shaledust | accompanied by whitesea | camp Shaledust had been too confounded by her thoughts as she stood out near the nursery, her yellow eyes resting blankly upon the camp. She had yet to notice Whitesea until she saw a blurry flash of grey fur appear before her. It took the queen a moment to gather her words once the warrior had greeted her. "Hi Whitesea," she greeted, her fluffy tail swinging around her paws delicately. "We're doing well today, actually. They might be a bit confused that I woke up earlier than usual, but I'm sure they will adjust once they are born." Briefly, the silver grey feline glanced at the grey warrior until she was able to pose a question or two for her. "How are you doing?" Shaledust asked, slightly curious if Whitesea had been up to anything fascinating lately. But then a thought caught her attention-- she had a chance to escape camp for a bit, as long as Whitesea was willing to accompany her. "You haven't been out of camp today, have you?"

gulldrift | accompanied by breezepaw | camp To say the least, Gulldrift hadn't expected Breezepaw to jump at his appearance much less see her fur spike up. The senior warrior felt a sliver of guilt for accidentally scaring the apprentice, but there wasn't much he could do about it now besides apologizing. "Didn't mean to scare you, Breezepaw, sorry about that," he apologized hastily. The fact that she too was looking for Stormcloud made the entire situation even better for the tabby tom. He had a chance sitting right between his paws now and, to be honest, it made him feel quite giddy. "I haven't seen Stormcloud yet. Want some help finding her?" he offered to the young she-cat before speaking again. "I know she wasn't in the warrior's den, so she might be somewhere around camp or out in the territory. What do you think?"

Echokit >>
Echokit puffed up her fur to make herself look bigger at the sound of Crowpaw’s unfamiliar voice. She looked with horror as she finally spotted the apprentice. Echokit looked up at Crowpaw who was more than double her size and started to stutter.
”W—who a—re y—ou?” she glanced back towards the nursery, a sense of dread overtaking her when she thought the apprentice would tell Echokit’s mother that she has escaped the nursey. She then turned back to the apprentice and narrowed her eyes, slowly regaining her confidence. ”I wanted to see the clan with my own eyes, you aren’t going to tell on me are you?”
(You can always play it off as Littlepaw’s previous mentor is one of the deceased warriors and she just hasn't been assigned a new one yet.)

Whiteseaaccompanied by: Shaledust [ Sand ] Whitesea was happy to know the queen was doing well. With those kits in her belly in must surely be a haste ,but this was her second litter. So there was nothing to worry about. Shaldedust was more expected than a first time mother. She could help but to chuckle,"Kits are Kits. Their troublemakers even if that not born yet." She remember back when she had to kit-sitting all those moons ago. It was every time she had to calm them with they cried. It was a lot of work. Her tail sway to the side. I wonder if Graystar would even want kits? Her ears fell at that thought.
"I-I'm doing good with late start to the day. Nothing really special." Whitesea mewled rather quickly."I haven't been in territory yet but if you like to come with I think we would be wonderful time. Fresh air does the body good and doesn't get it a bit bored stilling the nursery all day." I hope I wasn't rude.

Crowpaw purred and shook her head. "No, I wouldn't do that. You're just curious, is all," she promised. "As long as you don't do anything to get yourself in trouble, you should be fine." She watched the little kit stick up for herself with amusement, narrowing her eyes playfully. "My name is Crowpaw. I've got two siblings named Rainpaw and Sagepaw. What's your name?" She knew the answer to that, of course, but she wanted to hear what Echokit had to say.

Echokit >>
Echokit looks up at Crowpaw and her big amber eyes start to glow with admiration ”So you are an apprentice then, I thought for sure you were a warrior... You’re so much bigger then me.” Echokit suddenly gets distracted as a leaf starts to fall from the sky, she couches flat to the ground and leaps at the leaf. She turns back to Crowpaw ”I am Echokit, I will be the leader of the clan one day.” she puffs her chest out proudly. ”Please tell me what it is like to an apprentice? Can you take me outside of the camp I’ve been dying to out there since I’ve opened my eyes.”

