Rushpaw couldnt help but stifle a small chuckle at Russetpaws comment about burning from the heat. "Well just before I joined you, I was changing out the elders nests with fresh bedding. But now that Im done Im free for a while. How bout we go together to the closest pool of water I feel as if my pelt will melt off if im in this heat any longer." As she spoke to the younger tom her yellow eyes watched as her father and the clan leader left the camp with Thistlepaw and Larkpetal. If they left soon they could be back before the patrol returned.

Grousestar rolled his eyes. "I should let Ferngaze know to prepare for some pretty nasty wounds." He got to his paws, excited to finally be on their way. His pelt prickled, and even though he would start shedding like crazy in due time he knew he would have to endure the heat now. Falling onto a less used rabbit tunnel, he took a quick pace as he led the way down the stream to the pond.

"That would be wonderful, living near a stream does has it benefits." Russetpaw meowed giving his front paw a quick lick before dragging it over his ears. "Maybe we can also bring back some soaked moss for drinking or to help keep cool."

( Lycaonia Hey, I just want to point out that in the area that the clan is set there isn't any birch, even in the bordering clan Pineclan. Aspens are there, but not too many birch.

Larkpetal suppressed a sigh as she glanced to Thistlepaw. Grousestar could claim that there wouldn't be any conflict with the beavers, but with the headstrong apprentice around, that would still be a possibility. As quiet as they all were, the crunching of dead grass was a subtle sign of their presence. As they entered the rabbit tunnel, Larkpetal's ears turned back in discomfort. She'd never say anything, especially in front of the leader, but the feeling of ground above her was one that left a pit of dread in her stomach.

(rabbit tunnel as in under the sage, you should see how tall the sage gets around here
Grousestar paused as the exit to the tunnel came in view. With a sigh he lifted himself on his hindpaws and poked his head through the sage. In the harsh sun he could see the bright blinding light that made out the beaver pond, and the little moving dots that showcased the beavers. Dropping down on his paws again he turned around to face the patrol. "Listen up. As long as we don't bother the beavers we should be fine. There's a part of the lake that's shaded, so we'll hunt there." He glanced at Thistlepaw, hoping the kit got the message.

Birchpaw ~ Camp ~ Ferngaze (𝓹𝓪𝓻𝓽𝓵𝔂 𝓬𝓵𝓸𝓾𝓭𝔂 )
Birchpaw hummed happily to herself as she stretched in her nest, claws extending as her spine bent and pulled in the best way. A sigh escaped her as she relaxed, wriggling slightly into the soft moss. She knew that she'd have to get up soon, it was getting later in the day and she had already laid on, listening with one ear as Larkpetal got a thorn removed from her paw. Huffing slightly at leaving her comfortable nest, Birchpaw rolled to her feet and padded towards the entrance. The sound of her mentor's voice made her pause, blinking at the good timing. "I'm here, Ferngaze," She meowed in return, poking her head out, "Do we need to bring anything with us?"

"Sounds good to me. Thistlepaw, you stick with me and together we can show these two up", Creekfall meowed making this hunting patrol into a bit of friendly competition. The main reason however, besides feeding the clan, was to keep an eye upon the rowdy young tom cat. The warrior enjoyed the feisty apprentices company. Thistlepaw reminded Creekfall much of his younger self, and this humored the seasoned tom. Nodding to Gorsestar he patiently waited his turn to exit the sage bush tunnel and begin heading towards the designated fishing spot.

Larkpetal blinked in surprise at Creekfall's suggestion. With all that had been going on, friendly competition and goofing off had been the least on her mind. "Just be careful you two. And Thistlepaw, if you think any action may lead you back to Ferngaze's den for a second time in the day, it's a safe bet not to do it" she quipped. Even with just a very short stint as a medicine cat apprentice, Larkpetal held a friendly fondness towards the other she-cat. Before saying anything else, she glanced back to Grousestar, unsure if he would approve of this at all.

Grousestar nodded, waving for Larkpetal to follow him before following Creekfall and Thistlepaw. Having the apprentice compete like it was a competition seemed like a good way to keep him distracted and away from every trouble. Creekfall seems like a good mentor for the kid, he thought. Though the sudden plague of heat strokes that had taken so many warriors and his own deputy, now that the heat wave had passed he was determined to get the clan back on their paws once again.

