled fur." He said with a grin and a soft laugh. It seemed strange to him, that she would have the time to worry about something like her hair. She had probably realised from his scruffy locks, that didn't look like they had seen a brush in weeks, that he cared little for his appearance. It worked for him however, with his rugged earthy look, simple jeans and a plain t-shirt. His tail jutted from a rip in the back of the jeans and was the same shade of copper red as his hair and ears. He was handsome in his own easy way.

Madisen ran her fingers through her dark brown, almost black, hair. She parted it to the right, and wanted to make sure it stayed that way. He was nice, she was sure of it. He didn't seem like the type that could pull off a really good lie, especially one as big as being on the doctor's side. To even think so seemed a little outrageous. She took a seat on the chair she was standing by, and sank into it slightly. Finding it almost difficult to squirm back up on top of it's surface. She laughed a little as she did so, trying with all of her might not to spill the coffee. "I'm vertically challenged if you can't already tell." She smiled. Madisen liked to use the term 'vertically challenged' because it was one of those terms thay made you sound slightly smart and funny at the same time. Hopefully she had enough of them so Aspen would not see her as boring. Most people did, as she got shy and grew quiet almost immediately. "I don't think you have these kind of problems?" She asked the question she already knew the answer to. He was taller than her for sure. There was a quite a height difference but she though taller men were more handsome than the shorter ones.

(*sure*) Andrew watched in slight confusion as the attacker suddenly vanished into the woods and he instinctively did a quick 360 of the area, realizing they were alone, the other girl seeming to be gone as well. He ran a hand through his messy white-tipped scarlet hair before letting his gaze rest on the other fox hybrid. He hadn't ever spoken to another hybrid before and he's only ever caught glimpses of others. The majority of his time prior to his escape was just a painful blur of experiments and solitude. He felt the rush of adrenaline begin to fade, but his bear tear seemed to continue to roar in his ears, his body hot from tension and combat. "S-so, are you alright?" He asked, his eyes not meeting hers. He finally felt the stupidity of his actions from earlier catch up to him, the instincts to be with more fox-hybrids had kicked in and he hadn't let reason and logic come in - but that was just him, stupid, blunt and loyal to his instincts.

The auburn haired girl looked back at him, her dark green eyes flashing for a moment with a strange emotion. "Of course I'm okay! Why wouldn't I be?" She snapped back, before hesitating and sighing, shaking her head. This was her first time with other hybrids, and really her first time talking to others besides the workers at that cafe. She had kept to herself, only speaking if spoken to, and even sometimes she'd feign deafness to get away with not talking. She studied the boy for a moment, eyes darkening, wondering how long he'd been out here. For her, it was a measly two weeks, and everything was so... Overwhelming. He seemed just as awkward as she, so he must have escaped not long before or after her. "Sorry for snapping" She added half-heartedly, keeping a good few feet between the two, the girl clearly not trusting the boy yet. She didn't want to be picked up again.

Andrew tensed when she snapped at him, though he knew he probably deserved it. When she'd finally broken the short period of tense silence between them with the apology, he let himself relax a little more, though he was still alert in case any scientists or bad hybrids popped out at them. "It's fine, I deserved it. I was running on instinct earlier, sorry." He muttered the second part a little more silently in an almost ashamed manner; though, when he remembered it, he thought he could almost smell the scent of her hair, the warmness of her body lingering in his hands. He shook the thought away almost immediately.

She sighed, "It's fine. Really. You just got to remember others don't... Understand instinct, okay?" She said after a few moments, thinking back about how the first thing she did when she got out was to growl at someones dog, and actually snap at it. "I wonder where the others went." She murmured softly, twitching her fox ears, wincing at the bright sunlight when it got in her eyes. Part of her still wanted to be asleep, the nocturnal animal fighting with her sparrow genes. She shook her head, rubbing her eyes. She glanced back at the boy, finally taking him in. He didn't see much older than she, they must have been tested around the same time. Perhaps thats why his scent seemed so familiar to her. It was clear he was a hybrid from his hair, but since humans had the tendency to die their strands, it wouldn't be hard for him to fit in.