- Stormcloud // camp
It had been an uneventful morning. Stormcloud had woken up at the crack of dawn (as per usual, the she-cat normally had troubles with sleeping) and headed out early enough for a quick hunt, but sadly it seemed to be an unsuccessful morning as she only managed to catch one large mouse that she held between her jaws. Starclan must be after me today, considering I can usually catch at least three pieces of prey when alone. Her ears flicked angrily as she padded through the camp entrance; making her way to the fresh-kill pile. As she dropped the fuzzy mouse, she couldn't help but still feel dissatisfied even if the mouse was big enough to be shared between two cats. She let out a small "Hmph," and started cleaning out the pieces of fur from her claws. When she was finished with her quick grooming, she quickly stretched out her legs and began to search around the camp for her apprentice; hoping that Breezepaw was already awake. Her eyes landed upon the black and white apprentice and she flicked her tail with gratitude. At least she's up early, this means in the future I might be able to take her out with me in the mornings. She quickly made her way over to her unique-looking apprentice, but she hadn't even noticed Gulldrift until she had already approached the two. "Goodmorning," she purred while sitting next to Breezepaw. "I'm glad that you're already awake, I'm thinking we should start the day off with some hunting practice. We'll see if you can catch more prey then I have today," The she-cat spoke in a teasing tone, hoping that her apprentice would get excited from this small challenge. After speaking, she then shifted her gaze to Gulldrift and began to spark a friendly conversation. "I see you're up as well, Gulldrift, how are you?" Stormcloud thought about inviting the older tom with them, but she didn't think he would find it very interesting to watch her train Breezepaw.
- Rainpaw // apprentice's den → camp
The young apprentice slowly opened his eyes in a daze. He had been napping a little too late for his own liking but was awoken suddenly from a kick to the side, then a quick apology. "Ugh." He let out an annoyed but teasing meow as he gently rose to his feet, continuing with a stretch to wake himself up a little more. With a quiet yawn, he carefully attempted to exit the younger cats den but found himself struggling as many apprentices continued to sleep in their mossy beds. Careful now, don't want to cause any morning disputes. As he stealthily exited the den, he found himself wincing in the morning light- unable to make out the cats who chatted away in the camp. By the time Rainpaw's eyes adjusted, he had realized that his mentor was nowhere to be seen and he let out a small sigh of relief. Looks like I can take it easy this morning. He purred happily and began to walk around; searching for someone to chat with, or someone to help him cause a little mischief.

Graystar // As Graystar finished speaking, he saw the medicine cat poke her way out of her den. There was a glint in the she-cat's eyes--she looked a bit frazzled, but the tom wasn't sure if it was just Paleflower adjusting to being awake, or something deeper. He wanted to ask, but he wasn't sure if it was the right moment. As the clan's medicine cat, Graystar often spoke with Paleflower about clan matters and considered the she-cat to be a good friend of his. The leader had found himself coming to rely on her, seeing her as a steady paw and a level-headed cat. He hoped that nothing was seriously wrong or plaguing her.
He instead dipped his head in greeting, deciding to test the waters. "Good to see you, Paleflower. How are you this morning?" Graystar caught her eyes, hoping the silent message, Are you alright?, was coming through. There was just something, maybe it was simply her aura, that ruffled Graystar's fur and made his tail tip twitch anxiously.
- Camp // w/Graystar & Sagepaw
As Paleflower took her first step into the outside world, she realized that she came face to face with her leader and wasn't necessarily prepared. Before replying, she quickly licked the fur on her shoulder to try and flatten it down, then she sent Graystar a small smile. "Graystar, good morning. I'm not used to sleeping in this much, so I'm a little out of place- my apologies." Although Paleflower had grown up with Graystar, she felt as if his position as a leader put a barrier between them, however, also opened up other discussions as the two of them were considered to be essential cats to Puffinclan. She rested her tail over Sagepaw's as a small greeting, but she continued on with Graystar in a more quiet tone. "I may need to have a discussion with you at a later time," she shot him a very quick, but serious look, before continuing on, "The sooner the better, but try not to worry about it too much. Whenever you have the time: you'll know where to find me." She left that conversation alone for the time being, then continued on with her apprentice. Facing Sagepaw, Paleflower let out a small purr, "We might need to search for a few herbs today, as we're running a little low on Borage leaves for the Queens. We should look out for some Chervil leaves as well because we want to be prepared for any wounded warriors." As she finished, the medicine cat felt more relaxed and let out a small sigh.

