After a few rounds Amanda was a space away from the star, and the space before it was Bowser, "Come on more than a one," she said as she closed her eyes, and pressed A, and got a two, and she got the first star.

"Alright let's see you try, cause the next star is on one of the two bridges," Amanda said as she finished her turn.

"Stick together from here, though?" It wasn't much of a question. If Redmont was in a state of unrest, Meira could imagine nothing worse than being separated from her twin. Danger or not, she intended to stick to Thayer's side like glue. Even if that meant eschewing nice dresses and patient luxuries, at the end of the day, she'd rather keep her sister over anything else.
Speaking of Chastmere, though, the baron was hurrying out, accompanied by Asper, who had clearly worked up a sweat. Probably from searching for his master and trying to keep some semblance of efficiency and calm among the staff remaining indoors. Chastmere left him standing just off the pavement and marched directly to Danir and Tawna. "Are you all right?" he asked. "Asper got word from one of my men and fetched me as soon as he could. I cannot believe this happened the day of your arrival. I thought Redmont was more secure."

"You weren't lying when you said you were a heavy sleeper," Loran commented, glancing over at the girl. There was a faint smile on his face to let her know he didn't mean anything by his words. "And yes, I assume it's safe to say good afternoon." The elf tried his best to sit up, grunting slightly as he shifted the pillow behind him. He wasn't in a perfect position, but he had adjusted himself all he wanted to at the moment. He was upright, and that's all he cared about. "I've been up for the past few hours," he answered her question. "I didn't have the heart to wake you seeing as you stayed up pretty late last night. You needed to rest. As for how I'm feeling, better than last night, but far from being okay." ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Kellan let his mind wander as he jogged. He was away from most of the dorms now, so he let himself relax. There was nothing better than running on trails, especially hiking trails. Back in his old town, he had lived outside the city limits, which meant he had access to all kinds of hiking trails to get his workout fix on. Many of them shared common destination: a large lake where he had spent many days playing, swimming, and fishing with his family. It was one detail that he would miss now that he lived in the city, but he was sure he could find a way to compromise. Moving here wasn't exactly an easy decision for him to make, but at the same time, it was beneficial for him nonetheless. In order for him to pursue the career he wanted to learn, he had to attend this college. It was the closest to his hometown. So he figured this would give him some experience living on his own. It was a win/lose situation, but one he could live with. He was lost in his thoughts as he continued down the barely noticeable path, completely unaware of his surroundings even though he was staring straight out in front of him. So imagine his surprise when he run up on a girl who was also out walking so early in the morning. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Winter rolled his eyes as he listened to her. "Is there even anything to do around here that is enjoyable?" he muttered. "Something tells me there isn't." (So sorry my replies are short. >.< I promise, they'll get better.) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* James chuckled and picked up the other controller. "Then you get first pick of the track," he said, sitting down on his bed. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* (Yeah, it seems people were either fans of one or the other, lol.) Danir stood up as well, his eyes scanning the alley. "These don't look like elven coins," he muttered, stooping down to pick up some of the gold. "Then again, we don't put a lot of detail into our coins, believe it or not. There's no telling where he got this gold from. However, if someone was going to frame us for his death, then why would they have bothered with gold? We have far more valuable things that would fetch a heft price if he were to resell." Shaking his head, he dropped the coins back onto the ground. "I think we should take the man back to the castle for the baron to inspect. He may know something about this attempt." Sage too, was zoned out of reality and losing herself in her memories. Her head was lowered and bobbing from side to side as she gazed sightless at her dirty sneakers, but the abrupt addition of a pair of shoes to her narrow vision quickly jarred her back, and she immediately halted her steps to avoid a collision. What was someone doing out so early in the morning? This would be the first time she'd actually seen another living soul on this trail, and she'd be lying if she claimed that she didn't feel at least a small pang of alarm, or tightened her grip on her phone in her pocket as she reluctantly lifted her head to me this stranger's eyes. Slowly, her eyes made their way up and she visibly relaxed the tension in her shoulders when she noticed his outfit, he obliviously had been out to jog or something. Any feeling of ease she'd obtained immediately vanished when she finally caught sight of his face. No All the blood drained from her face, leaving a worrisome shade of chalk white one might not think possible as her eyes widened to the size of mini saucers, a wave of shock numbing her. Impossible. He's he's..... The poor girl beginning to visibly tremble, her lips shakily trying to form words, but she couldn't squeeze anything out of her choked throat. This can't be happening, I'm not crazy! One fumbling hand was removed from her pocket as she pointed a unstable pale finger in the young man's direction, the horror shading her green eyes almost palpable. "Y-y-y-y-you're d-d-dead." Words finally tumbled from her mouth, if that's what you would call her pathetic whisper. All she could do was stare at what could only be the doppelganger of her recently deceased boyfriend, or perhaps it was his ghost?

