"And guilty I may be, but don't give up on me... We will still be thick as thieves."

Normally, the task of shopping was one she enjoyed. It gave her an excuse to go into town and skip out on some of the chores needed to do around the house. However, today, Anya wasn't thrilled. She might have calmed down a bit from yesterday, but the thought of having to go face Warren wasn't one she thought she could handle on her own. Which was why when Ryner volunteered Seth to go help her, she breathed a silent sigh of relief. With him there, there would be little chance of any awkward conversations starting.
Currently, she was walking beside Seth and debating on if she should take his hand or not when Seth spoke up. "Yeah, we probably should, shouldn't we?" Anya agreed. "I know Aidan must be about to explode waiting for it."

"Of course not," Anya told him. There was a pause before she added, "You're more like cart that the mule is hooked up to." She giggled and led him down the aisles.
Twenty minutes later and one distracted stop in the pet section, the groceries were gathered and they were ready to check out. This was the part Anya wasn't looking forward to, but she pushed down the dread. Warren was still there, trying to look busy with several items of inventory that needed sorting through and taken to the correct shelves. Yet when they approached the counter, even he had to face the music.
"Good morning, Anya," he greeted, but the light tone was strained. There was an apology in his eyes, but he was waiting to see how she would act before trying his luck for an actual conversation.
"Warren," Anya returned, her voice neutral.

Warren turned his gaze to Seth with undisguised disdain. It was pointless to try and hide his dislike for the man now, and he knew there was nothing that could make him fall even further from Anya's good graces than he already had. "I work seven days a week, but you never see that from the amount of goofing off you do," he commented.
"Warren, please, just ring this up for us," Anya said, setting her items onto the counter.
Turning his head, he nodded and went to work adding up the total amount of their purchase.

Warren missed the eye roll as he bagged up all the items. He settled up the total and collected the money. Then he gathered up the bags and walked around the counter to hand them to Anya. There, he hesitated. "Anya, can... Do you have a minute?" Warren asked.
"We have to get back home," Anya replied.
"Please, just for a second."
"No, Warren," the woman told him, already turning to head to the door. She made it one step before she felt a hand grab her arm. Not forcefully, but still enough to make her tense and turn to face him. With her hands full, she couldn't push him away. "Let go."
"As soon as you just give me two seconds to talk with you," Warren replied.
