IntroductionWar, intrigue, betrayal, complicated political rivalries, alliances. This roleplay will work a little differently than the ones we're used to on this forum, at least at the start. Each person is going to be in charge of creating the history, landscape, political background, and aesthetic of an entire kingdom. Then these kingdoms will come together in a roleplay about their interaction, whether that means as political allies or enemies on the battlefield. Instead of me proposing an entire setting, plot, map, etc., we are going to make a world and plot as a team. It might sound a little intimidating, but I think I've come up with a few ways to make this fun and collaborative. The object is to create a roleplay with a rich world and history that can allow for a plot that can be more complex. How it Works- Joining: The roleplay begins here, in the planning stage. There will be six of us, myself included. Once you are sure you meet the requirements, feel free to claim a slot!
- Initial Planning: To start off, each of us will come up with a relatively basic idea for a kingdom. This can include size, climate, and vague political landscape. Then we will figure out how these can all fit together geographically, perhaps even start with creating some alliances and rivalries.
- More Detailed World Building: Once we are mostly finished with the initial stage of planning, we can get into the deeper, more interesting aspects of our kingdoms. This can include religions, cults, political/social groups, geography, economy, current disasters/successes, etc. We will write out better articulated and more in-depth descriptions of the important aspects of our kingdom. Coloring in the lines, if you will.
[/font][li] Rulers: Every good kingdom needs a ruler of some sort. This can be a dictator, a religious monarch, a tyrant, an oligarchy, even an unofficial ruler in a democracy. However your kingdom's political system works, you will need to come up with at least one character who is at the forefront of the running of their country. At this stage you will also come up with a number of slots for the important characters surrounding your ruler. These could consist of family members, advisers, generals/commanders, nobles, etc.[/li]
[li] Plotting: Next we get to put together the pieces of the puzzle. We'll ask questions like which kingdoms would want to work together and why? Which kingdoms would wish to fight each other and why? Are their kingdoms who would be secretly aligned? This will also be the stage in which we come up with characters for kingdoms other than our own. We might want to make someone else's general or their ruler's partner or rivals from within the kingdom itself.[/li]
[li] Opening the Role Play: After those things happen, we can open the roleplay up to the good people of Off Topic Role-Playing. I'll compile the information about the six kingdoms and put them on the front page. Then joiners can create characters from any number of them when they join. It could be that we'll have two pages, one for each side of the war, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.[/li][/ul] General InformationI'm not going to send you in completely blind. I think it's important that we have some vague ideas going in just to get our feet under us. Firstly, this will be a fictional roleplay. There can be fantasy elements, but I'd prefer if magic were more implicit than the central focus of the story. Also the kingdom I create will be pretty European in inspiration. Others can take inspiration from other parts of the world, but that at least will help you contextualize. I think it would also be fun if there were some sort of world war taking place. Actual battle scenes and negotiations could be fun, not to mention the alliances. So keep that in mind as well. I'll get started on my kingdom tonight so that you have an idea of what I'm looking for.SlotsKingdom #1: ℊℓоω Kingdom #2: 𝕾𝖙𝖔𝖗𝖒𝖗𝖆𝖌𝖊 Kingdom #3: oвlινισи ✧ Kingdom #4: inky Kingdom #5: ℊℓоω Kingdom #6: openRequirementsThis thread is for people who are at very least semi-advanced, if not advanced. It will require more writing from the participants in the planning stage than the typical RP. But mostly this rule is in place because this will require a lot of collaboration and spit-balling in order to work. Open minds are welcome and encouraged. If you are not typically the kind of person who likes to world build, you are welcome to stick around without claiming one of the kingdom slots. You can just make characters while the rest of us are plotting out the world.[/div][/div][/div]

The Form:[You can fill this out at your leisure. We'll probably discuss a lot of it here, so don't worry about getting it all done quickly or anything. As long as you do it eventually it's fine. This will be what I'll put on the front page when the RP is opened]
Kingdom Name Geography/Climate (This should be 1-2 paragraphs about the physical area of the kingdom. Is it on the main continent or an island? Is it warm or cold? What are the primary natural resources there? Are there mountains? Rivers/lakes? Forests or deserts? How dense is the population?)
