Toza sighed, turning his eyes towards the ceiling. It was a sticky situation. “All well ‘n good. But I say a bit of disguisin’ tis in order. They haven’t seen yer face, but it’ll be problematic if they start puttin’ up wanted posters for me.” He set aside his blackjack, picking up one of Ana’s daggers in its place. “This hair is easily dealt with, ‘n I can cover up this scar with something or other.” Toza pulled his hair into a ponytail over his head and swung the blade. It took a few more swings to get rid of everything but soon Toza’s mop was reduced to a pile of light brown curls on the dirt floor. He ran his hands over his head, to get rid of any more loose hair, then dug around in his pants pocket, producing a very much wrinkled and faded indigo bandana. “There,” He said, tying it around his head. “I might as well be a different man. Whaddiya think?”

Ana grinned at him, "Looks good. I wouldn't recognise you if I was some underpaid guard who constantly risks his life." She winked, "for any posters you see, just rip 'em down. That's what I did before I came out to these islands." She checked her pockets once again, seemingly not realising that she had just hinted to her past. From one of the pockets in the back she pulled out a small compact mirror. She flicked it open and bent down in front of him. "Here," She said, showing him his reflection.

Toza was about to inquire further about why there had been wanted posters up for her, but thought better of it and shut his mouth. He looked down at the small mirror and pulled a face. “I suppose it’s some consolation that it’s not all gone…” He murmured, leaning forward and pulling out a curl to see just how much he had cut off. “Ah well, it’ll grow. Now, ifffin I shave off this stubble I’d look just like I did back when I first got into saillin’, minus a few dents ‘n the tattoos.” He chuckled.

"Let me," She murmured, pulling out a throwing knife as she moved to sit down by him. She seized his chin in one hand, "I won't cut you if you don't move." She told him as she started her work, slowly and cautiously moving is face so she could cut it all off. Her hands seemed to quiver whenever she wasn't touching his face, and when she pulled away, she crossed her arms behind her back. "How's that?" She inquired, tucking the blade away so not to look at him.

Toza was taken aback by the gesture, but stayed perfectly still so as to not upset the knife and cause himself any injury. He examined Ana’s handiwork with the mock air of a critic, turning his head this way and that to get every angle in the mirror. “Nearly slit my throat a few times, but otherwise not too shabby, lass, at least for not having a beard yourself.” He said jokingly. “Ah’course, I would I have been more than capable of doing it myself, but thank’ye kindly.” He looked up and saw Ana averting her gaze. “Is somethin’ amiss? What’s wrong?”

"No," she replied, just a little too sharply. "No," she said again, voice softer this time, "we should leave. It's about time the guard post changes if my assumption is correct." She adjusted the beak of her hood a bit so her face couldn't be seen. Truthfully, she had the knowledge of how to shave because of her husband. She hated the thought of him being her husband, and it made her sick to think what she had done for him. Her hands had shook from the memories and from the everlasting fear that Toza would lash out at her should she not be careful. She knew now that her fear was unjustified, but back then, it was something that loomed over her like a dark storm cloud. It was him that she killed, the reason why she was standing her now, a free woman ... more or less.

I'm so sorry for not being on, Shea. >.> I ended being out all day tuesday and yesterday was extremely hectic as well. Today was also pretty busy. So yeah, can't wait till (mid) next week and free time. Oh, I also hope you've had a nice couple of days. )
He had his doubts, but decided it would be best to keep them to himself. At least until a later date. No sense in poking a sleeping tiger. Ana would talk when, and if, she had a mind to. "Very well." He stood, rolling up his faded sleeves to the elbow. "So are we plannin' on just boardin' any old ship that'll house us?" He gathered up his weapons as he spoke, tucking one of the daggers in the back of his belt, and arranging the rest inconspicuously about his person. He took a few steps forward to see everything was secure, then gave a grunt and adjusted his bandanna, which had slid over his eyes.
He knew a few unsavory characters that hung about the harbor, who'd be more than willing to serve the police his head on a spike for any reward money being offered, and just for fun besides. It would be problematic if Ana chose one of their vessels for their voyage. The matter of where they were headed also crossed Toza's mind. He hadn't the slightest idea where Ahdi might be headed, the boy was a native of Suriname, but Toza knew he had the sense to steer clear of there, at least for a year or two. But then again, why should he stay away? He had left his captain to be hung, for all he knew Toza was already dead and buried.
This might be my only reply for today, sorry. )

(It's cool! We all have lives. I haven't been doing much roleplaying recently bc the plot that I want to try is being ignored :I but it can't be helped if people don't like it.)
Ana shrugged, "there are some assassins who pilot vessels. Most of which I know." She rubbed at her arm in an almost unconscious motion and scuffed her feet. "One is like a brother to me. We should just get off this island. I'm sure that once we reach somewhere more friendly you may be able to get another ship, assuming that you can pass off as a shipwrecked merchant." There was an almost teasing tone to her voice. "If that is acceptable for you.

