Coppersky crouched next to Petalcreek, watching closely to mimic where she positioned herself to keep her shadow out of the water. The river was still high and the current fast from the recent flooding, it made him nervous despite his practice with swimming in the last few moons. "When the water is up more than usual like it is now, is there anything special to be concerned about? I'd be worried about a smaller cat accidentally being swept away in the current."

Fwends ( Moonblazer and Frozen ) "Ewarthstwar!" she purred in excitment, she had already learned this name before, "Uhh," she pondered, "Nwot hwungy" she repiled, "new fwends! hwappy!" she was still learning her way with words, and hadn't had much exposure to cats, so she knew very few. Earthstar twitched his whiskers in amusement, though the shadow of Smallkit's past put a damper on her innocent behavior. This kit should be with her mother and sibling, not a stranger in RiverClan's camp. "I am happy to hear that. You won't need to worry about anything while you're here, Smallkit." He looked at Orchidnight with confidence. "I'm assuming she's already welcome here in the nursery?"

"Do I smell what-" Iciclestep mewed, only to stop and stand still as he heard rather than scented something in the distance. He bristled slowly, eyes narrowing into slits as he mewed quietly and firmly. "Snowflower. I can hear it. It doesn't smell like the prey-mauler fur... it smells like..." He blinked in shock at the recognition of the scent that was rarely ever scented around here. "Twoleg!" He hissed softly, finally spotting the tall figure through the gaps in the marsh grasses and undergrowth. Too far from camp to be an immediate threat, he whispered. "Quick! We can hide, we need to see what it's doing out here!" Snowflower froze in fright, tail puffing. She looked in the direction he was watching, and finally found her footing to flee as the figure loomed overhead. She stepped quickly, but as quietly as she could, keeping low to the ground all the while. She glanced over her shoulder to make sure Iciclestep was moving too, and not trying anything brave. Whatever the twoleg was up to, it couldn’t be anything good. Finally, she slunk into a patch of marsh grass lined with some undergrowth, and whispered, eyes wide, “Twolegs are so much bigger than I thought they would be.” Snowflower scented the air. Thankfully there was no scent of dog accompanying it. Still, the two of them didn’t exactly blend in to their surroundings, with his all-white coat, and grey and white in hers.

There seemed to be a gleaming stone in the center, that flashed in the dappled light of the trees and marsh grasses. The Twoleg seemed to be searching about, kneeling down to aim its black stone at a plant or at the ground. An odd clicking sound came from the stone, and Iciclestep wondered quietly. "What in Starclan is it doing?"

(Sorry people, studying for my exams...)
Moonriver blinked happily, and slid into the nursery. "One, two... three!" Moonriver squealed silently in excitement. "Awh, they are such beautiful kits!" She sighed, signaling Birchtail to come closer.

She saw the twoleg shift position, angling the rectangular thing differently a couple times before leaning back and staring at the rectangular stone for a few moments. It tucked the object into one of its many pouches and stepped a short distance away with heavy, plodding steps. “Can you see what it was… investigating?” She asked, for lack of a better word. Craning her head, she couldn’t make it out from here.

Birchtail looked at all the kits happily, smiling as Streamkit twitched in her dreams. She purred, “Our newest clanmates are all so cute. Maybe when we’re out, we could find a nice moss ball for them to play with.”

To his relief though, the twoleg was moving towards the far border, out into no-cat's land behind the vast Riverclan border. If he continued onwards, he would eventually cross out of the territory. Not towards camp. Even so, Iciclestep refused to just leave the twoleg to his own advances. He had to know more of what he wanted, before they could report it back to Earthstar. He nodded once to Snowflower. "We can keep our distance and watch him for a while longer, see what he's so interested in." He growled lightly. "He better not be hunting..."

