Eerika Ljungstrand and Runa ~ Outside Berk ~ With Sigurd Afargus and Ladon (【 ᵗʷᶦˡᶦᵍʰᵗ 】 ) "Well," Eerika mused loud enough for him to hear, stormy grey eyes amused as Sigurd drew alongside her, "Strength of body doesn't always mean strength of mind. My beautiful girl finds it harder to trust than most, she can't control those tremors around anyone but me, so she keeps her wings far from others. She's also been in more fights than almost any other dragon of Berk and is still here." Runa purred deeply at this, causing Eerika to laugh as it rumbled through her. "As to Snow Wraiths," She continued, eyes straying to the jagged peaks they were heading towards, "There was just... Something about them that called to me I suppose." She huffed out an irritated breath, glancing briefly at Sigurd, before flopping down over Runa's neck.
"I was... aggressive, when I was younger," She explained, running a hand over Runa's scales distantly, a habit developed to calm herself down an keep her mind on track, "Before Runa, I had a spear and a desire to be the best warrior, and then the beat Dragon Rider, on the whole island. Snow Wraiths are aggressive, intelligent and almost impossible to train." She chuckled wryly, smiling crookedly at Sigurd. "I thought it was a perfect match," The lithe girl shook her head at her previous folly, scale and fang ornaments clacking gently together, "Arrogant and stupid of me really. Runa turned out to be the best thing that every happened to me." Snorting slightly, she turned curiously to Sigurd. "What about you?" She asked, ignoring the chirping dragon under her, "You said you wanted a Timberjack right? Why?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Runa purred happily at hearing her Rider speak of her, before turning back to Ladon. "Hello, Ladon," She replied, tilting her head to properly bring the Moldruffle into her sights. The Timberjack's voice was rough, as if damaged early in life, and she was very soft-spoken. "Things have been going well enough," She replied, relishing in the opportunity to truly stretch her wings after so many days cooped up in the village, "It's nice to get a break though, that ice is stubborn." A slight growl entered her voice as her mind went to the Alpha, but she quickly repressed the feeling, saving it for training and hunting. Instead, Runa stretched happily, cooing in bliss as she turned unusually content eyes to her flying companion. "What about you, Ladon?" She returned, lazily flapping her wings for a moment, before returning to her easy glide, "How have things been?"
Freja was still wandering around the edge, looking for something to do. She was starting to get bored seeing the same old scene: the other dragon rider’s huts, the cliffs below, and waves crashing against the surface. Sailsnap walked over to the bored Viking, and sat down next to her. The Grapple Grounder let out a snort, looking over the ocean in front of the pair. Freja stroked her dragon’s neck while saying, “Yeah. I know. I just wish we had something to do around here. I mean, I would have loved to start fishing for the Edge or defending our borders, but it seems that everyone is currently busy with their own matters.” Sailsnap nodded in agreement. He curled up into a large lump onto the ground, his long tail going over his snout. Sailsnap made a large huff, and was starting to fall asleep. Freja knew that it was time to retire for the night. She urged her dragon back into her hut, and she started to prepare herself to go to sleep.
Percy was sitting at the edge of a small pool, humming mindlessly to himself. Eira was curled up behind him, her eyes closed and her chest rising and falling slowly. Not a lot had happened today and quite frankly he was just waiting for orders at this point. Percy was a thief so when there wasn't anything to steal he found himself bored. Eiras tail flicked and she opened one eye to look at him. Percy patted her nose in a friendly gesture and she let him. After he had had his fill she slowly got to her feet and stretched, her large wingspan casting shadows over Percy.
Sorry it's short!)
"Oh, hey Davyn." Percy replied, glancing up at the other rider. He stood up when and shrugged, placing a hand on Eiras side "I'm just waiting for some sort of order. Not much for me to do around here honestly." he tilted his head to the side and asked "What about you? It's rare for you to just be standing around." Percy could often be seen lounging around when there was no job for him to do. But others did have jobs so he was one of a kind in that matter.
Eira shifted so she could be standing beside her rider instead of behind him as she was before. The dragon wasn't one to start a fight, and she knew her place, but she always wanted to make sure that her rider was going to be safe. Percy and her had bonded a long time ago and ever since they had been close companions.
"Did you need me to do something?" Percy asked. There was a flare of excitement at the thought of getting out of here to do an actual job. Not that he didn't enjoy laying around doing nothing, but it got to a point where the need to do something overpowered the enjoyment he got from a break. Even if it was something simple like a supply run or a wreck scavenge he'd be happy and willing to either tag along or lead a group to go. Eira seemed restless as well and it would do her some good to get into the air and fly out any stiff muscles she may have from being grounded for so long.
"Boo, looks like we're both out of luck then." Percy replied, though his smile never faltered or left his face "We could always go and make our own fun. I was listening in on a conversation, not important, but I did hear that an old shipwreck was spotted off an island not too far from here." without something to do Percy would do just about anything to make his day just a bit more interesting. That meant traipsing around and hunting through a ship wreck that most likely had some nasty wild dragons around it who were also looking for something there.
