(lolo its all good, and I giggled so much while reading this.)
Evanora rolled her eyes. Of course her father would send out a patrol right when things were getting calmed down, and of course it was Val who led this one. Her dislike for that woman never did change, even when they were children. "Is this really necessary Val?" She huffed as she turned to her horse again. She looked at Basil for some reassurance, but was taken back when he seemed to agree with the woman. She rolled her eyes and mounted her horse.
Atlis narrowed his eyes and watched as Basil took charge of the situation. He just could never catch a break. He looked at his mother who was standing with her arm around his shoulder. She had helped him calm down and get a grip on reality, but now that things seemed to be taking another turn, he wasn't sure what to expect.
Eadrid nodded her head, hoping that maybe the king would give them mercy if he could recall the memories of when she taught Basil. She nodded to Olwen and Atlis, letting them know that hey would be safe. She let out a hifgh pitched whistle to alert the large flying thing over head to follow them from a distance. "Don't worry. We will not be harmed." Her eyes had an odd surety about them, yet they were calming.

(Haha that's good! I wanted to do something a bit morr lighthearted. Also I believe you tripled posted.)
The captain guard glanced back towards the princess. "Yes it is, Princess Evanora. One of the stablehands saw some suspicious activity by the stables. I now assume it was you, but we can never be too safe." Bazil watched the woman for a moment. So they weren't being as careful as they had thought and now they would be dealing with their father. The thought bothered the prince. They had lied to his father. He had lied to his father. The king was a good man and wouldn't lash out at any of them. But Bazil also knew the king wouldn't be happy. He could find a way to talk them out of the situation, even if it meant he could get the brunt of whatever scolding the man would give. As Evanora got on her horse, Bazil mounted his own steed. He glanced back at Atlis, giving him a sympathetic look before turning his attention back towards Val.
Olwen noticed the way some of the guards eyed her. They were suspicious and distrusting of her. Of course they were right in doing so, she was quite dangerous. She watched as Val and the Zettan royals began to head back towards the castle and ended up taking the rear of the group. She took a quick glance at Eadrid and Atlis for a moment. No matter what would happen next, she would protect them. Her attention was pulled away for a moment as Eadrid spoke. The words were comforting and she felt safe. Olwen smiled lightly, glad to be with Eadrid and Atlis as they headed back to face whatever fate was held for them.
The journey back to the palance didn't take long. Bazil had kept an eye on everyone as they were lead to the entrance. He and his sister's horses were taken to the stables as they were lead inside. He already thought of things to tell his father, hoping it would make the situation easier. He was worried. He took another glance towards the Virelith royals and assassian. He knew it would be diffcult explaining the situation. The prince sighed and swallowed hard, not knowing what to expect next.

(Sorry for disappearing. I just now got my good computer back from my boyfriend.)
atlis walked closely behind his mother, Olwen, Evanora, and Basil leading the way. Eadrid kept an eye on Olwen, knowing that every instinct of hers but be telling her to fight and run, yet she stayed. Eadrid squeezed Atlis hand and glanced at him, her eyes sending a message only few could catch. Everything was going to be alright. They had made it this far, and the king wouldnt send them home, not if there was imminent danger. As they came upon the castle, Eadrid noticed the groups pace slow, It was early enough in the morning now that the king would have finished his breakfast and would have some down time.
Atlis remained quiet and followed the leaders of the group. As they neared the castle, he pushed his way up to Basil and Evanora. Grabbing his arm, he whispered in his ear. "What should we expect from your father?" His voice was laced with worry and peppered with tiredness.
King Sybil let out a loud yawn as he made his way through the halls. Breakfast was quiet, seeing that Basil and Evanora hadnt showed up. He didn't think much of it seeing that they had a guest with them, the Prince from a different kingdom. He sighed and paused at a large window, over looking the vast rolling hills and forests. Today was going to be a good day, or so he planned. Running footsteps grabbed his attention as a guard came bellowing down the hall. The young boys eyes were wide and his hair wild from running. "Your Majesty!" He huffed, holding his sword to his side. "We have prisoners on there way! They were caught tresspassing!" He held his head high as though he was proud to relay the news. The king drew in a deep slow breath. "Very well, bring them to me in the throne room."