"I will get that one," James stated confidently as he rolled the dice to take his turn.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Thayer smiled a bit and nodded. "I promise, we'll stick together," she promised. Though she was the adventurous one, the idea of something happening to her sister if she wasn't around to help scared her. Mei was the one who knocked common sense back into her if she was concocting a stupid plan. If she wasn't around, Thayer wouldn't know what to do. "I doubt we'll be exploring any time soon, so we won't have a reason to split up again."
Danir turned to face the baron and nodded. "Yes, we are quiet alright, though it was my daughters and your son who saw the even up close. I believe they are okay, just a bit shaken up," she said. "It is tragic that this happened, but I assure you the elves are not at fault. I believe, as does some of your men, that someone has tried to frame us to cause trouble."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Kellan caught sight of how the girl had stopped and was standing with her phone clutched. He slowed his own pace and held up his hands in greeting. "Hey, don't mind me. I'm just passing through," he said, smiling to show her he didn't mean any harm to her. He noticed her relax for a moment before she meet his gaze. Then she turned almost a deathly pale. His smile faded into a look a of concern, but before he could ask if everything was okay, she spoke. Her comment only left him in confusion. "Um," he started, trying to pick his words carefully, "I assure you, I'm not dead. I think I would know about that if I was. Though you do look as if you've seen a ghost."

Grateful, Meira gave Thayer one more hug before turning to the conversation between Chastmere and their parents. Even if exploring was off the table for a while, she wanted to know exactly what it was they were dealing with.
Chastmere blanched and looked to Pax, who gave him a reassuring nod to continue. He was unhurt, and questions between father and son could apparently wait. Chastmere accepted it just as his oldest man spoke again. "I've seen elven arrows, and these are just copies, created by someone who has heard stories of elven warfare but never experienced it up close. Too many details are inconsistent with actual arrows."
Here, one of the small elven guard reached back into her quiver and supplied an arrow, holding it in the flat of her palm. "He's right," she said. "Very few of our arrows deviate from this standard, and when they do, it's usually in the form of spellwork carved onto the shaft, not different dyes and arrowheads. Whoever did this is either unaware how careless they were, or..." She frowned, brows furrowing. "Or it was made poorly on purpose. To distract us from something."

"yeah, yeah, I know," James said. He had been messed up many times by that stupid question mark. It was almost like he was cursed to always land on it. This time was no different.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Danir listened to all of this, sifting through the details as they were coming into the light, even if it was only repeated information that they had already established. "If you will allow me, Baron Chastmere, I might be able to figure out who did made the arrows with magic," he said. "I'm not skilled enough to get an identity, but I'll be able to know for sure if this was the work of a human trying to blame elves, or an elf trying to throw the blame on a humans."

"Then you can put the body anywhere to keep him for a few days," Danir said. "If I can find who made the arrow, then I may be able to find some hidden clues on the body as well." At his daughter's words, he looked over at her and nodded. "Yes, it'll be good to have a second pair of eyes to help look for things I might have missed," he said. "You can help as long as you like. And you can send someone of your choice as well, Baron Chastmere, to prove we will not give you any misinformation."

