"I just need a place where I can skin it myself, maybe a few knives for the job." Shilo was in the butchers shop. She could have, technically, carried the deer that she'd hunted back to her own home and skinned it there, but after a full day of hunting, Venbra was tired, and hungry. Shilo wasn't about to make him do more work than he could handle. After a few more back and forths with the butcher, the raven haired woman finally agreed to allowing him to skin and clean, and cut the animal, at a discounted price. "This better be worth it." She murmured, pulling the coins from her pocket and placing them on the counter. If it wasn't, then there were going to be some issues. The butcher swore, however, that this was far better than her doing the work herself. After all, "what beautiful young woman wanted to get blood on her dainty hands." Shilo narrowed her eyes coldly at that and the butcher dismissed himself to the back area to get ready while Shilo stepped back outside to get Venbra and lead the dragon to the back where the butcher would have better access to it.
_________________________________________ ~Shilo Saga~ Location: Butcher's Shop Interactions: N/A Mentions: N/A ____________________________________________________________________ Venbra's tail whipped back and forth as the dragon waited outside the butcher's shop for Shilo to return. The deer was still strapped to his back, but he really didn't mind. It made it harder for him to sneak a bite though which...which was probably what Shilo had kept the deer strapped on. The Speed Stinger started to pace back and forth until his rider finally returned. He perked up, letting out a gentle growl that sounded similar to a cat's purr. Shilo stepped forward, trailing a gloved hand down Venbra's head until she gently scratched his chin. "Come on," Shilo murmured, leading the dragon to the back of the butcher's shop. The butcher met them there and moments later, the deer was inside, with the butcher. Venbra felt his stomach growl and he turned toward Shilo nudging her with his head. "Come on, Shi, just a snack to tide me over. Don't you have anything?" He asked his rider, knowing full well that she couldn't understand him. Well, not his words anyway. Shilo was smart, and knew Venbra well. Though they couldn't really communicate through words, she still always seemed to understand what he meant. A gentle chuckle, a rare sound from Shilo unless you knew her very well, cut through the air and she rested her hand on Venbra's nose. "No, Ven. But hopefully it won't take long." Venbra snorted in annoyance and removed himself from near Shilo, making sure he was far enough away that she couldn't pet him without moving, giving him the chance to move even further away. He was pouting...__________________________________________________________________

. Ragnol Ulfketil . Rider of Dust Devil the Sand Wraith [ The Village Forge | 【 ᵗʷᶦˡᶦᵍʰᵗ 】 's Astra & Celestial ]
Confusion lit Ragnol’s face the moment he noticed the commander looked nothing but… calm and perchance excited? None of the emotions associated with a near-death experience! It threw him off for a brief moment, before the maiden explained what had truly happened. Immediately his face became awash with color as embarrassment wormed its way into his chest, pressuring it uncomfortably and awkwardly. He smacked his forehead with his palm, as though to scoff himself for not noticing the signs earlier. Of course Astera hadn’t been in danger. Of course Celestial had been playing. Of course this had to have happened to him. This situation had gone from potentially heroic to completely embarrassing, especially after the confusion ridden in his friend; as if he had been supposed to know she’d been safe the entire time. Now his sudden courageous dive came off as rather silly, not to mention ridiculous. Why had he doubted her well-being enough to free-fall off the safety of his dragon? Why hadn’t he trusted Celestial to catch her, like most dragon-to-rider relationships went? It had been so spontaneous… so unlike him. Normally, the blacksmith was never this reckless, but here he was, making a scene because he thought his friend was about to become a pancake across the asphalt. Is that why Dev had been so quick to pluck him from the sky? Had she seen his foolishness and rushed to rescue not only himself, but his dignity and pride? The rider rubbed his face, feeling the heat of his cheeks warm his hands. Not a few miles from his workplace and he was already messing up! At this point, he wouldn’t mind just stashing himself beneath his dragon’s protective embrace, and remaining there until the memory subsided completely. He breathed out a sigh, nuanced with a giggly undertone that came off as rather nervous. Ragnol had honestly not meant to come off as overprotective. He simply saw Astera falling from the sky, with the possibility of getting hurt and rushed in before he could access the situation properly. Perhaps if the two had been closer, like they had been kids. Perhaps if he knew this actually happened, he wouldn’t have been so skittish to begin with. Perhaps if… He trailed off in his thought process and shook himself. No. You full well why you two aren’t close. It’s best for her. But what about him? In his hindsight, he always saw his being there as a potential threat to Astera’s reputation. He didn’t want to ruin something she’d striven so hard to achieve; perhaps reinforced by her not choosing him to be her right-hand. In turn, he was left with a gaping hole in his heart; lonely, despite never usually being alone. He was surrounded by people everyday, but none of them could develop the same, strong bond he had with the lass beside him.
