... About The Clan : CoyoteClan is a clan that makes its home in a large forest besides the sea. They tend to be skilled in both climbing and swimming due to the location and rather rocky terrain of their home. Due to where they live, the clan does not experience a ton of snow during leaf bare but the rainstorms tend to be rather intense during the season.
CoyoteClan cats were once welcoming to outsiders, often allowing for rogues, loners or even kittypets to join their ranks. However, as of late, they have become very closed off from accepting outsiders and a great deal of the clan has even developed a general dislike of outsiders, believing them to be untrustworthy and lacking loyalty. The clan tends to value loyalty and pride.
Cats within this clan come in a wide variety of sizes and color. They are rather diverse due to their history of accepting outsiders but a good deal of the clan tends to have short-fur with long, powerful legs that aid them in both swimming and climbing.
... Current Plot : It was once a rather peaceful clan, content with sticking to the territory they had claimed and rarely finding much issues with outsiders. However, this all changed when a cat known as Mothshade rose to leadership. Mothstar was an ambitious and rather cruel cat whom believed that the clan should have full reign of the whole forest, including the part passed the stream that acted as a natural border between the clan and rogues that wished to live away from the two-leg place.
Mothstar went to war with the rogues and loners living there. At first, it seemed like an easy victory. The rogues were unprepared and not as well organized. That is, until a small group of clan cats turned traitor. Lead by a warrior named Sunny, formerly known as Goldenpelt, the ex-clan cats aided the rogues, training and fighting alongside them. The tides quickly turned and CoyoteClan began to lose. Many cats were injured and a great deal died but Mothstar showed no signs of giving up despite the great amount of losses the clan was going through.
Eventually, his own medicine cat, Gullswoop, began to secretly turn against him. He began to plot his leader's demise and did so by sharing a fake prophecy with his young deputy, Laketalon. She was appointed after his old deputy died from battle wounds and was likely chosen due to the fact that she was Mothstar's own daughter. Laketalon, unlike her father, wasn't ambitious or looking to take over the forest but her loyalty to her clan and it's leader kept her from doing anything to try and convince him to step down. That is, until Gullswoop convinced her that StarClan wanted her to stop Mothstar.
Mothstar was eventually killed by Laketalon but none of the clan knows this aside from Gullswoop, the medicine cat. The rest of the clan believes that Mothstar was killed by one of Sunny's rogues. Laketalon has now become Lakestar and is looking to repair the clan after the damage her father has done. But there's still storm brewing both in and outside the clan. Many cats in the clan want vengeance for Mothstar's death and despite Lakestar's call for peace, Sunny and his rogues still threaten the clan's borders, seeming to grow just as greedy for territory as Mothstar once was.

Territory : CoyoteClan territory is a mixture of rocky terrain and dense shrubbery. Trees are usually spread fairly far apart and there is a wide range of varying types, including oaks, willows, and California pepper trees. However, the large amounts of bushes and boulders between the trees makes it a bit difficult to navigate for those unfamiliar with the territory. There’s also the potential of stumbling into the occasional cactus that often appear in a few small patches of the territory. 1. Fisher's Pond - A small pond of water that is often a great place to fish. Though fishing is possible throughout the whole river. Cats occasionally come here for a swim as well and tends to be a good place to teach younger cats how to swim as well due to the calm waters. 2. Hollow Patch - Two large, hollowed out tree trunks. These trunks have small holes that let in sunlight and are filled with dirt. Medicine cats often use them as gardens to grow herbs since the are usually protected from weather and are near water. 3. Rocky Bridge - A bridge of rocks that connect the two separated sides of the river. They are almost always safe to use except when the river has flooded. 4. Camp - The camp is located within two large, draping pepper trees that are surrounded with rocks and a couple thorny bushes.
- Leader’s den - The leader’s den is located between the trunk of the second tree and a large boulder. Any gaps between the two have been filled with leafy branches. The den is at the back of the camp.
- High Rock - The large boulder next to the leader’s den. It is the highest place in camp, aside from higher tree branches.
