Graystar //
It was stunning to hear Sagepaw admit to feeling useless. It was even more heart-wrenching to hear her doubts about being a good medicine cat. It made the leader feel some bitterness towards StarClan for making the apprentice feel so unworthy--she showed plenty of potential, and it would be awful if the situation further disheartened Sagepaw. "Sagepaw, you will have time to practice speaking with StarClan. We will find a solution, and when we do, Paleflower will be able to teach you how to contact our ancestors with just a twitch of your whiskers."
"You needn't doubt yourself, Sagepaw. Just being so conscious of the clan's issues, and taking them to heart, is a sign that you are going to make a wonderful medicine cat." The tom was hoping that Sagepaw continued to maintain such a large heart for her clan--he wasn't lying when he said it was a quality perfect for a medicine cat.
At her words of praise, Graystar suddenly felt bashful. He didn't feel very wise, but he appreciated the she-cat's kind words, and the fact that his own had seemed to help her in some way. "Thank you, Sagepaw. PuffinClan is grateful to have you training to be our medicine cat." He was confident that the she-cat would be a brilliant medicine cat in the future, and under the guidance of Paleflower, Graystar was certain the clan was in good paws. It reassured the leader to know that he wasn't alone in taking care of PuffinClan's well-being--he had the best group of cats with him to ensure the clan's survival.
Graystar gave Sagepaw a smile before continuing. "Have you enjoyed your training so far?"

[ I'm gonna post Stormcloud's and Rainpaw's together but I wanted to post this one first ] - Paleflower // medicine cat's den The normally calm she-cat let out a low growl in her sleep. She tossed and turned in her nest, causing the moss to fly out in pieces and creating a bit of a mess, but the odd thing was her reactions to whatever sort of dream she was having. Her fur would raise then lower by the minute, while her claws continuously flexed no matter what position she lay in. Who are you?! Her voice called out, but not into the outside world- it had been in whatever dimension her dream took place in. The scene then changed to what Paleflower saw: she was outside in the woods, but the sky was dark. Everything was dark. Her sleek body stuck out like a sore thumb as she slowly walked towards something. The closer she edged on, the farther it would be, but eventually she could make out the outline of a cat. Another growl arose from her throat, but she was quickly cut off by a ethereal voice. "Hush now, young one. It is not your time." Paleflower suddenly lost her ability to speak, and although her ears lay back protectively, she didn't feel as if she were endangered. The cat figure sat down with its back facing her. It let out a small howl which rung through the silence, and Paleflower immediately sat down against her will. "The times are changing, remember to follow the Sea, young Puffin." The cat continued to speak, but Paleflower began to fade away into reality. She felt as if she were missing something important, but there was no way for her to hear. There was a barrier between her and the other reality, or her and Starclan. Suddenly, she woke up with her eyes wide and chest heavily breathing. She slowly rose to her paws and stared at the ground beneath her. I need to find where we can speak to Starclan. I feel as if a prophecy is arising. Her eyes winced against the bright sunlight peering into her den, and she slowly walked out; searching for her apprentice.

Sagepaw >>
Sagepaw's heather-blue eyes instantly lit up, smiling up at Graystar. "My training is going great! Paleflower took me out to gather herbs yesterday, I really think I am getting a hang of memorizing all of the different herbs and how to use them in battle" Sagepaw cuts herself off and slowly turns her head back to the medicine cat den, wondering when Paleflower will wake up.
She turns back to face Graystar "She was actually supposed to take me out at dawn, I wonder where she is at."

