"And guilty I may be, but don't give up on me... We will still be thick as thieves."

Anya didn't mind telling him the stories. For while, yes, some were bittersweet retellings of her and Parker's mischief they had found, many were still funny even to her, especially those of her older brothers. She she answered every question, and often gave more than one answer to some.
The food was eaten and everything was put away, Anya sat, cross-legged, her attention torn between the sky and Seth. At his question, she turned a smile in his direction. "It was a great distraction," she confirmed. "Thank you."

Seth blinked a couple times, not expecting that answer. "Oh." Realizing he was staring, he looked away, out into the night of the willow groove. The silence stretched, and then he broke it.
"I don't like the dark," he confessed quietly. "I don't think I ever have. Most people work during the day, and come home to spend the evening and night doing what they want, with whoever they want. Not me. I worked most of my… jobs at night, skulking around in the shadows. For me, night is when the monsters come out. It's when my monster comes out."

Anya was about to try and call him out for teasing, sure that he was joking, when he was suddenly pulling her down to the ground. Out of habit, she tended, but when they only moved to get a better view of the stars, she let herself relax. She had laid beside him plenty of times before. This was no different. As if to prove herself right, she shifted just a little to get into a more comfortable position and made sure she didn't do anything that would make him move his arm. Yes, it was a little to familiar to the way Daniel had grabbed her before, but she was pushing that thought down as best as she could. She refused to have this moment ruined.