Breezepaw was about to accept Gulldrift’s offer, when Stormcloud suddenly showed up, much to Breezepaw’s surprise. The apprentice listened to her mentor, eyes brightening when hunting was mentioned. Hunting was Breezepaw’s favorite type of training, as it was oddly calming and always put her mind at ease in stressful situations. “Of course, Stormcloud,” she replied, dipping her head to her mentor. “Hunting sounds nice.” The apprentice stood up after drawing a paw over her whiskers a few times to ready them for the hunt, eager to head out.

Sagepaw >>
Sagepaw leaps to her paws once Paleflower finally exits the medicine cat den. She quietly observes both Paleflower’s and Graystar’s body language while Paleflower talks to Graystar about something Sagepaw doesn’t manage to hear. Paleflower seems a bit shaken up, I wonder what that can be about...
Once Paleflower turns to address her, Sagepaw looks her mentor deep in the eyes and slightly crooks her head to the left is everything okay...?Sagepaw listens keenly to their duties for today and slightly bows her head. ”Sounds great to me! Perhaps if StarClan guides us we can also find a place to communicate with our ancestors while we gather all the herbs we need!”

Crowpaw laughed gently at Echokit's preparation to be leader one day. "I'm sure you'll be a wonderful leader, chasing all the rogue leaves for us," she joked. When the little kit was finished speaking, the dark she-cat shook her head with a frown. "I don't think I can," she admitted. "I can't even leave by myself as an apprentice. I don't want to be responsible if something happens to you." Her green eyes lit up. "But I can definitely still tell you about being an apprentice."

Echokit >>
Echokit let out a mrrow of laughter ”Leaves don't stand a chance against me!” Echokit felt her body sink when Crowpaw revealed that even apprentices were unable to leave the camp unsupervised I want an adventure of a lifetime and I would like to see any cat try to stop me... she flicks her tail impatiently, the kit would do anything to grow up already and be able to do things on her own.
Perhaps I can sneak out of the camp tonight, or find someone who will be willing to take me out... she quickly glanced around the camp and spotted a small black tom. She turned back to back to Crowpaw, her amber eyes glowing from excitement, she was about to learn about being an apprentice, the first step to one day becoming leader. ”Please tell me everything!” she squeaked loudly.

camp // to Sagepaw
Paleflower noticed the concerned look in her apprentice's eyes, she then wondered if it would be appropriate to share her experience with Sagepaw. I chose her, therefore she herself will also have her connections with Starclan. If not now, then eventually... Once she realized she was losing her train of thought, she quickly pulled herself together. Maybe I won't give her the full story, but if the conversation strikes up I shouldn't be hiding things. After Sagepaw replied, Paleflower couldn't help but feel a warmth in her chest. It made her feel happy to see a young cat so interested in things that a warrior would normally find boring or useless to learn. "You're right," she said in a kindhearted tone, "We won't go out of our way to search, but if the opportunity arises we should definitely follow what our instincts tell us to do." Before continuing on, Paleflower glanced at Graystar with a smile, as if she wanted to exclaim: "Look at this one! Look at how well she will do!" It would have been an understatement to say that Paleflower wasn't excited to train an apprentice, and it was easily seen in her pride. She then turned to Sagepaw and continued to explain her plans for today's training. "I'll show you how to differentiate the herbs by scent today. It's a difficult thing to learn, but if you have a good nose it shouldn't take too long to remember."