(No worries!)
As they paused in front of the castle entrance, Bazil felt someone grab his arm. He glanced back and saw it was Atlis, his grip tight with worry. Following that came a concerned question. Of course he would be worried about the king. The half-elf could hardly blame him for having concerns about his father. Bazil offered a comforting smile.
"Everything will be fine," he encouraged. I can probably talk my way out of this, he thought hopefully. Before he could say anything else, Val turned towards the group and saw Atlis. She removed his hand from Bazil's arm, glaring at the other prince.
"You will not touch Prince Bazil or harm him in any way. Understand that?" She asked, her voice threatening. Before the half-elf could say anything, Olwen stepped forward with her hands on her swords. The guard turned her attention towards the woman and walked towards her, only stopping when they were mere inches from each other.
"I'd be careful if I were you, girl. You're already on thin ice with me and you don't want it to break." Olwen glared back coldly, but didn't say anything. After a moment, she stepped back and removed her hands from her weapons. Val gave a small nod before directing the guards around. They formed a ring around Atlis, his mother, and his assassian friend. Val singled for Evanora and the prince to take the head while she lead the way to his father. Bazil breathed deeply, preparing himself for whatever would come next.
Olwen was quite tired. After traveling almost nonstop for the past few days, all she wanted to do was rest. Unfortunately now wasn't the time for that. They were about to see the king. Although she would never admit to it and it would be near-impossible for anyone to see, she was a bit frightened with how King Sybil would handle knowing her true nature. Death was certainly a risk, especially if the rumors of his protectiveness of his children were true. For the time being, the young woman pushed the thoughts from her head and focused on Eadrid and Atlis. She had to make sure they were protected. That they would be okay. She shifted her attention to the guards around. Bazil and Evanora were in the front with the guard known as Val leading away. Other guards surrounded the three outsiders, which was hardly surprising. As they headed to wherever the king was, the assassian noticed people eyeing her from time to time. It wasn't surprising.

Atlis Glared at Val as she threatened him. Disbelief filled his mind, his eyes flashing in green anger. "Who do yo-" He was cut off when Olwen jumped to his defense. His chest tightened when she nearly pulled her sword on the other kingdoms guard. He stepped back and kept quiet.
Evanora stopped and glared at the group. "Oh stuff it." She growled at the beastly-lady. The hatred for Val flared when she watched her threaten Atlis, and then nearly pull her swords on Olwen. Without thinking, Evanora stepped between Val and Olwen. She put her hand on Vals chest and pushed her backward. "This is unnecessary." She spat, her eyes like fire. She looked to Basil and pleaded for help.
Eadrid held her breath and decided not to metal. She could use her powers again, but since they were now in the Castle and the King was surely on his way, the thought of her getting caught with her magic could be punishable by death. Hoping things would calm down, she stayed quiet.
King Salem could hear voices now at the end of the hallway, voices that sounded tense with anger. Coming around the corner, he could see Val, Evanora, Atlis, and now two new people. His voice boomed. "What is the problem here." It was more of a statement rather than a question. Disappointment seeped off him, filling the air.

