(I would like to apologize in advance. Norman isn’t a very nice character at first.)
There it was.
Someone had decided to strike up a conversation with him. Which was funny since typically, when someone walked over to a mostly empty table, surrounded themselves with a whole set up that screamed “leave me alone, I’m working” people left you alone.
But apparently that wasn’t the case here.
Norman exhaled, a breath escaping him and either relief or defeat dripping down his shoulders as he slouched forward. He didn’t look up, instead he tapped his pencil on the cover of his notebook, erasure hitting the red cover and creating a soft thumping sound. ”That’s me,” he confirmed, flipping open his notebook again to write something down before he closed it, placed his pencil behind his ear, and looked up at the man that had spoken to him. ”Let me guess, you’re the nice guy that wants to know everyone and make all the new kids feel welcome?” He took a gander, brow raised slightly.
”Well you don’t have to worry about that here-“ Norman informed and leaned back as far as he could without just tumbling over. ”Carry on with your bubbly little friend mission,” Norman waved his hand in a vague “go away” motion. ”I’m kind of in the middle of something anyways,” He told him, gesturing to the little set up he had going on.
Steven was sitting by himself in the back of the school's lunchroom. He wasn't too keen on interacting at that very moment since a lot was on his mind, he covered the side of his face slouching over: leaning over lone complimentary cheese sandwich.
The past week he hadn't been attending his classes and the shool board was starting to get on his case, but why wouldn't they? Kids were going missing left and right.
He drew invisible circles in front of him before picking up the sandwich. Two pieces of cheap white bread and a slice of "cheese". He stared at it a long time before taking a bite, it stuck to the roof of his mouth.
He was zoned out, not really paying attention to his surroundings, the chatter around him got louder as the lunch period extended.
( I'm not sure who to interact with, so here's some kind of starter. )

Steven could join Percy and Norman if you wanted and it's ok with Smore ^^ )
Ah, he had been expecting something like that. If that had come out of no where he might feel crushed, but Norman radiated that kind of negative energy so it wasn't surprising. Percy was set on his decision and sat down at the other end of the table, his own way of saying it wasn't going to be that easy to get rid of him "I'm actually interested in what you have here. It's not every day someone pulls out this many papers on a lunch table." who knew what kind of things were left on them "The names Percival, by the way. But you can call me Percy." he had lived here his whole life and knew a lot about the city. If Norman wasn't going to even stand him maybe he could use his own knowledge of the area to be helpful.

“Me, too,” Abbey responded “and maybe he is. Either way I want to figure out whatever it is that’s going on around here and I just feel like I’m not getting anywhere. I know there’s something there, and it’s like it’s right under my nose. Something I’m not seeing quite yet.”
When he was talking about his dad investigating the situation, she nodded. She was aware of Anthony’s father being a policeman and of him being part of the ongoing investigations into what was happening.
“Right. Has he said anything? Anything that might be useful? He didn’t mention anything about any interesting evidence or something, did he?”
She just needed a push in a good direction, another lead to research
Seeing the conversation a table away, he was being observant about the interaction between two of his classmates he couldn't help but grin.
The persistent attitude of Percy, trying his best to befriend someone who was trying to push him away only made him inclined to join the conversation. He had to strike.
Pushing himself up vertically, he swung is leg over the bench- grabbed his sandwich and trotted over to the table where the two sat. Enthusiastically he looked at the two, making the air a little awkward and still because of his abrupt movement.
"Hey, couldn't help but over hear the two of you." He grabbed at Norman's papers, an obvious bait for frustration.

Norman pressed his lips together in a frown when the guy - Percy, apparently - sat down across from him. Well there went his plans of a solitary lunch of studying and research. Totally thrown out the window. Goodbye plans, see you later.
The small boy bowed his head down in defeat, reaching a hand up to rub his forehead. ”I should’ve gone outside...” He muttered to himself. After all, if he had gone outside, no one would’ve walked up to him and started up “friendly” conversation. Think next time, Norman, think. The boy sighed again, falling quiet for a few moments longer before getting over himself and looking back to Percy. ”Nice name, Percival,” he retorted. Whether or not he was being sarcastic was still up in the air.
Though, maybe it wouldn’t hurt to be somewhat nice, after all, he probably wouldn’t go away until then. So, after a hesitant pause, Norman continued. ”You’re actually interested in all this stuff?” He questioned, making a vague gesture to his set up again.
Then just like that, his day got even worse by someone else deciding to intervene and join in on the absolutely lovely conversation they were having. Norman grumbled and shot a glare over at the table over. He didn’t know the guy that had spoken up, but it was pretty clear he was talking to them. ”Hey, I couldn’t help but notice that you’re nosy for no good reason,” he snarked back to the other guy. This was followed by another pause as Norman realized that there was no winning in this situation and looked down at the table, tapping his fingers on the notebook for a few moments as if contemplating how bad it would be if he randomly retreated underneath the table.
Finally, he caved. ”I’m investigating,” Norman explained quietly, as if that was a good enough answer for everything.