Percy sat himself back down by the pools edge as well, tapping the water with the toe of his boot and watching the ripples spread across the waters top "Unless you think that we'll be getting some sort of order soon than it would be easier, and smarter to stay here." that idea did not sound ideal.
Eira nodded to the other dragon politely and replied with a quick "Fine. And you?" she wrapped her tail neatly around her claw, almost like a cat and folded her wings comfortably against her sides. Her red scales shined nicely in the sun light and the white scales the decorated her head, neck, and wings was crisp and clean. Percy glanced over to her when she heard her growl and was glad to see that she seemed to be chatting with the other dragon.
Sigurd Afargus - Rider of Ladon the Exotic Moldruffle Outside of Berk Lycaonia 's Eerika & Rune
Sigurd, cautious to the black-haired female's words, sat up once the speed of his Exotic began to decrease to a calmer pace. His body easily released the rest of the stress building in his back from the position, seeing as he typically wasn't in the position. Although it was unusual it began to become tense that quickly, Sigurd rarely ducked out in position against his dragon's neck, and due to constantly being sore for the numerous days of endless work since Drago's attack, you would suppose all the muscles in his back would be accustomed to the new position. However, instead, the lack of flexibility in his back caused it to do this. Especially since not more than two years ago, Sigurd had a serious back injury where he had to leave his job at work until it was fully healed. He groaned softly at the relief, placing a hand on his lower back and proceeded to fold it into a fist, rubbing up and down his spine with his tanned knuckles.
The masculine continued to listen, never once ignoring the Strategist despite his slight pain. "More fights? Well, I think she's doing great since then." He gave a warm smile, one that was more genuine and rare than most he had given. It quickly faded at her sudden irritation, causing the male to wonder if he had gone over the line of asking. But to his surprise, although it was a blank face that appeared more relaxed than anything, Sigurd nodded in understanding. "No worries. I think everyone had that urge when dragons became one with us. I thought I could possibly be the best at first. That quickly changed though. I knew it wasn't going to happen, and besides, it felt wrong to be so greedy for a position that I probably wasn't prepared for." He paused, looking down at Ladon's head. With that, he gently grabbed onto one of the more prominent horns and grinned lovingly at his companion. "Besides, I think everyone can be the best as long as they try their best."
Sigurd suddenly shifted, lifting his legs to criss-cross them under one another, his scaled-friend completely unfazed by it. The male kept his balance— something extremely risky, even though his buckle connected to the leather seat was tightly strapped around his waist. "When I was younger, this man I once knew told me about Timberjacks. They were one of the most feared dragons ever, is what he told me, because of their wings. He told me his father was murdered by one, and even though it was tragic, I was fascinated with them. The sketches previous Vikings drew— the stories. Everything was what I was fascinated with. They're.. beautiful." He felt a low growl come from his companion and gently patted him. "But my family forbid me from having a dragon, especially since my Grandpa was murdered by a Timberjack." Sigurd paused, looking down at his hands at the thought of losing his grandfather. It happened when he was young, but he knew the elder, and once he was gone, it wasn't until he was twelve that he discovered his grandfather was murdered. "I was still fascinated nonetheless, and the day I got cut by one... It was the day I discovered Ladon. I took him home and convinced my family to keep him. They were very unhappy at first, but they immediately got used to him. Ladon went through some things too. Although nothing nearly as bad as Rune."
~ The Exotic gave a grin, his teeth exposed in a very friendly gesture, glad the opposing dragon had given him a greeting. With a slow nod, he continued to look at Rune. "That's good. I'm glad." He purred out, flapping his wings with a calm motion, the iridescence on his wings causing a beautiful shine against the sunlight. "Yeah, I'm assuming it would be." He gave out a coo, closing his eyes to the gentle breeze. "Everything's been great. I've been putting my part in tracking down prey for the Village and even doing my part in fishing and carrying wood back and forth for the workers. Everyone has been working so hard."
Katla Hexum - Rider of Pyrrhus the Stormcutter The Village MadFaith 's Eydis & Spiritlight
Katla gave out a small sigh of relief as she looked at Pyrrhus. Her brows furred downwards angrily. "Pyrrhus you're not supposed to run off like that!" She gently 'punched' his broad shoulder, and to her interaction, Pyrrhus fell over, a small coo of 'death' escaping his gigantic jowls as he hit the floor. She let out a quiet, dramatic groan at her dragon's reaction, beginning to attempt to push his head upwards as she continued to talk. "I'm glad he hasn't been a bother." She was quickly taken back by the girl's sudden compliment on her dragon. "Oh, thank you— you should see his sister. Very beautiful she is. And he's a little too friendly. However, your boy, he's also quite friendly." She noted, seeing him jump onto all fours before returning to her own dragon.