And I'm back! Sorry, been meaning to reply for days but I was only able to get to my laptop late at night and I kept crashing before I could do anything. >.> )
Aw, that sucks. I'm sure someone'll give it a shot. sometimes you just gotta push it around for a while until you get someone. )
"Seems to me I don’t have much of a choice." Toza muttered, a little huffily, passing Ana on his way towards the exit. "We best get going while the going’s good. I don't wanna set eyes on the Haitian coast again, even iffin it's the last port on Earth." He stepped out on the road, there was not a living creature in sight save for him and his companion. The sun was far past its zenith and was steadily sinking westward, causing Toza to squint to make out the details of his surroundings, and even then he was completely at a lost as to where he was. There were a few dilapidated huts in close proximity to the one he had just left, all of which seemed to be abandoned, save for a stray dog which poked a weary muzzle out of one a few yards away, before quickly retreating back into the gaping frame that had once marked the entrance of the dwelling.

Ana emerged too, gazing around from under her hood. She dropped it so it was sitting around her shoulders. She had removed the bandaging and the line of stitches was still across her head. She had already made a mental note to get them checked out while they were on the ship. She started leading the way back towards the busier part of the city, navigating the darkened pathways with what seemed like practiced ease. She glanced up at a taller structure as they passed it and tilted her head. It was one of the few things in the area that wasn't completely destroyed. She stopped for a moment, still looking at the tall structure before she sighed to herself and ran directly at the wall.
She climbed the structure similar to how a lizard would a wall, and she was at the top after a few seconds. She stood on one foot on the precipice and stared out over the city.
"Just as I thought." She called down as she started her downwards climb. "Guard shifts are changing. We'll have all of maybe ten minutes to pass through the city unnoticed.

He watched, suppressing his admiration. Ever since he had met her Toza had been impressed with the amount of skill Ana possessed, and the more he saw of it the more he was of an opinion that, had she not gone into assassination, Ana would have made a great sailor. At least when it came time to scale the riggings and masts.
Toza, having grown up on a plantation, had always been fairly agile himself, but once he boarded a ship for the first time he had been reduced to a nauseous mess and spent the majority of his first two weeks at sea gagging and shivering below deck. It took his captain practically having Toza dragged above to scrub the decks and help around the ship to finally knock the seasickness out of him. At Ana’s statement Toza raised an eyebrow, spreading his arms incredulously. ”Ten minutes? That’s cuttin’ it a bit close there, lass. Is it even possible?” He gestured downhill, to the hub of the city, and though the crowds were dwindling due to the setting sun, still had quite a few people milling around the buildings and stands. “Ya expect us to run to the harbor?”

Ana shook her head in response. "No," she responded, gazing down the hill. "Running just catches more attention. So long as we make it into the city and avoid the heavily populated areas we should be fine." She glanced over at him, pulled on her gloves and started walking. "So long as you know where the buildings are, you can avoid the patrols of the city. That's why it's easier to travel on rooftops." She glanced back at him, slightly wary in case he would attack her while he back was literally turned. She doubted it, however. "If we make it into the town, we can scale to a rooftop before the guards come back on duty. From there we can head to the harbor and get out of here." She seemed very confident. "And if we run into any guards ... well, we're already wanted anyway? What's some blood spilt?" (Hey Orca! Have a look at my den? wcrpforums.com/thread/10390/ga)

Sure thing. Also btw I really like your new sn )
Toza heaved an exaggerated sigh, lifting his eyes skywards. “Eugh, it’s a good thang ya landed with a sailor and not a merchant. Otherwise I’d fall off a rooftop and crack my head open before I even laid eyes on the harbor. Ah well, best get going I suppose.” He began a fast, but causal pace downhill, pulling his bandana down over his scarred ear ‘Oh, I hope yer familiar with this city, cuz I’m sure as hell not.” He called over his shoulder without breaking step. The Haiti had never been a major port for him. And when he did stop by he never ventured into town unless it was for business.
(last post for tonight, I'll see you tomorrow, hopefully. ^^ )

"I've been here before." She responded simply, coming up to walk next to him. She kept his pace easily and even stepped past him at one point. As she had suspected, there were no guards at the gate that lead into the busier city so they passed through unnoticed. Ana gazed around for a moment before pikcing a small building off the side of the gate and started to climb up.