- Medicine Cat Den - Not far from the leader’s den, the medicine cat den is located diagonal from it on the right side of camp. It’s made mostly out of branches and smaller rocks for stability. Inside there is quite a bit of room, allowing for at least 4 cats to sleep there at a time. A small storage area for herbs has been designed out of small twigs and flat river rocks.
- Nursery - Right across from the medicine cat den is the nursery. It’s a large burrow, likely caused by another animal, that is underneath a few roots from the trees. It’s opening is lined with leafy stems to keep out the cold.
- Elder Den - Next to the medicine cat den, is the elder’s den. It’s located at the base of the first tree in the camp. It’s made from a small cave that lies under some of the large roots of the tree. It’s made stable from a few rocks and thick branches.
- Apprentice Den - Next to the nursery is the apprentice den. Like the medicine cat den, it’s made out of branches and smaller rocks.
- Warrior Den - Across from the apprentice den is the warrior den. The den is nearest to the camp entrance. Most of it is made from rocks that have caused a small cave to form.
5. Starry Cavern - The Starry Cavern is where cats go to speak with StarClan. It isn't too far of a journey but there is always a chance of running into some hostile rogues. 6. Two-leg Place - The two-leg place stretches along both CoyoteClan territory and rogue territory. Occasionally dogs and two-legs wander into the territories from there causing a bit of trouble every now and then. 7. The Ocean - The ocean is located on one of the far sides of both territories. Most cats don't get too close to the water as the edge of the territory is lined with dangerous cliffs. Sometimes tide pools form and cats can find small fish and other shell life here. It's also a good place to hunt birds but caution is needed around the cliff edges. 8. Rogue Territory - This is where Sunny and his band of rogues make their home, along with a few other rogues and loners. ...Prey & Predators Prey : Small Birds [Very Common] Fish [Very Common] Mice [Common] Voles & Shrews [Common] Rats [Uncommon] Squirrels [Uncommon] Rabbits [Rare] Large Birds [Rare] Snakes [Rare]
Predators : Rogues [Very Common] Two-legs [Common] Dogs [Common] Raccoons [Common] Large Birds [Uncommon] Foxes [Uncommon] Coyotes [Rare] Bobcats [Rare] Rattlesnakes [Rare]
... Weather : Leaf Fall [ X] - There’s a small chilly breeze. Mornings are crisp and some of the leaves are changing colors. Leaf bare [ ] New Leaf [ ] Green Leaf [ ]

Allegiances :
Leader - Lakestar || She-cat || 26 Moons || brambleflightA small, muscular she-cat. She has a gray pelt with a light brown underbelly. Her eyes are a vibrant blueish-green. Lakestar holds herself with clear authority and grace. Though she can be a bit intimidating, Lakestar is actually a kind cat who tries her best to look out for those she cares about. She is, however, a bit too trusting and can be naive in this regard. She cares deeply about her clan and is very hard working, often running herself thin as she is a bit of a people-pleaser. Lakestar was born in CoyoteClan. She rose to the high position of deputy at a surprisingly young age due to her father favoring her. She never approved of his actions and often just went along with them to avoid conflict until she was eventually convinced by the medicine cat to kill him. Lakestar is still worried cats may discover the truth behind the death of their former leader. Lives Left : 9
...Deputy - TBD ...Medicine Cat - Gullswoop || Tom || 65 Moons || brambleflight A tall tom with white fur with silver flecks throughout it. He has pale blue eyes. Gullswoop is sneaky and manipulative. He actually doesn't believe in StarClan but has fake his belief for many, many moons. He is very loyal to his clan but his loyalty is twisted with lies and false prophecies that he deems are necessary for the betterment of the clan as a whole. He is a very clever cat, who can be quite cruel if he thinks it means that it'll aid his clan. He hides his twisted ways through a generally calm and kind demeanor. Gullswoop was born outside the clan and was abandoned by his mother in Clan territory as a kit. The clan took him in and Gullswoop tried to work hard to repay them. He was a terrible warrior though and even his mentor at the time belittled him for his lack of ability. He soon found his calling lied in medicine and even faked a sign from StarClan so that the medicine cat at the time would take him as an apprentice. ...Medicine Cat Apprentice - Pebblepaw || She-cat || 7 moons || MadFaith Pebblepaw is an unusually petite she-cat, standing quite a bit shorter than most cats her age, often getting confused for a kit. She has a mottles pelt, splashes of white, ginger, brown and grey. Her eyes are a pale blue-grey and seem striking next to her pelt, one of her more noticeable traits. Pebblepaw is a wallflower to those she just meets, not a huge fan of large situations, especially ones where she is the center of attention. The quiet she-cat is actually quite goofy when she warms up others, and becomes quite the small ball of energy, turning into more of an extroverted introvert. She is quite level-headed and will sometimes overthink her situations. She was the only kit born to Brightmoss, but her mother was very sick when she was pregnant. Pebblepaw was the only kit born and was very sickly, not expected to make it past one moon. As a kit, she spent a lot of time in the medicine cat's den which pushed her towards wanting to continue on that path. ...

