Lorelei glanced around her, her eyes narrowed. Her face betraying almost no emotion. No one knew about her past, except the officials involved, and her dear family, the Waters, and by extension, that meant one person at this school knew, with the exceptions of some teachers, and that was Alita. Not that she minded Alita knowing, but no one else had any reason to. Her thoughts remained solely glued to that as well. So she didn’t let this thing bother her, at least, she didn’t show that it did.
Regardless, she looked back down at her food. Ignoring the words about the missing boy. She didn’t need to hear it, she already knew. She just tried hard not to remember hearing the gunshots the night her family died. And, oh, wait, those thoughts were now in her mind. She was lost, and stopped poking at her food, trapped in another memory all together.
And then Alita sat down, and she was snapped back to the present. Lorelei offered a light smile, though it didn’t reach her eyes, which were still almost expressionless. She understood the connotation behind Alita’s words. She appreciated it dearly, had it helped remind her that, while she lost her parents, she gained a whole new loving family. And as Lorelei liked to see it, Alita and her own relationship wasn’t like a sibling rivalry, while Lore tended to tease Alita a lot, Alita was like a genuine good sister, a little one at that.
“I’ve been better,” she admitted, though she smiled. Taking a bite of her food, she didn’t want to dwell on the past, no matter how hard it had been to let it go, she never wanted to let it hold her back. And she didn’t, that much was obvious. She still achieved a lot. She was a senior at age 17, and had a very bright future ahead of her. She smiled at Alita, lavender tinted blue eyes crinkling a tiny bit when she smiled, “And how are you, any boys you like, or girl, I don’t judge,” she jested lightly, smirking.
Despite her past, her creativity could lead her to a better future, she knew that much for sure.
(For someone getting attacked or turned I’m happy to volunteer Abbey but if someone else wants to do it I don’t mind it not being her. Just thinking with her doing a lot of reading around the stuff happening it might hold the investigation back a bit.
Also I like the idea of having vampire characters later on and I think an NPC list would be good

Though she tried to hide it, Alita could tell Lorelei was struggling--something that only came from years of living together. Giving her a sad smile, Alita reached out to touch her sister's hand in what she hoped was a comforting way. Suddenly, her eyes lit up, "Oh! I have something for you!" She said, retracting her hand as she leaned over and began digging through her backpack. "It's gotta be in here somewhere..." she mumbled, before finally finding what she was looking for. Holding up a slightly crushed kit kat bar (or insert Lorelei's favorite candy bar lol) she handed it to the other girl. As soon as she had heard about what had happened to Adam, Alita had gone to the vending machine to get something that she hoped would remind Lorelei of how much she was loved and that she wasn't alone. She knew it must be hard on her with all these murders constantly triggering Lorelei's past, so she was doing her best to be there for her. "I know it isn't much, but chocolate always makes me feel better so..." She said, trailing off. Of course there never were truly right words for such situations, but she felt the need to do something.
Once Lorelei changed the subject, Alita blushed and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Oh! Umm. Well, I mean we all have crushes. But I don't think mine even knows I exist." She admitted, lamely, biting her lip as she glanced across the cafeteria at the person she was thinking of.
(lol anyone want to be Alita's crush? Idk who to pick)
Lorelei kept a keen eye out for others. She ignored the commotion then to focus on her sister. She snickered as the candy bar came into sight, her eyes becoming greedy as she all but snatched the kit-Kat from her sister. She quickly ripped open the wrapper and then set it down. She delicately pulled one of the wafers off, but into it and chewed, giving a small sigh of content. She then held out one, offering it to Alita, something which she never did. She never offered a kit-Kat to anyone. This was a sure indicator that her mood was lifting some at least. “I think you earned this, even if it’s taking ‘oh so much’ out of me to give it up,” she added sarcastically, smirking lightly as she held the little water between her pointer finger and thumb, out in Alita’s direction.
When her sister began began talking about crushes, Lore’s face twisted at the comment about everyone having one, and smirked when her sister finished, it was the kind of face that was a sure indicator of a jest. “To begin, not everyone gets crushes. I myself don’t have any, and never have. Then again, that might be related to my...” she trailed off, she was going to say trust issues, but surely Alita already knew about that, so she just left it out. Awkwardly letting the silence continue before smiling again, “Anyways, I don’t have any, but what’s his or her name? Like I said, I’m not judging either way,” she had a grin on her face, she didn’t have anything against same-sex couples, actually, she had no issues with any couples, because her ideals on love were a lot different then most. But it didn’t mean she couldn’t imply anything either. Either way, Lore knew she didn’t care, and she wanted Alita to know that too. Lorelei would never seriously judge Alita on anything like that, and that was downright wrong to do in the first place. Lorelei always thought it was people like that, that tore apart her own world, why would she have any place to do the same?