Larkpetal followed Grousestar as they made it to the pond. She definitely wasn't anywhere near the best hunter in the clan, but she was ready to do her best, the clan needed this fish after all. She eyed the dam up ahead, seeing a few beavers milling around further up. She nodded silently at Grousestar, taking up a shaded spot and getting herself ready.

Creekfall blinked to his clan leader before paddi g forth to pick out the perfect fishing spot for the apprentice and himself. After quick but careful deliberation he settled on a spot where the water against the shoreline was deeper. Waving with his tail he motioned for Thistlepaw to take his place right next to him. "How are your fishing skills thus far in your training?" The dark tabby tom questioned curiously so he could help Thistlepaw excell on this hunting patrol in the best way possible.

Grousestar turned behind him, turning the rock over to reveal a few worms. He gingerly picked up the end of one with his teeth, padding over to the edge and placing it on a small grass weed that floated on the water. He stood at the edge, his black eyes staring intently at that grassy weed.

"Good idea!" Rushpaw mewed with a curt nod. If questioned by any warrior as to why they left camp they could tell them they were on the errand to fetch water for the queens and elders. "Ready to go?" She questioned rising to her paws looking to Russetpaw with her intense yellow gaze. Hopfully the black shecat didnt faint from the heat on the way there.

He saw the silver flicker of fish, so he carefully pulled back the worm slowly, watching them get closer. "Get ready, clanmates." He whispered. His tail was flicking behind him, and soon he had the fish gathering almost at the shore.

At first Larkpetal was confused at Grousestar's actions, however she then remembered her mentor doing something similar when teaching her how to fish. As the slivers of silver grew closer, the tip of her tail began flicking back and forth in anticipation. She backed herself up enough so that her shadow was out of the water's way and prepared herself to strike. The fish were fairly easy to spot in the sunlight, their scales glittering in the brightness. As one fish came close enough to her spot, she unsheathed her claws and struck, batting the fish out of the water. It flopped about briefly, until Larkpetal pressed down against it with her claws until it went still. Lucky me she thought, watching again in hopes that her next try would reap the same success.

As the fish were drived away from Larkpetal he used that to pick off a fish at the back of the crowd, driving them to Creekfall and Thistlepaw down the bank. As he killed the fish, he hoped that the two toms would be able to drive the fish back to them and continue the cycle until the group was finally driven away. He shook his head, placing the fish carefully on top of some exposed roots.

Noticing the tactic that Grousestar had begun Creekfall didnt hesitate to keep it up. "Watch carefully as I do this, and dont move", he meowed to Thistlepaw as his keen green eyes remained located on the fish headed their way. It was imperative for them to hold still or they would risk scaring off the small school of fish out into deeper waters. As the silvery creatures darted by him the warrior quickly swiped with his front paw into the water claws extended and scooped out a decent sized fish. Keeping the momentum going so the wriggling prey didnt splash back into the water it threw it onto the shore right next to Thistlepaw for the apprentice to catch and kill.

Thistlepaw | with Creekfall, Larkpetal, Grousestar | territory Thistlepaw’s ears perked at the sound of his name, turning to find Creekfall beckoning him. His eyes brightened as he trotted over to the older tom; he quite liked Creekfall and admired him. He was glad to be able to hunt with him. He turned again as Larkpetal addressed him and his excitement was replaced by irration. “I won’t get sent back there,” he meowed indignantly, his tail twitching. “I won’t do anything stupid, I never do.” Thistlepaw was distracted once more by Creekfall turning away and heading for the waterside. The apprentice bounded after him, skidding to a hault as he came to stand by Creekfall. His nose twitched at the warrior’s question and he thought for a moment. “Well, I think I’m a pretty good hunter,” he stated, looking rather confident in his words. “Hunting fish is easy enough.” But he fell silent as Creekfall instructed to watch and listen; his eyes now focused on what the warrior was doing. He tried not to flinch as water splashed him when Creekfall scooped up the fish and put it beside the apprentice. Taking the hint, Thistlepaw flashed out a unsheathed paw to hold the creature down so he could end the hunt. He bent down quickly and killed it, licking his lips as blood hit his tongue. After making sure it was dead, Thistlepaw turned a hopeful stare onto Creekfall. “Was that good?”

