Margaret should have been used to the cold by now, after living up North. But instead she was thick with fluffy mink furs dyed navy. She was dressed all in navy this morning, her satin dress embroidered with silver lace on the bodice and pearls in her ears and on her neck. She dared not get cold, not now she was expecting. Thankfully, she didn't have to wait long. Soon she heard the clicking of heals from across the yard, and there she saw Marion.
Her lips curled into a smile and she sped to meet the woman. "I'm so glad you made it my dear, I have a plan," Margaret started, checking all around them to make sure they were truly alone -- and the only one watching was god.
"There's a young man -- Thomas Empson. Sir Richard Empson's worst kept secret...his eldest son. But, by all accounts, pretty, and quite the charmer. If he can't seduce Katherine I don't know who will. And if she gets married to him in secret. Well...my brother will be upset, but some young thing will capture his attention soon enough. As for her family back in Spain...if they're cross enough they'll send an assassin or something to kill the boy. But that's no loss to us, or to England. So what do you say, do you wish to introduce Thomas Empson...as your brother?"
She had left that part out until the last moment, nervous Marion would back out. "She won't even grant the infamous Thomas Empson for an audiance...but Thomas Sheffield..."

She rode happily alongside him, her sable mount with its head held high, looking about them eagerly. Much like his rider the horse was clearly eager to be out of the dark barn and feeling the fresh air on his face. It was rare she got to actually ride out now, she had taken on much of her fathers workload and found little time for herself.
Her riding companions voice bought her thoughts back to the conversation and she glanced in his direction. Of course there was a story behind it, one she wasn't sure if she should be ashamed of. Of course she had no effect on her fathers life but somehow she couldn't help but feel responsible.
"I don't remember the last time I held any sensible conversation with my father. He drinks a lot you see, and I think it has had an effect on his mind." She admitted quietly. "He was never a pleasant man to begin with but this need to drink has made him more so." “Ah,” Richard said, respectful of the story but unphased by it. It didn’t change how he thought of Brinn – she was still an incredible women. “Never taken to drink myself. Of course, I have a whisky now and then if the King’s offer but it just tastes bitter – like something unholy and vile,” he added, remembering how long it took for him to understand why men become obsessed with the stuff. However, Richard had his own obsessions, every man did. But Richard’s were a little more…savoury – such as his acclimation to catholisism or being a good chamber-boy. He was also quite the fan of literature, whenever he could get his hands on a good book. But right now, all those things were far from his mind. He should have been thinking about the horse – but he wasn’t. He was just bobbing along, not realising how long he had been looking at Brinn. But that’s what he’d been doing. The copper curls shimmering in the wind, reflecting a beautiful orange glow against the setting sun. Was the sun setting? It was that time already? They would need to be heading back soon. He hadn’t noticed the time. He’d been indulging in…admiration, of a creature unlike anything he’d seen before. “Why have you been hidden away in the stables the whole time?” Richard asked softly. “You could easily get a place at court if you tried. You’d even get a title if you were prepared to settle for a Baron or a Knight for a husband.”