She continued her attempt at lifting up her companion, as he played down. With another grunt, she pushed, and to avail, Pyrrhus lifted his head back up to lay down, causing Katla to fall forward onto the floor. She huffed in irritation at her dragon and realized Eydis was still talking to her. The dark-haired brunette gave a small, shy smile at her concern. "I-I'm fine." She began to shy up, her cheeks already pink from her cold and pale skin mixed together. "T-Thank you for asking." When Eydis continued on to mention her own self, Katla nodded. "Typically we can be."
Surprised at Eydis's introduction, Katla froze. She felt a broad cranium gently nudge her arm, and she looked down to see the Beta peering up at her with warm eyes. She timidly stuck her hand back out and shook it. "I-I'm Katla Hexum. This is Pyrrhus—" She paused and gave a shy grin, "But I suppose you already know that." Looking down, Katla could feel the dampness of Eydis's hand from her earlier dip in the water. "D-Do you need to dry up? I happen to carry towels because Pyrrhus has a tendency to get me dirty and I typically use them to dry my face after I've washed it. Oh— and Pyrrhus also can breathe fire, if case you need it. I usually like using his powers to breathe fire to warm up things. Would you like to see?" Pausing, she gently tapped her two index fingers together. "I-It's okay if not." ~ The said Stormcutter had already laid down on the floor at his own owner's interaction, and to also annoy her, he sat right up during the middle of Spiritlight talking. He gave a purr, 'I can't help but think where they would all be without us. I think us becoming valuable to the Vikings was a great event. We all have a connection somehow, and we all live in great harmony, from what I noticed. Vikings are so interesting.'
Pyrrhus, too, looked at his own rider lovingly. 'They'll come to, eventually...' He trailed off, his gaze still fixed on Katla, but he was attentive to Spiritlight. He gave a small grunt and looked back to the hybrid, his calming smile was warm and welcoming as always. 'I see. Sure we can tag along! I don't mind. Maybe your rider will ask Katla, and see what she says.' He paused once more, looking back at his own rider from the mention of his name. He then heard the introduction, and noticing the hesitation of his beloved companion, he gently rested his head under her arm, slightly nudging it. He gave a calm smile at Eydis, the only calming thing about the introduction, as Katla was tense and frozen. 'I think that would be good.' He cooed to Spiritlight, 'Katla is incredibly shy and this experience can open her up more.' He gave a loud purr when his rider mentioned his skills of breathing fire, and watched the pair closely.
Eira nodded in agreement and looked towards her rider. She tilted her head to the side as Percy spoke "It's at an island just east of here. If we fly that way I bet we would see it." a ship wreck couldn't be that hard to miss, especially if it was going to have some sort of dragon activity around it. Eira sighed, it was just like her rider to get into something like this. It was a good thing she was around or he might end up dying off.
Percy walked over to Eira and patted her side confidently before climbing up onto the saddle strapped to her neck near her shoulders. She shifted so the saddle fit more comfortable against her scales and waited for his order to fly. Once Percy was ready he nodded to her and she opened her wings. It only took a few beats of her large wingspan for them to lift into the air.
"I hope it hasn't sunk yet, or been washed back into the ocean by the waves." Percy called down to the other rider "I just heard about it this morning though, so I bet we'll be able to see it."
. Ragnol Ulfketil . Rider of Dust Devil the Sand Wraith [ The Village Forge | 【 ᵗʷᶦˡᶦᵍʰᵗ 】 's Astra & Celestial ]
Having had his chocolate brown eyes trained on Astera, the man was briefly put off by the redness dusting her face. Noticing no pain associated with the color, he dismissed the possibility of an allergic reaction; though otherwise couldn’t explain the occurrence. Poor, poor oblivious Ragnol. Well, both oblivious and unsuspecting. How was he to know his commander was head over heels for him? He never had a reason to suspect someone actually displaying romantic interest—especially not his childhood friend.
Of course, that wasn’t to say he wasn’t against the idea. Back when they were children, the blacksmith couldn’t help but feel smitten with his friend. It had begun as a sibling relationship, but extended into romantic territory after he’d help save the lass from a monstrous nightmare—back when dragons were still a nuisance. The mighty beast had reared its ugly head to strike, when he had dove to protect her.
From then on, his fondness grew into something more intimate—an innocent crush, then nurtured by the closeness the two shared.