Allegiances :
Senior Warriors - Coonstripe || Tom || 42 || MadFaith Coonstripe is a massive cat, he has been one since birth and his thick pelt only adds to his size. He holds quite the intimidating presence, bright amber eyes that stand out against his brown tabby pelt, mottled with dark and light brown colours. He has white paws and a white ‘mane,’ chest, and underbelly. Coonstripe is a rock of a cat, both in appearance, but also in personality. He is very constant and predictable, never having massive bursts of energy or a large fluctuation of emotion. He holds fast to tradition and to the warrior code, holding very little respect for those that don't. He is a very serious cat, many young cats joke that he has never laughed or had fun. He does not like kits, believes them to be too rowdy, and can barely tolerate apprentices. ...
Warriors- Wolfhowl || Tom || 36 moons || Wildfire* - - - 🦇 He is a rather large, grey tom with lighter grey socks on his legs and muzzle. His eyes are strange with one eye being yellow and the other being blue. Wolfhowl is a large tom with large ears, a slightly long muzzle, large paws, and a strangely bushy tail. He looks like what he is named after. His eyes are more rounded than most. He does have short fur, but it is just a little longer than most others. His voice is very deep, yet very soothing. He could easily soothe the fussiest of kits. He has a large scar going over his left shoulder and his right ear is nicked from fighting. Wolfhowl is very level headed. It is hard to faze him. He is one of those cats that enjoys problem solving and puzzles. He enjoys a good challenge and is a great strategist. As such, he is rather calm. Some would think he is a "smooth-talker" due to the sound of his voice. But Wolfhowl is just a generally nice cat. He will listen to others to help them with a problem and enjoys being the one people can rant to. He doesn't always need to comment on things and, because some many cats rant to him, he's pretty good at keeping secrets. Wolfhowl was one of the last rogues welcomed into the clan, mostly because he was a kit found at the edge of the territory. Actually, he was gifted to the clan at 6 moons to help prevent any future hostilities (and that worked sooo well). He was given the name Wolfpaw due to his looks and size. As the kit of a rogue, he was less trusted due to growing prejudice. As such, he had to prove himself over and over again, especially to Mothstar. He was usually thrown in front during battles and was forced occasionally last to be healed. While he had a few friends, no one really care. Except his apprentice, Harepaw. He loved teaching her and was utterly heartbroken when she was killed. He decided to keep an eye out for her family. He had tried to protect Marshbreath from dying, but she was lost to madness from grief and hatred. He was as proud as Falconcry when Pepperclaw and Deertrot became warriors, grieved with them both when he died, and mourned even more when Deertrot (who he had come to love) died. Out of respect to the fallen family, Wolfhowl keeps an eye on Pepperclaw. Although the other tom doesn't know it, Wolfhowl has respect for him for keep it together and moving on with his life. ...
