Stormfrost ;; Thicket ;; Mothflight ;; brambleflight ;;
Stepping forward, Stormfrost pressed his muzzle reassuringly against his clanmates flank. It wasn't often that Stormfrost acted soft, but the disaster had shaken everyone's being. He could Foxpounce a few rabbit hops away, looked uncharacteristically dejected, and Stormfrost heaved a sigh. It would be some time before the clan was able to find its feet again, but they were resilient! With Applestar's guidance, they could accomplish anything. The tom straightened up and nodded to her words, despite her sullen tone, there was truth to her words. The journey would be a lot more difficult if kits and queens were involved. Most of the elders were young too - most of them affected by disabilities that couldn't be prevented.
"We will have to try and remain positive I think," he tried to make his tone brighter and more stable, but there was a still waver to his words that spoke loud than anything that he uttered. "If anything, just try and keep ourselves busy. This won't be the end of our clan, that's for sure."

Shysong hadn't heard Applestar calling out to her, instead she was frantically searching the warrior's den for her feather. It had been in her nest last time she saw it. Fire roared into her ears, the voice in her heard screaming above it for her to turn tail and run. No. No, I can't lose this.. She could feel a heaviness on her chest as she continued her searching. She never has felt so distraught in her life, even when her father spoke so cruelly to her. Just as she was about to cry out, she found it. Tucked deep under her nest, she pulled it out. It was grasped firmly in her jaw as she began to make her escape but the fire was already reaching the den. Her eyes grew wide as it lapped at her pelt, sending intense pain throughout her body. She tried to find an exit but it seemed she was surrounded now, smoke now filling her nostrils. Is this how I die? In a fire?! Her eyes watered from the smoke now entering them and she pushed deeper into the camp. She could barely see where she was going though, everything was backwards....Where was everyone? Was she the last one inside? Surely not...Suddenly her back leg gave out, causing her to fall down and cry out. The feather fell down in front of her, the flames now taking it as theirs. No, please Starclan no...I can't lose that, my only...Her mind was suddenly blank, the pain willing her to just close her eyes and sleep. The molly blinked her eyes closed, succumbing to her fate now. Applestar...no...I never told her, where is she? Why can't my eyes open again? I need...to tell her. Applestar! She screamed, not knowing that in her half asleep state she was...actually calling out. "Applestar!! Applestar!"
{Is this short? perhaps ;w; }

With everyone urging her to leave, she took a deep calming breath. It was her only option now, she had to go, there was no time left for them to sit around searching. Whisking her tail over Rabbitspring, she ran back outside the den. In their time inside, the fire had only grown worse in it's attack towards the camp. She could feel the heat throughout her whole body but she kept herself steady. "Rabbitspring, stay by me please..." Her voice came out a bit hoarse as she continued to try and make her way through, time was running out for them and she would have to help lead them further out. Her heart lurched in her chest though as she approached the flames, feeling the sparks send themselves onto her fur. She actually felt hopeful for their own survival until the sparks flew right into her own eyes. A stinging pain was sent through her and she bit down, trying to force down the tears but they came out quickly. "Rabbitspring! Help!" She cried out, shaking her head back and forth as though that would help.
{Am I rushing? perhaps. }

Voidastral Stonehawk couldn't see his sister clearly but soon felt Beetlejaw brush against him and help him to his paws. Trembling, Stonehawk rose and rasped a mew of gratitude to his Clanmate. He then turned to the smoky branches. "We cant leave yet," he mewed deeply, his voice injured. "Rainberry is still there!"