gulldrift | accompanied by stormcloud & breezepaw So much for that plan, Gulldrift thought, making note of Stormcloud's presence. He stayed silent as Breezepaw and her mentor discussed their plans for the day, thinking of an alternate plan or idea that he could use while with the mentor and apprentice. He didn't have many options which, he supposed, wasn't the best thing for him but it did work out for Stormcloud and Breezepaw. His attention snapped back to the warrior who was now speaking to him, asking how he was doing. A bit of nervousness rose in the tabby's chest as he did his best to form a response. "Stormcloud! Actually, I'm doing quite well today. How are you?" he mewed, sounding more capricious than he meant to. "Breezepaw and I were actually going to go look for you, but it seems that you found us first." A small mrrow of amusement followed.
Gulldrift knew that Stormcloud and Breezepaw were going to go out for a hunt together, and if he were to tag long, he felt that it would be intrusive on his part. He didn't dare ask to tag along, but maybe he could make his way out of camp at the same time. The senior warrior shifted his paws uneasily before he spoke up. "Mind if I follow you two out of camp? I, uh, should get something done today. Standing around all day won't do me any good." [ OOC ]

shaledust | accompanied by whitesea Shaledust wasn't too worried about her second litter like she had been about her first. Though her first litter only produced one kit, that didn't mean it wasn't grueling. Hopefully this time would be easier, especially for Dashflight for obvious reasons, ones that he didn't know of yet. A mrrow of amusement rose in the feline's throat, "You're right, I can definitely tell that they will be as much trouble as the others in the nursery right now."
The queen was observing Whitesea when she saw her ears fall flat. It left her to wonder what she had been thinking of that triggered some sort of an action that seemed wistful to Shaledust. However, she could be wrong though it left an itchy feeling in her grey pelt as if she had to ask the molly what was wrong. To say the least, she was a tad nosy. I suppose I could ask her. No harm, no foul... right?
At the sound of "fresh air," the fluffy feline's ears pricked up and her yellow eyes gleamed with elation. "Really, Whitesea? You're willing to take little ol' me out into the territory for a walk?" she teased, plumy tail flicking rapidly behind her. "I'm more than willing to tag along! I'm pretty sure if I stay any longer in the nursery or camp that I'm going to lose it. Plus, I could go on for moons about how boring it is to sit around in the nursery and wander around the camp. It's definitely a story I'd rather not tell more than once. When you're ready, you can take the lead." Within seconds of taking the grey molly up on her offer, Shaledust was on all four paws and eyeing the camp entrance as if it were the last piece of prey on the fresh kill pile. She was that sick and tired of being cooped up. [ tags: Aria ]

- camp // w/Breezepaw & Gulldrift
Stormcloud nodded at her apprentice and edged a little closer with a funny glint in her eye. "We might have to make a little competition to see who can catch more prey today," She had taken Breezepaw out before and taught her a few tactics and it was noticeable that the young apprentice enjoyed being out hunting, but she still had more to learn. "I'll review some steps with you, but if you get the hang of it quickly I'll let you try it out on your own. I'll be watching from afar and giving you some guidance if you need it." She then rose to her feet as Breezepaw seemed prepared to leave camp, but before walking off Stormcloud continued to speak with Gulldrift. "I'm glad you're doing well, I know many cats are getting more and more tired by the day. Myself included," she let out a small laugh, then sighed. "I'm doing alright, but my sleeping habits have been odd lately. Every morning I end up hunting at the crack of dawn." Stormcloud began to slowly walk towards the camp entrance, expecting the two cats to follow, but she turned back around to face Gulldrift when she noticed that he was becoming unsure of himself. She shot him a small smile after the tom spoke then began to say a teasing reply. "You are getting old, Gulldrift, I guess everyone needs to stretch their legs out every once and a while," she then began to laugh, "Of course you can follow along, I just don't want to bore you with my hunting lectures."

