@mongrel @shootforthestars
Parker ripped his head back from the doorframe, just as the shepherd dog looked towards him. "Drop the steaks, and run. Run, April!" His words were strained and hissed, quiet enough so that the dogs wouldn't be able to discover her presence. "Run, and get somewhere safe. I'll find you later. Just leave me a subtle trail, and your scent will get me the rest of the way. Just go! Before they come." Waving his tail to her, he gestured her away. Nosing the steaks under the building, he could hear the shepherd mutter to the whippet, "Looks like we've got company, Lad." Lad watched, his lips curling into a frightening cross between a snarl and a scowl. He advanced on Parker almost with relish, as though savoring the opportunity for a fight, or at least a verbal showdown.
“Come on,” he challenged. “Come on, imbecile—imbecile, indeed, because how could one be so stupid as to enter an occupied building, notwithstanding the obvious scents?”
He whipped his head toward North. “YOU!” he roared. “Get on the sseused floor, and stay there, dammit. I don't want to hear a single peep from your insubordinate mouth, you hear?”
It was simply fascinating how one so twiggy could speak look so frightfully, one of Lad's many habitual grotesqueries—among other, much more terrifying things: Forcing dogs to kill themselves or rip off their own limbs, teaching pups to savage anything that moved, pitting cats against one another in enclosed spaces . . .
It was also amazing how Lad refrained from addressing Brimstone—unintentionally, but nonetheless. It was almost as though he were beginning to think of Brimstone as more than a mere brute. As soon as Lad called him out, Parker advanced on him, at the same pace that Lad advanced on him. They were the same size, 21 inches tall, at ready to fight. Parker's hackles raised, and he snarled, a grumbling sound from his chest like thunder. "Hey, Twiggy, I'd get yourself there an attitude adjustment, before some big dog comes along, at knocks you down a few pegs. Komuot, I've only just met you, and you disgust me!" It was as if Parker was ready for anything that the dog had to throw at him.
North's teeth bared viciously, and he took a step forward. However, the shepherd dog was upon him, pushing him back with a shoulder to his chest. "Watch yourself, Runner Boy. This isn't your fight."
North's ears flipped back almost immediately. "Hey, lapdog, at least I don't run around herding sheep to my master's command. I run how I want, when I want, and I can control who wins the race." North found a fiery rage building in his chest, as his long tail flew out and whipped Brimstone across the face. "Listen here, you're the smaller one here, but you're bigger than Stickboy over there. What are you doing letting him be in charge."
Brimstone's head was snapped to the side by the force of North's tail, and he growled, low in his chest. "Big mistake, Champ. I'd watch what you are doing."
As soon as April dashed into the building, Parker's heart sunk. Here was the most beautiful dog in his life, putting her and her unborn pups in danger's way for his sake. He couldn't let her do this! Stepping in between the spitting Italian Greyhound and her, his tail raised into a dominant position, and he stretched himself to a full height, pulling his lowly built body into a rigid, flexed position. He didn't even notice the more affectionate thoughts in his head towards April....
How she ran in for him, as soon as she heard he was in danger... She really must have never left! Now she was in danger, and he wouldn't let this stupid little lap dog touch a hair on her precious pelt.
"Hey, mutt, I don't know if it's a fight you want, but it's not with her. If you want a fight, I will give you one."

Thunderstorm wandered around the city. He wasn't good at hunting, and fighting wasn't his strong suit. Maybe if he traded valuables for meat, that would work fine. The Tamaskan dog grunted. He needed to find a safe haven and establish a shop there. The only problem was that there seemed to be no safe places, but he would not show fear. Cowardice was for the weak. There was no place for weak dogs. Thunder kept walking down the street when a glimmer caught his eye. The masculine turned his head to see a jewelry store. What female dog didn't like jewelery? This was a great opportunity to make him rich. Thunder grinned widely, and raced across the street to the store. The male pulled the door handle with his strong jaws, and it soon opened. The man shut the door behind him and gazed at the wonders before him. There were diamond rings, necklaces, bracelets, and headbands. Sapphire, ruby, amethyst, and emerald adorned jewelry also sparkled throughout the room. Thunder pulled a leather bag and swept the jewelry into it with his tail. He continued this process until nothing was left untaken. Satisfied, he perked into the bag. It's contents shone brightly and stunningly. The male smiled. This was perfect. He hoisted the bag onto his shoulders and left the store, proceeding to look for a safe haven. He spotted a lodge up ahead and entered it, spotting other dogs inside. "Hello!" He greeted, noticing they were all female. "I am Thunderstorm, a merchant. Can I interest any of you ladies in some of my fine wares?" He inquired. The man proceeded to reveal the bag's contents. "I have jewelry with emeralds, sapphires, rubies, and diamonds," he stated, beaming at them.

Pandora continued eating her meal. "I didn't know other dogs knew of this place? My human and I walked past it often. The human who worked here would give me treats. How did you guys find this place?" she asked Liberty laid in the corner slowly chewing a slice of bacon. It took a while due to the small size of her mouth. She didn't talk to anyone but her eyes flashed around curiously. Fortissimo talked loudly with a small group of other dogs. The big dog was telling a story from 'the old days' when his job was to look after his Peoples' pup.

He felt he and Brimstone's command fueling his every move. How good and how great it felt to have someone—even if it was a grumpy someone—feel as though they were his partner, his comrade. Raw pleasure slid through his blood and bones.
"Lummox, lummox," he taunted his opponent with a deadly laugh.