But it had all changed when Astera had been promoted to Commander. As a result, Ragnol started to become self-conscious around her, fearing their bond would look too unprofessional to third parties and in turn perhaps ruin her reputation. As such, he thought that if he were elevated to Second-in-Command, things could return to the way they were. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Instead, she had chosen Kari over him, another close friends of hers, and he couldn’t help but feel hurt. It had felt like a dagger had pierced his heart and he couldn’t find a way to dislodge it. Granted, unlike most, this distress didn’t fester into something like bitterness or resentment. No, instead it wormed its way into the fondness he felt for her like a messy black mass, seeping into the cuts in his heart and hardening to form raw scabs. This wasn’t to mean that his love for her was completely gone. It would resurface time and time again, making him yearn and keen for something he thought he couldn’t obtain; then it would vanish again, falling dormant beneath the gentle thrum of his heartbeat. These sudden spikes of affection were becoming less and less frequent, and he hoped for the sweet release it would bring when he could mentally move on from Astera. It stung to think of it, but what was the point of pursuing someone who didn’t feel the same? He had failed to win over what he looked as an equal, a soulmate—perfect in every way, from her looks, to her personality, down to any one of her different quirks. Back to the present, a dispirited sigh breathed from his lips—a sudden deviance from his formerly cheerful demeanor. Dust Devil nudged him in the chest, uttering a questioning croon. He only gave her a rather sad, pitiful smile.
“To the bay girl,” was the only thing he whispered to her, not bothering to explain his plight—especially not with Astera in hearing distance.
Grabbing a hold of one of her cranial horns for leverage, he mounted the Sand Wraith by the stirrups. He settled against the saddle, grabbing ahold of the handles that acted similarly as reins to their equestrian counterpart. Tapping his boots lightly against her sides, his dragon responded quickly and swooped straight up, the force throwing him back in the saddle. He couldn’t help but smile at her excitement and held on tighter—knowing that if he couldn’t rely on people, he always had Dev to be there for him. { x } The Sand Wraith was conflicted: her human’s excited mood had suddenly dampened into something cheerless. The drake identified it had something to do with Astera, given it had begun shortly after he had noticed her reddened face—associated deeply with romantic sentiments. Dust Dev could pick up on the diffusing pheromones, embarrassment, and want from the human alpha; something Ragnol couldn’t do. Sometimes she wished her rider could share in her keen sense of smell, then he would recognize how much she liked him!
Her gaze hardened a bit. ‘I think we should do it, Celeste.’ Despite her prior hesitance, Ragnol’s sudden change in mood proved the fact his love was still present for Astera, though it was usually dormant due to his constant disapproval towards the romantic sentiments. The dragon pitied his mental quarrel and wished to comfort him, but it was fruitless now that they were headed somewhere. Her horns buzzed when the Woolly Howl spoke again, but the femme wasn’t quite into the idea of her challenge.
On different circumstance, the Sand Wraith would’ve loved to engage in the request of racing her friend—but her duty was to her rider, which wasn’t feeling his best.
‘Maybe on the way back,’ she promised lightly, snapping open her wings in preparation of flight. Her current objective was to cheer up her rider.
Wings flapping strongly, the dragon drove their shared weight upward. The village shrank to a colorful line below them, icy spikes shimmering like braided silver where the sun hit it. She barrel-rolled for a brief moment, feeling Ragnol tense in anticipation. Her wings struck at wispy clouds, sending droplets of water arcing through the sky. The Sand Wraith slowed to a glide when her rider gave a laugh and sighed to herself. Ragnol deserved nothing more than happiness and she was going to ensure that.
. Artemis Kollsvein . Rider of Juno the Stormcutter [ Misty Backwoods' Sky | 𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚔𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛 's Luca Halvar & Zero ]
Artemis couldn’t help but frown, disappointed by Luca’s refusal to learn how to butcher. She recovered quickly however, shooting him a teasing grin; mirroring Zero’s own playfulness.
“Aw come on, it’s fun! Sure your clothes will probably remain stained in scarlet and intestines forever, but is that really such a bad thing?”
She knew the rider practically worshipped fashionably neat, clean attire, so pushing his buttons on the particular topic was always fun—especially when threatening to stain them with one thing or another. “But fine, if you’re really that concerned, then we can always drop them off there. Maybe you can watch me butcher from a distance, because this stag is gonna be real fun to chop up.”
Rubbing her hands together, she pictured the work that could achieve with the buck. A few pounds of meat could mean a few coins in her pocket; not bad for a leisurely challenge.
“Either that or we can do whatever you have in mind. We can just strap these two beauties on a tree or something and come back for them later.” The warrior wanted to give variety in what they did and as it was, Luca didn’t seem that interested in seeing an animal be gutted for the sake of food; especially if it meant getting a smear on his shirt. Juno shifted beneath her form, giving a low warble. Typically the butchery meant she was fed treats in the form of the liver or heart; both of which were succulent and juicy on the tongue, and especially divine when slipping down her throat. Of course, if they did something else, it would have to wait and, though she was patient, she did not enjoy entertaining the fact she'll have to wait for Luca's sake; and simply because the man didn't like to see his other skin be potentially drenched in blood and gore.