"Oh, hello Steven." the other teens name came to him quick. He was prepared to intervene if Steven snatching the papers made Norman angry, but it all seemed to work out. When Norman finally said what he was doing Percy tilted his head and asked "Have you found out anything interesting?" he didn't touch the papers, but did crane his neck so he could get a better look at them. The way Norman was speaking about it got him much more interested in it than he had been no more than two minutes ago.
He nodded at Percy, not really knowing his name but recognising his face.
"Hiya." He lifted his hand slightly, but not making too much of a deal with his greeting- more interested in what the boy across from him was talking about now.
His eyes widened a little bit, leaning in as Norman explained himself. He placed down the paper he had held in his hands, instead clasping them together. His eyes wandered up and down the table, catching glimpses of various words listed on the pieces of paper and newspaper.
"What are you trying to figure out anyways?"
In the back of his mind, he knew what he was trying to figure out- but he wanted to hear it for himself.

He had both of their attention now. It wasn’t something he had originally wanted, but he’d be lying if he said it wasn’t somewhat encouraging. Sure he liked to think of himself more of a lone wolf sort of guy, but if given the chance to explain himself, why wouldn’t he?
Norman reached for his papers, collecting them together. ”I’m investigating the recent missing persons cases and the deaths that keep popping up all over the city,” he explained, the faintest of smiles appearing on his visage. ”This-“ he pointed a finger at his board full of papers. ”Is my mobile office. It’s not as complete as my room is at home, but it has the basics. Every newspaper that mentions another mysterious missing person or death, some important papers, and notes I’ve kept, as well as a few pictures I’ve...acquired over the weeks,” he continued, unable to hold back his excitement as he dove into his explanation.
”I only moved here a few weeks ago, but as soon as I heard about everything going on, I got curious. How long has this been going on? Long enough for it to draw attention to a good amount of people, and clearly the police aren’t doing the best job of solving this case-“ they had to be linked, there was no other explanation. ”So I thought, ‘hey, side project,’ and here we are,” Norman finished explaining, showing the two other boys a few different papers and pages in his notebook as he explained, and then when he had finished, he lowered his notebook back down and grinned at both of them.
However it didn’t take him long to realize he had just launched into another ramble and slid down, as if trying to make himself look smaller. He fell quiet for a second, clearing his throat as he looked away. ”Anyways...”

Alita walked into the lunch room, her pastel yellow backpack slung over one shoulder as she scanned the cafeteria for her sister. Well, adopted sister, that is. Spotting the small girl from across the room, Alita made her way towards Lorelei. The school had been buzzing with the news about the missing student all morning. A lot of people suspected the boy had been killed, since the unexplained murders that had been plaguing the city were one of the few explanations people could think of. And since she was familiar with her sister's difficult past--also linked to murder--Alita wanted to make sure that Lorelei was doing okay.
Making her way across the lunch room, Alita smiled at several of her friends, but didn't stop to talk. Her first priority was to check on Lorelei. Once she reached her, Alita set her things down and sat across from her sister, giving her a small smile. "Hey...how are you doing?" She asked, not specifically mentioning that morning's events, but letting her tone indicate that that's what she was talking about.

Ohhh, that's great!)
Percy nodded along as Norman explained his thinking "Everyone around here has heard about all that. It's interesting to see the entire thing laid out like this." he stood up and glanced at the newspaper pieces, his eyes scanning over the words "Honestly I haven't paid as much attention as I should to this. I kinda just... assumed it would stop?" he knew that was a terrible mindset to have, but Percy wasn't the type to worry about something for a prolonged amount of time. Percy would always pay attention to the news, but never had it occurred to him to do something like Norman had started.
He only let out a small scoff, as if he was annoyed with the situation in general. "God, I just wish it wasn't happening. My advisor keeps getting on my ass about attending because of it." Saying this, it showed that he was a bit self centered, he didn't really know anyone that had gone missing so it didn't concern him all that much. He turned his nose to Percy and shrugged, "Me too honestly..." he paused turning back to Norman looked kind of intrigued "Have you figured out anything yet or-?"
Sure, he wasn't very optimistic about his answer but it was worth a try to know, right?
He completely forgot about the sandwich in his hand, but realized it was there again and took another bite; putting it down afterwards.
Anthony shook his head. "He's only really been able to tell me things that have been released. I'm not a special exception to the rules of classification just because I'm his son, all he has told me was that he's gone missing and that they're looking for him." Anthony bit his lip and sighed. "There's obviously more he isn't telling me... he does act really strange whenever I try and bring it up..." Officer Matteo Harris, Anthony's father, had, as he said, acted really weird whenever he had brought the disappearance up in conversation, even when he was looking for comfort. "There does have to be more. He can't just be acting weird for nothing..."
( i think later on in the rp they could find a big clue, like adam's body. or someone in the group could get attacked ? or turned ? and then we can start to make vampire characters that they can interact with i guess , i'm not entirely sure. what do you guys think ? )

I think someone in the group getting turned would be an interesting development. I kinda like the idea of it becoming a mystery type rp as well! Rping them finding clues and having to deal with the vampires sounds fun.)