Val quietly sighed as Evanora snapped at her. Bazil felt a pang of sympathy for Val. Sure, she was hardly the kindest woman, but she also cared for them. Perhaps the half-elf prince had a different view of the guard as he had seen a softer side to her from time to time. Evanora likely hadn't seen much of that side to the captain. The prince glanced at Olwen, who was staring dumbfounded at the princess. Mere hours ago no one wanted nothing to do with the assassian. Now his sister was trying to protect her in a way. It was clear the ivory-skinned woman found it odd, but she didn't voice anything. When Evanora put her hands on the guard, Bazil stepped in.
"Alright, that's enough both of you. Val, please treat Atlis, Eadrid, and Olwen with respect. They mean us no harm. In fact they're our friends. Evanora, please don't provoke Val." The guard glanced at the half-elf for a moment and gave a small no before taking the head of the group. Bazil, meanwhile, gazed at his sisters hoping he wasn't too harsh with her. The group continued through the castle, being lead to the throne room where his father would be waiting. The prince didn't know how thing would work out with King Sybil, however he knew everything would turn out fine. Hopefully.
The assassin didn't say anything when the Zettan princess helped her. She had gone so far as to get physical with Val the guard. The woman didn't dwell on it, fully aware of the other problems they had currently at hand. The main issue was the king. Olwen's interaction with the king had been very brief. However she still feared that he would realize what she truly was and how the three royals had lied to her. Of course if he didn't realize what she was, someone would tell him. From there, there was no telling what would happen to her. Then of course she had to worry about Atlis and Eadrid. What would happen to them? Surely they would at least be safe. They had Bazil and Evanora to vouch for them. The group eventually entered the throne room where King Sybil was waiting for them. His disapprovment was obvious, tension filling the air. Bazil stepped forward confidently.
"I'm sorry father. Things have gotten a bit...complicated. As you know, Atlis was on the run from his family. He came here looking for help and we took him in. His disappearance didn't go unnoticed. As assassian, Olwen, was sent to bring him back." The prince paused and gestered to Olwen. The woman stood tall and kept her ground. She was not one to cower, even if she was scared. "I guess along the way she came across Eadrid. Remeber herm My teacher for a few months. Well, she's also Atlis' mother and the former queen of Virelith. She was going to bring him to her, but we didn't know. So we followed them and the guards found us and here we are now." The half-elf paused again, giving his father a chance to react.

Evanora squinted her eyes at her brother and took a step back. Letting out a loud huff to let him know she was irritated, she crossed her arms. Her fathers loud booming voice snapped her attention back onto the more important things. She looked down at the ground and stepped behind her brother. There was no need for her to open her mouth at this moment. She watched Val out of the corner of her eye. Although the Captain had been more of a mother to the young Prince and Princess, her dislike and contempt for her didn't waver.
King Sybil eyed Basil as he spoke, once again, for the group of people. "Son. Why are you always the spokes person in times like these?" His eyes drifted from Basil, resting on Evanora for a second, then Val, and lastly to Atlis and the rest. Unhappiness clouded his eyes. As he listened to the rest of his sons explanation, his gaze drifted back to Eadrid. A bitter taste filled his mouth, making him swallow hard. Basils teacher for magic... he thought to himself. He looked over her, slowly, taking in her every feature. Her hair was short, wavy, looked as though she hadnt washed it in days yet somehow still fell around her face with such grace it nearly took the kings breath away. Her eyes were like little green lights, shining brightly. She probably hasn't had a decent meal in days... He shook his head. "Eadrid." He said quietly, looking away. "It seems to me you had everything under control?" He turned his gaze to Olwen as though his question was directed to her.
(So i was thinking, maybe King Sybil and Eadrid had like... a 'forbidden first love' type of thing before she married the Varileth king???)

Before he replied, Bazil stepped to the side to cover his sister more. "Well as your heir, I believe taking charge in situations like these is important. It helps me learn how to be diplomatic and relay information professionally." Part of that was true. He believed speaking for the group would prove to be useful later in life. Another part was wanting to protect them all; Evanora, Atlis, Eadrid, and even the assassian. He didn't want any of them to face his father. He could be quite the intimidating man depending on who they were.
As the half-elf dealt with the king, Olwen could see the man's gaze flicker toward her from time to time. Of course he did, Bazil outed her as an assassian, though it wasn't like she could blame him. He didn't need to hide anything else from the man. Besides her, the Zettan king would occasionally look at Eadrid. It made sense considering the things Bazil just explained. Finally King Sybil spoke up once more. He kept his gaze on the assassian, though referred to Eadrid. Olwen fought back the instinct to narrow her eyes at the king. It would only make the situation worse. Instead she continued to hold her ground, keeping her hands respectfully at her side. Her blue gaze only wavered when Bazil spoke up again.
"Father, I'm concerned for Atlis. They sent one assassian after him, though she didn't know what their true intentions were by bringing him back. I believe he may be in danger and if I may be so bold, I think we need to provide him with protection. Both of them...er maybe all three of them." It was clear Olwen was an after thought. She always was, so it didn't affect her.

