Ferngaze | @ anyone | Medicine Den The pale tabby molly watched as Larksong disappeared from her den, her tail swaying idly before she turned away and began putting away the supplies she had taken out. Having a thorn in one's pad wasn't a serious problem until it got infected, so she had made sure to treat it before things turned south. Being the "always prepared" type, Ferngaze would never let a patient, even with a minor injury, leave her den without being thoroughly checked. For one, it kept anything else at bay, but also saved time for the busy she-cat. Ferngaze cherished her time and didn't like wasting it/spending it doing something she could have prevented. Especially with an apprentice like Thistlepaw around, who always seemed to get himself injured. It was only yesterday that he had a close call with an angry copperhead he had "accidentally" provoked. The tom had given her a story that made it seem like the snake's fault, but Ferngaze thought that he had tried messing with it on purpose. The reckless apprentice had been okay, but a harsh scolding from the medicine cat made him seem less enthusiastic to get into more trouble again. Releasing a satisfied sigh, the she-cat exited her herb store after finishing her task and promptly padded out of her den. She blinked at the sun that met her, unused to the brightness after coming from a dark area. Her green gaze traveled around the camp, eventually landing on the fresh-kill pile. Her stomach growled at the sight and, realizing she was hungry, the molly trotted over and retrieved a mouse.

Grousestar looked up, his eyes settling on Larksong in the shade. A prickle of irritation ran down his spine, but he pushed it aside knowing that being annoyed with his clan mates wouldn't do nothing. "New-bud is coming late this season," he confided. "The grouse might not come to the clearing until later, as well as the replenishment of the mostly burrowing prey." Spotting sight of Ferngaze, he sent a quick nod in her direction. With how harsh the sun was new herbs might shrivel under it's gaze, and he knew that this warm weather before it got sickeningly hot was the best time for herb gathering.

Carefully guiding her black paws, claws extended, through a nice fluffy patch of moss Rushpaw finished gathering the last of what she needed for the elders den. The smokey black shecat had been dutifully going about her mentor given task and was excited to be almost done. Quickly pressing the moisture out of the thick ball of moss Rushpaw gathered it all back up and trotted back into camp and straight for the elders den. It only took the shecat a moment to lay out the moss and she was out of there. Exiting the elders den she took a deep breath feeling accomplished after having helped the once epic warriors of Sageclan. Her yellow eyes began to dart around looking for a fellow apprentice to hangout with. Her mentor said that he/she would return and untill he/she did Rushpaw wanted to enjoy herself.

Larkpetalβs eyes widened a bit at the hint of irritation in Grousestarβs voice, but quickly quelled her worries. He had every right to be tense in this situation. Even in the shade, the heat was dominating enough to make her feel somewhat drowsy. She stood up and stretched, forcing herself to stay awake. She remembered with a prick of pain the same lethargy in Kestrelswoop before his death. βIβve never seen heat like this beforeβ she admitted with a sigh βI mean, weβve had heat waves before, and weβve made it through those. The sand grouse come every year, we shouldnβt count them out just yet. What about the stream? I mean, the fish canβt exactly leave the way most prey canβ even if she wasnβt the greatest fisher, Larkpetal would certainly take that practice as well if it allowed her to cool off.

"Are we going fishing?", questioned the steady Creekfall as he padded up to both Larkpetal and Grousestar. He had been walking by when he heard the shecat mention fish. The dark tom always enjoyed a good savory fish and with the weather as hot as it was today the tom was far from objecting to getting wet. Unlike most cats he actually enjoyed water, and could occasionally be found swimming through calm shallow water. Dipping his head respectfully to Grousestar as he halted infront of them he wondered if they were speaking about the heatwave the can was currently enduring.

Russetpaw shifted around in his nest letting out a deep sigh as he watched the entrance of the den noticing that most of his clanmates were already wake. Flicking his tail slowly back and forth along the ground, Russetpaw pondered if he should try to stay he nest a little longer or get up and attend to duties around the camp, he didn't mind waking early as long as he wasn't doing something boring or useless. Russetpaw yawned sitting up giving his pelt a quick wash before padding over to the entrance poking his head out glancing around camp, feeling the heat of sun his fur and narrowing his eyes as they slowly adjust to the rays of the sun.

Sootwing | open | camp The black molly was busying herself with a thorough wash, lying beneath a low-hanging bush that provided enough shade for her to be comfortable. With such hot weather and a relentless sun in the sky, it was difficult for the dark-furred feline to keep cool. Her coat absorbed the heat too well for her liking and it caused to feel less enthusiastic to do anything. Sootwing looked up briefly from her cleaning to see more clanmates starting to appear within the camp. They, too, looked weary from the heat and she couldnβt help but sympathize. Nobody was free of the heat of the day.
Thistlepaw | open | camp The wild-furred tomcat let out a groan as he sat back on his haunches, his eyes shut and shoulders sagging. βItβs too hot,β he grumbled to himself, scooting further beneath the shade of a bush. His thick fur was not benefiting him at all at the moment and all he wanted to do was go and swim in the stream outside of territory. That was his problem; he couldnβt leave camp without a warrior to go with, and he wasnβt sure if anyone was going at the moment. He would go around and ask but, with how hot is was, he knew others would already be asking to go out there. He would wait until he saw someone else going out; he hardly had the energy or willpower to get back into the vicious sunrays.