Ferngaze | Lycaonia | camp The she-cat was pleased to hear her apprentice reply; she had been worried that Birchpaw was still asleep. “I don’t think so, unless you think otherwise.” Ferngaze tried to make sure that her apprentice was helping make decisions, even with such a simple task as collecting herbs. Birchpaw was proving to be a diligent and intelligent apprentice that she enjoyed teaching. She was Ferngaze’s first permanent apprentice and she hoped she decided to keep working under her.

Russetpaw got to his paws ready to follow Rushpaw to the stream. "Yup." He shook his fur once more, though his fur wasn't as long as other cats in the clan the heat of the sun was still harsh. "I can already hear the cool water calling our names." He chuckled.

Birchpaw ~ Camp ~ Ferngaze (𝓹𝓪𝓻𝓽𝓵𝔂 𝓬𝓵𝓸𝓾𝓭𝔂 )
Birchpaw frowned slightly, mind whirring. "Well," She began hesitantly, "I was thinking at first that maybe we could bring some big leaves in case we need to bring a lot of herbs back, but I suppose we could always pick some while we're out if we really need it. Not to mention it would just give us more to carry if we don't need any." She glanced shyly at Ferngaze, "So I guess, no, I don't think otherwise and I'm ready to go." She self-consciously shook out her coat, padding fully out of the Den.

"You did well. Now", Creekfall meowed nodding to the young tom approvingly before taking a step backwards and motioning with his tail for Thistlepaw to come forwards. "Your turn. Sit here and wait for them to come back our way. When they do come besure to hold your form untill you are ready to strike. And when you aim don't aim for the actual fish aim directly under it. The water bends their forms making it seem like they are somewhere they are not." With that bit of instruction he stilled his jaw and patiently watched the apprentice attempt to fish.

Ryeberry | Female | Heterosexual | Ryeberry is a beautiful young queen, whom has longer dove colored fur. It’s whispy along her body, and she had a very long tail to follow, ending in a feather white tail tip. She has “socks” that go up to her elbows, which are a white color, and the top of her muzzle happens to be the same ivory hue. Ryeberry’s eyes are a soft green, but can pierce the soul. | Ryeberry is very shy around older cats, which tend to be those warriors. She was never really suit for warrior life, and never got into medicine either. She was a motherly soul even when she was Ryepaw, but once she became a warrior she found it better to venture into the nursery. She has declared herself a permanent queen, even when she is not pregnant. She tends to the other kits in the nursery and would protect it with dear life if need be. | N/A? | Kin? | alma | Kix
Lizardsneak | Female | Heterosexual | A gruff looking queen, who doesn’t really appreciate the life in the queens den. She has brown and black fur that mixes together on her back, while her chest, muzzle, and front paws are coated with the ivory color. She had a couple nicks in her ear from previous battles. Her eyes are a dull green in color.| Honestly, Lizardsneak doesn’t like her life in the nursery. She would rather be out hunting and fighting with the clan than being stuck with suckling queens and annoying kits. While she would have a soft spot for her own kin, she doesn’t like hanging around OTHER cats kin. In fact, she likes to sneak onto patrols when others aren’t looking, just to go and be free for once. . | N/A? | Kin? | alma | Kix

Ferngaze | Lycaonia | camp
Ferngaze purred proudly at her apprentice before beckoning her to her side. “Great job,” she praised, touching her nose to the younger cat’s ear. Ever since Birchpaw begged Ferngaze to teach her, the medicine cat had taken on a sort of motherly role to her apprentice. With the feline’s mother gone, Ferngaze felt it as her duty to be that sort of character in Birchpaw’s life.
”Alright, let’s get a move on,” the white-and-tabby molly instructed, turning away and heading for the camp’s exit. “We’ll start by the Dead Oak and make our way to the Starshroom Hollow. We are needing more marigold, mint, butterfly weed, and white sage, but we can collect whatever on our way.”