Atlis shifted uncomfortably when Basil voiced his concern about him, though was saddened that he outed Olwen so easily about being an assassin. He adjusted his grip on the backpack that still sat on his back. Although it was nearly empty, it still weighed enough to irritate his shoulders some. He watched uncomfortably as King Sybil eyed his mother. He glanced over at Eadrid and saw that she had remained to keep her eyes on the ground. An odd feeling flashed through Atlis. Jealousy? Why? Atlis looked away, catching the eyes of Evanora. He offered his crooked smiled for comfort, seeing that she was visibly upset and uncomfortable.
Evanora looked gratefully at Atlis. She side stepped closer to him and grabbed his hand. "We wont give up on you yet." She whispered in his ear, pressing her shoulder against his. She had grown strangly attached to him the last few days. She wasnt sure if it was a motherly sense of needing to protect him, or something else, either way, she did not conceal her concern for the young foreign prince at all.
Eadrid felt her face grow hot under the gaze of the king. She was proud that Basil had taken control of the situation, after all, he was heir of the throne, and seeing how he handled situations such as these was no doubt great practice for him. She nodded her head as he spoke, but froze when he voiced his concern for her son. "Olwen was sent to retrieve Atlis and bring him back to the kingdom to be slaughtered like an outcast." The words left her mouth harsher than she intended, but was pleased that she could get her point across. "I know my husband." Her last words were filled with sadness and regret. She turned her green eyes back up to King Sybil, pleading for his mercy in this situation.
King sybil nodded. "You are right son. You have spoken nothing but truth thus far, but I cannot just let this go with out more consideration." He spoke pointly, not fatherlike, but more as a teacher who was disappointed with how the pupil had perceived the lesson. He waited for Basil to finish his concern about Atlis. Nodding his head, the king looked back at Olwen once again. "It seems like other plans were in order before Eadrid found you." He locked his eyes on Olwen, willing her gaze to stay with his. "Regardless-" He suddenly boomed, causing the group to flinch, "We shall continue this in a more proper manner." He turned to Val. "Bring them into the throne room for a proper hearing please." Without another word, the king walked past th group towards the kitchen. As he stepped by eadrid, he whispered something in her ear. "A hungry soul I see, not only for food but for love and peace." His whispered cracked through the air with an odd lightning, causing the hairs on eadrids arms to stand.

(So this is what i was thinking- Eadrid and King Sybil can have this forbidden first love type of thing, and thats why Evanoras mother doesnt normally come around, because she knew about Eadrid and the king before their arranged marriage?? And then later on when they somehow reunite with Atlis father, Eadrid can confront him and leave him?? Maybe Basils mother can pass away and Eadrid marry King Sybil?? Idk just some thoughts. What are your ideas?)

From the corner of his eye, the half-elf watched Evanora join Atlis on an attempt to comfort him. His sister was always so caring and kind. If anyone could cheer up the redheaded prince, it would be her. His attention shifted to his former teacher as she explained her son's situation. His gaze drifted to Olwen as the former queen spoke. The assassian visibly shrank back slightly, clearly bothered by Eadrid's choice of words. Bazil stepped forward slightly as his father addressed him once more.
"Of course not, father," Bazil replied with a sigh. He felt guilty about everything he had done. Lying to the man, going behind his back, and even harboring an assassian. Though that seemed to be more complicated than he originally thought. Without saying another word, he glanced at Olwen as his father spoke to her. The woman stood her ground. It looked like she wanted to say something, but thought it better to wait. His father was right, it would be better to discuss it in the relative privacy of the throne room. The half-elf signled for Val to lead the way to the throne room. She gave a curt nod before turning and heading down the hall.
Olwen Was the last to go, taking the rear of the group. Or at least what the closest thing to the end. The guards around were still suspicious and rightfully so. She was still an assassian. As they were lead to the room, she noticed King Sybil and Eadrid hold back. The king approched the woman and whispered something to her that made the former queen tense. Olwen was forced to fight the instinct to protect Eadrid. She rather disliked the king and was suspicious of him like he was with her. She would have to figure out ways to defy authority without getting herself killed. It would be diffcult, but she would fond a way.
(I like that idea. It could explain why Evanora's mother might not be around often. She knew/realizes that she had to have Evanora for the sake of the marriage/politics. Actually, Bazil's mom is back in her homeland. I was thinking that the king and his mother might've had something along the lines of a whirlwind romance of sorts while she was in Zetta for her studies. Bazil was the result, but was sent to live with his father because of scrutiny of the elves. Anyway, I think most everything you said works. Oh also, maybe Eadrid and Sybil planned to get married, but due to harsh tensions between their kingdoms, they were unable to.)