Culture/Economy (This should be 1-2 paragraphs about the people who live in the kingdom. What are some of the common jobs? What is the wealth distribution like? Do the people farm or work in textiles or mine, etc? Is there one dominate culture or multiple? What about religion? Do the people follow one god or multiple? How many languages are spoken in the kingdom? What does the average family look like? Are they patriarchal or matriarchal?)
Political World (Again, 1-2 paragraphs, this one should be about the political climate of the kingdom. What kind of political system is it; a monarchy, oligarchy, tyranny, democracy, republic, etc? Do the people generally support their leaders? Is there any unrest or are things peaceful? Who, specifically, are the people in charge and what do they value? This we can discuss later, but what countries is yours aligned with? Which are they at war with or neutral toward? Why?)
Extra Information (This could really be about anything. Creatures that live in the kingdom. Styles that people wear. Is there something the people from this kingdom are particularly known for? Do they have a large navy or are they all vegetarian, just random bits like that.)
The Ruler Again, this really depends on the political system of the country you've come up with. But here I would like it if you described (this will be your character) the person with debatably the most power in your kingdom. Describe them in a paragraph or so. What is their role? How popular are they? What do they look like/behave like?

Glow's Kingdom/the Example: Selyria Geography/Climate Selyria is rather mild in climate. It is not as cold as the northern two countries, but is not a warm place either. It is a wet land that is characterized by rather gray/gloomy weather. As far as geography goes, Selyria by land mass is one of the biggest of the kingdoms. About half of its territory is on the western coast of the main continent. The other half is an archipelago of about 50 islands of various size and population. It is very green, rolling land with sharp cliffs and dark rocks. The land on the continent is forested and actually less populated than that of the islands, which are used for trade. The land of Selyria is not particularly well suited for growing crops, as it is too wet and the soil too inhospitable.
The capital city is on the second largest of the islands in the archipelago. The island and the city are typically called by the same name, Ilysia, however the area around the city is also known by the colloquial term "Ground Clouds". The capital itself was strategically built on the largest natural hot spring in the known world. It is believed to be sacred ground related to both the Male and Female Gods. The spring runs down a sloped hill, over the curved, textured surface which over time has built up a colorful array of minerals. The name "Ground Clouds" comes from the steam that is constantly blanketing Ilysia and the surrounding lands. The moisture from the hot springs makes the air of the island thick, and it tastes of sulfur. The humidity and warmth created by the bubbling hot water has created a rather strange phenomenon. The city of Ilysia was constructed in a smooth, dove gray stone in honor of the Gray Gods. Over time, green plants and algae have thrived in the humid air, which even from miles away, can be seen on the rooftops and walls of the city.
Culture/Economy Whether it is deserved or not, the people in Selyria believe themselves to be the oldest, most sophisticated nation. The majority of its population are rather modest people, who herd sheep or fish in the Foaming Sea, which is what the waters around Selyria are lovingly called. But the humble nature of the majority is not at the forefront of the minds of the ruling class. The capital city, as well as its sister city on the mainland, Fivia, are the epitome of sophistication. Ilysia is home to the world's largest and most extensive library, which now is home to a school for excellent thinkers.
But I would be remiss not to mention the religion of the Selyrian people, which is central to their identities and to that of the kingdom as a whole. The religion is centered around two gods, known most commonly as the Male God and the Female God. The Male God presides over all things of the earth; rocks, streams, volcanoes, cliffs, etc. The Female God presides over the air and sky, as well as weather. They are depicted always as a couple in their prime formed from gray rock. Their likenesses are depicted all over the kingdom in the most beautiful and detailed to the most modest and small of statues. They are however, never permitted to be touching in art. This is because, according to myth, they must always be separated by land and air which is why they have no children. Each city and even some families claim patronage by one of the two gods. There are beautiful temples even in the most remote of lands. Ilysia is the one place that is said to be equal in the eyes of the gods, as the spring is of the Male God and its mist of the Female. For this reason it is considered lucky to be married in the city, and all couples in Selyria make the journey to do so if they are able.