@mongrel loziApril threatening, shoveling her muzzle into his personal space, "Miserable, magpie-smart, little cur -" Parker's entrance startled the female from her sting of insults. She took a step back and her ears flattened against her head. His stance confused her. Suddenly she remembered her deceased mate and the way that he had stood in front of her. The stance -one of protection- was the exact same. She tilted her head, momentarily distracted from the situation. Why did Parker feel the need to protect her? She had only met him minutes ago and he was always putting his life on the line. She had come to him, but out of anger for the injustice that he was experiencing not out of protection. She stiffened and moved to say something; however, she was brought back to the present by Lad's threatening movements. When they started to bare teeth, April growled in irritation and building anger.

Lad felt demeaned by the mere notion that this pregnant woman felt herself strong enough to threaten him. Not taking his eyes off Parker, he sneered at April, “You'd better check yourself. You know, slag, you aren't pretty enough to be so stupid.” He gave a leering pause, then went on to say, staring intensely at Parker, “Who's this chunk of a dog, your husband? It's a real shame if he isn't. The Baby Daddy would be ashamed of your betrayal. Especially since you decided on this ... bobblehead.”

*MorningGlory*The reason I posted that message was because I couldn't keep up with all the characters I had. I had planned to remove one of my characters earlier, but I felt bad about deleting one of my characters and leaving you to start over, so I had waited until characters started to bunch up. Once I felt you and Stormheart had gotten your characters together, I felt you may have an easier entrance into the RP. ))

Harper let out a little growl, hunching protectively over her mouse. She quickly softened, apologizing. "I'm sorry. I'm just hungry." She said, then gulped down the last bite of mouse rapidly. "I'm Harper... Who're you?" The auburn dog leaned out to sniff Woodrow as well, then pulled away. "Would you like help catching mice?" She asked, looking over to the corner of the room where a few mice were congregating. Rhapsody was cowering, and flinched when Harper growled. As soon as she softened, however, she seemed to relax. Rhapsody was always quite wary of other dogs, knowing she never was much of a hunter, or a fighter. Her short legs, smushed face, all of it led up to her inabilities in some sort of way. "O-oh... I'm Rhapsody." She stretched out her neck to sniff Harper, still with some degree of wariness. However, when Harper offered to help her hunt mice, she immediately brightened. "Oh yes please! I'm so hungry, and I'm not a very good hunter. I'll bet you a mouse could defeat me in a fight!"Harper happily wagged her tail. "I'd be happy to catch some for you." The auburn dog turned and was quiet, taking small and delicate steps towards the corner of the room where the mice were gathering. They squeaked and scampered over each other, clearly hovering around some spoiled food. As soon as Harper was close enough, she lunged, scooping a mouse into her jaws at once. Her paws pinned two more as the other mice scattered. With the three dead mice, she returned to Rhapsody and dropped them at her paws. "Here you go!"

Parker's ears flipped backwards, and his lips were pulled back from his teeth, contorting into a fearsome grimace. His tail stuck straight up, wagging stiffly at the tip, showing that he was practically twitching to fight. He had to remind himself to stand down, he couldn't endanger April by starting a fight. He wasn't sure he could fight the twiggy, repulsive whippet and protect her from the shepherd at the same time. He wasn't sure where the greyhound stood in this, but he wasn't sure he wanted to fight the bigger dog. He certainly had height to his advantage.
No matter, whether the whippet wanted to engage in verbal or physical battle, he wouldn't be the first to strike. A stiff flick of his tail to April demanded she be quiet. His whole body tense, every time the dog tried to dart in towards the dam, he would step in front of him, ready to bully him out of the way with his chest and shoulders, intent not to be the aggressor. Whatever this whippet wanted, he wouldn't indulge him in his cruel and ridiculous game.

It was almost laughable that this cur thought that Parker was her mate. Then he thinks that bringing up her mate -or as Lad so delicately put it, Baby daddy-would wound her? She gave a short laugh and tilted her head up in the air from behind Parker. He was more of a fool than she thought if he believed that such a jab could injure her. She smirked back at him, content in her silence. He hadn't said anything that would warrant a responce from her. The mother dog knew the game he was playing; she had been a participant many a times. Fortunately, he knew next to nothing about her which was to her advantage. The less someone's knew in a battle of wits, then the better it was her. Let him continue to make a fool of himself and say ridiculous statements. It wouldn't hurt her any.

(Liberty is in the lodge right?)
Amber looked over the jewelry the strange dog was trying to sell. The feminine spotted an sapphire feathered earring pair. "How much?" She inquired, pointing at the earrings with her tail.
Thunder smiled and said, "That will be one steak please," he stated.
Amber nodded and ran into the kitchen. The meat freezer was still open. She grabbed a medium-sized need steak and trotted back into the common room. "Here," she barked, dropping it at Thunder's paws.
Thunder grinned and said, "I can pierce your ears for you."
Amber nodded and sat still as the merchant dog pierced her ears. She grimaced in pain as the needle part went through, but soon relaxed. The two earrings were now in her ears. The feathers of a Jay, and studded beads of various shades of blue complimented the sapphire studs well. "Thank you," she said, as she walked back to the couch.
Thunder nodded and turned to face Liberty. "How about you pretty lady? Can I interest you in some of my fine wares?"