Finally, as those his mental processing had taken its toll, he simply eased into the loam and slumped onto his back with a sigh. Normally, he would’ve started his hunt for the perfect texture of sand for the main ingredient to his glass sculpting hobby. However, he simply took a mental note to investigate later and instead took to patting the sand beside him, kicking up dust particles with the slightly forceful invitation. Peace was what both of them needed at the moment and perhaps it could be achieved by simply lying together on the beach. The landscape was serene enough, with the typical bellow of the waves muted to only a mewl, and the surf crawling up just enough to touch the soles of his boots. He could’ve fallen asleep to the sound and atmosphere, if not for his still racing thoughts casting annoyance up and down his body and the fact his childhood friend was still in his presence; that would be odd, if anything. Instead, Ragnol’s gaze focused on the sky they had just left moments prior, observing the clouds with a rather amused glint.
“Cloud-gaze with me?” The comment came off as more of a request than a question. He hoped Astera wouldn’t find the suggestion stupid, which would be something else to add to his ever-growing list of debacles.{ x } Despite the way the Woolly Howl uttered her words, it was the way she worded them that somewhat made the femme a bit annoyed. She hadn’t known the two were playing, nor could she read minds. Perhaps if she’d receive warning beforehand that it was a simple gimmick, then she would’ve been more sensitive on the topic. Still, the Sand Wraith felt her muscles relax and understanding washed through her. She snapped her wings shut, casting her friend with an apologetic look.
Returning Celestial’s nuzzle was a sandpapery lick that she brushed right across the drake’s cheek.
‘Alright, I admit, maybe I overreacted. But you can't blame me: I didn’t know the two of you were playing, neither did Ragnol. I just worry for him. He’s the closest thing I’ve ever had to an actual family, a brother, if you would. I love him dearly, so seeing him risk his life like that… it’s scary.’
Of course, Dev wasn’t implying the ordeal had been scary. No, she knew full well she could’ve handled that situation easily; one simply dive and she would’ve caught her fallen partner in a matter of seconds. No, what she was referring to as scary was the fact Ragnol would fully risk his life to save another. It was selfless, sure, but Dev was worried to what extent that could go to. Would he leap into a projectile’s range if given the chance to save a friend? The drake was quick, but not breakneck blitz fast. She couldn’t fend off everything and it was concerning to think what could occur if she wasn’t beside her rider. What other shenanigans would he get himself into? She'd been abandoned at a young age, she couldn't loose yet another part of her heart should Ragnol die because of some heroic feat. She'd be left broken, perhaps to the extent of joining him in Valhalla due to the intensity of her grief.
Her contemplative moment was broken by Celestial’s interjection. She shot her a lopsided grin, dark thoughts brushed aside for later. ‘Maybe if you replace fish with yak, then we can talk,’ the dragon teased, back to her normal, bubbly self. She dropped down into a playful crouch. ‘But if fish is a must, I wouldn’t mind. Boar would be a fun teamwork activity though.’ She wriggled the scales right above her eyes, hoping the opposing drake would catch the hint.

Astera Fyrason - Rider of Celestial Solstice the Woolly Howl Black Heart Bay ᔕɿɱƿՆעᗰעς੮ע 's Ragnol & Dust Devil
There was a sudden emotion that swelled in her heart. A soft thumping of pure, calm bliss was long washed away with an excited, quicker boost of rhythmic beats that could be easily detected. Astera loved the thought of confidence and boosting your excitement, although young, she believed it was good for most minds to do it every-so-often. Astera looked up at Ragnol with wide eyes of confusion, her soft gaze only on him at that moment of time, and she observed him closely, catching all of the incredibly handsome features that he used to never have. When a juvenile, Ragnol used to have a round cranium with pinchable cheeks and the widest eyes. No facial hair that one of puberty would meet.
Seeing him place the palm against his head, and hearing the slap when it made contact, her eyes widened even more and she reached forward to pull his hand away from his face. Gently, her hand wrapped around his forearm, and she gently tugged it away from him. Her eyes met with his, and she held the contact, gazing at his darker swirls surrounding the pupil. The commander, somehow noticing the worried look on his face, despite it being faint, she had this pleading look in her own eyes for him not to worry. Though she was unaware of his understanding of her emotions, she only gave a small smile and shook her head. "Why are you so worried Ragnol? You care about me now?" Her tone was mellow, yet it had a slight tease to it.