Astera Fyrason - Rider of Celestial Solstice the Woolly Howl The Village Forge to Black Heart Bay ᔕɿɱƿՆעᗰעς੮ע 's Ragnol & Dust Devil
The commander had looked back at Ragnol, preparing to leave, she quietly adjusted herself in the dark brown saddle— which almost perfectly blended in with the beautiful drake's hairy scales. Due her once, constant journeys on her elegant beast, she was simply accustomed to where the saddle had been. Though Celestial had been a devious little trouble-maker when a mere hatchling, she had definitely matured— her face now tight against her cranium's base, and instead, she had grown slightly out of being her rebel self. Although it wasn't hard to catch the dragon causing havoc around the Village when bored, Celestial Solstice had grown into a more reserved femme, having looking elegant, she was beginning to act like it. The scales around her thin, muscular calves were covered in beautiful, long scales that made her appear like she was royal.
Her gaze was back on Ragnol, watching his new demeanor become quiet and somewhat... gray. She didn't know why he would be— after all, he's out of that cramped area of where he worked. It was constantly hot due to the furnace, and dealing with some people that were completely unhappy and rude could already affect his cute, bubbly and shy nature. Not to mention how he almost got eaten by a nasty flame— Ragnol didn't need to work that job. If only she wished to tell him how she felt about everything. Ever since she became Commander, they fell apart, which greatly damaged her. She was already broken from their friendship with Ismene falling out when they were younger, and even the deaths of her parents broke her.
She watched a smile form onto his saddened face, and she, herself, felt a smile peak a the corner of her heart-shaped lips. She was glad someone was there for Ragnol when she couldn't be. After all, she wasn't there for three years now.
Her thoughts began to wash away once her own creature lurched forward and a coo came out irritated. Astera, herself, gave a loving smile as she knew her own companion was there for her, but thinking about the rare noise, she looked back at Dust Dev to see what the commotion was. She felt the signature move when the Woolly Howl took off, and instantly, Astera turned her head back forward and wrapped her arms around Celestial, afraid to fall even when strapped. The takeoff was quick, and a woosh of air could be heard as she was pushed forward, spirling before landing in the air to fly.
She whooped as her beloved companion continued to entertain and brighten her spirits. Something she absolutely loved, was when Celestial showed off her abilities. It was amazing and beautiful the way it spiraled. However, when the Woolly Howl shot it upwards, it wasn't until she was right under the fire that she knew the drake's plan. She quickly cried out and unbuckled the belt, diving towards the ground as the explosions from above echoed throughout the sky. She wasn't scared of falling, but as she began to get closer to the ground, she began to worry about her health. Suddenly, she was gaining closer that began to worry her, and immediately as she thought of this, her own companion caught her.
Relieved, Astera gently let out a sigh and leaned against the neck of the Woolly Howl. She hugged Celestial as she began to slow down and land at the peak of the heart. "I rather die than get hit by those things." She groaned softly, running her hand against Celestial's scales.
~ Celestial Solstice was now dazed, wondering why Dust Devil kept changing her mind. The beautiful sand-beast wasn't often this bipolar, and to her deny of the challenge, the Woolly Howl felt humiliated. Instead, she gave a coo of irritation, apologizing, and immediately taking off to avoid the awkward confrontation. She felt the light vibrations before her own rider's giggle came to her hears. Giving a warm coo, she tilted her head back to look at Astera, pupils wide, and her scales blew in the wind as they continued to glide in the air. She let out a roar that was playful, and she could tell by the "oh no"s continuously spewing from the brunette's mouth. She wiggled her body mid-air, never once did her wings move, and she opened her mouth to exposed purple gums and the surrounding interior, including her lavender tongue. In the back of her throat began to form her blast, and she shot it into the distance, it shot spirally, rapidly firing six times before it exploded, creating beautiful crystals of ice that hailed down into the area nearby. She could hear Astera "whoop" in glee, knowing this was something she enjoyed watching.
Celestial purred at the hearing and shot once more, only with an angle that of slightly upwards. She sped up her pace, wings working as she raced towards the shot, and smirked at the cry that Astera released. "No, Celestia, don't!" and suddenly, she heard the clanking of the safety belt and the large multitudes of explosions above her. She let out a roar of surprise, heading towards her rider in mid-air.
She continued downwards, and as the rider continued downwards, Celestial noticed the approaching ground, which happened to be the sand of the Black Heart Bay. She grinned and before her rider could hit the Earth's beach-y surface, she scooped Astera from the air and she happened to land perfectly into her saddle. She felt the soothing hand run across her, and the soft words escape the leader's mouth. The only thing she did was smile, amused that Astera was breathy.
Luca gagged at even the suggestion "This shirt was expensive! If I stained it with blood I'll never get it out." Zero licked his lips and felt his stomach grumble. Luca knew that the dragons were hungry, and he wouldn't mind getting something to eat either. But there was no way he would be doing the dirty work himself "We can go back and you can play around in the blood and gore all you want while I get the butcher to do mine. Then we can get something to eat."
If they left the animals in a tree somewhere another dragon could come along and snatch them. Since they would have the scent of Luca and Juno around them it was unlikely they'd be taken, but there were brave and foolish dragons that might just consider it. Zero huffed and nodded as if he was agreeing with Luca.