Joining SN: Tansypath Plot (please give title, or plot number in which section): Kidnapped Heart Character's Name: Jai Description: Jai is tall and solidly build, just enough to look slim rather than a beanpole. He has wild black hair that's longer on one side and refuses to be properly combed, deep brown skin, and crafty brown eyes that look black in certain lights. Personality: Unfailingly confident. He wouldn't call himself cocky, because he won't just show off on a moment's notice (not that he's against showing off). Rather, he lives by the philosophy that confidence isn't arrogance if it can be backed up. He simply believes that's he's very good at what he does, and that he deserves every good thing in life. He also believes that he has to go out and get these good things himself. This drive combined with a taste for adventure and an appreciation for the finer things in life has led him to thievery. He is fairly good at getting a read on peoples' emotions, due to the fact that he himself feels emotion very deeply, and he tries to use it to get people to like him rather than risk getting hurt himself. Password: Nightmare Other (Optional):

Joining SN: Tansypath Plot (please give title, or plot number in which section): Runaway Character's Name: Kit Volkov Description: Kit stands at about 6'0" and is broad-shouldered and powerful. He's white but tan, with shortish shaggy black hair, intense green eyes, and a permanent scowl. He has intricate tattoos from his collarbones down each arm to his knuckles. Personality: He is a grumpy, fierce soul, and tends to be a pessimist. He's very often suspicious and prickly, and also is constantly smoking a cigarette, making it hard to get to know him without him shoving you away. He has his moments of gentleness--but his aversion to trust and weakness makes this very rare. His driven personality can be used to accomplish a lot, if he's willing to try. That same aggression can be used in tandem with loyalty and a desire to protect, if you've managed to get his trust. Or it can lead to self-destruction. Password: Nightmare Other (Optional): I hope you don't mind I took the werewolf guy, haha.

At this, Asper gave a stiff bow. "I would be honored to lend you my services, sir," he said. "Perhaps I can offer you some insight into Redmont, should something related to the town arise. Also, I can show you the way to the cold boxes. We should take the body there so that it doesn't rot in the heat. That will not be beneficial."
"Thank you, Asper," Pax said, moving toward the man himself, joined by the footman momentarily. They hoisted the body with Asper at the man's feet, and began heading down a narrow stony path that lead around to the back of the estate, beyond the stables. "I nearly forgot about the heat."
But Tawna hesitated to follow, even as Chastmere, his men, and a couple of the elves did. "I don't like the scorch marks," she admitted. "There was nothing there that could have produced them. Someone must have disposed of whatever it was."

[no worries! mine might get that way. i'm catching up on a lot of fics i've fallen behind on.]
Tawna nodded, and without another word, though she did gently brush Danir's hand with her own, she swept over to her daughters. "Mei, go with your father so he can start right away. You've got good eyes, and I'm sure you'll be of help." She smiled thinly as Meira agreed, brimming with nervousness and excitement as she fell into step beside Danir, before looking to Thayer.
"If there's something you didn't mention in front of Chastmere's men," she said gently, "now would be a good time to share it."

[i'm dying i have so many fics to catch up on and some are so long and i don't remember where i left off so i just have to start over. rip me.]
"Just tell me what you need a hand with and I'll do it," Meira replied, bunching her fists in the hem of her tunic. Death was not a comfortable thing to be around, but if that was the price of admission to witness magic, she'd take it, and both she and her father knew it. It didn't stop the body from being unpleasant to be around, though.
"Ew," she muttered under her breath, wrinkling her nose in a decidedly undignified way.
Tawna cracked a wry smile. "Because I know you're smart enough not to share everything with people you've just met. Like Chastmere. You're not in trouble, but this man's death could be trouble. If something else went on, then it's safest for us all to know about it. Also," she added, raising an eyebrow, "I think you have a little berry juice on your chin."