Almondfur || Tom || 34 Moons || brambleflight A large, muscular tom with a long scar down his right side. He has sleek, dark brown fur with a white belly and paws. His eyes are a bright yellow. Almondfur is generally friendly who can be a bit hot-headed. He has a fierce temper that is often not expected from his usual upbeat demeanor. He is quite prideful of his clan and is know to occasionally jump into fights to defend his clan's honor, even if it is a bit unnecessary. Almondfur is an optimist and often looks on the bright side of even dark situations. It makes him reluctant to voice his opinions as he can often settle rather than feel the need to oppose change or other such bad times. Almondfur was born and raised in CoyoteClan. During Mothstar's reign, he made the most of the situation at hand, despite even losing some of his loved ones along the way. Instead of blaming his leader, he holds a deep-rooted hatred of the rogues outside the clan, convincing himself that they are the ones to blame rather than one of his own clan-mates. ...
Foxfoot || Female|| 25 moons || Raven A reddish orange she cat with a white paw, white chest and white muzzle. Foxfoot is a nervous she-cat, not really open to the cats around her. She is cowerdly without a doubt and isn't too sure of herself. She does get along with kits and elders more than any of her clanmates. ...
Cactusblaze || Tom || 23 Moons || brambleflight A stocky, short tom with a nick in both of his ears. He has sandy orange fur with dark green eyes. Cactusblaze is a bitter young tom with a sharp tongue. He is very opinionated and can even be a bit disrespectful at times. Many view him as a troublemaker, often quick to argue with those who don't have similar views as his. He's very passionate and doesn't back down easily. Despite his sharp edges, Cactusblaze is a loyal and dependable young warrior who merely wants the best for his clan, even if he doesn't always seem like it. Cactusblaze was born and raised within CoyoteClan. His mother died during a harsh leaf bare and his father was killed during one of the attack patrols lead by Mothstar. His brother, Weaselclaw, also got killed by a rogue during one of the attacks. He grew to despise Mothstar and outsiders after losing two of his family members. Now his only living family is his sister, Heatherpool. ...
Heatherpool || She-cat || 23 Moons || brambleflight A pretty, long-legged she-cat with a scar over her chest. She has pale brown fur with darker brown tabby stripes throughout it. Her eyes are a pale blue. Heatherpool is an uptight she-cat who is often very serious and stern, rarely allowing herself any time to relax. She follows the rules rather blindly and tries her best to stay out of trouble while also looking down upon those that do. Despite her rigidness, Heatherpool is quite gentle and is quick to help others both in and outside of her clan. Heatherpool was born and raised in CoyoteClan. Her mother died during a harsh leaf bare and her father was killed during one of the attack patrols lead by Mothstar. Her brother, Weaselclaw, was also killed during an attack. Now her only living family member is Cactusblaze. ...
Pepperclaw || Tom || 22 moons || Wildfire* - - - 🦇 He is a black tom with ginger patches on his back, shoulders, and on his face. Both his ear tips and tail tip are ginger as well. His eyes are a bright yellow with brown near the pupil. Pepperclaw is a short-ish cat with broad shoulders. He is very muscular, and it shows. His eyes are more almond shaped with pointed ears. His fur is thick but short, like most cats have. Pepperclaw's voice is a little rasp, almost like he has a cough, yet he always sounds the same. His tail is shorter than most, and his paws are slightly larger. Overall, Pepperclaw looks like a tom build to fight. Pepperclaw's personality is similar to how he looks: gruff, sarcastic, blunt, and a little mean. Actually, he is really only that way to his peers, mostly because if they do something wrong, he thinks that they should know better. When it comes to apprentices or kits, it is an odd switch. He becomes much more soft spoken, calmer, kinder, and more good-natured. When asked why, he responds with the fact he wants to encourage him and help them grow. Pepperclaw is a good friend to have due to his own loyalty, but try not to test that. He never forgets if a friend has hurt him. Pepperclaw was born into the clan. His parents Marshbreath (mother) and Falconcry (father) were so happy to have him and his two sisters: Deerkit and Harekit. They lived relatively normal lives. Until Mothstar started war with the rogues. It was terrible for him. His sister Harepaw, was killed by the rogues in one of the first few attacks. Driven by anger and vengence, Marshbreath was next to follow, trying to avenge the murder of her daughter. Falconcry, after the lost of his mate and daughter, became overprotective of Pepperpaw and Deerpaw. However, his loyalty to the clan forced him to continue fighting whenever Mothstar called him into battle. After 8 moons of training, they were given their warrior names: Pepperclaw and Deertrot. It wasn't too long later that Falconcry died due to infection from his many wounds in battle. Worse enough, Deertrot was killed in battle as well. She made a mistake, and it cost her, her life. Pepperclaw was wrapped in grief until Mothstar died. While he was angry for the rogues killing their leader, he was grateful for the fighting to stop.