"Maybe. Do you think StarClan will accept him if he doesn't take one?" Brightrock mewed, finishing his part of the fish and sitting up as well. "It wouldn't be the first time a loner came to the clans and chose not to take on a full warrior name, but I've never heard of a medicine cat do it before." Duskhawk looked up from his grooming, his eyes meeting Swanflight's briefly when he noticed her watching him. Feeling his fur heat up, he quickly turned his head back to get the area between his shoulders, trying to keep the neutral look on his face as he washed his fur. "They're a real pain in the tail, that's for sure." Blackmask huffed, managing to catch the last one before it could jump back into the water. He sat up and looked at the minnows with a satisfied flick of his ear, looking back at Bubblebrook, "I think the kits in the nursery might enjoy these as much as the apprentices. They're small enough to feed them well." "I'll try my best." Petalcreek said with a small smile, coming to a stop once they reached the river. "Birchtail is right about keeping your shadow away from the water, so you'll want to keep an eye on the sun's position when you choose a spot to fish at." She settled herself down at the shore and stared down into the water, motioning for Coppersky to join her. "It's a bit of a waiting game, and different from hunting land prey. You have to let the fish come to you basically." "My mother said that Riverclan had a leader who clearly was accepted by Starclan enough to receive nine lives, even if she never changed her name. Apparently, Rain had been a better leader than even some Clanborne ones in the past. I guess that means that Alder's surely got to have a shot, even if he keeps his loner name." Swanflight offered thoughtfully, recalling the stories her mother told her. Diamondheart had been given his own clan name by Rain a long time ago, before Adderstar tore everything apart. Swanlight caught Duskhawk's eyes for a second, a humored look crossing her face as she smiled lightly at him, winking with humor to tease him. "That's a good idea. We can split it in half, some for Minnowtail's kits, and some for the apprentices." Bubblebrook decided, before she began to slowly and lazily float in the water. She looked like a cloud, or a floating clump of snow as she purred. "It's still cold, but it's not as bad as I thought. Maybe, if we're lucky, we'll have a warm newleaf and all the flowers will grow back." She hummed. "Doesn't that sound pretty?" "Well, let's just hope everything works out then. If they accepted a leader who chose not to take on the 'star' name, then I'm sure they'll accept a Medicine Cat who doesn't want a full name." Brightrock said with a shrug, standing up and giving a small stretch. "Well, now that we've finished our fish, I think I'm going to go get some rest before the next patrol I'm sent on. What about you two, planning on doing anything else?" He asked with a yawn, looking first at his brother then at Swanflight. Duskhawk looked up from his grooming to give a small shrug to Brightrock's question, "Don't know. I'm sure I'll find something to do to keep me busy." He said, not tired enough to take some rest now that he had eaten something. Blackmask gave a flick of his ear and shrugged, "Um, yeah, I suppose it does." He said, watching Bubblebrook as she floated in the water. "At least the majority of our territory managed to escape the worst of the fire, it doesn't have to completely regrow like ThunderClan's or ShadowClan's."

"You'll want to make sure that you aren't too close to the edge, and make sure that you aren't unbalanced when you go to try and catch a fish." Petalcreek said, eyes watching the river closely as she spoke. It was a bit more difficult to spot fish moving around in the water while it was moving as fast as it was. "Keep in mind that the majority of RiverClan's warriors have been swimming since kithood, but even the most experienced swimmer would have trouble in waters like this and any without experience wouldn't even stand a chance."

"Got it." Coppersky mewed quietly, he nodded to Petalcreek. "Would you mind if I watched you fish for a moment? I promise I'll try as well, I've just been trying to study different cat's methods to try and improve my own. Each cat seems to have their own unique way of fishing even though the basics are the same."

Petalcreek nodded and gave Coppersky a small smile, "Of course, I don't mind at all." She said, turning her gaze back to the water and watching it intently. It took some time, but eventually Petalcreek's paw flashed into the river and scooped a decent sized fish out and tossed it onto the bank. She quickly pounced on the fish before it could manage to jump back into the water and sank her teeth into it, dragging it further away from the river. Once she was sure that it was dead, she dropped it on the ground and sat back down in her spot again to watch for another fish. "It will take time before you figure out your own style of fishing, but once you do, you'll be catching enough fish to feed the whole Clan."

She looked at Duskhawk curiously. “If you don’t mind the company, that is.” She offered a faintly humored smirk, a part of her wanting to know him better. “We have Ottermask’s patrol to thank for that. They were heroes, and I’ll never forget what they sacrificed to stop the fire from spreading further.” Bubblebrook admitted softly, recalling how distraught Ottermask had been to be the only survivor. She saw the tom as close as kin, so seeing Ottermask in such pain had broken her heart. “I can only hope to be half as brave as them.”

Coppersky watched closely, his eye following each movement precisely. He chuckled lowly, "It's amazing to me, how kind you all are to your clanmates. Where I came from, despite living in a group you had to feed and fend for yourself. There was no helping one another. I admire the clans' dedication to caring for one another."

Brightrock yawned again and gave the two of them a wave of his tail as he made his way to the warrior's den, "I'll leave you two to it then. Don't do anything too crazy!" He mewed, giving Swanflight a grin as he padded away.
"It must have been difficult living there." Petalcreek said, managing to scoop another fish out of the river. She blinked up at him after she killed the fish and set it aside, "I never realized how different things were outside of the Clans. I honestly can't imagine leaving one of my clanmates to fend for themselves. So you like clan life then? Have the other warriors been treating you okay?"