Her eyes darted away from his own orbs and looked to his cheeks, which began to tint a darker color other than his tanned skin, perhaps, even lighter? It was odd, but she couldn't tell if it was ash from being in the Village Forge that she may have not caught while she first spotted him. Dismissing the look of it, she looked down to her hands that already were back to her thighs. She wondered how he felt about her touching his arm like that, after all, they never really got physical enough to even touch hands in a friendly or professional gesture. The sigh broke her from her thoughts and her innocent gaze peered back up at him. Gaining confidence, she gently rested it on his cheek in a comforting demeanor, voice still possessing a soft tone, yet, the undertone of it seemed a bit more saddened than it was intended. After all, she didn't want to risk him knowing how loner being Commander can be. "I'm glad you're worried about me. Nobody has for a while except Celestial."
If only the young leader understood the emotions of her old companion. The fear he had for losing her, and the strengths he put himself to protect her from a downgrade of reputation. If only she knew, to tell him how wrong he would be. To be so unaware— so oblivious to his emotions was truly tragic in the girl's eyes. Once she finds out how they both felt for this long time, she'll feel so idiotic. However, she was oblivious until then. She'll keep thinking of his emotions as nothing more than a leader, than an old friend.
Ragnol always caught her off-guard, and realizing she was staring helplessly at him in ponder, she shook her head slightly to hear the sudden question. Her right brow perked upwards, creating an amused expression. Her shy attire was released when she began to laugh. Not very loud to begin with, Astera's melodic tone was repetitive and, to say the least, cute. She covered her mouth with her hand, eyes shut— it stayed that way until it began to die down, and once so, she pulled her hand away from her mouth, revealing her content smile. "Yeah, sure! Why not?"
~ Celestial nodded, and bared her teeth in understanding. They both were upset, but her sandy companion was the one to show more of the dominance when it came Ragnol's life. Celestial didn't worry as much when she was around because she knew her rider would be alright. Otherwise every other dragon was infamous for having that deep fear for them to not save their rider, but you just had to have trust in yourself like your riders do with you, is what Celestial always told herself.
'Dev, it was on my part for scaring you both, and I apologize.' Her muscles were tense from releasing her 'hail-bombs' as one of the other Commanders had called them while they were doing a tournament for top three dragons. They had to prove their worth of power and just for fun, the dragons could communicate with one another and compete while their riders did the same thing. Celestial even remembers one commander having a Terrible Terror, one of the omegas of the other pack, as their dragon.
Sure, if Celestial lost Astera, she would be equally as devastated as Dust Devil, but would could she do? She had a close bond with the Commander but trusted her. She knew the leader was selfless, putting Berk's lives before her own, but she never once thought it was alright. Even though Celestial was more withdrawn, as Selsa, she would still risk her lives for someone she loved, especially her rider or Alpha. Even though Alpha was more of a sworn duty, To protect her rider was much more than involuntary. In fact, the complete opposite.
'How about both?' She inquired as her wings fluttered open and shut playfully. She only asked about fish because of what Dev had spoken of earlier, which was offering fish as a kind of romantic thing between dragon and dragon. Though, now that she thought about it, it could be considered romantic for Vikings to. To buy fish and cook it, sharing it for dinner. Who knows, it can work either or depending on how domestic or violent that Viking is. 'I'll personally catch a Yak for you, and a fish, and we can do the boar hunting together some other time? Maybe now if you really want?'

I'd be totally fine with it!)
"Oh that is much better." Luca replied sarcastically "As for the meat, we could see if someone else wanted to join. I'm sure you and that dragon of yours could easily take care of it yourselves, but eating with others is much more entertaining than scarfing down a meal." he ran a hand through his hair, shifting the strand that had blown over his eye due to the wind.
Zero huffed at the other dragon, not liking the tone she had taken with his rider. It was more exasperated than angry, but he was always one to make it known that he'd fight for Luca. It was always like that when it came down to the wire. Luca laughed softly at that and patted his head appreciatively. Luca was glad that they were all friends here. If things got out of hand who knew what would happen. They all had skills they had mastered and if they ended up fighting things could get messy.

Eira nodded in agreement and looked towards her rider. She tilted her head to the side as Percy spoke "It's at an island just east of here. If we fly that way I bet we would see it." a ship wreck couldn't be that hard to miss, especially if it was going to have some sort of dragon activity around it. Eira sighed, it was just like her rider to get into something like this. It was a good thing she was around or he might end up dying off.
Percy walked over to Eira and patted her side confidently before climbing up onto the saddle strapped to her neck near her shoulders. She shifted so the saddle fit more comfortable against her scales and waited for his order to fly. Once Percy was ready he nodded to her and she opened her wings. It only took a few beats of her large wingspan for them to lift into the air.