Graystar //
Graystar purred in amusement at Sagepaw's enthusiasm. He was glad to hear that the she-cat was enjoying her training and learning a lot from Paleflower. "I'm sure she has her paws full with you." At the apprentice's second statement, the leader couldn't help but mrrow with laughter. "Give your mentor time, Sagepaw. If Paleflower's sleeping habits are anything like mine, she'll need a few minutes to fully rouse herself." It was true, at least on the leader's behalf--the tom loved sleeping in, and it was just another adjustment he was gradually trying to make. He needed to be up earlier to organize patrols with his deputy, but Graystar still found himself dozing longer than he should.
As Graystar finished speaking, he saw the medicine cat poke her way out of her den. There was a glint in the she-cat's eyes--she looked a bit frazzled, but the tom wasn't sure if it was just Paleflower adjusting to being awake, or something deeper. He wanted to ask, but he wasn't sure if it was the right moment. As the clan's medicine cat, Graystar often spoke with Paleflower about clan matters and considered the she-cat to be a good friend of his. The leader had found himself coming to rely on her, seeing her as a steady paw and a level-headed cat. He hoped that nothing was seriously wrong or plaguing her.
He instead dipped his head in greeting, deciding to test the waters. "Good to see you, Paleflower. How are you this morning?" Graystar caught her eyes, hoping the silent message, Are you alright?, was coming through. There was just something, maybe it was simply her aura, that ruffled Graystar's fur and made his tail tip twitch anxiously.

Before the first shed of sunlight glittered its way into the camp that Puffinclan called home, the white warrior was up and thinking- his mind racing with the worst of thoughts, as per usual. He had made his way out of the den and circled to the side, before laying on the ground besides the den. He closed his eyes and let out a small sigh as the warm breeze pulled at his pelt.
Snowstreak didn't think any other warrior would be up at this time, but he noticed the bramble bush shake as his brother made his way out. It didn't seem like Dashflight didn't notice him. Almost relieved, he let out a little sigh. He was almost feeling more relaxed now that he didn't have to talk to the tom- especially not after the new he heard from his brothers mate. The kits were his- not his brothers.
Standing, the white warrior shook himself out, feeling more awake now than he did when he got out of the warriors den. He needed to get out of camp and keep his mind busy. I could go hunting. I just hope I don't run into my brother out there. He thought before exiting the camp and into the forest. He paused, thinking where he could hunt. Forest, or moor? He questioned. He decided on the moor and started towards the open grassland again, his ears twitching as his mind raced with thoughts. Anything to get him to stop thinking of his little secret- the one he wish he didn't have in the first place. Littlepaw was exhausted to say the least. She was curled up in her nest, shaking. Not due to being cold, no, but from the dream she seemed to be having. A war was playing in her mind, cats rushing around, wailing, screeching and telling her to back out of the battle. She felt heavily scarred and terrified. The stench of blood filled her nostrils before she was shaken awake by her own gasp. Her fur bristled and she looked around quickly, blue eyes wide.
A small sigh let Littlepaw as she rested her head down again, blinking away the sleep from her eyes. She wasn't going to try and sleep again, not now. She was having the reoccuring dream, and she just wanted it to stop. But, there wasn't much she could do. Littlepaw just had to brave through it now.
Standing, the small ginger tabby slipped out of the den, almost tumbling over Rainpaw. She mumbled an apology and frowned. Slipping out into the clearing, the small tabby stretched and sighed. She looked around. Maybe some cat will take me out, since Graystar hasn't assigned me a mentor yet. Little thought lowly before sitting down and grooming herself. She'd wait a bit to see if any other cats were getting up any time soon, as it was just breaking dawn- the faint light warming her pale cream tabby pelt, blue eyes half shut and her pupils slit in a state of comfort and enjoyment.

[ -` percy ´- .✫ 🌊 : Thank you. :3 I'm so excited for some Snowstreak/Dashflight brotherly interaction. ^^ ]
Graystar // the moors // with Snowstreak The water was cool against Dashflight's paw as he swiped it through the river once more. The tom had been successful in catching a fish, but the rest seemed to have already wised up to his presence and were keeping clear of his paw. It made the warrior's ear twitch in frustration--it would have been nice to come back to camp with more than just one fish, but it was better than nothing. It was prey, and it would feed one of his clanmates--there wasn't much else he could ask for. He decided to try one more attempt and remained as still as possible, double-checking his position to make sure he wasn't casting any shadows over the water.
Splash! The tom's paw struck out and sliced through the water, and a second fish flopped onto the bank. Thank StarClan! Dashflight quickly ended the fish's life, feeling satisfied that he would be returning to camp with at least two fish. He was sure he wouldn't be able to get more--the ruckus he had made with his second catch surely would've scared the rest of them off.
Picking up the two fish in his mouth, Dashflight headed away from the river and padded across the moors, the sun finally peaking through the mist as it rose over the horizon.
As he was walking, a sudden scent wormed its way through the fish smell clogging his nostrils. The tom halted in surprise as he recognized the scent of his brother. Snowstreak? Dashflight's tail flicked excitedly. It had been awhile since the two had gone hunting together on the moors, and Dashflight set down the fish to get a better read on his brother's location.
He inhaled deeply, and then picked up the fish once more before following the scent trail until he saw his brother up ahead. Dashflight quickly approached the tom, and once he was just a few tail-lengths away, dropped the fish from his jaws.
"Snowstreak!"

