That Russetfur was Rowanstar's half-aunt. Are there any family relations that you were surprised to learn?

On the same angle, Rowanstar and Brokenstar are cousins
Redtail is Tigerstar's uncle
Crowfeather, Darktail, and Gorsepaw are cousins
Onestar and Mudclaw are cousins
Ratscar is Needletail's great uncle
Cinderpelt and Bramblestar are cousins

I was also shocked to learn that Ravenpaw and Dustpelt were littermates

I forgot Lionblaze and Cinderheart had a second litter, so basically Bristlefrost has a crush on someone who actually likes her aunt. (I mean, she and Spotfur are pretty much the same age, but still)

Aren't Longtail and Graystripe half-brothers?

swinThat kind of makes me think of Firestar having a crush on Sandstorm's aunt..that is, if Redtail is still Sandstorm's father. *Ottersplash*They were when Patchpelt was Graystripe's father, but now that he's been removed as his father, probably not? Though, Longtail and Swiftpaw are half-brothers, which I think is pretty cool. Also, Longtail is half-brothers with Ravenpaw, Dustpelt, Frostfur, and Brindleface.

Ashfur and Ferncloud being Sandstorm's half-siblings via Brindleface (even though Redtail's Debt really doesn't back this up).
Graystripe's half-siblings being Sorreltail, Rainwhisker, and Sootfur.
Onestar's older sisters being Ashfoot and Morningflower.
Thrushpelt, Tawnyspots, and Dappletail being littermates. They seemed radically different ages in Bluestar's Prophecy.

On the other hand, a WindClan family that I wasn't shocked about, was Mudclaw and Shrewclaw being related...even though they've never met, they're so much alike, they're both rude, impatient, they seem to act before they think, however, Shrewclaw seems more bratty and immature, whereas Mudclaw is just a jerk, but for good reasons. I still really like them though. Yeah, Windflight's first litter was a bit odd, Tawnyspots was already deputy, but his littermate brother was a new warrior, and his littermate sister was still an apprentice. That's a prodigy right there lol.

Also, yeah that really boggled me. BP has their first appearances, but Goosefeather's Curse (I think) shows their actual birth. Unless there's some time-travelling paradox involved here, I'm not sure which is the mistake. But then again this is a series known for it's wild inconsistencies lmao.

Unless there's some time-travelling paradox involved here, I'm not sure which is the mistake. But then again this is a series known for it's wild inconsistencies lmao. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Mudclaw and Tornear were brothers, but that made me a little surprised, because Webfoot was an elder, and Tornear was still a warrior, despite Webfoot being mentored by Mudclaw. But some cats retire earlier than others, so yeah lol. I do think it's cool that they're brothers though, considering they were on like every patrol together. 9 times out of 10, the WindClan patrol consisted of Mudclaw, Tornear, Webfoot, and sometimes Onewhisker, but most of the time, it was Mudclaw, Tornear, and Webfoot...it was like they had their own little clique or something lol. Lol, there are sooo many time-line inconsistencies, especially in Yellowfang's Secret. Shrewclaw is supposed to be dead, but he's alive again, AND an apprentice, Barkface is also an apprentice, and Mudfur, who became a medicine cat when he was a senior warrior, is suddenly a medicine cat apprentice...does that mean that according to Yellowfang's Secret time-line, Leopardstar doesn't exist? lol Another thing about Goosefeather's Curse, is how Hawkheart is a little medicine cat apprentice, but he also started out as a warrior in all other realities. Then, there's Mudclaw and Tornear in Redtail's Debt, who are like idk three years old and STILL in the nursery? Also, Reedwhisker, the three year old apprentice.

Can't remember which book, but Dustpelt is noted to be super embarrassed by Ravenpaw It was never revealed in a book. The only reason we know they're brothers is from Vicky, and it's also from her where we found out that Dustpelt denied it because he was embarrassed.