"I'm sure the butcher wouldn't be against you doing your own work. Juno there looks like she might flay me if we don't get something to eat." not that she'd be able to. Luca didn't say that out loud though. The dragon may not kill him, but her claws and fangs were stained scarlet and he didn't want deer blood on him as much as he didn't want boar blood on him. Zero changed his gliding direction just enough to get them headed back towards Berk.
. Ragnol Ulfketil . Rider of Dust Devil the Sand Wraith [ The Village Forge | 【 ᵗʷᶦˡᶦᵍʰᵗ 】 's Astra & Celestial ]
The duo rose swiftly to the cloudy layer of the sky, the formless blanket engulfing them and momentarily limiting their vision. Icy moisture saturated the air, making silvery droplets of water condense and run down the length of his arm, soaking into the man’s exposed sleeve. A blurred emerald mass fluttered past his head, and he managed to catch sight of a terrible terror, its wings pumping frantically. Dust Devil lunged at the petite drake playfully, jaws agape and forked tongue lashing. The small dragon shrieked as the Sand Wraith’s pointed incisors snapped together a hair’s breadth behind its tail. It gave an affronted chatter and darted away, disappearing into the haze with the frenzied thumping of its wings fading to silence.
The rather comical occurrence faded to the back of their minds as they breached the top of the clouds. Dev’s scales were covered with thousands of water droplets, reflecting tiny rainbows and shimmering with the black of her scales. Ragnol shook himself, spraying water from his clothes and laughing at the wondrous sight. The ocean stretched far and wide in all directions, shimmering in beads of bright color; hugging the vegetated island tightly in its grip. The trees on the mountains gave way to thick glaciers, blue and white under the sun; its glare hard on his eyes, though not enough to deter him from looking away. Despite witnessing the picturesque landscape time and time again, the blacksmith could never get accustomed to seeing the beauty, the freedom he felt whilst in the sky. He inhaled the freshness of the air, feeling its raw power invigorate his very being with a chilled force. A bellow escaped him as he exhaled, his Sand Wraith following in kind with her own dominant roar. His thoughts had just about calmed when his ears caught the harsh sound of multiple explosions. Head shooting over his shoulder, Ragnol witnessed Celestial blasting several spheres of hoarfrost, which exploded just overhead to rain down sharpened fragments of hail. Dev tilted her wings to the right, banking away from the projectiles’ range with a grunt of mild annoyance. However, the rider was more concerned about Astera’s wellbeing and kept his gaze trained on the maiden—when suddenly she unbuckled from her saddle and began to fall! That caught the man’s attention and he flinched back in shock, not able to hold back a yell: “Astera!” Without thought, the man moved his feet free from within the confides of his stirrups and jumped after the plummeting woman; not stopping to hear Dev’s croon of alarm. He didn’t quite know what he’d accomplish with two falling individuals, but he simply knew he could trust his dragon to be fast enough to catch him—so if he managed to catch Astera midair, they’d both be saved by the agile, sandy drake.
The distance between both humans quickly closed in gap as he zoomed forward—limbs tucked closely to his sides. Only when he thought he could touch her did he finally reach out his arm, intending to grab her by the hand. Talons dug into right leg before he could accomplish such a feat, and he watched in terror as land and lass nearly became one. Nearly.
Just then, a furry form darted into his range of vision and plucked the woman from splattering into gory mess all throughout the sand. He gave a groaning sigh of relief, sagging into his Sand Wraith’s protective grip. Dust Devil swerved down to the ground, landing elegantly on her hind legs to gently let the upside form of Ragnol go, before dropping to all fours herself; bundling him close to her chest in comfort. The blacksmith appreciated the gesture, as it managed to calm him down a bit; racing heart becoming a rather normal thrum rather than an a roaring presence at the back of his ears. He stumbled into a standing position and darted forward, taking Astera into a brief hug before grabbing her by the shoulders to give her a concerned, hard stare.
“Are you alright?” he breathed out, still a bit panicked despite his receding heartbeat.{ x } Everything was going fine until the familiar sound of a dragon’s firepower exploded behind her. With an annoyed grumble, she swerved out from the path of sleet and hail; not particularly in the mood of being pelted with either. She felt Ragnol shift atop her back, sensing his apprehension and uneasiness. The Sand Wraith attempted to give a croon of comfort to assure him they’d both be fine, when the man gave a gasp.
Curious, the drake peered beneath her, surprised to see Astera’s body falling through the sky. Just then, the weight disappeared off her back and she jolted to give a croon of alarm—more concerned over the safety of her own rider than that of Celestial’s own. After all, the Woolly Howl was in charge of protecting the human alpha, whilst the Sand Wraith was in charge of doing the same for Ragnol.