"I hope it hasn't sunk yet, or been washed back into the ocean by the waves." Percy called down to the other rider "I just heard about it this morning though, so I bet we'll be able to see it." Davyn sort of smirked at the thought of going out for a while. Although it felt weird for him not to be by his Commander's side, the moments like these were also entertaining. "Should still be fine if you heard of it this morning.." The Second in Command swiftly jumped on his dragon's back and patted the side of the beast. Nightshade expanded his wings and with a few beats of his wings, he and his rider were in the air. He let his tails drag a bit but they were still entwined just in case something attacked. "I do hope we see some dragons. I am getting a bit rusty.." He grinned slightly but there was some malicious intent behind the small smile. Davyn looked straight ahead as if he were on a mission. "Lead the way," he extended his arm. The rider patiently waited for the other to go ahead before he followed suit with his own dragon. Percy grinned wider in reply and urged Eira forwards. She rose higher into the air and leveled out plenty high enough so her wings didn't accidentally cut anything. The pair had gotten yelled at before for flying too close to the ground and cutting down a tree that nearly hit someone. Not that Percy would have minded, but he was sure that there would be some repercussions for smashing another one of their riders with a tree.
At the rate they were going they'd reach the other island in about ten minutes. Five if they were going fast. But this was just a leisurely fly so there was no rush. Eira closed her eyes and her chest vibrated with what could be considered the dragon form of a purr. The wing felt nice and the scent of the ocean was a nice change from the village.
They flew in silence for the most part. Percy only opened his mouth to call out when he saw the island "That's the one." he called over to Davyn "It should be on the other side." Eira sped up, equally as excited about what they were going to find. When they flew over the forest below a large ship came into sight. It was stranded on the side of the island in a surprisingly deep part of the water. Half of it stood out of the water while the other half was falling apart and stuck under the waves. From up here you couldn't see any dragons, but Eira immediately picked up on their scent.
The ship looked like it had been an expensive one. If they did some looking Percy wouldn't be surprised if they found some gold. Or other expensive items that well of vikings would often keep on their boats. From the hole in the side of the ship it looked like it had been attacked by a dragon only for it to sink and be washed up on this island.

Eerika Ljungstrand and Runa ~ Outside Berk ~ With Sigurd Afargus and Ladon (【 ᵗʷᶦˡᶦᵍʰᵗ 】 )
Eerika grimaced as she listened to Sigurd speak, face turned towards the approaching Spine. "I'm sorry about your Grandfather," She sighed, turning back to offer him a sad smile. Eerika had never known either of her grandparents on her father's side - both having been killed in dragon raids before she was born, along with her other grandmother. But her old Gramps, her grandfather on her mother's side, had been recently lost to old age. The man had been the one to teach her how to use a bow and had gifted her with the monster of a yew bow currently attached to Runa's saddle. Her fingers trailed over the small decorations that she had added to the bow, remembering the pride on her Gramp's face the first day she managed to draw it.
Shaking her head, she turned her attention back to Sigurd. Eerika knew that most deaths by Timberjack were accidents, Vikings getting in the way or trying to hunt them while they cleared areas of their forest homes or collected wood for their fires. The way Sigurd talked though... It didn't seem to be the case. "Well," Eerika continued, clearing her throat, "Ladon's a real sweetheart in any case. I bet you wouldn't trade him for a Timberjack now. Just like I wouldn't trade Runa for a Snow Wraith."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Runa ducked her head shyly, but grinned back at Ladon. She didn't talk to the other dragons a lot, preferring to stay silent unless they addressed her first and spending most of her time following Eerika around. It wasn't that she didn't like them though. Berk's flock was much bigger than most Timberjacks were comfortable in, but it was her flock and she loved being part of it. "Lucky you," She purred, admiring Ladon's bright scales, "I've been stuck on woodcutting and ice removal for the whole week. This is the first time we've been able to take time to hunt." She looped briefly, chirping in amusement as Eerika clutched her close and dug a heal into a sensitive spot. "Everyone has been working so hard," She agreed, remembering the flurry of work that had been happening since the Alpha's attack, "The flock's lucky to have dedicated dragons like you, Ladon." She ducked her head again, shyly flicking her tail to brush Ladon's shoulder in a friendly manner, unused to complimenting anyone and unsure how to go about it.