Eiderpaw || She-Cat || 7 Moons || brambleflight A short, slender she-cat. She is mainly white with gray tabby fur across her back and tail. Her eyes are a dark yellow. Eiderpaw is a quiet and rather reserved young she-cat. She acts very formal around all cats, even those her own age, and seems to have difficulty relaxing enough to have fun. She isn't one to let her anger get the best of her and is usually quite polite. She's very focused on her duties but often gets easily stressed out, which causes her to be moody at times. Eiderpaw is very observant as well and a quick learner. Eiderpaw was born and raised in CoyoteClan. ...
Canarypaw || She-Cat || 9 Moons || brambleflight A long-legged, fluffy she-cat. She has bright orange tabby fur with dark amber eyes. Canarypaw is a cheerful and sociable young cat. She enjoys making friends and can be quite the social butterfly. She's actually quite insecure about herself and her standing in the clan. Despite her desire to be popular, she is not arrogant is rather down to earth. She's also rather brave and can often overcome her fears if it means helping her clan or making a new friend. Admittedly, she can be quite energetic, often making it difficult to keep up with her as she bounces all over. Canarypaw was born outside of the clan as a kittypet. She was abandoned by her owners as a young kit and was eventually taken into CoyoteClan. Due to not being clan born, she worries that some of her clan-mates look down on her or believe that she shouldn't be there, especially since the dislike of outsiders is continuing to grow. ...
Spiderpaw || Tom|| 8 moons || MadFaith Spiderpaw is a very tall tom thanks to his long legs and the added height of his larger than average ears. He has a dark brown, almost black pelt covering his face, head, back, and tail but it lightens significantly as it reaches his underbelly and legs, turning into more of an off-white colour. There are faint tabby stripes visible on his face and back if you look close enough, much more obvious against the lighter fur on his stomach and legs. He has longer fur and vivid green eyes, a stark contrast to his dark face. Spiderpaw is a regal tom and he knows it, he loves attention and is a fantastic actor, knowing how to manipulate others to get what he wants. He often spends time around she-cats flirting and doing his best to make them laugh, but deep down he is really a terribly insecure cat, scared that he is only liked because of the way he looks. He acts like an extrovert, but he is in truth an introvert, large crowds terrify him. ...
Lionpaw || Male || 7 moons || Raven A golden tabby tom with green eyes. He has muscular legs. Lionpaw is a very strong headed cat. He tends to rush into action before doing any thinking, and often times, plays out badly. He's also very friendly, and will talk to a wall if he has too. She has white fur with pale gray on her ear tips, tail tip and a stripe along her back. Softleaf is a reserved and judgemental she-cat. She tends to keep to herself and is very protective of those she is close to. Despite her quiet nature, she is a fierce and proud she-cat, who can be a bit much to handle. Due to her past, she doesn't trust easily and often keeps others at a distance, even her clan-mates. Softleaf was born and raised in CoyoteClan. At a young age, her father, Clayheart, was killed during a fight with rogues. She eventually became mates with a warrior named Crowflame. The two seemed rather close up until Softleaf discovered that he was part of the group that turned against the clan with Sunny. He attempted to get her to join them but Softleaf refused, being far too loyal to her clan and also having a dislike for outsiders. This caused her to grow rather untrusting of the cats around her. Cats Outside The Clan - Sunny || Tom || 45 Moons || brambleflight A handsome and muscular tom. He has bright golden tabby fur with dark yellow eyes. He has a scar on his shoulder and jaw. Sunny is a natural leader, being calm, commanding and brave. However, he is a bit overly-ambitious and greedy. He does truly care about his cats and is very protective of them. Sunny, originally Goldenpelt, was born a rogue and joined the ranks of CoyoteClan at a young age. He was a strong and skilled warrior, who often had high hopes of becoming deputy. However, those hopes were soon crushed as Mothstar rose to power and at first, gave the deputy position over to a close friend then eventually his own daughter. With a mixture of realization that he wouldn't get promoted to deputy and also feeling sympathy for the rogues, Sunny decided to turn against CoyoteClan. He did so successfully and even seems to have unofficially won with Mothstar's death. Traditions : CoyoteClan has a few traditions that have developed over the moons that are a little different than other clans.