Political World For the most part, Selyria is a peaceful and content place. Of course there are inner internal conflicts, but in the current era, none are too noteworthy. Most of the conflict for the kingdom comes from external sources. The takeover by Brasmid has meant the horizons have vastly expanded in the form of imperialism. He wishes to seize new lands on the continent for agricultural purposes, which means some other countries are going to have to pay for his ambition. Vellevyn is the first of his conquests. He has already sent troops to the western territories of the landlocked country, and one doesn't need seer to tell them that war is just around the corner.
Extra Information Selyrian culture is greatly stratified, as are most, between the wealthy and the poor. The poor in Selyria mostly work in livestock, fishing, smithing, textiles, all of the trades you would expect. Their fashions are practical and as one might expect, depending on the weather. The wealthy, unfortunately, are a bit more interesting. Most speak several languages, both the common tongue and Selyrian, which is an antiquated tongue used mostly in writing and religious ceremonies. One thing that is interesting about their culture is that their religion encourages open sexuality. The sanctity of marriage is a foreign concept, and married couples are perfectly normal if they take on other partners over their lifetime. This goes for both men and women. This doesn't mean they aren't strict in their own ways. Marriage is pushed on citizens, especially the wealthy, starting around the age of fifteen or sixteen for women and seventeen or eighteen for men. (Note that this makes the king, at 37, an outlier among his peers). Currently the style in Fivia is long dresses made of sheer fabric, as well as jewels and bold metals.
The Ruler
Brasmid Redfowle
[ face claim ● Luke Evans ] Personality Brasmid is many things, but meek is not one of them. Each person he meets comes away with an opinion of him, one that is either strongly positive or negative. He is the type of man who either encourages confidence or belittles a person to their weakest. Brasmid, or Bras as he is known by his family, is a difficult man to pin down. His actions are of a direct result of his moods, which change swiftly and often. He goes through stretches of being angry and demanding, frustrated at his inability to do everything at once. He also goes through stages of quietness and chilling stillness. During these times he is typically contemplating his next move, or regretting some of his previous ones. It goes without saying that he isn't the best statesmen. He is too brash to politely discuss trivial things with soft, stuffy nosed men. He desires action above all else and is a man of emotion, especially in regards to politics. Socially, he is neither cruel nor particularly kind. He has a sharp tongue and a flippant attitude, but an amused smile is not uncommonly flashed across his lips.
History He is mostly known as a general, at least that is how he made his name. The son of a prominent noble, he was nonetheless born with warrior's blood in his veins. He is a soldier before anything else. As a young man, he was quickly propelled into a leadership position after inheriting his late father's troops, the largest number in Selyria at the time. Not many years later, he was entrusted with the command of the kingdom's army. But how did he become king, you might ask? Well, firstly, the former king died with no one to succeed him but a sickly seven year old son. Rather than place the boy on the throne, it was decided that a general by the name of Porbos would be named Steward until the boy reached an adequate age. Only the boy never would grow old (he died suspiciously months after Porbos was granted stewardship). This was quickly followed by a number of foreign military losses. The people of Selyria were rapidly growing impatient, and this is where Brasmid made his entrance. He effectively held the steward's men hostage, declaring he would start a civil war unless he was granted the throne. Porbos refused. Rather than laying seige locally, however, Brasmid sent his own men to reclaim the lost territory across the sea. Two days later, Porbos' troops revolted, backing Brasmid. The rest is rather self explanatory. The steward was assassinated, either by Brasmid's man or by someone else's. The new king has arguably been a successful one. He's conquered even more territory for Selyria on the main continent and has amassed a formidable army. Critics, however, are right to point out that he is more general than statesman and his reign though remarkable, might be destined for an equally magnificent fall.
