Parker did as he was told and hit the punching bag squarely. He had the rough basics. He punch had the accuracy and it had the force behind it, but it was very much a brawler's punch. Meaning, he saw, he swung, he hit. There was little strategy behind it.

Now she was thoroughly confused. Anya wanted to ask what he meant by that, but he had already excused himself to go change. Dhe glanced at her mother and saw a slightly amused and knowing look on her face. She couldn't say anything, however, for the rest of her family came through the door, soaked to the bone. Now was apparently not the time for answers. Having no other option, she pushed the subject to the back of her mind and stood to help fix lunch for the returned Dorreh men.

Sol watched silently, his expression revealing nothing. "Not bad," he said. "Not good, but not bad. Your power is only coming from your arm and shoulder when it should be coming from your legs. And you give too much warning before you strike. Anyone with half a brain could dodge or deflect that." He shifted so he was standing beside Parker again. "When you strike, you want it hard and fast. You have the hard — mostly — you just have to work on your speed." And suddenly he was punching the bag, his movements so clean and swift you might have missed it if you blinked. What's more, when he hit the bag it moved back almost half an inch.
~ • ~ • ~ Seth returned shortly after the Dorreh men. His hair was still damp, but the rest if him was dry and in clean clothes. He greeted everybody, joked around a bit as he got himself a plate, and sat beside Aidan to eat.

Parker studied him with mock wariness, slowly stepping over to where Sol indicated. "And you're sure you're over the whole, me getting you washed overboard thing?" he asked. "Because I feel like this would be a fine time for you to get revenge on that, and I would rather like to keep my face in one piece."
~*~*~
"I'm sure," Marcus told him, though he studied the young man for a minute. Seth was good with keeping his thoughts to himself, but as a father of five boys, he had acquired a sense for when things were off. There was something more behind Seth's offers, but he wasn't sure what it was. And he wasn't sure if the man would appreciate him trying to get him to open up and talk about it. "If I won't let my sons work out there, I'm not asking you to do it either, but I appreciate the offer. No, leave it be. Whatever is left can be picked up in the morning. Even if it is lost, we'll be fine. We have plenty to save for ourselves and then some. We won't be lacking."

Sol smirked. "When I get my revenge for that, trust me, you'll know it. No, this is just lesson two. Now, hands up. And — block!" Sol threw a fast punch, only to stop inches away from Parker's nose. He smiled smugly. "Too slow."
~ • ~ • ~ Seth looked up and met Marcus's gaze. "Okay." He held the older man's stare a moment more before turning to Aidan, who was waiting semi patiently. As in, he was being quiet, but he was tugging consistently on Seth's shirt to get his attention. When Seth finally gave it to him, he lit up and started talking a mile a minute. Seth ate a mouthful of food and listened, smiling.
( Okay, I say we skip over the rest of lunch, but not sure to where. How long does the rain need to last? The rest of the day and night? )

"Of course you can." Sol lowered his fist. "Come, throw the same punch at me. Don't hold back, and don't hesitate. Don't make it easy for me." He adopted a relaxed ready stance, eyes never leaving Parker's as he waited for the punch.
~ • ~ • ~ ( Oh, she so needs to confront him. I say she does so right before bed. She can ambush him when he comes into the room after he takes his turn in the bathroom. 😉 Also, because of the storm, I feel like Maria and Seth would have convinced Aidan to stay the night, and he would probably use Parker's bed to be close to Seth. So, after Seth has his turn in the bathroom, he sends Aidan to take his turn, and as soon as he's gone, Anya pounces. xD )

Parker felt Sol block his punch, and he jumped back a bit as he was poked in the stomach. Once more, he had been close to getting hit. "Okay, so how do I figure out how to block the punches?" he asked. "Because this," he indicated to Sol's fist that had poked him, "is going to give me some serious trust issues."