Mousefoot;;
He was having a dream.
It was a rather nice dream, actually. The sort that's full of fat rabbits too lazy or stupid to run; and also, tangentially, lots and lots of eating. It was one of the better dreams he'd had lately, so Mousefoot was understandably annoyed when something woke him up.
He lifted his head, squinting blearily, and turned in his nest to look towards the source of the disturbance: his sister. He couldn't say he was surprised. Sparrowchirp was twitching in her sleep, twisting occasionally. One of her hind legs had kicked him during one of these twists--that must have jolted him awake. A moment later she bolted up, panting for breath, startling him. He flicked his ears forward and watched her for a moment, head cocked to the side--and then he reared his own hind leg back and kicked her in the haunch. Retribution.
"Some of us were having a nice dream," he said, twitching his whiskers in a show of annoyance he didn't really feel. He was her brother, it was his job to give her a hard time. He chose to ignore the little seed of worry in his chest that had begun to sprout at the look on her face. "What was it this time? Bugs? Were you being eaten by bugs? I have that one sometimes."

Breezepaw groaned in complaint when the sun shone into the apprentice’s den and directly onto her eyes. The black she-cat shuffled around in her nest until she was facing the back wall of the den before getting up and stretching for a bit. When she was done adjusting her eyes to being open, grooming her fur, and making sure she didn’t look like a total train wreck, she made her way out of the den and into the camp. She stretched her body so her back and shoulders were reaching up to the warm greenleaf sun, appreciated how well her dark fur absorbed the heat.
She looked around the camp, different-coloured eyes scanning the clearing, the amber one with a somewhat intimidating glare, and the green one with a soft, friendly gaze. It seemed she was one of the first few cats up. She puffed up her fur a bit in pride, noting how she got up before her brother Sootpaw today. The she-cat drifted off into her own thoughts, waiting for her mentor’s, or anyone else’s, arrival.

[ Ahh I already love Mousefoot. <3 x'D ] Sparrowchirp // warriors' den // with Mousefoot Sparrowchirp, for her part, didn't notice that she had awoken her brother. The she-cat was still trying to settle her racing heart, and had nearly done so when something knocked into her hindquarters and made her fall forward in her nest. "Oomph!" She got a face full of moss and her pulse began to race once more, though for a very different reason this time.
The she-cat sat up again, narrowing her eyes at the bit of moss that clung to her muzzle. She twitched her nose in an effort to dislodge the clump and was eventually successful, but not before making an amusing sight, surely. Once Sparrowchirp registered that her brother was awake, she opened her mouth to greet him, but immediately snapped her jaws shut when he began to talk.
Upon hearing his jibes, Sparrowchirp narrowed her eyes. She realized he must've been the source of the kick she felt earlier and irritation spiked. It wasn't anything major--Sparrowchirp would be over it soon. But, for the moment, the she-cat couldn't help but be frustrated with Mousefoot, and also a bit embarrassed that her rustling from the bad dreams must've woke him up.
"I wasn't dreaming of bugs!" Sparrowchirp snapped, ear flicking in irritation. The thought of bugs eating her, though, did make her fur crawl. She shivered and tried to brush the feeling away. The she-cat focused back on the tom. "I was just dreaming, okay?" The warrior didn't want to concern her brother with her dreams, and besides, she didn't feel like revealing that much vulnerability anyway.
When the she-cat stopped to think about what Mousefoot had said, Sparrowchirp glanced at her brother in confusion, her frustrations already forgotten. "Mousefoot, what other weird dreams do you have?" Being eaten by bugs had to be one of the more odd ones, right? Then again, Sparrowchirp wasn't sure--her brother himself could be a bit strange, but she loved him for it.