Eadrid looked away from the king only to notice Olwen had been watching the encounter If she had any say in the matter, she would have the kings mouth sewn shut for the sake of her son and her sanity. No one knew about them and she liked it that way, they couldnt ever be together anyway, so she saw no point in gloifying what could never be. Her heart ached nonetheless. It had been so long since anyone had shown her affection. Her failed marriage and loss of children pulled at her heart, taunting tears filled her eyes. She looked down again.
Atlis began walking towards the throne room. He had been there once before with Basil and Evanora, so this was nothing new to him. He had also been the outsider before, he would be the outsider again. It was time to get things put together. He had let his feelings get the best of him the past few days and that needed to stop. It was time to be the prince his mother and father raised him to be. He lifted his head and puffed out his chest.
The king stopped by the kitchen before adressing the group in the throne room. "I would like you guys to make some food for the travelers." He did not ask, he demanded. Seeing Eadrid so thin and wrung thin made his heart hurt. Basil and Evanora had undoubtly missed dinner seeing they were playing hide and seek with Atlis and Olwen. He paused and pursed his lips. Olwen had been in the castle before... but asking for a job. That would have to be addressed later. The king nodded to the cooks and turned away.

Olwen continued to eye the king for a moment, her gaze slowly shifting towards Eadrid. She worried for the woman, but didn't voice her concerns. There were too many people around. People she didn't know or trust. The assassian turned her attention back ahead. Val, Bazil, and the other guards lead the way again at the king's request. As they walked through the grand halls, her attention briefly shifted to Arlis. The prince was still uneasy, though it seemed he had gotten better since the forest. That was a good sign. She noticed how he raised his head and puffed out his head in confidence. That was another good sign. The redheaded man was collecting himself. The group was near the throne room soon enough. There was a clear change in Bazil and the guards as they approched. The king right behind them, wordless and unreadable. He had disappeared at some point to do who knows what. Olwen wasn't too concerned. She had other things to occupy her mind at the moment.
Val lead the small group into the throne room. Bazil followed behind and respectfully dipped his head as he passed. The others soon joined in, the guards still surronding the group. His father had been following them, entering soon after. There was an uneasy quiet as the man walked towards the throne, his footsteps echoing through the nearly-empty room. The prince watched his father for a moment. He seemed less angry than he was before. In fact there was almost a sense of worriedness to him. The half-elf frowned. What's the matter with him?
(That's a good idea. Think of the drama. Also thanks! I posted today, because I remembered some homework I had and was too tired to complete. So here this is.)

King Sybil walked silently to the large chair in the middle of the room. Wordlessly he sat and faced the group of followers. He rested his head on his hand and watched them for a moment, keeping his face expressionless. After a few moments, the man cleared his through and looked to the left. "I figured you all might need something to eat" He mouthed, his voice barely above a light moan. After the words drifted from his lips, kitchen staff and servers came through a side door and began setting plates out, one for each of the people in the group, including Val. He took a deep breath and focused on Basil. "If im not mistaken, you and your sister were not present for lunch earlier, and I would assume Olwen and Atlis havent had much to each." His gaze darkened as his eyes fluttered over Eadrid.
Atlis entered the room and clenched his lips lightly as the king sauntered past, his heavy footsteps vibrating the marble floor. The room seemed cold, maybe due to the lack of windows, or maybe because of the iron statues and marbled floor. Either way, the coldness of the room and quietness of the king seemed to ice his spine. He was an outsider now, no longer welcomed into the kingdom so freely. As the king mentioned food, His stomach let out a low growl. He felt his cheeks grow hot in embarrassment.
Evanora stiffeled a laugh at Atlis when his stomach seemed to agree on his hunger after the king spoke. She took his hand and let the group to the table that was being prepared. Regardless of them being punished, she felt at home now. She was used to being looked down on, and being in the throne room, where she and Basil spent most of their time in training, whether it was listening to the king as he would adress kingdom issues, or just typical Royal Etiquette. Other than here she was usually hiding out in her study or out in the gardens.
Eadrid stiffened when she saw how comfortable Evanora seemed to be with the whole situation. The forgotten Queen stood rooted to the spot, waiting for the command to move.