Sparrowchirp // exiting warriors' den // with Mousefoot [& open for interaction] --- Sparrowchirp didn't often make a point of showing too much affection, even to her siblings. It wasn't that the she-cat didn't care--she loved Mousefoot and Whitesea, and had very fond memories of the three of them running amok when they were all apprentices. When it came to expressin her love, however, Sparrowchirp often stuttered. Being openly affectionate was something that didn't come naturally to the warrior, but she was working on it. She wanted her brother and sister to know that she appreciated them and the fact they put up with her.
The she-cat felt a rush of warmth flood her at Mousefoot's gesture, feeling thoroughly safe and cared for--like a kit being groomed by their mother. It was an odd comparison considering that Mousefoot was like a kit himself, but the tom was better at showing brotherly love, and Sparrowchirp wasn't going to be mad about it.
"I suppose you're right," the she-cat murmured softly. Sparrowchirp appreciated that Mousefoot seemed ready to jump and protect her from any threat--it was just a shame that the real danger was Sparrowchirp's own mind.
Sparrowchirp registered her brother's last comment and immediately turned her head to survey the warriors' den, taking note of the cats that were still sleeping--or, well, trying to. She hadn't seen Gulldrift shoot them the stink-eye, but she could assume from Mousefoot's remark that the two siblings had disturbed some of the warriors. The she-cat nodded and got to her paws, shaking her fur out to dislodge some moss before giving her chest a few quick licks.
She stepped out of the den and into the clearing, her gaze taking in the hustle and bustle as the clan slowly but surely roused itself for another day.
[ - - - ]
Graystar // camp // exiting from Paleflower & Sagepaw, entering w/Littlepaw, Badgerslash, & Sootpaw
--- Graystar wanted to tell Paleflower not to worry--the leader himself was the type to sleep in as well, but he decided against it. He didn't want to reinforce a picture of himself that was lazy or the type to slack off. It was true that the tom was still adjusting, but he intended to be strong, confident, and dependable for his clan.
When the medicine cat mentioned needing to speak with him later, the leader straightened up, his expression turning serious. If Paleflower needed to talk with him in length another time, then Graystar was certain that whatever was on the she-cat's mind was very important. He was itching to just throw rationality to the wind and demand to speak with Paleflower right now, but Graystar restrained himself. He was aware that now was not the right time--he didn't know how close Paleflower and Sagepaw had grown, nor how confident Paleflower was in sharing confidential material with the apprentice. The leader knew he needed to be patient, but it was difficult.
Graystar trusted Paleflower, though, and if the she-cat said that they could post-pone their talk until later, than he was willing to wait until a more convenient opening presented itself. "Of course, Paleflower. I know you have a busy day ahead of you--both of you." The leader smiled at Sagepaw and lightly flicked his tail over the she-cat's ear. He was proud of the younger cat--she seemed so devoted to her position and the clan already, and it eased the tom's heart to know that PuffinClan had two great medicine cats in its midst. He returned Paleflower's proud look before continuing.
"I won't take up any more of your time." Graystar dipped his head in farewell before padding across the clearing, meowing a few greetings to cats as he passed them by.
His gaze settled on Littlepaw, Badgerslash, and Sootpaw, and the leader suddenly jolted to a halt. Great StarClan, I can't believe I forgot! Immediately the tom felt a touch of shame course through him. He had intended to assign Littlepaw a teacher first thing this morning--the she-cat had been without a mentor for a few sunsets now, due to the passing of her old one. The mentor, a she-cat named Nettlefur, had passed away after being bitten by a snake. The clan had mourned Nettlefur in the following days, but Graystar had completely neglected re-assigning a new mentor for Littlepaw.
Changing his course, the tom headed over to where the three cats were gathered and caught the end of Badgerslash's sentence. "Ah, actually, I was wondering if Littlepaw could stick around for just a moment?" Graystar gave them all small smile before casting his gaze over to Littlepaw. "I believe you've waited long enough, Littlepaw. It's time for you to receive a new mentor."