Rabbitspring ;; Escaping Fire ;; Ashenflame ;; ☾ѕησσzє☽ ;;
Ashenflame's small, hoarse voice sounded - just over the sound of the roaring flames. The same emotion that tingled gently through his spine when they had been in the forest, began to soar protectively. "I'm not going anywhere," his mouth spoke beside her ear, and he nudged her shoulder gently with his head to help her move forward. Smoke was filling his lungs and it made his mind feel overwhelmed and confused, his eyes squinted against the intensity of the heat. He could not stop now. He had so many goals he wanted to accomplish in his life, and he would not let this fire be the last of him.
Glancing back, he tried to see if there was anyone left behind - the billowing smoke hung in the air like a thick cloud, so if anyone was inside, there was no way Rabbitspring would be able to see them. With a final nudge to Ashenflame's flank - reminding her he was still by her side - they exited the tunnel. Outside the fire stood over them - as though they were the prey, and it was the warrior. He flinched and flattened his ears to his head, closing his eyes firmly as a gust of wind surged the flames upwards and sent ash and cinders into the air. They felt hot on his pelt; for a moment he feared he would burn. Ashenflame's pained yowl brought him back to earth, and he leaped to her in a heartbeat.
"I'm here! I'm here! Let's go - now!" He would check on her well being when they were no longer standing face-to-face with the flames. Grabbing her scruff in his teeth, he pulled her onward, being as gentle as he could, yet moving quickly and desperately. When they were out of imminent danger, he let go of her scruff and gave her ear an apologetic swipe of his tongue. "We're almost to the thicket, we're okay!" He murmured encouragingly into her ear, unaware of the permanent damage that Ashenflame had received.

Everything was still dark for her but she let Rabbitspring pull her further away. Was she going to be okay? She was unsure but she moved her paws along with the pull on her scruff. She felt like a lost kit for the second time in her life, shame washing over her pelt. She pushed herself closer to him, seeking comfort much like she would in her youth. She wished she didn't go racing in to play hero but at least she still was alive. She felt them slowing down, where were they now? Had they reached safety? "Rabbit...Rabbit..." She breathed, her throat still hurting from the smoke she had inhaled earlier. "Where...are we?" She asked, trying to sniff the air for familiar scents but all she could scent was ash locked into her nose. She willed her eyesight to come back, much like she had all those moons ago, but it didn't return itself to her. Was she...were her eyes gone? She couldn't...Her heart picked up speed as she tried to find Rabbitspring's face. When she finally did, she pressed her nose against his. "I...I can't see..." She felt like passing out, was she going to? Could she even tell if she did?

Rabbitspring ;; Escaping Fire ;; Ashenflame ;; ☾ѕησσzє☽ ;;
Her voice sounded small and panicked, he could see the tension in her muscles and her eyes were wide and yet... distant. He swallowed painfully and hesitated, "W-we're almost to the thicket," he stammered softly, gazing at her with concern setting his eyes ablaze. She moved her head randomly, searchingly, and Rabbitspring leaned forward - letting out an encouraging purr that was barely loud enough to hear over the hiss and crackles of the flames nearby. Her next words shocked him. He stiffened and hesitated, for a moment the bright tom did not know what to say. In his silence, he gave her a soothing lick between her ears, mustering up the words. Ashenflame was someone Rabbitspring had always enjoyed spending his company with - on patrols, eating prey in camp, but something stirred within him now. It was a deep concern, and yet it was a gentle flutter of his heart. For the most part, it was a deep dread of the implication of Ashenflame's words. Had the surge and the cinders damaged her one good eye?
"You'll be fine," he managed, trying to sound optimistic but there was obvious concern. "We'll get to Gingerlily and she'll take care of you. Close your eyes now, let them rest. I'll guide you, I promise." He pressed his nose into the soft fur of her neck in an effort to comfort her. "Let's go, just a bit further." His tone was lighter as an attempt to comfort her but his tense muscles spoke of his unease. He pressed his flank against hers and wrapped his tail over her back before he took slow steps forward. The fire was still raging behind them like a bull, yet Rabbitspring felt like it was far away. Now his greatest concern was his mottled clanmate, who he felt more protective of than his own life.