Freja was still wandering around the edge, looking for something to do. She was starting to get bored seeing the same old scene: the other dragon rider’s huts, the cliffs below, and waves crashing against the surface. Sailsnap walked over to the bored Viking, and sat down next to her. The Grapple Grounder let out a snort, looking over the ocean in front of the pair. Freja stroked her dragon’s neck while saying, “Yeah. I know. I just wish we had something to do around here. I mean, I would have loved to start fishing for the Edge or defending our borders, but it seems that everyone is currently busy with their own matters.” Sailsnap nodded in agreement. He curled up into a large lump onto the ground, his long tail going over his snout. Sailsnap made a large huff, and was starting to fall asleep. Freja knew that it was time to retire for the night. She urged her dragon back into her hut, and she started to prepare herself to go to sleep.
. Artemis Kollsvein . Rider of Juno the Stormcutter [ Butcher's Shop | 𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚔𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛 's Luca Halvar & Zero, Nightwisher 's Shilo Saga and Venbra ]
Juno’s eyes narrowed slightly and her black eyes flitted momentarily on Zero. She gave a warning growl, wordlessly reminding the dragon his place on the hierarchal ladder. If not for the potential of harming either rider, she would’ve reinforced the admonition with a minatory bite to the skull—as per usual—but the stormcutter steeled herself and returned to looking ahead. If Zero didn’t want a problem with the betas, or the possibility of being demoted, he’d drop it. And the drake had a feeling the hybrid didn’t want to risk his dignity by challenging her position on the pecking order.
Artemis, meanwhile, nodded at Luca’s words, knowing they rung true. Even though both she and her dragon could easily down both stag and boar, she would very much prefer splitting her meals between friends. “Gotta love sharing!”
Berk soon came into sight, the massive icy spikes glittering bright against the sun. Juno neared the ground and swept her four wings into a hover. Artemis took the cue and rose from her saddle, taking her dragon by the right crowning horn and dropping onto land when the stormcutter stretched out her neck. The viking then ambled beneath the majestic beast, where Juno relinquished her hold on the stag in kind. It dropped flawlessly into Artemis’ grasp and, despite the animal’s incredible size, she lifted it with ease; muscles bulging beneath her layer of armor. “C’mon, Luca!” came her cheerful beckoning, followed up with her entering the butchery.
The metallic scent of blood and raw meat greeted immediately her and she couldn’t help but give an excited wallop. She could already feel the knives’ handles as she skinned the adolescent buck. Artemis paused in her blissful contemplation, upon noticing another presence. She blinked in recognition, having not expecting to see the particular individual. “…Shilo?” The combatant blinked and tilted her head, before a hearty beam broke her face. “Well I'll be! Hello there!”
Meanwhile, Juno had taken to perching atop the butchery’s roofing, beautiful scales shimmering against the sunlight and making their mottled patterns seem almost white. Her half-lidded gaze took to observing the two dragons below; one a Night Fury chimera and the other a Speed Stinger.
Juno was right that Zero wasn't going to risk it, but there was no reason for her to consider injuring his rider. Even he would wound his pride for that. Shaking his head and snorting he returned his attention to Berk in front of them. As soon as they reached the butchers shop he flapped his wings and leaned back, landing on his hind legs so he could hold the boar off of the ground. Luca jumped off of his back and landed lightly on the ground.
He didn't look happy about it as he grabbed the boar from Zero. He held it away from his body and mentally thanked his arm strength. Granted, he could only hold it like this for a short amount of time and he hurried after Artemis. Once inside the shop he stepped around Artemis and dropped the boar on the table.
Only once he had done that did he turn his attention to the other rider in the room. It was, if he remembered her name correctly, Shila. His guess was confirmed when Artemis spoke her name. Luca let her do the talking as he walked over to a barrel of water and washed off the blood and fur from his hands. He scowled and shook his hands dry.
Freja heard someone knock on her door. She carefully grabbed her hairbrush as Sailsnap got up from his bed and followed her, preparing to toast the would be intruder. When she came to the entrance of her hut, she saw another Viking, a tall, muscular man with a Scauldron at his side. Surprised, Freja put her hairbrush behind her back as she relt embarrassment. “Hello. What are you doing here, and have we met before?” She asked the new Viking. Sailsnap stopped growling and bowed his head at the new dragon.
"Probably not."Jagger replied."And I want to change that."He admitted.Every now and then he liked to be more friendly and make some new friends.Wave gave off a small roar and threw a little bit of water into the air."Now what was that for?"He asked his dragon and slugged him. Sailsnap let out a growl of amusement. Freja sighed. “ My name’s Freja. What’s yours?” She asked the new Viking. Sailsnap said to Wave, “Sailsnap. I take out sails with my horns to prevent ships from running away from Freja and I. We got particularly good at it for three years. I heard that Drago Bludvist is gone. Good, he’s a madman.” The Grapple Grounder swished his tail on the ground to stir up some dust on a nearby table.