As a result, the dragon folded her wings close to her sides, darting after her charge in a flurry of maneuvers. Able to properly scan the situation from afar, Dev realized her rider’s intentions. He had leapt, knowing full well his dragon would be there to catch them, so he’d applied the same logic to Astera should he catch her falling form. However, with her sweeping gaze, the beast caught sight of her colleague swiftly flying to the rescue of her rider. Putting two and two together, Dust Devil zoomed faster and plucked Ragnol from the sky, at the same time Celestial did her human.
The Sand Wraith could feel the human’s troubled heartbeat and gave a croon of comfort as they landed. She even offered him a dragon hug, which she felt him lean into with a sigh of relief. Dev gave one last trill of assurance before she left to confront the Woolly Howl.
Fanning open her wings in a cue for dominance, she marched over, fully aware her status superseded the opposing dragon’s. As a result, she expected Celestial to respect that and take the proper form of submission. The femme gave a warning chatter, horns rattling slightly in agitation.
'What was that?' she demanded, a bit more authoritative than she would have liked, yet it had to be done. 'You nearly got someone hurt! You not only endangered Astera, but Ragnol as well. You know how protective he gets sometimes!' Her eyes softened slightly and she sighed. 'Just... Be careful next time, alright? I don't want anybody getting hurt, unintentional or not.'
. Artemis Kollsvein . Rider of Juno the Stormcutter [ Misty Backwoods' Sky | 𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚔𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛 's Luca Halvar & Zero ]
Artemis couldn’t help but laugh at his comment and gave him a sort of playful look. “Oi! Don’t you have like, millions of the same shirt? I’m sure you can spare at least one!” Her grin turned mischievous. “I won’t feel as bad if I have a little mistake during work. ‘Playing with blood and gore’ indeed.” It was then the viking puffed out her chest; it was her turn to boast. “Well I’ll have you know I’m a qualified butcher and a cook as well! I wouldn’t mind cooking us some fresh venison or pork. Maybe we could invite some of the gang over—this stag won’t eat itself y’know! Then again…”
The warrior trailed off, knowing full well that her appetite would definitely allow for a full buck, plus some. But where would her manners be if that were to occur? She didn’t have a chance to continue pondering when Juno simply began to move.
She didn’t have to tap in the direction of where they were headed, the Stormcutter merely knew where to go without having a location seeded in her mind. Shifting her weight to the right, the beast banked towards the direction of Berk. The wind whistled in her ears as they glided, this time peacefully and without the excitement of racing or hunting.
“Just as a heads up, Juno probably wouldn’t flay you. Initially, anyways. She prefers her enemies to suffer, so it’ll be mostly limb ripping and bone snapping. Then perhaps a light torching to send you straight to Valhalla.” She patted her dragon’s neck affectionately, almost proud by her ferocity. “Good thing the two of you aren’t enemies though!”
Instead of agreeing with her rider, the Stormcutter gave a low, dark warble and shifted to gaze ominously at Luca with her two, round black eyes. Her head fans vibrated slightly, almost threatening in fashion. Artemis seemed not to notice Juno’s actions and continued on riding normally.
Astera Fyrason - Rider of Celestial Solstice the Woolly Howl Black Heart Bay ᔕɿɱƿՆעᗰעς੮ע 's Ragnol & Dust Devil
She shivered slightly. Although it was warm at the Black Heart Bay, on the way to carrying her to land, the furry drake have considered it would be funny to create a series of blasts into the body below, and as they ruptured underwater, fountains spewed outwards which managed to dust tiny droplets that formed mist onto the brunette. She groaned at the slightly wet figure of her, as the white shirt she was wearing was beginning to stick onto her body. It was nothing serious, but it annoyed her that Celestial always managed to pick the days to do things when Astera wears a white shirt. Perhaps being dropped in the air would dry me off, she thought playfully.
When Astera had been in the air, there was no way you couldn't catch the sight of her face. The under of her eyes were raised upwards, lips tugging upwards to form her sweet smile, and her eyes were wide open, with a twinkle inside of those honey-colored optics that you could sense the admiration of the land surrounding her and happiness within her soul. Typically you couldn't discover that twinkle in her eyes unless you confronted her late at night when she sat at the cliffside and watched the stars next to the ocean. Once she used to have that same exact twinkle, but it was when the innocence was prominent in her personality, and she did nothing but giggle and ask questions. The main reason that shine in her warm eyes is hard to find, was because of the death of her mother. Ever since, it's rare to catch that spark hiding within her welcoming eyes.
Before she could hit the sand, Astera closed her eyes in happiness, and the more she thought about it, the more she was content with being in the air. Sure, she had a great fear of heights when she was juvenile, but it's been eleven years since she got over that fear. Being out with the clouds was something she definitely enjoyed now, and despite her once fear, she always wanted to touch the clouds.