βͺRushpaw || πΉπͺπ»π½π΅π π¬π΅πΈπΎππ & Taiyou || Camp It wasnt long before Russetpaw came into view soon followed by Thistlepaw. Hugging to the shadows Rushpaw allowed her legs to swiftly carry her over to the two young toms. Her tail had been high earlier but now as the heat of the day grew thick around her her tail began to droop and usually perky ears slightly flatten exposing the fact that she was in complete discomfort by the heat. Reaching the other apprentices she settled herself in the only shady spot she could find left open and allowed her peircing yellow eyes look from one tom to the other. "What are you guys up to today?" She questioned curiously.

Grousestar nodded, the idea of fish catching his attention. "The streams aren't deep enough to carry anything but minnows," he mewed thoughtfully. "But I know of a beaver pond farther downstream which is certainly deep enough for fish." He jumped to his paws again, energy coursing through his veins at the thought of patrolling again. "I'll lead a patrol to the pond with me. Larksong, Creekfall and Thistlepaw can come with me. Another patrol can start looking for nests and catch any prey along the way." He glanced up at the sun, narrowing his black eyes before turning to the cats. "Stay in the shade and do not go out into direct sunlight. I do not want another casualty due to heat stroke."
(oof I need to elect a deputy. I'll do that when grouse and co. gets back

Larkpetal felt a stab of hurt in her chest once again at the mention of Kestrelswoop. She looked to the rest of the cats in the patrol. Creekfall and Thistlepaw were nice enough, and it wasn't a big enough group to make her feel uncomfortable. She nodded quietly to the two other cats as they approached, a little light on the paw that had had the thorn in it.

With a flick of his tail he signaled to his patrol, leading them out of camp and in front of the stream crossing. He quickly crossed to the safety of the shade on the other side, waiting for the patrol to catch up, his tail flicking impatiently.

Larkpetal quickly padded forward, eager to keep her paws off the burning ground for as long as she could. She never thought she'd be thinking it, but the sooner they got their paws wet, the better. At least then it would be much more bearable to walk around.

Birchpaw | Female | 7 Moons | Asexual | Medicine Cat Apprentice | Birchpaw is a short, lean, silver tabby with long fur that makes her seem much bigger than she really is. Her muzzle, neck and all four paws are white and she has bright, fierce amber eyes that always seem to be glaring at the world. | Birchpaw isn't nearly as irritable as she first seems. She not to fond of fooling around, but she enjoys the quiet company of other cats and is incredibly loyal to her Clan. While she was a boisterous kit, she became quieter and more thoughtful after her mother's death, preferring to spend her time these days either learning or in quiet contemplation. | Birchpaw never really even thought about being a Medicine Cat when she was young, throwing herself into practising battle moves with her denmates and begging the Elders for stories of great Warriors past. It wasn't until her mother, Frostpoppy, came down with Greencough that she really gave it any thought. She watched the Medicine Cat work so hard to save her mother's life and, thought her mother passed anyway, Birchpaw was inspired and begged Ferngaze to take her on. | Frostpoppy (Mother, Deceased), Open for Father, Open for Siblings. | Lycaonia | Kix
Doefeather | Female | 39 Moons | Pansexual | Queen | Doefeather is a reddish-brown she-cat with thick, black, classic tabby markings and a white underside. She has white socks on her back paws, but only her toes on her front paws are white. Doefeather is pretty and lean with sleek medium-length fur. She has a few scars from her time as a Warrior and a slight notch in her left ear. Her eyes are a lively yellow.| Doefeather is a sweet, motherly cat with a kind heart and a calm nature. She's always had a fondness for those younger than her and a love of kits in particular. Beware though, Doefeather has a protective streak a mile wide and will not hesitate to shred anyone who threatens those dear to her. She can also be slightly vain, spending quite a bit of her time grooming her fur. | Doefeather has had a relatively normal life in SageClan. She was a rambunctious kit, a dedicated Apprentice and a fierce Warrior. Now, she's absolutely delighted to be able to bring more kits into the world and provide future Warriors for the Clan. | Willowbark (Father), Meadowbreeze (Mother), Open for Siblings. | Lycaonia | Kix
Smokecloud | Male | 15 Moons | Bisexual | Warrior | Smokecloud is a young, smokey grey tom with bright green eyes. His underside and paws are a slightly lighter shade of grey and he has black tips to his ears and tail. His medium-length fur is very thick and rather messy, though Smokecloud doesn't really seem to care much, preferring to spend his time in much better way than grooming. | Smokecloud is a bright, optimistic and rather hyper young Warrior. He adores being with others, spending time with his friends and working for his Clan. He never really grew out of his kitten-like energy, even though his mentor often wished he would, and still has quite a bit of trouble sitting still. He can be a bit of a flirt at times, but it's all in good fun. | Smokecloud was always an excitable kit, ready for adventure and wanting to be out and about, playing and practising. He has basically barrelled through life so far, with a grin and a good-natured jab at everyone around him. He's a great fighter, but has problems with the patience needed for hunting. He continues to work on it, wanting to improve himself. | Open for all Kin | Lycaonia | Kix
Starlingcall | Male | 73 Moons | Straight | Elder | Starlingcall is a dark, charcoal-grey tabby with yellow eyes. He has minimal white spotting, specifically on his chin, chest and toes. The most startling thing about his appearance is the painful-looking scarring over his hip and hind quarters and his lack of tail, both of which happened in a nasty fight with a fox two season ago. | Starlingcall is mostly a laid back and calm tom with a cheery disposition. He can get frustrated and snappish at times, as it hurts him quite a bit to move, but he tries his best not to take it out on his Clanmates. He prefers to spend his time relaxing in the sun, where the warmth helps sooth the ache, and tell stories to the kits of the Clan. On days when his hips allow him, he'll sometimes take a slow walk out to catch some fish. | Starlingcall was born to Barkfur and Rabbitpounce. He was a subdued kit, but formed some strong bonds with his fellow Apprentices and perked up. He was a talented Apprentice and became a Warrior a full Moon early. Starlingcall was moved early to the Elder's den after his hips were badly damaged and he lost his tail in a fight. The wounds and bones ache, especially on cold days. | Open for all Kin, Open to a Mate | Lycaonia | Kix