((I haven't been officially diagnosed yet but I've been perfectly certain I have it for about 4 years now- seems to be getting worse as I get older but I'm just too scared to go to the doctors because the past two times I've been the first time they brushed me off bc it was near exam time and the second time they told me it was just anxiety (but that only explains my social situations. Not anything else at home, nor concentration, nor hyperness or inatentiveness or basically my life constantly a mess) it's frustrating >:| most my friends are sure I have it too and every other test I've done online has urged me to go get it seen to but yknow Being brushed off makes one feel rather insignificant *dumps my life on you as well as the rp forms* If you're alright with handling the forms, then of course you can just move it all over :') once you've done it I'll empty out the post a bit to put some other stuff in)) [[ The doctors might be...unwanting to diagnose because of the pills that it'll put you on. But honestly, you're intitled to ask for a second opinion or switch surgery's (that's a pain though). Ask them if you can get put through for an assessment. It'll take like a year, but if you bring it up again, they will probably refer you. And doctor's have a way of making people feel small and unworthy...I should know, my mother is one ]] Kaiser tensed as he was dragged into the conversation, and silently examined Iona, extending his hand politely towards her. 'It's a pleasure to meet you, Iona. I am very sorry for your huge loss; it doesn't get easier.' He said bluntly. He wasn't one to milk things. 'If ever you need help, you may rely on Roewen to provide it.' Katherine smiled and stepped towards the young girl. 'Hello Iona; I'm Katherine. I'm sure you're doing a fine job of running things in the Crystal Isles.' Morcan examined her, then looked over at Valare. 'I was only 15 when I had to take over when my father and uncle disappeared.' He calmly told her. 'And I believe Emperor Daniel was ten when he first took the crown; he ruled beautifully, as far as history tells us, for about 240 years.' 'Before something turned bad.' Katherine mumbled, knowing Zale'mas had a standing alliance with Bra'ghan. Alain listened to everything, not so angry as curious now, head tilted. Iona dipped her head towards Kaiser. "Thank you your majesty," she murmured, being polite and eloquent as ever. She was sided by two armed guards -- Thomas and Nathaniel, that had been charged with guarding her since she was a girl. After what happened to her family, neither of them dared leave her side. And while the humans in the group wouldn't have been able to see, since they wore big metal helmets that covered their eyes, the lycan's could probably smell that they too were werewolves. It wasn't the custom to keep non-royal werewolves around, especially at a Kingsmeet. But the news of her families death hopefully overshadowed their appearance at the meet. As soon as Katherine spoke, she dipped slightly, pulling out her silky chiffon green skirt into a curtsy. "Thank you your highness. And, congratulations on your wedding -- before her passing, my mother expressed a deep desire to attend. Unfortunately, she did not live to see it, but I'm sure somewhere she is pleased," she said, glancing up towards the sky with fond memories of her mother -- hoping that she, and the rest of her family, were looking down. But for all Iona's grace and diplomacy, she had been hardened by pain -- which meant currently, she had no patience for Valare's propriety. "As for you, your majesty," she snapped, turning to the Zale'sih queen. "I'm sorry you think I'm too young to rule, but every single member of my family just died and I'll be damned if I let my Kingdom slip into the hands of some half-witted regent, or, gods-forbid, you. So while you may object to my age there's really very little you can do about it so I suggest you co-operate with the Queen of the Crystal Isle or your husband will find himself without any ground crystal cosmetic powder for his pretty little face!" every word was said fearlessly, laced with just a hint of anger. Valare was a ferocious women -- and even Mila, the women Caristonia had thought the most powerful in the world, was scared of her. So if Caristonia was going to do anything in her rule, it would be to stand up to the tyrant that was Valare Wulfblood. She left the queen static in her astonishment, before heading towards the building, slipping past the Prince of Zale'mas as she did. "Alain," she said, acknowledging him, taking half a second to glance him up and down. Once she had faced away from him she smiled. Same eyes as his mother, same figure as his father...she'd had such a crush on him as a kid, and it hadn't totally faded away, if she was being honest. But no matter that now -- she had business to attend to. She was the Queen of the Crystal Isle damnit, and now she would act like it. [[Oh my godddd it’s so good. I’m really tempted to draw Caristonia now, since she’s the only one who doesn’t have pictures up.]] Alain watched the five people from Varezi walk into the building, then examined Iona, and then finally looked back at his own mother. 