When she jumped off her dragon, she did recall hearing a voice from above, but she didn't expect the man to worry, after all, all of their dragons had their trust and it was mutual. Celestial had always been there for Astera, and Ragnol should've known that. That is, if he was worried. As on cue, she heard the struggle of limbs brushing against the sand and a taller presence pulling her tightly against his own toned physique. The leader froze at the sudden touch and coming to a realization that it was truly the red-head embracing her, she slowly leaned into his touch and placed her arms on the square of his back. Just as she did so, her childhood companion pulled away and placed his hands on her shoulders. The stern glare boring into her skin, she looked up in surprise and gave a slight squeak to his sudden actions. Embarrassed, her face flushed and she looked down. It wasn't just because of the sudden contact with her and his concerned features, but instead, the emotions swirling inside of his wide chocolate brown eyes. She could see the amount of concern she had, and hummed in response, unable to find herself at words. Ragnol hadn't been this close in... years.
Slowly taking her hands away from her face, she gently brushed her hair behind her ear and looked up at the masculine, nodding innocently. "Y-Y-Y-Yeah I'm fine? I jumped off because Celestia knows I don't like when she does that. She was just being playful since she's not very cuddly like Dev." Nobody made her feel this way but him. It was odd, the way her confidence in front of him crumbled and she was shy. They never used to be like this. She didn't mind being the grossest she could be around him or lick his cheek around to gross him out. Astera never minded, but yet again, here she is, stumbling for words and couldn't even make eye contact with the male. His warm breath brushing against her damp cheeks from the earlier contact of water with Celestia.
~ The Woolly Howl knew it was a fun decision to raise the spirits of Astera, after all, the Bay was both, their favorite place. The fact to leave Astera's cramped home and to get fresh, salty air meant she was in a much better mood, having it as she never liked leaving Astera alone in the home. Although Mika was a great company to her rider, Celestial never liked to leave Astera without bigger protection and company.
Hearing the whoops and shouts of her own companion after taking flight and being turned down by the Delta, Celestial's unprofessional excitement grew more and more. Encouraged by her rider, the brown-scaled dragon fired into the water below and decided to create a beautiful twist of water, misting herself and her owner in happiness. Astera never complained and gently continued to stroke along the side of her neck even after she hopped down. That is, until Ragnol hugged her. Though delighted at the confrontation, she was confused as she why he was so worried, and seeing the approaching Sand Wraith with her wings unfurled dominantly.
Her gaze hardened immediately, and her wings sprout out in a calming, yet serious position. 'Me playing with Astera. She does it all the time Dev, don't give me that.' Her lavender eyes were still soft, with her gaze just as challenging as Dust Devil. 'I didn't know Ragnol was to jump,' She paused, and gently nuzzled the side of Dev's neck. Out of the two, Celestial could be seen as more calm and collected, despite her demeanor around Vikings. 'I suppose that was my fault, but we still had them. Don't get defensive because I'm having my fun-time with Astera.'
Though her wording was harsh, Celestial's mellow voice and the low purr that emitted her throat when she nuzzled Dev was anything but harsh. Sure, she was telling the Delta what was right, but she wasn't going to take the blame for Ragnol jumping. 'Hey, but we seem to have gotten them close.' It was an odd moment, but hopefully, the Tidal class dragon could understand the emotions they were beginning to experience. Astera was scared to jump, but Ragnol was scared she was going to get hurt. 'You may be mad at me, but maybe I can make it up? Catch you the biggest, slimiest fish ever?' Although the Woolly Howl understood the human emotions and thinking more than Dust Devil. she was still a dragon. She jumped down onto all fours, her wings now tightly curled into her sides and a playful expression easily drawn onto her face, hopeful that Dust Devil wouldn't be as upset.
Eira nodded in agreement and looked towards her rider. She tilted her head to the side as Percy spoke "It's at an island just east of here. If we fly that way I bet we would see it." a ship wreck couldn't be that hard to miss, especially if it was going to have some sort of dragon activity around it. Eira sighed, it was just like her rider to get into something like this. It was a good thing she was around or he might end up dying off.
Percy walked over to Eira and patted her side confidently before climbing up onto the saddle strapped to her neck near her shoulders. She shifted so the saddle fit more comfortable against her scales and waited for his order to fly. Once Percy was ready he nodded to her and she opened her wings. It only took a few beats of her large wingspan for them to lift into the air.
"I hope it hasn't sunk yet, or been washed back into the ocean by the waves." Percy called down to the other rider "I just heard about it this morning though, so I bet we'll be able to see it." Davyn sort of smirked at the thought of going out for a while. Although it felt weird for him not to be by his Commander's side, the moments like these were also entertaining. "Should still be fine if you heard of it this morning.." The Second in Command swiftly jumped on his dragon's back and patted the side of the beast. Nightshade expanded his wings and with a few beats of his wings, he and his rider were in the air. He let his tails drag a bit but they were still entwined just in case something attacked. "I do hope we see some dragons. I am getting a bit rusty.." He grinned slightly but there was some malicious intent behind the small smile. Davyn looked straight ahead as if he were on a mission. "Lead the way," he extended his arm. The rider patiently waited for the other to go ahead before he followed suit with his own dragon.
