Shadowstar Morning provided reprieve to CragClan, for the first time in a matter of days sun shone overhead; not a single cloud marring the blue skies overhead. Having spent the last pawful of days sodden and suffering the persistent rain, today was a nice change of pace few could complain about. Ever the early riser, the dark furred Shadowstar roused from her nest just as dawn was breaking over camp. Pausing at the exit of her den, she shook out her silken coat, sending droplets of water scattering in her wake. Leaping deftly from her tree-top den, she landed with an elegant thump to find camp largely empty of signs of life. Only the chirp of birdsong overhead providing her company for her morning antics. Eliciting a quiet sigh, having hoped her clan might have aimed to make use of the cheerier weather and woken as early as she had, despite this Shadowstar found herself struggling to begrudge her clanmates a sleep in. Whilst not in her nature, clan life didn't offer much in the way of peace too often, and the beautiful shecat harboured no doubts that her clan was generally a hard working one. They deserved to make the most of the quiet, every once in a while. In the meantime, Shadowstar would do her best to make the most of a surprisingly warm morning. Weaving her way through the Camp Quarry, she regarded the fresh kill pile to find that morning had offered more than one surprise. By no means full to the brim, its offerings were reasonably fresh and appetising. For now she resisted the urge to pick out something for herself, the need to do her own part before taking was ingrained. Instead the midnight coated Leader settled herself to the side of camp, taking one of few occasions of privacy to bask in the golden light of morning. Awaiting the arise of her clanmates to get to work.
Lakespirit Curled into a ball so tight she might well have been mistaken for a ball of colourful moss rather than a cat, was Lakespirit. The only movement visible on her slender frame was the twitch of her calico ears and the steady rise and fall of her flanks. She slept peacefully, dreams full of successful hunting, laughter and play. Quite the opposite to the world she knew in waking, one of few respites from the day to day chaos of clan life. But much like most things, it was never meant to last. Woken by the sound of a neighbor shifting in their nest, the sharp scented shecat lifted her head, begrudging the chance to sleep further. Lakespirit curled up once more, desperately trying to catch hold of the lingering memories of her dreams, but finding her efforts fruitless. It seemed catching up on her sleep would have to wait until nightfall. Jaws parting with an almighty yawn, she lifted herself to her paws with a flick of her plumed tail. Lakespirit cast her gaze around the den in search of her culprit, but finding it largely lacking in life. Grumbling quietly to herself, she turned for the exit to camp and pushed through. To find her home lit with a beautiful golden light, a much cheerier sight than the one offered by recent mornings. Notably cheered up by the warmer atmosphere of camp, the shecat looked at the fresh kill pile hopefully, the tantalising scents flooding from it left her mouth watering at the idea of breakfast. Resisting the urge to devour the entirety of the fresh kill pile, the tortoiseshell instead cast her gaze around camp in search of the clan's deputy. Hoping to get her days duties over with early, in order to eat as soon as possible.
Scorchsong Awake even prior to the early riser of Shadowstar, the young warrior known as Scorchsong had been patrolling through the territory. Boredom and restlessness had made sleep evasive for the handsome warrior, and had thus decided to make better use of his time than rolling incessantly in his nest. Particularly given the unkind words muttered in his direction after the third or fourth time he had accidentally awoken one of his fellow warriors. Clamped in his jaws were a pair of plump mice, swinging by the tails, as well as a small shrew carried somewhat awkwardly by the scruff of the neck. A reasonable collection for a solo exertion. Whilst his intention of getting rid of some energy had been successful, to an extent it had been too much so. For now he returned to camp, jaws stuffed with the rewards of his efforts, but body drained almost entirely of any energy he'd left with. The idea of sleep was a tempting one, and he all but discarded his prey on the kill pile in his excitement to return to his nest. Keeping his head down, as though panicked the very scent of the woodland on his coat might give away his presence in camp and make him remain awake for the rest of the day. He weaved through the shadows of camp, a difficult task given the dark shades of his thick coat, he was persistent and determined. If he had to remain in camp, he was half certain his paws would simply give out from beneath him from exhaustion. An exaggeration of course, but not to the exhausted young warrior with sleep and sleep alone on his mind.