'We should go in too, mother.' He briskly said, once more leading the way. Alain's confidence did not come from a cocky attitude, but anger and an annoyance to get things over and done with. Valare was still recovering from Caristonia’s outburst. The audacity! She’d given so much to the isles…and to be embarrassed so publicly…she wouldn’t seek revenge, but she would be much more wary of that girl now, and would perhaps spend the meet improving other relations. A thought was cast to the Emperor. She’d need to get Alain out of the way – not because of his disagreements, but even though she’d allied herself with Daniel, she didn’t trust the men. Who could? He was a madmen. But he was a madmen she needed. Because if you can’t take respect by love, you take it by fear. And she wanted all the respect – she wanted to be the High Queen. Inai was a century younger than her, at least. And too soft, pampered in her high towers with her silky scarves and pretty daughters. No, Valare was the most powerful one and she wanted to be the alpha of this pack of kings. But she didn’t need to trouble Alain with such desires – he was just here to enjoy himself. “Do we have to,” Valare muttered as she caught up with Alain. “It’s basically one big bloody family reunion for Inai now,” she added, but smiled as she thought about watching Caristonia trip over her own words. Deserved the little s*it right, being so rude to her elders. [[is it ok to use the jealous b*tch queen motivation with Valare Bloodeh?]] Next, Alain with his Mother, sitting beside her; his gaze was keen and focused as he scoured the room with interest. Ahh, there he was -- making every Oceanic girl in the room piss themselves. Valare didn’t know what was so nerve racking about madness. It was unpredictable, and sometimes violent. But that just meant you were prepared for everything – your reflexes got faster, because you were prepared for them to pull out a knife at any time. “Your majesty,” Valare said, peering round towards Daniel and dipping her head. “Glad to have pleasant company for a change,” she said, sliding a glance behind her and chuckling slightly. She neglected to mention Alain to him. Of course, he’d see him, but maybe he’d just brush over it. No one really thought much of Tabir when he was here, and while she wanted everyone else to see how perfect her son was maybe…perhaps not the Emperor. Lest his madness causes problems. Inai nodded and chewed her thumbnail in thought, before pulling it away to speak. 'We actually are having a shortage of fish.' She said awkwardly, noticing the incredulous looks she received. 'Yes.... Oceana is having a shortage... of fish. It's our main food source, and we can't work out why they're leaving the bays.' 'It's a nuisance.' Said Alesana, who glanced towards Katherine to carefully examine her twin, evidently ensuring she was coping okay with Varezi and her new husband. 'In Aquadell, too?' Katherine questioned, meeting her twins stare. 'Yes.' Alesana nodded. 'Me and tide have been out to see multiple times; all the shores of fish are just... gone. It's like they've swam away.' Katherine frowned and looked away. Kaiser coughed nervously and said; 'locusts are eating our crops.' Katherine's eyes widened, then she said, 'are any other countries facing widespread food problems?' The hands of Varezi, Frissa, Roewen, Zale'mas, Oceana, Bra'ghan and Aquadell were raised, and Katherine felt a horror run through her. This could not possibly be a mortal problem. 'Have we upset the Ancients, somehow?' Inai murmured, frowning. 'We are still enacting the proper rituals- offerings and taking care of their temples...' 'What... exactly.. are the problems?' Katherine asked. 'Roewen is currently facing illness and locusts eating our crops.' Kaiser said, 'along with violent storms.' The ice princess spoke up next; 'We too are facing illness, but also... something else... the wights are becoming far more active- they're even venturing outside during the day. We can't go hunting or fishing safely anymore.' 'Plague and destruction.' Katherine murmured. 'Shortage of fish- Tides.' She looked towards the Zale'masians. Alain straightened and spoke for his mother- 'we too are facing illness. It seems lycanthropy is spreading like wildfire, and some other unmarked disease which is killing off mages.' 'Only mages?' 'Only mages.' 'Chaos.' Katherine said, then looked towards Daniel, who said, 'earthquakes. Even I'm struggling to hold them off.' Katherine finally noticed the dark circles under his eyes; the veins standing out on his hands. 'Earth.' She fearfully said. Morcan's eyes widened. 'No.' 'It's the only explanation.' Katherine replied. 'They were sealed over 300 years ago, Katherine, those ancients can't possibly be causing all of this destruction, their crystals would have awoken if they were unsealed.' Katherine frowned at this and realised he was right, chewing her bottom lip. 'That's- that's a good point.' She mumbled. Valare would have laughed. Oceana out of fish. Served the little sh*t’s right. But she was having the same problem herself. She’d started to ration, and even her own weight was diminishing as she gave to the people. She tried to restrict the amount of babe’s being born, so that there would need to be less food…But that never worked. But the Queen stayed silent as she saw everyone else mentioning the same. The cogs started working in her mind – different possibilities, bleeding through. By the ancients… she murmured. No, no. She realised none of what she thought could be right. Instead, she waited for the rest of them to come up with their solutions. As soon as it was Zale’mas’ turn to speak, Valare turned to her son, nodding slightly to tell him he could take the lead. As he spoke eloquently, but still honestly about their problem she smiled with pride. At least in a world that was being ravaged, there was still one good thing she had. But she was brought out of her admiration when Katherine spoke up. Surprisingly, the girl had said something good. No…remarkable. And if both of them had thought of it… “Is there any way they could have gotten round that particular problem,” Valare voiced, making it quite clear by the grave look in her eyes she thought Katherine’s theory had merit. [[By the way is the Crystal Isles having the same problem, or are they just like floating around in the sea totally fine?]]