Coarsepetal
The elder was reluctant at first, feeling she could just make it on her own. But a couple of almost slips and trips, the she-cat finally stopped to take Tamarisksway's side. Coarsepetal was clearly still reluctant though. Her posture was tense, tail low and swaying, or what was left of her tail. It was kind of just boney and old at the point, at least in her opinion it was.
Whiteshell
Whiteshell huffed, coughing once or twice more before she could respond. "Not now, we should've just left when we had a chance for everyone to be out safe." She shook her head in frustration with the clan's choices. She couldn't blame their leader, she wasn't in this alone and Whiteshell had to know that. But still, shouldn't she have been sensible enough to see the signs?
Beetlejaw
The black-pelted tom nodded. "I can go in and get her, but you're in a worse condition than I am. You need to get out of here first, Stonehawk." the warrior could feel his breath being ripped away by the smoke. But still he persisted, if he left with Stonehawk now, he could get some semblance of fresh air before diving back in this nightmare.

VoidastralUsually, Stonehawk would never trust another cat's word on any matter about his last remaining kin. She was too precious, too vital to his existence to be handled by anyone else. Yet he didnt even blink when Beetlejaw offered to go in and get her. Wheezing like an elder, he crawled out of the fiery traps and into a clearer, yet still smoky place.

Foxpounce ;; Thicket ;; Whiteshell ;; Voidastral ;;
The persistent cough of the cream coloured molly concerned Foxpounce. Glancing around, he saw the same breathless cough attacking his clan mates. Blackbird sat nearby, her black ears were flattened to her head and she trembled as a cough racked her lungs; her yellow gaze appeared numb. Fear clenched at his throat, momentarily silencing the tom, and he looked at his paws with a scowl. His claws sheathed and unsheathed, the rhythmic motion eased his heightened emotions. "I wish we didn't have to leave at all," he meowed, "I feel like we've been abandoned." As his gaze shifted upwards towards the sky it was clear what he was talking about. Silverpelt shone brighter than ever - although dark smoke was billowing into it's depths. Were they watching? Or had they truly been abandoned?

Heatherstorm »
Something needed to be done. There was no way Curlybrook could continue on in such an anxious state. Living like that had to be some kind of nightmare, and Heatherstorm knew that dealing with it wasn't that fun, at least not for her. She wanted to accept her sister for who she was and to be there for her, but when Curlybrook was this anxious and on edge about things all the time, Heatherstorm could only do so much and her patience was only so thin.
Pain seared up her leg, hot and sticky with the blood that was now drizzling down from where Curlybrook's claws had made a home in just earlier. Wounds of this nature were rather common for Heatherstorm as she was a warrior that tended to unsheathe her claws more often than not in the face of adversary, but never had she been injured in a way like this. It wasn't the pain of the injury that fueled her annoyance, it was the fact that all of this could have been avoided if Curlybrook could just calm down. Things had been hard for the white molly since Fernfoot's death, but things should have never gotten this extreme. Something should have been done for Curlybrook before she had been allowed to get this bad.
Heatherstorm turned, fur bristling like pine needles against her body. Her tail lashed from side to side, and through the gathering darkness she stared the other molly down with copper eyes. Tension crackled in the air not just from the storm that Heatherstorm had yet to even process in her frustration. "Why can't you just calm down, Curlybrook?" The gray tabby snapped, ears flattening against her cranium. "I've told you over and over again that there's no fox, there's nothing out there that's going to get you. Stop being such a mouse-brained coward and act like a warrior!" As soon as the harsh words slipped off her tongue lightning split the sky and a torrential rainfall began to pour, almost instantly soaking Heatherstorm to her very core. But not even the rain extinguished the growing vexation swirling inside her being. She was angry and had been injured by her own sister's claws - Heatherstorm couldn't find much to be happy about.
And then, just like that, Curlybrook took off like a startled rabbit with a scream ripping through the air.
For a second Heatherstorm almost just stood there to let her sister run off, but that's when everything changed and Heatherstorm was thrown into her own bout of confusion and turmoil.
Cats were yelling through smoke and embers. The words "fire" and "run" rang through Heatherstorm's ears like an ominous mantra. The tabby stood there in confused silence, her mind running through a list of cats that were important to her, cats that she needed to make sure were okay in all this panic. Lochpaw, Leopardpaw, Sorrelroot.
... Curlybrook.
That one name running through her mind sprung the molly into action.
Without another second wasted Heatherstorm rushed forward, ignoring the pain in her back legs as she raced after her sister, hoping it wasn't too late. She would look for her mate and their sons later, but right now she had to get her sister, had to make sure Curlybrook was running into the right direction and away from the fire that Heatherstorm could now see glowing dangerously bright and much too close for comfort.
"Curlybrook! Curlybrook!" The warrior called out as she pushed herself to run faster, hoping and praying to StarClan that everything would be okay.