Mintgaze | Camp | Tags
Mintgaze climbed downwards into the quarry of camp, with a mouse in her jaws. Only a few moments prior, Scorchsong had arrived to camp, and it seems as if she had just missed running into him. Rocks dug into her pads, but, at this point, her pads had grown thicker and it no longer bothered her. As she reached the fresh-kill pile, the scents of the other prey made her mouth water. She placed her mouse on the pile and, having contributed something herself, felt it was okay for her to take something for herself. Grabbing a day-old, cold hare, and brought a few fox-lengths away to eat.
Junipershade | Camp | Tags
Junipershade had woken up not long ago and was sitting in camp, finishing up his morning grooming. As he gave his flanks the last few licks, he grew tired of waiting for the deputy to organize patrols. Taking matters into his own paws, it only took a few glances around camp for him to notice Shadowstar. He waited a moment to allow himself one more morning yawn before standing up and padding over slowly to his leader. As he approached, he meowed his greeting. "Good morning, Shadowstar." He dipped his head in respectful greeting, flicking his ear as a fly buzzed nearby. "I'm not sure where our deputy is, would it be okay if I took a hunting party out?" He asked, glancing back at the awakening cats. He wasn't one to waste time in the morning, even though he wasn't always the first one awake.
Houndpaw | Camp | Tags Houndpaw was awake early and bright, ready to tackle the day. It was only a few days into his apprenticeship, so his energy and excitement had yet to fade even a little bit, and it showed no signs of stopping. After giving himself a very quick, and not very productive, grooming, His fur still stuck up in places but it seemed as if he didn't even notice at all. His excitement grew into dismay as he wasn't able to find his mentor. Bouncingflame was either asleep or out on a patrol without him. A frown grew on his face as he laid down near the apprentice den. Realization that he'd just have to sit and wait for his mentor killed his mood, and he almost looked pitiful as he laid there and let his gaze follow the other cats moving around camp, carrying on business as usual.

Shadowstar It didn't take long for her privacy to be interrupted, and it was something the dark furred leader was grateful for, never one to enjoy stewing in the quiet of her own thoughts. Looking up as the sound of approaching footsteps met her ears, Shadowstar nodded a greeting to Junipershade as they made their way over. "Good morning," she replied with a polite nod of her head, gaze flicking across camp in search of the deputy, to find that Junipershade's opinion was indeed correct. The cat in question was nowhere to be seen in the confines in camp, but Shadowstar paid little attention to this. The leader had great faith in the cat, and didn't harbour too much concern as to where they might have gotten. "Snoring in his nest, no doubt," she replied, a low chuckle rumbling deep from her chest. "I think that's a good idea, Junipershade," Shadowstar nodded with approval. Parting her lips as she tried to find out whom was awake to be brought with, "I'll come with you, if that's not an inconvenience." She decided, "And we'll see who else is about to bring with us."

Junipershade nodded with a small smile. Shadowstar was a leader he admired greatly, as some leaders weren't as keen to join patrols as she was. Appreciative, he looked around camp to see which cats were awake and seemed to want to go on a patrol. He caught sight of Houndpaw sulking, and Lakespirit seemed to be searching for something to do as well. "Houndpaw looks like he has nothing to do, as well as Lakespirit?" He offered, flicking his tail towards the cats as he mentioned them. "I can fetch them and see if they'll join us." He meowed, before bounding off to Lakespirit. "Hey, Lakespirit. Shadowstar and I can't find the deputy anywhere, so we're organizing a hunting party if you'd like to join." He meowed to the calico she-cat, his paws itching to get going.

Snakeflower » Usually the dilute calico was an early riser. She was typically awake by the time the sun had cast its warm rays over the territory, but for once she had laid up in her nest. Getting up and going hadn’t exactly been on her mind even though it should have been. She had duties as a warrior to tend to and not only that, but she had an apprentice to get up and train as well. Ah, she’d get to that soon. Right now she was enjoying her time in the den snuggled up inside her warm nest.
Snakeflower was just about to doze off again when the faint rustling of movement caught her attention. The dilute calico perked her ears up and lazily pulled her head off her paws. Green eyes turned to the den’s entrance, whiskers twitching in amusement when she registered who it was coming inside the den. ”So the early hunter returns,” she mewed softly, watching Scorchsong as he made his way to his nest. ”You look absolutely exhausted, did a robin wear you out?” She teased warmly.
With a rumbling purr the molly stretched out her limbs, jaws parting to let out a yawn. In her stretching she rolled over onto her back to expose the soft fur of her stomach, yet her eyes remained on Scorchsong with that initial amusement still dancing in her pale green gaze.
[ hope this is alright! I may have to poof soon so any other replies may have to wait ]