Katla Hexum - Rider of Pyrrhus the Stormcutter The Village MadFaith 's Eydis & Spiritlight
Katla gave out a small sigh of relief as she looked at Pyrrhus. Her brows furred downwards angrily. "Pyrrhus you're not supposed to run off like that!" She gently 'punched' his broad shoulder, and to her interaction, Pyrrhus fell over, a small coo of 'death' escaping his gigantic jowls as he hit the floor. She let out a quiet, dramatic groan at her dragon's reaction, beginning to attempt to push his head upwards as she continued to talk. "I'm glad he hasn't been a bother." She was quickly taken back by the girl's sudden compliment on her dragon. "Oh, thank you— you should see his sister. Very beautiful she is. And he's a little too friendly. However, your boy, he's also quite friendly." She noted, seeing him jump onto all fours before returning to her own dragon.
She continued her attempt at lifting up her companion, as he played down. With another grunt, she pushed, and to avail, Pyrrhus lifted his head back up to lay down, causing Katla to fall forward onto the floor. She huffed in irritation at her dragon and realized Eydis was still talking to her. The dark-haired brunette gave a small, shy smile at her concern. "I-I'm fine." She began to shy up, her cheeks already pink from her cold and pale skin mixed together. "T-Thank you for asking." When Eydis continued on to mention her own self, Katla nodded. "Typically we can be."
Surprised at Eydis's introduction, Katla froze. She felt a broad cranium gently nudge her arm, and she looked down to see the Beta peering up at her with warm eyes. She timidly stuck her hand back out and shook it. "I-I'm Katla Hexum. This is Pyrrhus—" She paused and gave a shy grin, "But I suppose you already know that." Looking down, Katla could feel the dampness of Eydis's hand from her earlier dip in the water. "D-Do you need to dry up? I happen to carry towels because Pyrrhus has a tendency to get me dirty and I typically use them to dry my face after I've washed it. Oh— and Pyrrhus also can breathe fire, if case you need it. I usually like using his powers to breathe fire to warm up things. Would you like to see?" Pausing, she gently tapped her two index fingers together. "I-It's okay if not." ~ The said Stormcutter had already laid down on the floor at his own owner's interaction, and to also annoy her, he sat right up during the middle of Spiritlight talking. He gave a purr, 'I can't help but think where they would all be without us. I think us becoming valuable to the Vikings was a great event. We all have a connection somehow, and we all live in great harmony, from what I noticed. Vikings are so interesting.'
Pyrrhus, too, looked at his own rider lovingly. 'They'll come to, eventually...' He trailed off, his gaze still fixed on Katla, but he was attentive to Spiritlight. He gave a small grunt and looked back to the hybrid, his calming smile was warm and welcoming as always. 'I see. Sure we can tag along! I don't mind. Maybe your rider will ask Katla, and see what she says.' He paused once more, looking back at his own rider from the mention of his name. He then heard the introduction, and noticing the hesitation of his beloved companion, he gently rested his head under her arm, slightly nudging it. He gave a calm smile at Eydis, the only calming thing about the introduction, as Katla was tense and frozen. 'I think that would be good.' He cooed to Spiritlight, 'Katla is incredibly shy and this experience can open her up more.' He gave a loud purr when his rider mentioned his skills of breathing fire, and watched the pair closely.
Shilo was merely sitting in silence, her eyes on her dragon as he sniffed around, looking for a mouse or something for a quick snack. That was something everyone knew about Shilo, though, her ability to remain silent and still, observe her surroundings. Even if there didn't seem to be much to observe. She didn't allow her attention away from Venbra, not seeming to notice when four more joined, two dragons and their riders until the dragon decided to join by her side. The Strategist finally turned her attention to them when she was addressed. "Artemis, Luca." The raven haired woman replied, a small smile playing at her lips at Artemis's tone. "Juno and Zero." Her eyes trailed over the dragons as well. Shilo made it her business to know the names of very member of the village and their dragons. She needed to know everyone's strengths and weaknesses to better formulate plans and battle strategies. Shilo's gaze rested on Juno for longer than the others, her head dipping a bit in a sign of respect. Juno may not have been the alpha of the dragon group, but she was still highly ranked, Shilo had noticed, and would treat her with the respect that she deserved.