1.Assessment System - This system was created by a previous leader named Ashstar, who understood new blood was crucial to maintaining a thriving clan but also valued loyalty amongst clan cats. When an outside wishes to join the clan, they will be able to live within clan borders for half a moon but are forbidden from nearing or entering the actual camp. They are paired up with a warrior who will spend the half moon living with them, teaching them the clan ways, and any other information that is required for them to live amongst the clan. At the end of the half moon, the leader will approach the warrior and ask for a report on the outsider, what they’ve learned, and if they are fit for joining the clan. If the answer is yes, then the outsider will be welcomed into the clan and given a warrior name. The only cats that do not have to endure the Assessment System are cats under the age of 12 moons. As of recent moons, the assessment system has been suspended due to the hostility towards outsiders.
2. Apprentice Games - Every half moon, the clan gathers together for what is called the Apprentice Games. Each apprentice gets to participate in showing off their skills through various games such as sparing, racing, swimming and more. The whole event is often orchestrated by the mentors of said apprentices and is also often used as a way to assess if an apprentice is ready to become a warrior.
3. Mate Ritual - It is custom for cats of CoyoteClan to present a seed to the cat they wish to become mates with. If they accept, the other cat must then plant the seed somewhere in the forest. It is meant to show that they will now be growing together as one rather than two. However, if they cat denies the offer, the seed must then be tossed into the river, as both cats will continue to go their own way.

[Sure I'd be down] Pebblepaw was busying herself in the medicine cat's den, her face scrunched up in concentration as she studied the herbs, going over all of their names and uses in her head. Coltsfoot helps shortness of breath, honey soothes throats, watermint helps bellyache... She made her way through all of the herbs once, twice, three times, doing her best to put each name and use to memory. She wanted to impress Gullswoop, the gruff tom sometimes scaring her, but she liked him as a teacher.
Coonstripe shouldered his way out of the warrior's den, the warm sun hitting his thick pelt. Yawning deeply, the large tom stretched, his muscles rippling under his dark pelt. Shaking the loose moss from his pelt Coonstripe scanned the camp searching for his apprentice. He had made a daily schedule for training, not sure why Lakestar had given him an apprentice, his dislike for them quite evident, but he was, in his eyes, a good warrior, so he partially understood. Atleast she gave me a competent one.
Spiderpaw padded out towards the other apprentices, his tail flicking in greeting. "Good morning!" He settled down beside the two she-cats, his ear flicking lazily. Spotting the large form of Coonstripe lumbering towards them the leggy tom's whiskers twitched in amusement. "That time of day again eh? I sware, that tom has never once smiled. I don't know how you handle it Elderpaw."

Pebblepaw was so focused on her studying that she hadn't noticed the older tom entering the den. Hearing his voice cut through the silence, the small she-cat lept to her paws, her fur bristling slightly. Turning sharply, her heart racing, her fear melted into a smile when she saw her mentor. Forcing her fur to lay flat, Pebblepaw sat down, facing her mentor. "I think I'm doing okay, I might need more time still, but it's coming along, at least I think so."