Scorchsong Having curled up so promptly he practically blocked out what had been said by his awakening clanmate, for a heartbeat the young tom hoped he might be able to get away with pretending he had already fallen asleep. All but pretending to snore as he burrowed his head deeper into his dark ginger coat, ears pinned flat to his head as he tried to fight through the words of Snakeflower in order to catch up on some sleep. He was generally a kind natured young cat, but exhaustion tugged at his common sense and gentle demeanour, leaving him acting as something that could well have been considered rude for a cat who didn't know him well enough to know there was little ill intent behind his behaviour. But in spite of his fiercest efforts, sleep was like a bird flying just out of reach; tantalising but seemingly impossible to catch now matter how he tried. Sighing softly, the tom lifted his head, a twitch of his ears as he pinpointed whom had spoken to him. Weary and gaze dulled by tiredness, he managed a soft chuckle, a bitter sounding noise. "Hardly," he grumbled with a surprisingly playful tone. "I took on three foxes single handed who were trying to break into camp," he exaggerated playfully. "Didn't get a single scratch on myself, naturally, and then went on to hunt successfully for my clan. All whilst you guys were in here, sleeping the productive hours away whilst I defended my clan from danger." Scorchsong's purr was one of amusement. Kneading his dark furred paws into the nest underfoot, he circled a couple of times, trying to find a comfortable place to settle and sleep away the aches of his joints. "I think I've more than earned a good morning's sleep in."

Snakeflower » Another yawn had Snakeflower parting her jaws wide open. That didn’t stop her from purring, though, as the rumbling noise continued to thrum against her throat. She lay on her back for a moment longer as she listened to Scorchsong recount his morning thus far. Amusement flashed through her yet again as she took in his words. ”Quite a morning you’ve had and here I am still stuck in my nest like some lazy apprentice.” A chuff of laughter slipped from her lips. After laying about a moment longer the molly rolled herself back onto her stomach and pushed herself to her paws. She took a second to shake any loose moss from her pelt before silently making her way over to her fellow warrior’s nest.
”Here,” Snakeflower meowed and took a seat beside Scorchsong. ”You’ve had such a tiring morning. Sounds like you need some cat to help you relax.” A part of Snakeflower was still mildly teasing the other warrior, but for the most part she was being serious with her words. That motherly part of her wanted to make sure Scorchsong got the rest he deserved after going out and providing for his Clan as early as he did, and the poor tomcat did seem rather exhausted. ”Unscathed or not, battling a wild Clan of foxes must be hard. I’m sure you had to battle like a lion out there.” Once the words slipped off her tongue she leaned forward and started to gently groom the tomcat. She would stop if Scorchsong didn’t want her to clean his pelt, but Snakeflower only had good intentions, and besides, it was always relaxing when you didn’t have to worry about cleaning your own pelt.

Scorchsong Grateful to have a companion even half as playful as himself, particularly given the fact his rather unusual sense of humour wasn’t always taken in the best of ways, the ginger tom was admittedly rather enjoying the company of the dilute calico warrior. Leaning down to swipe his tongue across his chest, pulling free a burr from the depths of his thick coat as he did so, spitting it into the dirt beside his nest, discarded. “You really should be using your time more productively,” he scolded playfully, melding his tone into the best impression of his mentor he could manage, sounding more stiff and firm than Scorchsing had likely ever sounded a day in his life. Mildly surprised at the shecats sudden gesture, the last time he’d been groomed by a shecat was likely when he was a kitten, and thus his eyes widened with surprise at her kind efforts. Ears warming until they burned like a raging fire, he hesitated, unsure if how to respond to her gestures, before with fair uncertainty following suit with his actions, awkwardness underlining his movements but he did so with genuine kindness. Stretching up in order to pull free some burrs from a difficult place to reach in her spine, trunk to act as though he wasn’t half as surprised or awkward as he felt..