Mousefoot;; warrior's den with sparrowchirp
Mousefoot's nose twitched his amusement when Sparrowchirp turned her glare on him, the tip of his tail flicking back and forth. Her defensive answer didn't deter him in the slightest. It was just a fun mystery, now. He'd either get it out of her eventually or come up with far more interesting possible-answers in his head.
At her question he shuffled in his nest before rising for a luxurious stretch, his back arching high and jaws parting wide. "Mmh, you know," he said, blinking drowsily and sitting to scratch at his ear with a paw. "There's the bugs, only sometimes they're birds, and other times it's, uh, the earth goes soft? Like water, and I sink and then it goes hard again and I can't get out." He yawned again. "Anyway. Are you gonna tell me what you were just dreaming about, or do I have to guess? I can guess. You know I'm good at guessing."
He leaned forward, fixing her intently with wide green eyes, and stared very hard for a long moment.
He blinked, ears flicking sheepishly. "Okay, I'm not good at guessing. Please tell me."

gulldrift | warrior's den > camp clearing Gulldrift could hear the commotion from Mousefoot and Sparrowchirp's nests in the warrior's den which, unfortunately, woke the senior warrior up. He felt groggy, cranky, and that was when he knew today would not be his day. He began grumbling loudly, hoping that his intentional grouchy noise would let the two felines know that they had woken him up from a perfect, peaceful slumber. Soon enough, the grey tabby tom rolled out of his nest, a petulant look crossing his maw easily. He eyed Sparrowchirp and Mousefoot who were rambling on about dreams before slipping out of the den, his bushy tail following closely. Once he was outside of that horrid space that they called a "den," the tom let out a soft sigh. His sleep had been ruined, but that didn't mean the entire day was a loss, right? He quickly licked his fluffy white chest and his copper eyes fell upon the clearing, where he spotted Breezepaw, who must've just woken up and was trying to find her mentor, Stormcloud.
Oh... Stormcloud. Stormcloud was Breezepaw's mentor, he realized. His-- well, not yet-- Stormcloud had an apprentice. A very lonely, bored apprentice who was looking for her mentor... who was no where to be found. This was an opportunity he could take easily and run with, in hopes that they would run into Stormcloud, of course. So, with a little vigor in his step, the mackerel tabby hurried over to the young apprentice as if he was of her age too.
"Hey, Breezepaw!" he meowed breathlessly, forgetting the last time he had sprinted so fast for such a little thing. He took a moment to catch his breath before shaking out his long, messy coat. "Are you looking for Stormcloud?" [ n/a ]

Sparrowchirp // warriors' den // with Mousefoot
Sparrowchirp stared at her brother, feeling a strange mix of amusement and confusion. Birds? Soft earth? He sure dreams of some weird things. But then again, so did Sparrowchirp. And perhaps it wasn't so uncommon to dream of the earth swallowing one whole, right?
The she-cat couldn't help but feel a warmth spread in her chest as her brother spoke, so close to purring just because he made her feel better.
But then he had to question her once more about what she had been dreaming about, and her good mood was dashed. She scowled and turned away from Mousefoot, her tail tip flicking.
"You're so nosey, Mousefoot."
Still, she glanced back at her brother and was caught in his wide-eyed stare, pleading with her. It made Sparrowchirp's scowl melt away. Her brother, honestly, was pretty adorable. He was like a little kit sometimes--hard to say no to.
The warrior huffed. "Alright, fine." She glanced down at her paws, shuffling them a bit. "I...I was dreaming that a fox was chasing me. I couldn't get away." That wasn't the entire story behind her dream, but it was good enough. Sparrowchirp could already feel her pelt warming in embarrassment just from revealing that much to her kin.