Appearance Part of Brasmid's success can surely be attributed to his physical presence. At just over 6'5, he is considerably taller than the average person. He boasts broad shoulders and a long stride. He stands out among the small-boned professorial men of Ilysia. He is handsome if one is attracted to brash, inelegant masculinity. His features are proud and give the impression of age, though he is actually in the late stages of his prime. His hair and beard are dark, though his skin is naturally on the lighter side, as is common in the kingdom. He has dark eyes. Brasmid is currently unmarried, though the maids in the palace will gleefully inform you had he's not lacking in company. He has no legitimate children, but a handful of bastards whom he treats well, though their existence is kept mostly secret from his subjects.

Brasmid Redfowle
[ face claim ● Luke Evans ] 37 ● Selyria ● King ● heterosexual ● chaotic neutral Appearance, Personality, History: See above
Aila Redfowle
[ face claim ● Luma Gothe ] 23 ● Selyria ● Lady ● pansexual ● lawful neutral Personality It's no surprise Aila turned out as stubborn and cynical as she is, with Bras and Amberle as older siblings. Despite Bras being fourteen years her senior, she nevertheless takes after him in many ways. She too is unafraid to offend with her words. Of her siblings, she is perhaps the most sharp-tongued. She lacks Bras' dryness and Le's playful sarcasm. No one has ever called her flirtatious. In fact, most men who've courted her would glumly report that she is one of the most impossible people on the planet to woo. She has a morbid and dark sense of humor, she prefers her own company, and she is bored by most attempts to be romantic. Simply put, Aila is a difficult person to be around at times. This doesn't mean she isn't charming in her own way. She is too clever for her own good, she has impeccable taste in fashion, and she can be surprisingly funny (whether she means to be or not).
History Aila is the youngest of the four Redfowle children. At the time of her birth, her father was a nobleman and a general. The Redfowle estate was a wealthy and abundant one off the coast of the mainland, not far from Fivia. Their claim to fame were their purebred horses, sold across the continent for the highest of prices. At this point, Brasmid was still a young man and not yet a soldier. Their parents were getting older, especially for having an infant daughter and a three year old son (Leon). Hiero and Violesse Redfowle were childhood friends and married when they were only fifteen. Violesse died when Aila was six, and Hiero a year and half later. Bras then became the head of the estate and inherited his father's troops. While he was off taking over the western half of the continent, Aila was still young enough that she was sent off to school in Fivia. She was always a guarded and somewhat gloomy child. She spent most of her time in school ditching classes to loiter in the kitchens, which was the only place she wasn't expected to learn anything. She did however pick up a few colorful phrases from the chefs who worked there. By the time she graduated (with honors, miraculously), her brother was king. The Redfowle children were given the option to move to Ilysia, but Aila chose to return to their estate where she remained until she was kicked out by her former nursemaid who said it was time for her to become a wife.
Appearance Aila is a bit darker than any of her older siblings, her skin a warm olive in tone. She takes after her late father in appearance, not because of her coloring but because of her large eyes and her full lips. Her nose is narrow and somewhat flat. Her eyes are dark and judgemental; two pools of ink. The sharp angle of her brows gives her a severity that some find alluring and others find off-putting. She is quite tall, though not as absurdly tall as Bras. At 5'9 she is a good four inches taller than the average woman and two inches taller than her older sister. Her limbs are long and elegant, as are her fingers and neck. A curtain of straight black hair falls to her lower back and is rarely styled up. The dresses she wears are always the most daring in the capital, as she is from Fivia, the more modern of the largest Selyrian cities. Golds and warm tones work best with her skin color, but she is also partial to black.