Finally, she turned her attention back to the riders. "Hunting go well, then?" She asked, an actual attempt at conversation; something Shilo did not often do. "We got ourselves a deer, though, it took us longer than it should have." There was a playful accusatory tone in her voice as she glanced over at Venbra, who in turn flicked his tail and rolled his eyes. A genuine smile twitched at the corner of the woman's lips, but she didn't let it shine through. Shilo's one visible eye, the other one hidden under a curtain of hair, oscillated between Luca and Artemis, trying to decide who should have her full attention.
_________________________________________ ~Shilo Saga~ Location: Butcher's Shop Interactions: Artemis and Luca Mentions: Juno and Zero __________________________________________________________________________________ Venbra was perfectly happy waiting and hanging out with his rider alone, they spent a good portion of their time alone after all. He was sniffing around the grass not far away, trying to find a small animal of some kind to make the wait for deer meat easier. However, his head perked up when he caught the scents of four other Berk residents. Without hesitation, Venbra abandoned his hunt and took his place next to Shilo, his tail twitching just a bit as he sat back, his eyes scanning over the four of them. He wasn't poised to attack, but there was an over protective sense to the way he hung around his rider. "Hey," he greeted, his voice cool and smooth, but still friendly. "How have you been?" Ven was pretty well known, even among riders, for having a hard time respecting the hierarchy of the dragon pack. Shilo and he had grown up detached from Berk, both were pretty well known as loners who had moved in within the last few years. And though Shilo had had no problem following orders and knowing her place among the villagers, Venbra had had a far more rough time coming to terms with the fact that he was only a delta. And so, Venbra barely looked at Juno as she rested atop the butcher's shop, putting his attention squarely on Zero.
. Ragnol Ulfketil . Rider of Dust Devil the Sand Wraith [ The Village Forge | 【 ᵗʷᶦˡᶦᵍʰᵗ 】 's Astra & Celestial ]
The sand greeted his aching form, sagging into the grains similarly to how he would a bed. He balled his right hand into a fist, enjoying the gritty feel of loam trickle through his fingers. The blacksmith was used to the texture and its capabilities. For one, it was associated with Dev’s firepower, one incredibly unique across the dragon kingdom; for two, it was the very material he utilized for the glass dragon figurines he created whenever given the chance. Thus far, he was quickly nearing the completion of the all known dragon species. He had recently started on the Bewilderbeast, which had to be sculpted by memory, given there were no available species to reference from. In hindsight, however, ridding the concept of the great beast would be difficult, given the widespread terror it sent amongst the citizens of Berk. Just to be sure, he would visit Valka and ask for her input, as she’d lived with one of the snowy kings for twenty years. She was pleased by his progress, only correcting him on tusk size ratio to body and the wings that sprouted from their sides. If truth be told, he’d gone to her a lot lately, since the woman was anatomically adept with reptiles.
Not that Ragnol wasn’t—he’d been studying them even since they were a nuisance. He had a journal depicting all the drawings he’d sketch of them, which now applied to the glass menagerie that lived cozily in his home. Sometimes, there happened to be two dragons of the same species in his collection, which often arose from the fact he would depict a rider’s dragon; one he truly admired or respected. For example, the Night Fury he modeled after Toothless, but gave it a few unique twists that made it apparent it wasn’t the chief’s dragon. However, later, he did create a little glass Toothless, one that had a happy, toothless grin and the iconic viking tail-fin and saddle. The sculpture was placed at the second-to-top of Ragnol’s shelving, alongside other Alphas he’d come to meet. One of those was the Sky Scraper’s personal Alpha, Asgeir, wielding his unbraided tails in a threatening manner. His normal Triple Stryke sculpture, however, resided on the Strike Class shelf. The top of his shelf resided his first glass piece. It didn’t have the same look and refined touch as the others, but still it was his favorite—for it was the first time he’d ever made a glass sculpture. Not only that, but it marked the first time he worked with his dragon: true teamwork. Though he loved all his sculptures all very much, each having the handiwork and dedication individually poured into them, none could compare to the admiration of that top dragon; the glass piece of Dust Devil. Symbolically, it marked the adoration he felt for his companion—a friend, more than a pet. He loved her dearly and nothing would change that. He shifted to look over at Astera, face momentarily serious despite the teasing he’d noticed in her tone. “You know I’ve always cared for you… even if you don’t see it. I worry, a lot. About your safety.” Ragnol chuckled softly, hoping she didn’t find his concern weird. He added, “Not that I don’t think you capable. I do, wholeheartedly. But sometimes I can’t help it. I miss it. I miss us.” Again, he laughed, but this time it felt forced. He truly did care for his friend, even if he had put strain on their relationship and distanced himself for her reputation’s sake. Ragnol was the local blacksmith, how could he ever bare to compete for a commander’s attention? He couldn’t, in his head. The villagers would find their relationship odd and gossip about it. Rumors were never good for one’s repute. He gave a sigh. If only she knew that deep within the shelves of his home, was a little figurine of Celestial. Shaking the sadness his thoughts brought, he lazily lifted an arm and pointed at the sky. Finally, an actual smile spread across his lips as he tried to decipher the amorphous shapes the clouds had to offer. “Look! A turtle with a troll for a shell!”{x} The Sand Wraith flapped her wings, thrilled by the fact her friend would fetch her a yak. Sometimes, she would purloin an animal or two from the viking herds. Ragnol had constantly scoffed that stealing was wrong, but she was honestly doing the farmers a good deed!