Mousefoot;; warrior's den with sparrowchirp
Gulldrift's grumbling exit caught his attention for a moment, and Mousefoot nearly laughed. He didn't think that would go over well with the senior warrior, though, so he kept his mouth shut. It wasn't easy. Luckily Sparrowchirp reclaimed his attention a moment later, or he might have been stuck cleaning up dirt for the foreseeable future. She called him nosy and his eyes went into pleased little slits, like she'd paid him a compliment.
Then she told him about the fox, and his amusement faltered and faded. It wasn't funny like he'd hoped, not easy to make light of. Mousefoot observed his sister's discomfort for a moment. He felt bad that he'd pushed it.
He leaned forward and rasped his tongue over her ear, letting a raspy half-purr escape him, hoping it was comforting. "Well, there aren't any foxes here," he said. "And if there were you'd have their eyes clawed out before Graystar could say 'attack.'" Mousefoot bumped his head into her shoulder and stood, tail waving high. "Come on, we should probably stop chattering in here before someone claws our eyes out."

shaledust | exiting nursery Shaledust wasn't the most... friendly feline as of late. She was unvisibly upset and conflicted. It didn't help that Snowstreak, her mate's brother, was the father of her unborn kits. It didn't exactly sit well with the queen. Her mate had no clue of the discussion between her and his brother which made things feel so different. However, there was one thing she was very sure of-- that she loved Dashflight, not Snowstreak. Explaining that in itself was complicated, heart breaking, and painful. She was hoping for a chance to spend some time with Dashflight, but he was nowhere to be found and the same was said of Snowstreak. So, now that she was faced with alone time or rather, finding a distraction, she padded out of the nursery silently. There had to be someone around here that would accompany her outside of camp, or even inside camp. Being cooped up wasn't that fun for Shaledust, but there wasn't much she could do about that. Unless.. she had someone to follow her around like a little kit. Her yellow eyes scanned the camp for any felines who were about. Gulldrift was busy talking to Breezepaw, and she assumed, the rest were holed up in their proper dens. She didn't blame them, she would be doing the same if she were doing her warrior duties. A feline came to mind, her and Dashflight's first kit, but what if they were busy with their training? It wouldn't be fair to pull them away from learning the skills they needed to thrive in PuffinClan.
The grey she-cat had ran out of options, or at least the ones that came to mind first, so she settled for simplicity-- tiding up the nursery for her fellow denmate and her three kits.

Whiteseaaccompanied by: Shaledust [ Sand ] Whitesea sighed she wake earlier than she posted be yet again. Her bad sleeping habits were becoming a problem but that didn't stop from going her duties. She was eager to patrol again anything to get her mind off of her feelings for him. Graystar was the first leader of Puffinclan and held a special place in her heart. But the clan needed more than her, they need their leader and yet she could help to want him all to herself. I guess I'm just selfish. The thought stung her heart. He knew of her feelings for him and returned them. The clan is first before any love. The grey molly gazed onto her leader as she sat counter of camp. She truly hoped that one day their hearts would sing again.
Before Whitesea's mind could up with anymore excuse to procrastinate, she left the area walking near the nursery, only to see the queen Shaledust appear. "Hello, Shaledust." She mewed gently. "How are you and your kits doing?"
Sootpaw shot open as he looked around. He was lying in his moss bed alone which meant three things. One, he had overslept so Brezzepaw would probably be training now. Two, he was getting behind in his training. Three, he was going to scold. These reasons all sicked in him to his core. I need to stronger, I must get stronger. There was some much at stake if he were to start slacking off when would his clanmates think. Breezepaw might not of like being a kit to the deputy but he did. He likes the challenges and hardship it brought.
He licked one of his paws trying to calm himself to no avail. Mousebrain! In the second he rose to his feet, claws unsheathed. His bed was destroyed in seconds. I don't need it anyway! I'll just sleep on the ground hard from now on. That when he noticed Littlepaw walking out of the den. Maybe it was just him he wouldn't have gotten so mad but another apprentice. He was boiling hot.
"No." The tom voice darker after the she-cat."You, Littlepaw!" If looks could kill the glare and scowl on his face might. "What do you think you're doing getting late even if you don't have a mentor. You still are trying to make yourself useful and help around instead of lacking off. If you keep this you'll never get a mentor or your warrior name!" Sootpaw already had many cats that hated him so this was nothing new. He had something to pin his own angry least and that was a win in his mind