((That sounds GREAT TO ME. XD She can hit on Alain if she wants x'D ALSO GUYS MORE LORE!!!! Before I go to bed bc WHY NOT CHOOSING CEREMONYthe choosing ceremony is not something that is planned; it is spontaneous. Potentia will judge if a person is ready and worthy to be chosen by an ancient, and then the ceremony begins. First, the one to be chosen will be surrounded by all of the Ancients, standing in a large circle; it is very rare for Potentia to actually attend. The Ancients will then examine what they see and what they feel; they may want to test how the chosen reacts to certain stimulants. Then, one by one, they will step backwards out of the circle, and disappear; those left will give the person the choice to choose their ancient, in a role reversal of the ancient choosing them. Then, the ancient will provide the chosen with an item, or their claim- such as a bite- and then return to the spirit realm. The chosen must then dedicate a small portion of their lives to giving offerings to this ancient and studying their ways, whilst receiving health/strength/etc benefits, granted wishes, and help in different situations- especially dangerous ones- in return for the offerings. Ancients take good care of their students.)) [[lol that's totally happening. While Valare just freaks out at that. Also do choosing ceremonies happen totally at random? Like, you could be talking a walk/trying to go to sleep/eating breakfast and suddenly all these ancients are around you]]

Ma'sir hissed viciously at Krampus as he insulted her, the scales on her body rattling with aggression, before she slunk away to 'hide' rather unsuccessfully behind her rider. Alain tensed up as his mother took his shoulders and strained to not glare at her too, his jaw stiffly set and a nerve twitching in it. 'I don't care who we meet.' He said, trying to keep his voice level and not angry. 'I suppose we can meet the Varezians first then.' He added, glancing away from her to curiously examine the large black dragon that had landed before him. 'Twine will get into my hair and will be a pain to claw out.' He growled in response to his 'father'. Ancients, did he hate that man. 'And it's not 'edgy' it's practical. It doesn't get frizzy nor in my face when I need to fight or actually see my opponent.' He continued, feeling particularly irritable today from nerves. He pulled away from his mother. 'Let's get this over and done with.' He snapped, already striding towards the varezians and the new addition of the Roewenian king- good, two birds with one stone. Tabir rolled his eyes. He didn't see the point of getting upset at Alain's continued moanyness, so he just stalked in the other direction -- knowing his face paint would be in his rooms by now and he could shave another couple of years off if he got some crystaline powder from Mila when she came. Valare caught up with her son. "Don't worry the Varezian's will be nice to you -- they like men," she said, grabbing her son's arm and rubbing his shoulder affectionately before separating when they met up with the rest of the monarchs. She decided to address Aiden and Katherine first. For all of Aiden's irritating vulgarity, and Katherine's infuriating kindness, at least they weren't bloody children. "Your majesties," she said, dipping her head to the King and Queen of Varezi. "How good it is to see you, congratulations on the wedding I am so sorry I could not attend. This, this is my son -- Prince Alain Wulfblood of Zale'mas. My heir. Now, has anyone seen Queen Mila--" She was interrupted by the sound of horrendous flapping, sending a gust of wind everywhere all over them. A few shards of something fell off of the creature, and suddenly Valare felt hot as if her skin was being irritated. That could only mean one thing -- Kalamine was above them. But Mila would never ride Kalamine so violently. Soon, she found the answer, as the dragon landed and a girl slipped off. Valare wouldn't have been disturbed, if little Princess Caristonia had not been wearing the crystaline crown of her Kingdom, reserved only for her mother -- the Queen. "Apologies," the girl said, smoothing back her hair, the red streak clearly highlighting it was the youngest of Mila's 6 children -- the little Iona, as her father used to call her. "Unfortunately, I didn't master the art of dragon flying before my mother passed." "P-Passed? Wh- how? Who?!" Valare demanded, fury firing up her purple eyes into a storm. But Iona was calm, and ridiculously serene for a mere child of twelve. "A pack of feral wolves. They were large in numbers -- they've been executed now," Iona said. "My...my mother was not the only one to pass. My father, all five of my siblings, my grandparents, two uncles and my aunts...they had all gone out hunting. Said I was too young to come. Now, I am the only one left to lead. So I am doing so, Valare." Her fury, grief and shock over the deaths of her friends boiled into a frenzy. "There is no way I'm letting a child lead the Crystal Isles!" She snapped "Kaisir getting the crown at that age was bad enough, but you're too young to even marry!"

