Mudpaw set down her mice before waiting for Duskstorm so they could go back out again. "Did you prefer battle training or hunting training when you were an apprentice?" She looked curiously up at him. "And did you and Wolfbite ever argue about things?" She glanced over toward the elders den, feeling a little bad for the youngest cat there. It was the goal of all to serve the long life of a warrior, yet his was cut short. At least he got to listen to Stormsong's good stories and comedic complaining though.

‘I preferred hunting.’ Duskstorm replied. ‘When I was an apprentice, I was gangly, weak, and the runt of the lot. But Wolfbite taught me to be brave. And we argued constantly.’ He chuckled, looking down at her. ‘About everything. But I’d never have wanted a different mentor.’ He followed her gaze to the den. The cat was lying outside of it in a patch of sunlight. The boredom on his face was clear, watching some of the apprentices playfighting, his tail twitching as if he wanted to join in.

Mudpaw listened curiously, interested in what Duskstorm said. "Wolfbite sounds great. Sounds like he would've trained a lot of good warriors. Like you." All the older cats did. "I'm going to grow into a good warrior. Survive every Leaf Bare and die an old elder." Though honestly, any death besides the hunt would be preferred.

He chuckled softly, studying her with a rare softened gaze. ‘I’m sure that you will, little one. But you need to work hard for it. Why don’t you go help Wolfbite gather fresh moss for his nest? He’ll appreciate the company, and you can tell him what you’ve done this morning.’

Mudpaw nodded happily, and moved to hop over to Wolfbite. She paused after a few steps though, saying "My squirrel is still out there though." She tried to put on her best "please?" face as she looked back at him, asking "Can you go and get it though? I'll carry more prey back next time we go hunting, I promise!" Before she got an answer though, she was already running over to Wolfbite, saying "Duskstorm sent me over to help you collect moss!"

Duskstorm chuckled, shaking his head and turning to head back out to where they’d been hunting, to fetch back the rest of their kills.
Wolfbite grunted as she ran over, looking at her and squinting. Ah, Duskstorm’s apprentice. ‘Of course he did.’ He grumbled. ‘Brat thinks I’m not capable of fetching my own Moss.’ He heaved himself to his paws though, not about to let the kid get bored and down because of him. ‘Come on then.’ He huffed. ‘You go first. I can’t remember where it’s at.’ Lying, clearly- of course he knew where it was. It was just better to let the apprentices find their way around on their own.

Mudpaw smiled and turned to go where the moss was kept. She had to think about it though, judging by how she slowed down a few times. Soon enough though, moss was in sight. Claws sliding out, she began to hook at the moss. "So... how have you been?" A feeble attempt at conversation, with an obvious answer, but she didn't want to bombard him with questions so soon.

He chuckled quietly. ‘Bored.’ He said. ‘Don’t get many visitors. Nice when I do.’ He watched her. ‘Pull it up from the sides. You’ll get less stuck between your toes.’ He limped forwards, showing her how with one of his own massive paws, before gathering it into a ball.

Mudpaw did as told, pulling the moss from the sides. As she worked, she decided "I'll visit you when I can." Even though they didn't really know each other, but that's how friends were made. Plus, she didn't mind getting to know the cat Duskstorm spoke so highly about. "Um... if you don't mind me asking... what do you miss most about being a warrior?"

He glanced at her with new warmth when she promised to visit, then hummed and sat back on his haunches, his bad leg at an awkward angle. ‘Patrolling.’ He said, quietly gazing around. ‘I normally took the early morning patrols. Liked to do em alone sometimes. Being able to hunt for myself.’ He paused, then chuckled, looking at her. ‘Having an apprentice. You younguns don’t realise how happy and proud you make your mentors.’

As the Cherrypaw slept, her breathing was rhythmic. Her chest rising and falling. She wasn't dreaming or if she was she didn't know it. The she-cat blinks her eyes open with a small yawn as she rises, pushing herself out of the nest and into the camp area. Cherrypaw's eyes adjust to the change in light as she looks around the camp.

Whisperfur was sat just outside of the warrior's den, humming to herself as she sat grooming herself from time to time. It seemed to be a nice day out and Whisperfur was generally enjoying herself as she observed the surrounding scenery.
((My tom will be up tomorrow im drained from making eight cats for another clan so ill have him up tomorrow! sorry!!

Liked to do em alone sometimes. Being able to hunt for myself.’ He paused, then chuckled, looking at her. ‘Having an apprentice. You younguns don’t realise how happy and proud you make your mentors.’ Mudpaw tilted her head. She'd gone on a few patrols before, but never on her own. Not yet. As she collected some more moss, she listened to what else Wolfbite said, and smiled widely. "It's a good thing we all have good mentors then." She'd seen SolarClan at the one gathering she'd gone to, and they didn't look too friendly. "Do you think clans will ever stop fighting?" she highly doubted it herself though, honestly. From what the legend was though, the clans now had it good compared to when there were none. "I just hope my first battle is later rather than sooner..."

He paused, quietly turning his gaze upwards at her question. ‘I... can’t answer that, little one.’ He quietly murmured. ‘False hope isn’t something I like to give.’ He turned to look at her. ‘But I hope your first fight is a long way away as well.’ He playfully placed his paw on her head- it was nearly bigger than it. ‘Don’t worry about it. Just try your best, work hard. What comes will come.’

Mudpaw seemed to accept that answer for the most part, then smiled again when Wolfbite placed his paw on her head. Finishing up with the moss, she looked over at him with all she had collected and asked "Is this enough? Or should I get more?" For some reason, she liked doing little chores like this, despite warriors telling her about how much they'd hated chores. An ear twitched as she waited for an answer.

‘It’s more than enough.’ Wolfbite said, gently nudging her with his nose. ‘Come on, lets take it back to the den.’ He gathered some up into his mouth, wrinkling his nose at the taste, then began to limp his way back. No matter how injured the cat was, he always held his head high with pride.

Mudpaw gathered the rest of the moss, trying to ignore the less-than-desired taste. Following after Wolfbite, she took the moss over to the elders den to help him fix up the nest. As she set her moss down, she looked over as Stormsong showed up, the old tom leaning close to be able to properly be nosy with his poor eyesight. Mudpaw greeted him kindly, and could only smile in amusement as he grumbled about why she didn't get him any moss, even though he had his replaced yesterday.

‘You can have some of mine, you old codger.’ Wolfbite grumbled, limping over to the toms nest and placing what he’d carried back into it, before arranging it properly. ‘There.’ His insult was in jest- Wolfbite was fond of the elders, and had eagerly helped them as an apprentice and as a young warrior. When he’d been prematurely made an elder, they’d welcomed him kindly as he’d struggled to adjust. He moved over to Mudpaw, showing her where his own nest was so that she could sort it for him, before he heaved a sigh. ‘Is Duskstorm keeping on top of your battle training?’ He grumbled, looking at her. ‘You still look a little wirey. Like he did. Hated it with a passion till he got the hang of it.’