(I can. ^^ )
The rest of the day went by uneventful. Due to the weather, Aidan had been trapped, and welcomed, in the house until the storm died down. To pass the time, the young boy seemed to hang around Seth the most, even as the others broken out cards and other games to play. Anya participated, but the comment Seth had made earlier was still lurking in the back of her mind. She had been hoping to find a moment where she could ask him about it, but it was kind of hard at the moment to find the privacy to do so.
Hours passed, and still the rain continued. It had gotten to the point where Maria insisted that Aidan stay the night. She wouldn't send him back into town like this. Besides, with Parker out of town, they had the room. Current, Anya was helping Aidan settle in for the night, preparing the bed and making sure he would be comfortable enough to sleep.

Sol chuckled and relaxed his stance. "Okay, when you're fighting, do you try to anticipate your opponent's moves?"
~ • ~ • ~ Seth was as distracted as Anya during the afternoon of card and board games, though with Aidan there it made it easy for him to pretend he was all present. He was grateful for his ten minutes in the bathroom before bedtime, though. It gave him a chance to get his thoughts in order. He wasn't looking forward to this conversation, but he had promised Anya he would talk to her later. It was later, and he knew if he put it off much longer, he wouldn't be talking about it at all.
So he forced himself to finish up and not linger in the bathroom. He returned to the room to find Aidan and Anya making up Parker's bed. Anya's half looked nice; Aidan's looked like he had already slept in the bed. The sight made Seth smile. Sometimes the kid acted twice his age, and it was moments like this that reminded him that Aidan was only eight.
"Seth!" Spotted, Aidan hopped off the bed and came over to him. "What took you so long?'
Seth chuckled. "I was only ten minutes. Twelve, tops. Now it's your turn. Here, I got you a toothbrush. Go wash up for bed."
Aidan made a face as he accepted the toothbrush. "Do I have to?"
"If you want me to tell you that story like I promised, yes."
Aidan's eyes widened. "Oh yeah! Be right back!" And he was gone, quick as a whip.
Seth shook his head. "That kid could outrun champions," he muttered, mostly to himself.

"Try would be the correct term to use," Parker answered. "Trustbbe told, I haven't been in a lot of fights save those I had with my brothers. Bht those turned into more wrestling matches than anything. "
~•~•~
"He could outrun you if he wanted to," Anya added, smiling as she finished fixing things up for Aidan. It was all going to be a mess again soon, so she didn't know why she bothered. However it gave her something to do. She straightened and lightly folded her arms in front of her. For a second, she didn't say anything. How did she approach this topic? It shouldn't be anything too heavy. After all, what could he and Warren gotten between them in such short time? "So, you going to tell me what happened when you went back to get Warren?"

They practiced his dodging abilities for the next thirty minutes or so, and Parker was pretty sure had Sol not been holding back, he would be in rough shape. At first, there was no dodging the hits. It was just too hard to judge where Sol was going to be aiming or which type of punch he was going to throw. After a while, it got a little easier, but by then, he had lost his energy. "Alright, truce," he called, taking a step back as he caught his breath. Those weeks held captive had done a number on his physical health, and he hadn't worked himself back up to his normal stamina and strength. Doing his part of the chores helped, but two days wasn't enough to get him back into shape fully.

"No, but..." Anya started, but Seth's second question made her pause. "Warren's one of my best friends," she answered. "I've told you this. We've grown up together, and he's like another brother to me."

Sol wasn't surprised that it took Parker a bit of time to start predicting his moves. Sol had years of training at not being predictable, and while those skills were greatly limited when he was only using standard punches, it was still an edge. But Parker did begin predicting, and most of the time he guessed right. It was promising progress.
When Parker called called it quits, Sol relaxed and stepped back. The last half hour had been like a cool off exercise for him, but he remembered now that Parker wasn't as physically fit as he was. Sol decided then and there that if this training was going to continue, he would need to work on that.
Sol headed toward a cupboard in the corner. "Good job tonight," he said as he returned with a clean towel. He handed it to Parker. "You're a quick learner." He started pushing the punching bag back toward the corner. "If you keep this up, you'll be able to kick all your brothers' asses at once by the time you get home."
~ • ~ • ~ Seth shifted to face her fully and folded his arms over his chest. "And that's all? He's never been, even considered, more?" He really hoped he didn't have to clarify what "more" meant in this case.