Batwhisker » The only thing keeping him from succumbing to the worsening pressure within his chest was the need to get Doveheart to safety. Batwhisker didn’t care whether or not he made it, he just wanted the cat he had grown so close to in such a small amount of time to make it out of this alive. He didn’t want to see her get hurt anymore than she already had. They were so close. If Batwhisker could just stay on his paws a few minutes more to get Doveheart to safety then everything would be okay. He would have made his goal and then he could give in to the smoke in his lungs and the stiffness screaming in his muscles. So long as his companion was okay then he would be fine with heading on into StarClan’s territory.
Just as he was about to give in to those thoughts, Doveheart’s voice echoed into the black tomcat’s ears. For a moment there he wasn’t sure if he had registered what she had just said, but given enough thought he was able to figure out the question she had just asked. ”I’m fine,” he rasped, and just as the words slipped off his tongue the tom felt his body give out due to the stress it had been under in the past day. He took a deep breath, his chest tightening but for once he wasn’t met with even more smoke, or at least not as much as there had been.
With the last bit of energy he had the tomcat feebly raised his head. With squinted eyes that burned from smoke exposure he looked around in hopes that he could make something out, but everything looked blurry to him. ”Did we make it?” He asked Doveheart, hoping they had made it to the Thicket. The smoke seemed thinner and there didn’t seem to be any urgency in Doveheart anymore, but in his current state Batwhisker had no idea where they had ended up.

Gingerlily » By now a good amount of the injured cats had been brought out of the medicine cat den to evacuate. Smoke was starting to billow inside, causing Gingerlily’s eyes to water and her chest to tighten as it became harder and harder to breathe. She was able to push through, knowing that she had to make it out or else more cats would suffer. If something happened to her now in this fire then there would be too many injured cats that wouldn’t survive that could have had she been there to help. Koipaw was a skilled apprentice, but she still had a lot to learn and one apprentice could only do so much when it came to a wide variety of injuries and illnesses.
Luckily Ashenflame and Rabbitspring had come in to help some of the injured cats out. Gingerlily could only do so much on her own, and with Antpaw using her as support she was slower than she liked to be in the face of a disaster like this. She could feel the young tom struggling with each step, and Gingerlily was beyond concerned for the apprentice. Even before all the smoke had entered the den Antpaw had been finding it hard to breathe due to all the dust he had inhaled the day prior. Gingerlily was concerned that if he didn’t get into clear air soon that it would be too late for her to do anything about his breathing and he would succumb to a death that was much too early for him.
Between everything else, it was a surprise for the medicine cat to hear Rillwatcher’s voice entering the mass confusion. Squinting through the smoke she caught sight of the tom not too far off. ”I think most everybody is already out,” she called over to the warrior. ”Make sure Fallenfeather is out, then get yourself safe as well.” Between cats rushing in and out to make sure the den was emptied, Gingerlily wasn’t sure where Fallenfeather had ended up. The calico had been able to keep track of most of her patients thus far, but as she made her own way out of the den with Antpaw still at her side, she didn’t think any cat had yet to grab Fallenfeather and help her make her way out of camp just yet.