Alain picked at his nails as he rode upon Ma'sir, waiting for them to reach the kingsmeet. He'd profoundly refused to ride with his mother, wanting to test out Ma'sir's stamina and also distance himself from his mother, wanting some independence in his life. He straightened as it came intoview and pushed aside any fear. 'Down, Ma'sir. And be kind.' Kind, Alain? You ask too much of me. the dragoness responded, spiralling down to the ground. She landed heavily nearby Krampus, as though uncaring of her grace, and shook herself down. Alain climbed down from her back and tightened the ribbon that held his dreadlocks in a bun, glaring around at the dragons and people there, taking in what was happening and trying to decipher who was who. Krampus slid his purple-orifice eyes over to Ma’sir. The bratt had never been his favourite, but no, she got to be a royal dragon because she was a ~*shining dragon*~ . Puffed up piece of an arrogant sh*t stain trying to pretend it’s a work of art, Krampus thought to himself, flicking his tail towards Ma’sir to show her exactly what he thought before stalking off in the opposite direction. “Oh behave you grumpy old lizard,” Valare snapped towards her dragon, both of them knowing she wasn’t really chastising him – she let him have his little tempers, as long as he didn’t hurt Ma’sir. But Krampus was the least of her worries now – the real shining beauty had arrived. Valare rushed forward, smiling as she went, “look at you,” she beamed, putting her hands on his shoulders and standing up tall with her pride. When she’d been expecting, she would have given anything for a girl to secure her linage but now she couldn’t be prouder of her son, and quietly, she maintained he’d be a perfect monarch after her, despite his unfortunate gender. “Now, what do you want to do first? I know the Varizi King’s arrived with his knew…ehm….bride. We could go meet them, or wait for Mila? It’s up to you my darling. And your ribbon is looking perfect by the way.” Tabir glanced over, squinting slightly. “Perfect’s a bit far-fetched. Perhaps fetching. But you know, twine would give you a very rustic kind of look that would suit your kind of…edgy, hair.”

"Fire and thunder," Valare said, looking up at the sky where the black cloud of a dragon circled round and round. She’d always enjoyed the sight of Ladon -- powerful, rippling and covered in black. But she wasn't particularly fond of it's Vazari riders. Too brash, too insulting sometimes.
“Fire and thunder?” Krampus asked, the grating sound of bone against bone marking his moving neck.
“Fire and thunder – sounds dramatic. A good way to kill someone I’d bet.”
“You looking to replace me?” the dragon grumbled, rather malcontent than cross.
Valare scoffed, finding his remark almost humorous. “After the time I spent trying to bond with you?”
The dragon only leaned back down, into a state of rest. Krampus was an old thing, and while he didn’t need to sleep, Valare was sure some part of him longed for eternal slumber again – even if he would never admit it. Besides, it gave her a chance to formulate her own thoughts. One glance up at the sky and she was reminded of the recent events. Wonder how she’s enjoying being Aiden’s wife, The Zale’ish queen thought to herself, finding it almost funny the thought of that fiery little Vizari King marrying the smooth soul of Oceana. Well – she’d find out soon enough what happened to them. The Kingsmeet was always an interesting time.
She could just about see every dragon – the blue water dragon belonging to Queen Inai, the white scaled Roewish dragon, now belonging to that infant-king Kaiser, that…thing that Daniel rode and Tide and Cyril….