Badgerslash >>
Badgerslash slept curled up in a little ball, purring warmly in his sleep. He was now the mentor to one of the most difficult clanmates to be near around, not only that but his apprentice, Sootpaw, was also the only son of the deputy.
Maybe I should go take Sootpaw to the training grounds, I am sure he will appreciate that. Badgerslash opened his eyes slowly to reveal his differently colored eyes and dips his head to the other awakened warriors as he exits the den.
He padded over to the apprentice’s den hoping to come across Sootpaw. As he got closer to the den he spotted Sootpaw with Littlepaw. Badgerslash looked down at the apprentices, his size completely towering over them. He touched the tip of his tail to Sootpaw’s shoulder, ”I am taking you to the training ground today, to see how your combat skills are progressing. Afterwards, we will go on hunting patrol.” He glances over to Littlepaw who has yet to get a memtor ”You should come along too Littlepaw.”

Echokit cuddled up next to her littermates, and her mother who had a comforting scent. She let out a protesting mew as her mother rolled over. She could have squished us if she wasn’t careful... Echokit opens her big amber eyes and looks around the familiar surroundings of the nursery, her eyes suddenly landed on the entrance of the nursery. I am going outside today...
Echokit quietly got up from the nest, careful not to disturb her sleeping mother, and started to wobbly walk towards the entrance, at a certain point she realized she would have to climb the rest of the way. She lets out a quick sigh I do not know how to climb... She hesitated before grabbing onto the first rock with her tiny claws and pulled herself up, after a while she finally made it outside”I did it!”she squealed hoping that her mother wasn’t able to hear her. Echokit looked around the unfamiliar surroundings and breathed in the unfamiliar scents of her clanmates. She slowly started to make her way towards the center of the camp hoping to meet a few of her clanmates.

[ I don't have time to get responses up because I have to go to work, but I was reading over what I missed and I realize I made a mistake procrastinating on assigning Littlepaw a mentor. c': Since it has been acknowledged in the roleplay, I don't want to just magically give her a mentor now--it would sit a bit weird with me if I just ignored the characters talking about how she's currently mentor-less.
When I get home, and Graystar is freed up, I'm going to have him do a quick ceremony/announcement to assign Littlepaw a mentor. It'll just give me peace of mind, since it doesn't ignore what's already been acknowledged in the roleplay. ^^;
That was just a case of me being lazy last night, so I apologize. All future apprentices will be assigned mentors pronto. x'D ]

Crowpaw had woken up not long after the other apprentices, but hadn't been able to find her mentor since then. She now sat near the center of the clearing, letting the sun warm her fur. Sometimes she would lazily lick her chest or flank, but she normally wasn't too worried about what her pelt looked like. She sat with her plumy tail around her paws as she gazed around the clearing. She glanced over as Graystar and Sagepaw chit-chatted further away, and narrowed her eyes softly. Perhaps they were discussing a place to connect with StarClan. Even if they weren't, Sagepaw was a wonderful medicine cat apprentice. They would figure it out. After a few moments, the long-haired she-cat turned back to the clearing and narrowed her eyes to slits in comfort, until the tumbling of rocks disturbed her. She turned toward the nursery, ears pricked, then visibly relaxed as she spotted Echokit moving slowly away from the nursery. "Looks like we have an escapee," she purred, blinking warmly to the kit. ( ᴋᴀᴛɴɪꜱꜱ) ((maybe i should claim echokit's mother :3c ))

Breezepaw jumped and her fur spiked up when Gulldrift suddenly appeared, However, she quickly calmed down from the surprise, smoothing out her fur once again. “Oh, yeah, I am looking for Stormcloud,” she mewed. “Do you know where she is?” she asked a bit shyly, as questions weren’t one of her strong suits in socializing. (Apologies for the short reply, couldn’t think of anything to add to it. Also, I’m doing quite alright embercurse ! This is my last day of vacation in California though, I’ve been visiting my uncles for the first week of winter break. I’m not too excited for the two plane trips we’ll have to take tomorrow to get back to Texas, but I am excited to be able to get back to my drawing supplies, as drawing on my iPad isn’t really something I enjoy too much!)