Fallenfeather
Fallenfeather had just woken up when she saw the fire. She screamed inside her mind and somehow managed to scramble up. She saw the slumped body of Weaselpaw being carried by Bettastrike and she darted our. Fallenfeather had clearly awoken at the wrong time as the fire had consumed most of camp by now. Fallenfeather had seen a fallen log and she jumped over it, landing with a wince of pain. She ignored it and continued to run. Fallenfeather ran into a patch of grass and she collapsed.

[RILLWATCHER]Feathertalon Rillwatcher immediately set to the task of combing through the medicine den for any stragglers. He had to mostly rely on his whiskers now, stretching his neck forward and sweeping his head side to side carefully, for the smoke had rendered his sense of sight and smell almost useless. Black tears streaked down the sides of his nose and tar dripped from his nares. “Fallenfeather?!” the warrior called out, immediately regretting it as the breath of smoke from the effort sent him into a fit of coughing. The air was thick, hardly breathable, and a dull ache began to throb within his skull. Rill crouched low to the ground and cautiously inhaled before trying again, “Fallenfeather! Anyone! Yell out if you can hear me!”
The burning sensation in the tom's eyes, nose, and throat worsened as time passed, however, he ensured that every crevice of the den had been cleared. He found a few tight bundles of herbs, which he stubbornly snatched up into his jaws, but no clanmates. His throat spasmed and tightened as he fought the urge to cough again and crawled along the wall of the den to feel for the exit. As soon as he sensed the opening of the tunnel he broke into a run and tumbled out into the open field. Only then did the waves of dizziness crash into his consciousness. Rillwatcher dropped to his haunches and coughed violently, sending the herbs flying from his mouth. His chest heaved as he gulped hungrily for air and squinted against his blurred vision. The warrior could see the vague shapes of Gingerlily and Antpaw making their way toward the thicket, bathed in a hellish glow. Out of the corner of his eye he realized the source of this glow to be a massive, flickering orange glare that reflected off of the dried vegetation before him with devilish light. He heard the soft roaring and popping of the feasting flames growing louder. Hot air rippled through his coat and sent a shiver of terror through his chest, carrying with it a fresh, motivational burst of energy. He snatched the herbs up from the ground and fled toward his clanmates. The distance was closed easily, for the pair were traveling at a distressingly slow pace. Rill cast the herbs down at Gingerlilly’s front paws. “Healer, we need you to survive, and this one is slowing you down,” he rasped as he blinked in a vain attempt to clear his vision, “The den is empty, but I found these herbs. Please take them and get to safety, for the sake of the clan. I can take Antpaw.”The warrior could not make out the expression on the medicine cat’s face, for he could only see blotches of color knitted into shapes, but he wasn’t going to wait for an answer. He brushed up next to Antpaw so that the young apprentice’s weight shifted to his side. “Quickly!” he begged hoarsely, “Go now!”

Gingerlily » It wasn't easy trying to evacuate with an injured apprentice relying on her. Of course, Gingerlily wasn't about to push Antpaw away and have him fend for himself - that was a death sentence for the apprentice - so she just had to push through. She was determined to get Antpaw to the Thicket, and she was determined to make sure all her patients had made it to safety. The calico also briefly wondered about Koipaw, but if she remembered correctly her apprentice had been with Tamarisksway and others before the fire. Hopefully the group had been able to get out. That would be something Gingerlily would for sure look for once she and Antpaw had made it to safety. Honestly, she would be checking over every cat to make sure they had all made it, and for those who had been injured in any way she would be there to help with her medicinal knowledge and skills.
The fire was only growing stronger, not even the rain able to extinguish its burning rage. Smoke made it hard to see and made it hard to breathe, but determination to make it to the Thicket, to get Antpaw there, kept her going.
Only when she heard Rillwatcher's voice once again did she stop. Gingerlily turned to look at the warrior, noticing the urgency in his stance and in his voice. She looked from him to the herbs and then to Antpaw, the ruddy apprentice still uncharacteristically quiet; it was obvious that just by looking at him he was exhausted, and even between the roar of the fire behind them Gingerlily could hear the apprentice struggling to take in air. She was worried that if he didn't get somewhere he could rest before long that he would collapse and even getting help from another cat wouldn't be enough to get him to move.
Copper eyes looked from warrior, to herbs, and then to apprentice. She didn't want to leave Antpaw, but Rillwatcher had a point. The Clan would need a full fledged medicine cat after this, and they would need herbs more than ever. She was worried for Antpaw, but maybe a warrior taking him to the Thicket would be quicker.
"Thank you, Rillwatcher. If anything happens, you know where I'll be." With that she shuffled Antpaw over to lean him against Rillwatcher and then turned to grab the bundle of herbs the warrior had gathered. Once they were secured in her jaws she gave one more look to warrior and apprentice before rushing off to the safety of the Thicket.

