The Clans could have formed from different groups and developed different ranking systems and traditions due to events that could have happened in their history? o3o If people want to do different ranks, that is.

Hello everyone! Sorry for my brief absence. I've been doing some thinking, and I believe I've figured things out with the help of Rain.

Rushingwolf Rush, I'm sorry to say I don't think you're what we're looking for as a leader. However, you shall be a wonderful helper if you're okay with that! c:

lozi Batty (if I may call you that as a nickname!), I think you'd make a wonderful leader for the last Clan!

But before that, we must discuss a few things.

I'd like to be able to test both of you roleplay-wise before we begin our planning if I may. Both of your samples are fine, but I want to know if you can all hold a roleplay while meeting your partner's posts.


Also, last order of business...

I've had an idea for the setting and territories of these Clans since before this planning page was created. I would like to use this idea, if everyone is okay with it. I don't want any of this to seem like I'm forcing you, or I'm making you, if you have any objections please bring them up and talk to me about it and we can all figure something out. This idea was that the Clans could be in a sort of area based on the Rocky Mountains, but not exactly. There could be an area with little to no trees, with rocky, thin soil and moor-like hills. Then there could be a coniferous area filled with evergreen trees. And the last could be a deciduous area (perhaps with a marshy area, depends on what the leader wants). Now, the leaders who chose these Clans could tweak the territory and stuff about it all they wanted. Such as if someone chose the coniferous area, they could have as much undergrowth as they wanted, added streams, or the person who chose the deciduous area could make a meadow with a huge willow tree in the center that's in the middle of the forest. I don't mind at all, after all it would be that leader's Clan now. I should have posted this idea beforehand or on the layout itself, but I didn't think to, so I apologize for not giving you guys a heads-up.

What does everyone think about this territory idea? We could go with the sort of primal/tribal Clans with a sort of monarchy, based loosely on a wolf pack if everyone likes that idea, I think it would fit the area. We'd probably keep the normal naming system of course, just to make things easier.

Positions like that will be given to people the leader trusts owo' We won't worry about that yet, though.

Monarchy-wise, I was thinking each Clan could be led by a 'house' or family. The family would only be blood or mate relations, and only those in that family could be leaders. The eldest kit would become one of the leaders while their mate would become a leader alongside them. (We can decide if they'll both have nine lives later) Then their eldest kit would be trained to become the next leader. Rainleaf has more experience and knowledge about how this sort of thing would work, though >w<

Mostly normal ranks except for..

Augur - A cat chosen from birth by the previous Augur to interpret signs from their version of StarClan. They read almost everything, from the fluttering of a bird to the creaking of a branch in the wind to a small ripple in the water. They are not allowed to have a mate and kits, fight in any sort of battle, or be harmed. It is said if you harm an augur, you are forever cursed by StarClan (or whatever kind of ancestors we decide to have) and won’t be accepted by them when you die. They are the spiritual leader of the Clan, and what the true leader looks to for guidance. It’s said an augur can hear the very whispers of StarClan along with the signs they read, but they are not allowed to discuss in detail what they hear or see, unless with the leaders or the augur they are training or the augur training them. They are taught lives of peace and love, being accepting and understanding to each cat equally, and no bias towards anyone. They are not taught to hunt or fight, and it's frowned upon for them to even kill prey, although it's not forbidden.

Herbalists - Cats trained from apprenticeship to work with herbal remedies and healing techniques. They are allowed to have a mate and kits, and are trained in combat, but normally only basic moves unless they want more training to protect themselves. They aren’t sent into battle or on patrols like normal warriors, but they are taught the basics of hunting and fighting. There can be up to six at a time, counting apprentices.

I was thinking Augurs could be chosen like Stonetellers in the Tribe.. what do you guys think?

I imagined something like a mix of spiritual guides and gurus xDDD

if we went with a monarchy, we might have to change the deputy rank a little so they're just cats who organize the Clan and such, but don't succeed the leaders. Perhaps deputies are normally within the head family, as well? But it wouldn't be uncommon for a cat outside the family that the leaders trust to be appointed.

Actually, that's a wonderful idea, Rush! They could be addressed formally as 'Lord Blankname' or 'Lady Blankname', but what could be the official title... hm..

Alright, I'm here! Batty is an a-ok nickname for me! Thank you for letting me lead a clan. I'm really trying to be more active on the forums instead of constantly stalking threads. ^.^
Reading your territory gave me an idea. It's about Spring time, and the Clans live in sort of a wide, basin-like valley between two large mountains. They could communicate with their religious leaders (StarClan, Stoneteller, etc.) at the peak of the higher mountain, at a pool or some other interesting thing. (An exotic or meaningful tree growing in the center of a glowing pond. Each full moon it sheds its petals, that gleam like drops of silver in the full moon's light.) Anyways, when the snow melts (cuz global warming and stuff), it begins to fill up the valley, driving out (some of, depending on the leaders) the clans, forcing them to higher grounds. Etc, whatever you're feeling.

I like the idea, we could make that the moonplace perhaps. Maybe it could be a sort of tulip tree?