Alita beamed as Lorelei ripped the candy bar from her hands, glad that her plan to cheer her sister up had worked, at least, to an extent. She watched her begin to eat it, but her eyes widened when the older girl extended one of her coveted kit kats. "You sure?" She asked incredulously, before hesitantly taking the chocolate. "Well, I appreciate your sacrifice," she teased back, before snapping off a bite of the delicious candy.
At first, Alita rolled her eyes at her sister's response. Lorelei claimed to have never, ever had a crush, which Alita had a hard time believing. But she did understand why the girl might shy away from relationships, giving her rocky past. But she didn't press the issue and chose, instead, to answer Lorelei's next question. Glancing over at him once more before she began, Alita began speaking as she unpacked her lunch. "His name is Anthony. He's a grade or two above me I think. Anyways, we've never talked, I just think he's kind of cute." She said, her cheeks turning a slight shade of red as she talked about it.
“A shame,” Abbey said with a sigh in response to Anthony’s words about information still being classified to him despite the fact that he was Mateo’s son. If only he had some useful information for her.
“But you’re right, there must be something more there. Something the police department is keeping from us. I’m going to do everything I can to find out more about what could be happening, and it would be brilliant if you could somehow get your father to let something slip. Just one useful piece of information could make a big difference. If we can figure this out that would be amazing.
“Try and find out why he’s acting weird, do a little bit of snooping this weekend if you can. If you find anything, call me as quickly as you can but ring the home number for my dad’s house rather than my mom’s; Liam and I are at his this weekend.”
Abbey and her brother Liam didn’t visit their father as often as they probably should, but the relationship between him and their mother was very bad indeed. And that wasn’t to mention how Abbey and Liam’s relationships with him had been damaged. She wasn’t looking forward to going there.
Lorelei snickered as Alita thanked Lore for her sacrifice. She was smiling now, rolling her eyes at her sister’s antics. Yet she could tell her sister was skeptic when she herself admitted she never had a crush. Which was, surprisingly true. She had never had any attraction towards anyone, and while she liked some peoples personalities, she never let herself get close enough to anyone to care. She had a feeling she was asexual or demisexual, but she didn’t know, she never got close enough to anyone to ever see them as anything more than an acquaintance or friend. She wasn’t about to start on that though, she didn’t want to talk about herself, she wanted to hear about her sister.
When Alita started talking, Lorelei recalled the name she said. Her eyes widened, and she blinked a few times. She had to make sure, “What’s his last name?” Lorelei asked, the young girl baffled for a moment, her mood seemed to have changed, if only slightly to surprise. She raised an eyebrow, she couldn’t react until she knew for sure.

