(Yeah cos Ress is a good person <3
It’ll be interesting to see how their relationship functions afterwards though. Probably the same as normal externally but I think they’ll maybe both feel a little weird around eachother for a while afterwards. Val will feel weird around everyone ngl
Anyway I should definitely go to bed. Night!)

(Haha, night.
I could see Val and Ress kind of being really close, but very distant. They just have that bad past.
Poor kids.)

Yeah I think close but there’s still that barrier
Also before I go I think we should do the following order 1) general getting to know dynamics, first cases, etc 2) Val’s court appearance 3) Threat against the 99 begins
And then general relatiknship stuff and all that and cases can happen over the course of the rp)

Val stood in front of the group in the briefing room, with some crime scene images on the screen behind her as she spoke.
“Alright, guys, we got a murder on our hands. Joe Macintyre, 25 years old, unmarried and with no kids. Couldn’t find any traces of any family members living nearby. He was shot, but we need to figure out by who - there are no traces of the murder weapon. I searched the database for him and got nothing. I would suggest door duty is a key step here, but we should do a thorough search of his house. So basically we have no weapon and no leads right now, but at least we have a place to start. And I think Theo also has something to brief on.”
Val stepped aside and went to take her seat as Theo stood in her place, flicking through images of his own.
“Meet Leo Hart, a drug dealer who escaped from me once about a year ago. I’ve been waiting for him to surface since, I’m sure he is part of something much bigger than we first anticipated. I got a tip-off that he’s meeting a pretty big supplier today, hopefully with a few associates we can bust too. I’d need to do a stakeout of the location all day as it is not known the exact time of the meeting, but I’m hoping Hart will have evidence of a bigger organisation on him, or at least he will spill something useful when we have him in custody. Plus the supplier wouldn’t exactly be a bad bust either.”
With that, the other detective stepped aside, too, and headed back to his seat. Both investigations would likely need partners, and the captain could arrange that.
(Best I could do, sorry, I’m in a bit of a rush. Do these cases look okay? I have some ideas I can talk through more with these)

The day had started fairly well, he had woken up in a good mood after his breakthrough with Detective Danton yesterday. He was actually hopeful that the team would really start to come together, that they would become a force to be reckoned with.
He pulled in to the parking lot, followed shortly by Beth who's bag he offered to carry up. She smiled at him thankfully, as she pulled a selection of toys from her handbag. Together they entered the precinct, early as usual and he moved quickly to put his belongings away in his office. There was a staff meeting scheduled for 9 and he wanted to make himself a coffee and get settled in before the rest of the staff arrived.
The other detectives followed shortly after and before long they were all crowded in to the briefing room. The Captain stood near the back, his arms clasped behind his back, standing tall and straight, watching silently as his detectives outlined the big cases for the day. The first was a case that personally interested him, he had skimmed the file the day before and had his own theories, it was hard not to when you had spent nearly 20 years specialising in murder cases. It was a perfect case for his two female detectives.
Theo's case was a big drug bust, it had been ongoing for a long while and a resolution would be a huge breakthrough for the precinct. He was interested to see how Theo worked and being a detective light...
"Thank you detectives. Ruiz, you team up with Detective Lowelle on the Macintyre case." He glanced between the two wondering how Lowelle would handle such a case. He was still pushing their boundaries, finding their strengths and weaknesses. "Danton, you're stuck with me." He raised an eyebrow, almost expecting a volley of complaints. "Sargent, can you have some beat cops man the phones, take down any statements."

Ress was simply there, in her attire and entered the briefing room. Her morning, which was slow, and easily boring in her lonely apartment(other than her pets) was a drag. She woke up at 4:00am from nightmares once more, and decided to just roll with it. Her nightmares weren’t anything too terrible, just fearful, and she had them many times before, about her parents(Well, it was terrible actually), and their deaths, hearing the gunshots from under her little bed as a young girl. Being caught by the robbers, the killers who found the young girl crying from under her bed, and used her as a hostage to get away(yet the idiots were still caught). She still had scars, mentally and physically from the tragedy. But she worked hard after healing to do justice to the world. It wasn’t a fairytale dream to her, it was more of a duty, something she had to do. So it was, and she just lived with it. The only people she ever loved died, and she refused to let herself get close to another person. She knew people, evil at heart, and she refused to let that steal from her again.
Snapping back to the present, as others filled the room, she tuned in to the cases. Murder was a thing all the time, and she always tried to be steady in what she did. The only times Ress cried was when she was alone, and other times were just filled with stoney glances, and a mask to hide metaphorically behind. And the drug deal was something that didn’t surprise her, Dr.Lowelle(who had her doctorate, surprisingly) never had a good opinion on people in general, and crime was a thing she knew quite well. It didn’t mean she judged all criminals, and she disliked that word in many ways. She didn’t care for the people who did what they did without mercy, and without heart. Despite her joking smiles, and cold glances, she still valued heart. It reminded her of her family.
Her name was called along with Val’s, and her head swung gracefully to look at her partner in crime(or really, just the opposite), and she nodded. She was a bit agitated, she would prefer to work with Ryan, having known the man, like she did in the past, for her first few cases(?). Plus, a murder case, she was sure it was deliberate. She swung a glare at Ryan, it wasn’t disrespectful one, but more of her expressive way of silently saying Really? That’s a real jackass move. Even if he didn’t understand the look, she still gave it, but nodded none-the-less.
Turning, fully this time, to Val, she regarded her partner for a moment, before nodding respectfully, “Alright, Ruiz,” was all she really said. Her expression not shifting a bit, just steady. Outwardly, no effect(other than her glare at Ryan) was shown, but inwardly, she was putting up her barriers to deal with the case. She was a detective, and eventually she would have to handle a case like this.
No time like the present.

It was hard not to notice the sideways glance from Detective Lowelle, he had expected it. He had yet to assign her to a murder, knowing her past in as much depth as he did. It had been the least he could do to ease her in to the role, but now he needed her to fire on all cylinders. She couldn't be a Detective that wasn't willing to work a murder. This was clear cut, not too violent and only one victim. It was a city crime. There wouldn't be a better case to get her started. He met her gaze and held it, unflinching. Though the look was not antagonistic, just a look of answering 'Really' There was the potential for her to be a great detective, she was intelligent, determined and strong willed. All of the detectives could use a little polishing, even himself. He was of the opinion there was always room for improvement, no matter how good people said you were at something.