Mousefoot;; in camp with sparrowchirp; transitioning to crowpaw and echokit
Emerging from the warrior's den into the light of camp, Mousefoot squinted his eyes against the sunlight. He paused just outside the den to shake out his short fur, grooming down a ruffled patch on his shoulder from where he'd slept on it. His tail curled high over his head as he looked over the cats in camp, searching for his apprentice.
"I'm planning to take Crowpaw out to practice hunting, if you'd like to join us," he said to his sister as he looked. His whiskers curled, eyes scrunching up mischievously. "You can see what it's like to have an apprentice!"
Mousefoot had been surprised at first to be one of the first of his siblings to receive an apprentice; surprised, and then overjoyed and proud in equal measure. He had thought for sure that one of his sisters would be the one to receive the honor first: Sparrowchirp, with how hard she works and how determined she is to prove herself, or Whitesea, with her gentle and nurturing nature. He'd even thought that it would be a poor fit, that he'd prove to be a terrible mentor and Graystar would have to reassign Crowpaw to a warrior with more experience and discipline. His first few lessons had probably been terrible in retrospect, with how nervous he was.
But Crowpaw was an amazing apprentice. He never felt that she was judging him when he stumbled or stammered, and that had allowed him to relax and gain some confidence in his mentoring. He was certain she would make an exceptional warrior someday, and very little of it would be thanks to him.
He sighted her finally and purred. "Ah, there she is." Mousefoot paused when he saw she had company--wasn't that one of the kits? What was she doing out of the nursery? He was curious but he hung back, ears flicked forward to listen to their conversation.

Sparrowchirp was enjoying the bit of sun that was peeking through the tree tops, allowing the rays to warm her fur as the sun continued to climb higher in the sky as the morning fully set in. She sighed softly, content. This was going to be a good day--it had to be. Sparrowchirp wouldn't let a dumb nightmare ruin her outlook. She had her brother (even if he was mildly irritating at points) and her clan, she had everything she needed to be happy.
At Mousefoot's invitation, the she-cat perked up a bit. Excitement bubbled under her pelt and she flicked her ears, ready to give the tom an affirmative answer. Sparrowchirp was itching to be productive--the she-cat wasn't one to just stand around and do nothing all day. As nice as it was to sun-daze for the moment, the warrior was already beginning to feel antsy. Sparrowchirp needed to stay busy, and going out hunting with her brother and his apprentice seemed like a great course of action.
"I'd love to-" Sparrowchirp cut off as Mousefoot delivered his little teasing remark, and the she-cat simply rolled her eyes. A small smile was on her face, though. It was true that Mousefoot had been the first out of the three siblings to receive an apprentice, and while Sparrowchirp would've loved having a cat to mentor, she was truthfully very proud that Mousefoot had the honor before them. Sometimes the she-cat got the feeling that Mousefoot didn't believe in his abilities as much as he should, and the warrior was hopeful that having an apprentice would help show Mousefoot just how capable the tom was.
"Haha, very funny." Her tone was dry, but her gaze was fond. "Very well, I'll accompany you as you train your apprentice." She may not have expressed outright enthusiasm, but the she-cat was buzzing. There was just something so freeing about being out in the territory, gliding across the open moors and watching the horizon over the edge of the Sea Cliffs.
Sparrowchirp hung back to watch as her brother began to approach his apprentice, her head tipped to the side curiously as she too observed Crowpaw with Echokit. The kit sure had a lot of spunk for a cat so young.

- camp // Graystar → Sagepaw
Paleflower immediately noticed Graystar's change in stature as after she explained her situation, but she had hoped that he could keep his cool until they speak later in the day. The she-cat was still unsure of what exactly happened in her dream, it could've been something unimportant because she's had Starclan on her mind, or it could have been a vision; she needed his input to see if this really was a sign, but now was not the time. She was grateful to see him continue on with the conversation and nodded to him as he began to take off. "I'll be back between Sunhigh and Sundown." When he had left to speak to a few other clan members, Paleflower turned back to her apprentice. "Are you ready to leave, if we go now?"