Where’s Kalamine? The Queen of the Crystal Isles – Mila, was an old friend of hers. They visited each other outside the Kingsmeet, and had even grown up together. Valare knew that Mila was never, ever, late. Something’s not right, she realized, but was distracted from the subject by the sound of someone complaining over the transportation of clothing. Most people might have expected that was a princess or some young noblewomen. Unfortunately, the truth was much worse…for Valare. “By the ancients if any of you drop them I’ll have your heads. Those shoes are genuine dragon-harvested crystals. And, they’re the new fashion so be careful with my luggage!” Tabir demanded, crossing his arms as the guardsmen rolled their eyes and dragged the bags in further. Valare rolled her eyes. “Please for the love of beastia don’t come downstairs dressed as ‘Samara Roux’ again,” she said, knowing her husband had a penchant for taking on women’s persona’s. She’d learned to tolerate it. Took her a good decade, but she’d learnt. However, she wouldn’t be embarrassed at a Kingsmeet…again. Not with someone so important here this time.
“I gave up on beastia’s love a long time ago Vala, and don’t pretend like you care what I do anymore,” Tabir said. He wasn’t affectionate, but their marriage was not the most passionate either. Still, they had their moments. That was enough to keep both of them loyal, and both of them together. “I don’t…but he does,” she said, looking up to the sky – waiting for Ma’sir…waiting for Alain. She could have all of Zale’mas destroyed and if she still had her son she’d be happy. Of course, a teenager was bound to take her time, so she didn’t fret, but still, she couldn’t wait to have him by her side – proudly showing him off to the other royalty. Her best accomplishment.
“Come on darling,” she murmured to herself, “Mummy’s waiting.”

There was something so strange, so real, so warming, about the way Margaret grasped Marion's hands and the kindness in which she looked at her. There was something like recognition in Margaret's eyes in that moment, which Marion found incredibly comforting. It felt warm and familiar. "You would really do that for me, Your Majesty?" Marion asked, swallowing "Thank you so much. I appreciate it - it's a very kind gesture. I'll do what you want me to do, then, and neither of us will speak another word on the matter until we either succeed or fail" "Of course. I don't have many who would be kind enough to share my views. Besides, you could have run away with the secret of the child inside of me but yet you didn't -- I am...grateful, for that," The Scottish Queen said, maintaining her look of happiness for her newfound friendship with Marion. Together, the two women could stop England from falling to the ungodliness of her brother's desires. The sun was now almost completely set and the night would soon be upon them. Margaret knew that while the palace grounds were uncommonly thieved, they sometimes held place for some...unsavory behavior involving Lords and young girls...and sometimes, god forbid, young boys. "Meet me tomorrow after mass, round the back of the chapel. Make some excuse to get away from Catherine. I'll have a more solid plan by then," she said, and sped back to her rooms in the palace.

(OMG sorry I missed your reply) "Honestly, I still have not told you because I do not know what it is that I actually want. I want my parents to be happy but there's nothing you can do to help with that. The only way they'll be happy is when they hear I'm married and I don't intend to do that until after the prince is married. I don't know, your majesty" Marion admitted with a sigh "I'm really sorry, truly I am" She had no idea what she wanted, absolutely no idea. She had spent so long trying to be what others wanted her to be that she hadn't even considered taking the time to work out what it was she wanted. She probably should have, but she wasn't sure she cared. She didn't think Margaret could provide what Marion wanted even if Marion actually knew what it was she wanted, so what was the point? Why even bother trying when you knew nobody would be able to give you what you want? Marion had never seen any point in it. [[Hah totally okay no problem xD. I do that all the time to Bloodrose on her rp.]] Margaret smiled. She saw a lot of herself in the young girl -- an ambitious, personable young thing. But still she was undercut by that yearning desire to please her family. Margaret had the same desire, it was why she'd gotten married so young -- only fourteen -- to a man of thirty years. Now she was almost twenty -- just a few steps away from true womanhood. She knew how it felt to be so young and so focused on one thing...parental approval. "My dear," she said, grasping her hands around hers and showing a kindness in her eyes she wish she'd seen at that age. "Perhaps what I could do is find you a husband -- someone young, and handsome. With a very good title. But someone who will let you go about your business, as long as you let him go about his. Your parents would be very very pleased -- as would his, because there are many young lords who desire to please their parents too."

it's short for bookmark. I marked it because it looks interesting and I am considering joining but am not sure. [[Ohhhh gotcha. Sorry I'm really slow on picking things up. But thank you for your interest and any questions (like any, even if it seems like a dumb or insignificant question) just ask. I'm always happy to create new characters for new scenarios as well, to compliment your characters. Even if you decide not to join, thank you for the interest. ]]