Can't remember which book, but Dustpelt is noted to be super embarrassed by Ravenpaw Oh, if they planned on them being brothers in the first book, then I wish there had been something from Dustpelt when everyone believed that Ravenpaw had died. Then again, nothing came from Spiderleg when his littermate Shrewpaw died, so I guess it runs in the family lol. I remember in Battles of the Clans, Dustpaw refers to Ravenpaw as "some apprentice" or something like that..like dude, that's your brother lol

Scourge and Firestar being half brothers It sucks that it was never brought up in the main series. Imagine if Ruby and Princess had been adopted into the same household together, like Ruby's twolegs had adopted her, and a few years later, decided to get another cat, and they adopted Princess, or Socks..since he seemed like the nicer sibling.

Aside from the things from Vicky that were already said, I think there was a scene in Into the Wild where Graystripe calls Dustpelt and Ravenpaw (along with Sandstorm) the "older apprentices", which sort of implies they're of similar or same age. That's all that was mentioned of it in-book, though. Personally I'd like to think they're brothers, but I don't see much in-book support aside from what I just mentioned.

Them being brothers makes more sense than them not being brothers, because if they're not, then that'd be 4 whole separate litters of just one kit per litter being born around the same time.

When I first read Bluestar's Prophecy, I was surprised that Crookedstar and Oakheart were brothers. I didn't really focus on Oakheart that much, until I read Crookedstar's Promise, because I just saw Oakheart as some RiverClan deputy who was killed. However, I was shocked to find out that Nightstar and Clawface were littermates, and that Cinderfur and Stumpytail were littermates, and the sons of Clawface. Also..Yellowfang is the aunt of Cinderfur and Stumpytail. I was also shocked to learn that Runningnose and Brokenstar were foster brothers

In Yellowfang's Secret AND Tigerclaw's Fury, he's shown to be a decent cat - who loves his mate, brother, and clan...and probably didn't deserve the DF. I like that Clawface best because it makes more sense. If he's close to his brother (and protective of him, because Nightstar was always ill), why would he follow Brokenstar?

To make matters even more bizarre, she's not even clan-born herself Exactly. She's a massive hypocrite. I used to be really bothered by these inconsistencies when it came to personalities, but then I realized it made sense. Cats who are among their friends and family will react entirely different to enemies, just like people do in real life, but the difference is that in the real world, we're just polite and/or distant. We don't (usually haha) have straight-up enemies like the Clans do. They're fighting over resources, such as prey and territory and herbs, so their default state of mind toward those outside their Clan is immediately being suspicious and rude, because it could lead to a battle at the drop of a hat, and if someone dies, that has ripple effects on the whole Clan. A perfect example of that is Nightcloud. Whenever we saw her from the eyes of ThC throughout PO3 and OOTS, we presume she's rude and aggressive toward everyone. Why would she have any reason to regard Ivypool, Dovewing, Jayfeather, Lionblaze, or Hollyleaf in a good light, though? They're from an enemy Clan, and as far as WiC is concerned during the Onestar era, all ThC cats are scum (lol that dude seriously needed to take several chill-pills). We see her at her worst through the main arc POV characters' eyes. Amongst her Clanmates -- like we saw in Crowfeather's Trial -- though, she's loved by her Clan and is seen as a strong warrior who cares for others. When they thought she was dead, she was grieved for heavily, and her Clanmates were extremely upset. When she came back, they were overjoyed. I view it the same way for cats we see with wildly different personalities, like Clawface. He's an entirely different cat when he's surrounded by his loved ones, opposed to enemies. I think we're just used to the outliers being nice to everyone, like Firestar was, you know? He set the bar pretty high, but he was an anomaly and treated other cats, no matter their background, equally unless they gave him reason to be hostile (i.e. Clawface, Brokenstar's rogues, etc.) He gave cats lots of chances (i.e. Tigerstar), which isn't the case for others. Others are not nearly as forgiving. ...Though this still doesn't excuse Russetfur's behavior when it came to Berrynose and her talk about outsiders. Smh. I think this is the best defense for those like Clawface or Nightcloud.

MayflowerThat's a REALLY good point. It seems to be shown the most in ShadowClan. Like Tigerheart, even HARESTAR is annoyed by his crap, but he seems pretty well-liked by his own clanmates, and he seems very kind to them too. Same with Cedarstar and Stonetooth, both are total jerks outside of ShadowClan, but towards other ShadowClan cats? Completely nice guys.
