I thought it could be Ashfur too from what I got from the spoiler thread before reading the book myself but then there was this scene where Bramblestar stomps through the wood which I find odd since ThunderClan cats don't do this. It is possible that happened because of the possession but a possessor from ThunderClan (like Ashfur) can do better than this. But we also got to keep in mine we've never seen the process of possession in the Warriors series - We don't know any technicalities yet. So it's possible the possessor needs an adjustment period while using Bramblestar's living body, because they're so used to being a spirit. Regardless if they're Thunderclan or not, I'd imagine any possessing spirit to be clumsy at first.

I think it should stick with a darker Starclan cat, rather then an another Dark Forest cat would be boring by this point. Going with the only guidelines of a Tom and Caring for the Code, yet still generally unexpected: Mudclaw, Hawkheart, Ravenwing, Oakstar, Goosefeather, Flametail, Skystar, Rock, etc. Flametail's arc is resolved in OoTS. There's literally no reason to bring him back. Plus the whole "Might kill Tigerheart" thing that was in LS is super OOC for him to do considering the Tawny kits seem really close so...

I can't imagine anyone other than Sol, anyone else imo would be a little far-fetched
Hell, even Sol himself is already pushing it

Considering they made Onestar Darktail's father, despite having no set up, any cat is possible for the voice. Anyway, Flametail did show a darker side when he almost allowed Jayfeather to drown in mud.