Scout Harlowe
[ face claim ● Noah Schnapp ] 12 ● Selyria ● Bastard ● too young ● lawful good Bastard son of Brasmid Resident of Selyria

History
Appearance
Ysara Balleirak
[ face claim ● Ella Rattigan ] 25 ● Brisingar ● Courtier ● heterosexual ● neutral good
Personality Ysara is a mix of hard-headed and refined. Though she is opinionated and willing to fight what she believes in, she understands the difficulty of her position in the majority of debates. She is a courtier surrounded by royals, and it is wisest of her to watch her tongue. Those who know her would call her charming. She is sweet and open minded. Ask her to do you a favor and she will pour all her energy into it. But she is also smart. Having grown up in the palace at Brisingar, she knows precisely how to behave around nobles, royals, and servants alike. Tactful is a good word. Then again, she also has a streak of chaos in her. She is romantic and believes fervently in the good of all people. She often prefers the company of the low-born to the high-born, for around them she can let down her carefully constructed facade of the elegant courtier. In reality she knows she is nothing more than a glorified servant herself. Apart from the beautiful dresses and the dinner parties, there is really no difference between Ysara and any common palace employee. She is entirely at the beck and call of the king and his son. She fears the day when they tire of her company.
History
Appearance Though she is lovely, Ysara blends in well with the people of Brisingar. Her fair hair and light complexion are evidence of her family's long history in the cold. Her hair is the color of the winter sun. Her eyes are a glacial blue. Her features are symmetrical, reminiscent of her late mother, who was renowned for her beauty even in her later years. She has cupid's bow lips of a lovely nude shade. Her face is heart-shaped, with a pretty chin and a feminine jawline. Her simple, natural beauty lends itself to softer colors. Her style is classic and beautiful. Because Brisingar is cold, she is commonly found in long wool cloaks with reddish or white fur collars. Underneath she wears gowns in white, black, navy, or cream. They are made to suit her thin and narrow frame. She is not a tall woman, though she is also not short. Her height is around 5'6, with an inch or two added for shoes.

Vellevyn Geography/Climate The largest country on the continent is one by the name of Vellevyn. It is almost entirely landlocked, except for a small stretch of coast in the west, cradled between Selyria and Calea. It is also the most geographically diverse. In the northern parts of the country, it is green and forested. A range of mountains makes its home there, and it is capped with snow, even late into the summer. (Further north is the wintery kingdom of Brisingar). This land is known as Lupin Valley. As you might expect, the name comes from the flowers that blanket its meadows in the warmer months. The northern half of the kingdom is the most ideal for growing crops. Vellevyn is the top agricultural provider for the entire continent. Logically this means a majority of its residents are farmers. They grow anything from wheat to rice to potatoes, depending on their location. Most of the cities are on the smaller side and though there is wealth, it is not extravagant.
If one were to travel south, they would find the climate growing warmer and drier. The southern half of the country is dedicated mostly to the growing of olives and grapes. Despite being the less populated of the regions, it is the wealthier given the high cost of their goods. The towns are built of pale sandstone and flowers line the rooftops. Here the farmers are typically wealthy families who employ a number of slaves to do the manual labor. The largest city and the capital of Vellevyn is called Arebilla. It's situated in a dry riverbed, where red clay and towering arches create a striking landscape. The city is built predominantly from marble, which is mined not far from the border with Calea. It is a city of extravagant beauty, with colonnaded temples, courtyards, and palaces. At its heart is a structure known as the Sand Basin. It is a vast floor with a glittering glass mosaic depicting the founding of the city. Similar to a Roman forum, this is where all the city leaders come to debate and pass legislation.

Yasss I’ve already been brainstorming for my kingdom, especially its landscape and climate. Probably a region that is found further north and has a harsh, cold climate. Like, it’s basically always winter up there. Like, winter is coming? It’s already here, bitches xD Not the largest kingdom by size but not the smallest either. I guess one of the more medium sized regions by area? I was thinking that I would make it more of a militaristic, tyrannical type of domain so yeah, its ruler would be like a tyrant as well. That would be interesting against your tyrant, cause allies? Enemies? The drama.

To be honest, I think it would be interesting to deter from making a typical fantasy roleplay. In that, taking away the usual magic elements could make it more unique since normally fantasy roleplays always stray toward that. Like, there could always be sprinkles of it, but it doesn't have to dominate what the roleplay is meant to be about.