[RILLWATCHER]Feathertalon Rill watched their healer run to safety with a sigh of relief. He glanced over his shoulder to see that the orange, glowing blur had already increased in size. Waves of heat drifted on the wind. The warrior turned to Antpaw and commanded firmly in his ear, “Antpaw, listen. It is time to gather your strength. No matter how much it hurts, you must push past the pain and move as fast as you are able. Our survival depends on it. Understand?”
There was no time to wait for an answer from the injured apprentice. The fire was growing swiftly, and Rill wasn’t even certain how much strength he had left to muster. The burning sensation deep within his chest punished him with a jolt of torment at every breath. He disregarded it completely to focus instead on the young life before him.
“I can bear most of your weight, but you have to do the rest. Let’s move!” Rillwatcher urged.
The warrior was just tall enough to gently bite the back scruff of the young apprentice’s neck to help compel him forward. Although the method made it increasingly difficult for Rill to breath, he knew it may be the only way to expedite their escape. Better yet, if Rill was lucky, perhaps this may even inspire some irritation or anger in the apprentice. Anger had its uses in survival, and of all of the apprentices, Antpaw seemed to be a natural born talent in this technique.
Rillwatcher gradually increased his speed while continuing to brace Antpaw’s weight against his side and support him by the scruff of his neck. All Antpaw had to do was move his legs in sync. The warrior hoped it would be enough to get them to the thicket and save the both of them.

Doveheart ;; Thicket ;; Batwhisker ;; Feathertalon ;;
Doveheart was aware of Batwhisker's proximity. She couldn't help feeling reassured by his presence, even though they were in imminent danger. The smoke was thinner now, but the fire was still roaring nearby the camp. Doveheart scrambled with her front paws to push her nose against Batwhisker's neck. His fur smelled of smoke - or perhaps it was just her nose being filled with the scent? She used what little strength she had to rasp her tongue over his raven-coloured ear reassuringly. She couldn't manage words, but the faintest sound of a purr could be heard since she was close to his ears. Exhaustion and pain filled all of Doveheart's senses. She hadn't the strength to get up and move on, and her leg was feeling more painful than it ever had. Her future looked grim and even she, usually so solemn, felt fearful. I have to make sure Batwhisker is safe... he is only here because of me...
She opened her mouth and let out a faint squeak - her attempt at words - then she let out ragged, exhausted coughs. Her heat thudded and she tried again, this time managing, "We... need to k-keep going," the strain in her words made it evident that she didn't want to move, but her words were true. Roughly, with grunts of pain, Doveheart slowly to reach her paws. Her back leg was tucked gingerly into her side - oozing crimson onto her white leg - and her body looked frail as though it would be knocked over in the next gust of wind. She couldn't muster any more energy to dedicate to words, so she turned her gaze to Batwhisker and cried desperately with her yellow gaze, we have to do this! I can't leave you behind!

She decided to quit that- either way it was someone trying to save her and that was a priority right now. She shifted closer to the smoldered branches and called out, "Over here!"