Bazil watched his father for a moment, curious what the man would do. He expected many things. A good scolding, hostility, questions, and even resentment towards Atlis, Eadrid, and Olwen. Not an offer of food. But that is what the king had ordered. On a nearby table, food began to be place for the royals and their guests. The half-elf watched the graceful, quick work of the staff as they stocked up the table. His father speaking to him pulled the prince from the display.
"You would be right in your thoughts, father. I don't think any of us had much to eat since yesterday and I believe discussion over a meal would be a delight." Of course it might make the coming conversation easier too. He knew how cranky his sister could be before a meal and knee it could be the same for most people. The prince turned towards the table and took a seat next to his sister. The others soon joined the table as the staff and servants headed from the room. Val and the few guards she kept around stayed in the throne room. They were ready for any orders or situations that would arise. The prince hoped it wouldn't come to that, but with an assassian in their midst it was hard to predict what could happen.
The king's reaction surprised Olwen. She didn't expect him to be hospitable to three uninvited guests, and yet he just offered them a meal. The white-haired woman waited for Eadrid to take her seat before sitting beside the former queen. She carefully watched the others as they began to eat. She didn't reach for anything, wanting to see everyone take a bite first. It wasn't that she distrusted the food, it all had to do with habits. No, the king wouldn't have poisoned the food he would feed to his children. Probably. But the assassian was rather disciplined. She didn't reach for anything until everyone had their food. As she reached for some bread, the half-elf prince cleared his throat. It had been a few minutes and it was clear he wanted to talk.
"We appreciated the food, father. Thank you. I do believe we have some things to discuss now though, no?" Bazil questioned.

The king rested his hand on his head as the small group took their places around the table and began to eat. He had avoided saying anything at the moment mainly because he was just unsure of what he even wanted to say. Food always seemed to calm peoples nerves, so seeing everyone enjoying their meals lightened the atmosphere more than he could explain. As Basil pressed for more information, King Sybil waved his hand as a means of dismissal. "Lets focus on the food at hand, the interrogation will begin soon enough." He sighed. So many thoughts were going through his head. Basil and Evanora had blatantly disobeyed him, snuck out, and even entertained an enemy assassin in hopes to protect the young Prince Atlis who was running from his tyrant of a father in search of peace for his Kingdom. While out they encountered Eadrid, his first love, the woman who taught Basil most of what he knows about magic. Just her presence in this room made things more difficult for him. If Evanoras mother were to some how find out she was here, things would escalate to a whole new measure, and he was unsure of how he could handle that. So much was suddenly on his plate now that needed attention it was slightly overwhelming.
Atlis, Evanora and Eadrid carefully and quietly began their meals. When Basil addressed the king about the things at hand, Evanora looked around at the people surrounding her. Olwen was visibly uncomfortable, Eadrid was extremely unreadable and Atlis was silent. She shrugged her shoulders and stuffed her face. "You know father, we just did what we thought was right." She said, her eyes not leaving her plate.

The half-elf eyed his father for a moment before giving a small nod. It would be foolish to argue with the king or stir up trouble at that time. Besides, it seemed he had a lot on his mind. And who could blame him? Bazil's father had to deal with three strangers. One a foreign prince, another a queen long believed to be dead, and the last an assassian. Not to mention his children who defied him yet again. The prince continued to eat, carefully watching the others around the table. He could feel the eyes of the guards on them, tense likely due to the assassian.
A blanket of silence had settled over the room. The only noises came from utincles scrapping across plates and the occasional cough or sneeze. Olwen was growing increasingly uncomfortable. It was unnatural sitting there with so many keeping an eye on her. After a few minutes, the Zettan princess spoke up, breaking the quiet. She eyed the girl for a moment. What was she trying to do? Get the conversation going or perhaps she wanted to make the coming discussion easier. The assassian couldn't be entierly sure, but knew better than to say anything.