Smallkit was cheerfully playing with her brother, when all of a sudden a huge wave of water washed them up- She saw her mother, struggling before going under then resurfacing, she twitched in her sleep, her mother came swimming up to her and tried to bring her kits above the water, but then her brother lost his grip, she stared down in horror as she tried to grab him but fell with him. She suddenly bolted awake.

Inwardly, he wanted to see how Duskhawk interacted with most of their clanmates. Until now, she focused mostly on her kin. But lately, she wanted to really get to know her clanmates better. Especially Duskhawk, who seemed to hide alot under his fur. She snorted with humor in response to Brightrock and teasingly called after him. "I'll do everything crazy then!"

Iciclestep stalked quietly after the twoleg. The twoleg stopped to take more pictures of the streams and cattails around him, before he seemed to pull out a square of bark and a stick with a pointed end. Iciclestep watched with bewilderment as the twoleg began dragging the small stick along the square of bark. What was it doing?

"Sounds fine to me." Duskhawk said, standing up from where he was sitting. He glanced at the fresh-kill pile briefly and gave a flick of his ear, "Should we take some prey in case they haven't been fed yet?" He asked, looking back at Swanflight.
(Totally forgot to respond with Blackmask x.x sorry)
Blackmask gave a small nod of agreement to Bubblebrook's statement, "They're sacrifice won't go to waste, that's for sure." He said, moving back to the edge of the river and looking down into the water. "Let's catch some more of those minnows. Think you can herd more over this way?" He asked, looking back at the she-cat.

She nodded to Duskhawk, letting him go into the den first. “Too easy.” Bubblebrook scoffed, though her tone and gaze were bright and playful. She waded to the side, before circling slowly towards Blackmask. The minnows darted away from her, right towards the tom.

Annoyance crept down her spine, fluffing her fur. Even prey would’ve noticed them by now. She paused as the creature began scratching with the stick. What was the point in carrying a stick all the way out here, so far from the twoleg nests? A loud bird call caught the twoleg’s attention, and he looked away from the bark, up toward the sound. As his arm shifted, she caught sight of dark streaks scrawled across the bark. “D’you see that?” She whispered.

As his arm shifted, she caught sight of dark streaks scrawled across the bark. “D’you see that?” She whispered. “Is… is he making marks with that stick?” Iciclestep whispered, transfixed on what he was seeing. He looked at Snowflower for a second, before he looked closer at the small stick. It was the brightest stick he had ever seen, nearly a glowing yellow. No tree he had ever seen had branches or twigs like that. He whispered. “Maybe he’s making markings to show other twolegs back at his nest. Have you ever seen a stick like that?”

"Bai bai," Smallkit said before curling back up to take another nap, alas, this nap, brouught dreams. Gently startled awake by Smallkit's jump, Rosekit blinked sleepy eyes open, curiously looking at the younger she-kit. He mumbled, gentle and curious. "Oh. Why'd you move around? Did you see something scary?" His ears fell as he looked around anxiously. "Scwary" Smallkit agreed nevously, her eyes had become slits and her tail was bushed to twice the normal size, which was big due to her fluffyness, "Scwary.." she muttered saddly.

Have the other warriors been treating you okay?" Coppersky nodded, "I have never slept better than I have curled up in my nest in the warrior's den. I thank whatever led me here every sunrise. Some cats are still wary of me, especially because of my appearance, but that's alright. I know I still have to earn their trust." As she killed the second fish, the tom approached the water several tail-lengths downstream. Taking a deep breath he focused on the water in front of him, eager to try and catch of fish of his own. His eye flicked side to side watching the shadows dance through the water, quick flashes of silver. His paw shot out, slicing through the currant only to pull out empty pawed. Just a few scales and a thin stream of blood for show. He cursed softly, hoping he'd be able to catch at least one fish for the clan today.

Duskhawk gave a nod to Swanflight before he made his way into the elder's den, mewing out a greeting as he did. "Hello. We brought a fish just in case the three of you haven't eaten yet." He said, stepping aside to let Swanflight into the den as well.
Blackmask made quick work of fishing out the minnows from the water, tossing them out onto the shore and quickly killing them and adding them to the growing pile of small fish. "This should be plenty." He said, looking back at Bubblebrook with a flick of his ear. "The river has been plentiful this season, it's hard to believe that leafbare has only just ended." he commented.
Petalcreek watched as Coppersky tried to catch a fish and wandered over to him, letting out a gentle mew, "Try this. Instead of looking everywhere at once, find a focal point on the water." She offered, lifting a paw and placing it just above the water to indicate where he should look. "Once you see that flash of scales at that point, that's when you should strike."

"Yeah... sometimes sleeping gets scary. I saw a big spider when I was asleep once." Rosekit squeaked, before he shuffled closer to Smallkit and pressed to her side. "I can be here, so the scary thing can go away." He offered.