The yak she plucked from their tightly woven families were either incredibly ill or old. They were bound to die soon anyways, so why not take advantage of a warm body before it turned cold and icky—which would then have her looked upon as a scavenger. She was proud of her dragon roots, given they were an apex predator that worked hard to bring down big game. Never would she resort to the low levels of a scavenger, which stole from those that had actually worked hard to gain food.
‘Sure! I don’t mind,’ she giggled bubbly. The drake shoved at Celestial’s shoulder with a wing before mischievously darting off into the woods in a flash of black. ‘You’re it in the meantime!’ she called over her shoulder.
. Artemis Kollsvein . Rider of Juno the Stormcutter [ Butcher's Shop | 𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚔𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛 's Luca Halvar & Zero, Nightwisher 's Shilo Saga and Venbra ]
Artemis rested her deer across the platform, beckoning Luca to do the same but on the neighboring one, so another butcher could attend to his boar. The viking wouldn’t have minded skinning the pig, but the day would go much faster if there were two different individuals for each prey item. She unhooked a nearby apron and equipped it.
“Yup! Huntin’ was excellent,” she stated proudly. “Luca and I had a lil competition, and we each got our own thing. Well, at least Juno caught this buck.” The buff lass gestured to the young stag on the skinning table, still slightly warm from its clinging life essence. She took a nearby knife and swiped it down with a cloth; removing any potential bacteria from the last time it was used. “I see you had a successful hunt as well?” A smile tugged at her lips and she turned to direct it towards Shilo. It had a slightly flirtatious aura to it. Artemis was known to be a coquettish, especially with women she respected. Usually, the playfulness was never returned, and instead disgust at her insinuations. She nudged Luca playfully. “Just before the hunt, Luca and I were just training for the nearing tournament of dragon racing. Maybe he can geek out about it to you.” Artemis gave a hearty laugh and went back to her deer. She would be there to answer any directed question, but for now she gripped the now cleaned dagger in preparation of peeling off the fur from the corpse’s body.
{x} The stormcutter observed Shilo with dark, emotionless eyes, taking in the human with unseen interest. It was rare for a humanoid to be respectful to a beast, typically because some regarded them as mere pets to be owned; rather than the dangerous beasts they were. The gesture of respect wasn’t lost on Juno and she returned it with a tilt of her head; cranial fans buzzing with curiosity.
She blinked unevenly before turning back to observing her surroundings with a half-lidded gaze. The majestic beast scarcely glanced towards the other two dragons, nor did she really mind when Venbra didn’t greet her like a Delta should have a Beta. But the slightest signs of disrespect would have to be dealt with accordingly.
She bunched together her four wings and squared her shoulders, acting a watchdog for any possible dangers that might arise. Though it was the Alphas job to protect their subjects, it was a Betas job to reinforce it.
"I'm not geeking out about it." Luca argued, brushing off his hands and straightening his shirt "I was simply showing off my ability, that's all." if he was being honest, he did get a bit too invested when it came to racing. But for the most part that was a good thing. It kept him practicing and it gave him something he could put his all into. Luca pulled some money from his bag and placed it on the table, payment for doing the work on his boar. If it was between doing it himself and paying someone he'd always pay someone for it. And since he wasn't planning on selling the meat it was only fair to pay the other for their work on skinning the thing.
Zero nodded in greeting to the other and replied "Hello, I'm doing amazing as always. I'm sure you can tell." he flicked his tail and shifted his wings as if to prove a point "And you seem to being well I hope. The dear there proves you haven't lost your edge." the way he spoke was polite, to a point, but definitely lofty. It was so much like his riders that they could be the same person if Zero was a human. Luca knew when to stop bragging, but Zero had no self control.
The hybrid made a mental note to keep an eye out for the dragon perched on the building. After what she had done around his rider he was officially going to watch out for her. She was above him in the rankings so he wouldn't do anything to call her out, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to watch out for her.