Alita frowned, "You know, I don't remember. It was something like Anthony Holmes? No...that isn't right. Umm I know it starts with an H. Wait! I've got it. His last name is Harris. Why? do you know him or something?" She asked, peeking back at Anthony before glancing at her sister, who looked shocked for some reason. "Oh gosh, please tell me he's not some like super weirdo or something and I'm gonna regret telling you I had feelings for him," she said, suddenly embarrassed that Lorelei may not approve of him. But she just prayed that there was some other reason the girl had reacted the way she did.
Her eyes trained on Alita as Alita searched for a name. When Holmes was guessed, Lorelei calmed, because maybe it wasn’t that officers kid, because if the officer knew, the kid might know, and that prospect was terrifying and... Well, Lorelei wasn:t breathing now, she said it was Anthony Harris. Alita was talking now about him being a weirdo or something. Lorelei, cutting her dramatics, screwed her eyes closed and took a deep breath. She made sure to be quiet then, “No, it’s not quite like that,” she quickly assured though she would need to warn Alita about his ‘rebel’ like attitude if she didn’t already know, she looked down a moment, she wasn’t close to crying or anything, but she was mildly panicking because she really didn’t like people that she didn’t know personally very well knowing about what happened to her and giving her sympathy, and Anthony might, just maybe know about it. “It’s just, I know that Officer Matteo Harris, one of the officers that responded to the, uh, incident, that he has a kid named Anthony. So...yeah,”
Norman scoffed, tugging some of his papers closer as he began to pile them back up. ”Problems like this don’t just go away on their own, and you cant just ignore them and hope nothing ever happens to you, that’s not how these things work,” he told the two boys, shoving the papers back into his backpack. ”I haven’t had much luck yet, but I’ve mostly spent the last few weeks gathering information.” It had been important to gather information for this, he’d already turned his bedroom into a working office for this, after all, why bother moving it when you could just put a bunch of papers on the walls?
”I’m going to head out to Times Square after school, that seems to be where a lot of this stuff happens, that’s the best place to look for clues,” Norman continued as he gathered up his stuff and put it away. ”Maybe you two are content to leave this alone, but I’m not. Someone out there is actively killing and taking people and we’re just supposed to sit here and do nothing? No, I’m not buying it,” Norman said as he shoved his backpack to the side, having cleared up his belongings.
He paused for a second to look over Percy and Steven - that was what Percy had called him earlier, right? - and then shook his head. ”I don’t know why I’m even talking about this stuff to you two.” Somehow the other boys had gotten him talking, and he still wasn’t entirely sure how. Either way, there was no use in talking to people about things like this. The last time he had tried, he had been told he was nothing but a conspiracy theorist and he needed to get outside more.

Percy held up his hands defensively, though his signature smile never left his face "Hey now, that's what were trained to do. You can't blame me for wanting to leave it to the police." they were high school students, wasn't it the cops jobs to take care of a crazy murderer like this? "Oh, if you're going to look into it more maybe I can help out. I know my way around here pretty well." Percy jumped on the chance to spend more time with Norman. The more time he hung around the loner the more likely he was to become friends with him. "I'm kind of invested in the whole thing now."
( also, as i respond to you semper, i'm gonna add a rule about romance. all types of romance are accepted, but please keep it within forum rules ! i just want to make this clear, as some of us will have chars that'll fall in love with each other ( i mean, we do have a bunch of rowdy teenagers, it's inevitable haha ) )
Steven listened to him carefully, shrugging off the fact he had been so ignorant about the matter. He started to internalize their behavior, and sighed moving away from the table now. "I'll be there." Of course it wasn't very clear, but he had interest in this case now. He hadn't really thought of it before, and as twisted as it was- the thought of a possible serial killer intrigued him "What time?" He insisted for Norman to give him and Percy more information. It's not like he wouldn't be in times square, it's where he spent a lot of his time. Unable to find a place to stay permanently- he roamed around the city a lot, that being one of the places he would find himself. Before Steven left the lunch table, he patted Percy on the back- made a clicking noise in the back of his mouth and pointed a finger gun at him in a goofy manner- winking. "See you two later. Gotta blast."

Smokey Feather: Winter Hawk misophonia is hatred of sound basically. You get at the very least highly annoyed by sounds that most don't consider annoying more of less. Chewing, tapping, breathing, etc. I'm putting it simple but it's a little more complex xD