Larkpetal nodded in response to Grousestar, throwing him a slightly sympathetic glance at his apparent discomfort. She was lucky to have short fur and lighter coloring, she didnβt envy the longer pelted cats right now. Brushing a paw against the dry dirt beneath them, she spoke up βWith prey so scarce, I can imagine the beavers arenβt going to be all too happy to see us nearby. Do you think thereβll be a fight?β

Russetpaw shuffled on his paws trying to find a comfortable position in the shade to escape the harsh sunlight. He turned his attention to Rushpaw as the older she cat settle down herself in the shade. "Nothing just mostly trying to catch fire from the heat." He shrugged watching as Grousestar lead a patrol out. "Ugh, can it get any hotter? I would kill to be in some nice cool water. How about you Rushpaw, what have you been up to?"

Grousestar shook his head. "The beavers would have just came up from hibernation, and they would be repairing their dam and den by now. As long as we keep away from them, we should be okay." He shook out his neck fur again, shrinking slightly into the shade.

((If you'd like Creekfall can be Doefeathers mate and the father to the kits. It can be a new romance with the kits being a welcome surprise )) Nodding dutifully, not necessarily excited to be going out into the heat but he did look forwards to taking a nice cool dip in the water after they were done fishing. Pulling up the rear Creekfall he listened to Larkpetals inquiries about the beavers and Grousestars responses. "If a beaver does show up making a fuss I'll be more than happy to send him scurrying back into water", he meowed with a playful growl swiping his claws into the air as if he was slashing out at an imaginary beaver.

Thistlepaw | mocatstar , mimikyutie , Falconwing | territory Thistlepaw opened his mouth to answer Rushpaw but paused when he saw Grousestar beckoning him with his tail. A little surprised, he blinked an apology to his denmates before standing and rushing over to catch up with the older felines. He didn't catch why he was being called over but assumed he was to join them on a patrol as they left camp. He tried to look less "droopy" as he followed along, though it was difficult with heat radiating around him. He envied Larkpetal's thin pelt and wished his wasn't so wild and thick. He hoped they were headed towards a water source, where they could finally cool off. The tom seemed to perk up at the mention of beavers; that meant they were headed for water. He could just imagine the cooling sensation of the water, not at all worried about dealing with angry beavers. He could probably take them on, anyways.
Ferngaze | Lycaonia | camp Ferngaze took her time eating her mouse; it would probably have to fill her up for most of the day until the pile was restocked fully. With food being scarce because of the weather, the clan needed to save the fresh-kill for those who needed it the most. Ferngaze didn't mind not eating too much; she was used to it by now with many seasons of saving food for those in need. With some final bites, Ferngaze finished her meal, discarding it before going back to groom herself briefly. Once she was finished, she would go off and locate her apprentice, Birchpaw, so they could go search for herbs. Satisfied with her wash, the medicine cat rose and padded back to her den. "Birchpaw," she called into the mouth of the den. "Let's go herb gathering before the sun's too high in the sky." She wanted to complete her task quickly so that they didn't have to be out when the day was at its warmest.