Coonstripe nodded curtly when he saw Elderpaw moving towards him, glad to see that she was observant at least. "Good morning Elderpaw." The large tom's voice rumbled deeply in his chest, turning and setting a brisk pace out of the camp. Once they exited the camp the tom set their course towards Fisher's Pond. "Today we are working on water skills, fighting as well as fishing." His voice was very monotone as they moved forwards. "What is the first rule of the warrior code." Coonstripe was dedicated to the code, having set the entirety of it to memory. He saw it as the utmost importance for his apprentice to have it memorized by the time she became a warrior.
Spiderpaw chuckled slightly watching Elderpaw leave, "I totally agree. I bet he has never even laughed, like ever. I bet he's a really harsh mentor for her." The young tom shook his head, watching the two cats until they disappeared from his view. Rising to his paws, the tall tom stretched deeply and shook the dust from his dark pelt. "Got any big plans today Canarypaw?"

Gullswoop gave a small nod at her words and took a small bite from his prey. "Well, you still have a ways to go as an apprentice. You'll learn it all eventually." He meowed certainly. The old medicine cat twitched his tail tip and flickered his gaze over to Pebblepaw for a moment. He knew he was growing old and if things went according to plan, once Pebblepaw finished her training, he would retire to the elders den. "Why don't you take a break, Pebblepaw. Grab something to fill your belly and then we'll get started on training today." He meowed.
Eiderpaw dipped her head to her mentor. "Good morning, sir." She greeted in return. Obediently, the apprentice padded after the large tom as he lead the way out of camp. Her ears perked forward again as Coonstripe went on to explain what the training would be for that day. She felt a bit curious to learn about fighting in the water, especially since most of their enemies laid on the other side of the river. Her attention focused back on Coonstripe as he quizzed her about the warrior code. Eiderpaw hesitated. She knew most of the warrior code but had yet to get the order of it even remotely down. She took a random guess. "A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet." She answered with some reluctance.
Canarypaw nodded her head in agreement. At his question, the young apprentice shrugged her shoulders. "Nope! Not really." She admitted with a small sigh. "If I'm lucky maybe I'll get to do some battle training with my mentor though!" She gave a small bounce with an excited gleam in her eye. While she wasn't overly fond of fighting, she did like battle training. Hunting often involved too much waiting and moving slowly for the energetic she-cat. "What about you?"

( Wildfire* - 🦉 and MadFaith I'm thinking Pepperclaw can be Spiderpaw's mentor if that's ok with you two!)

Pepperclaw padded out of the den. The tom had had a rough night. He had been plagued with dreams of his family crying out for him. It had sent shivers running up and down his spine all night and even this morning when he woke. Shaking his fur, the tom moved away from the entrance and began to groom himself. His fur was clumped with scraps of moss in it from his restless dreams. The tom sighed to himself, wondering if he should grab something to eat before heading out.
Wolfhowl glanced over at Pepperclaw as he left the den. The tom had discovered in the middle of the night that the young warrior was having nightmares. Unable to do anything since Pepperclaw had kept waking up, he had tried to rest himself. Wolfhowl nodded to him before padding over to the leader's den. He wanted to know what the patrols were for the day. He also wanted to know what they were doing to prepare for leaf-bare. It was rapidly approaching.
(Sure! Sounds good to me! Can't wait to see how Pepperclaw does with an apprentice with Spiderpaw's attitude.)

{I'm okay with that}
Pebblepaw nodded at the mention of grabbing something to eat, her growling stomach agreeing with her mentor. Moving quickly out of the den, the small mottled she-cat made her way to the fresh-kill pile. Seeing the other apprentices sitting outside, she quickly waved her tail in greeting before grabbing a mouse off the top of the pile. She returned quickly to her mentor, eager to start her training. Sitting down across from her mentor, she set her mouse at her paws, taking a few quick bites, awaiting his next instruction.
"Wrong, that is the fifteenth. The first rule is you must defend your clan with your life." Coonstripes was rather frigid as he corrected his apprentice, not believing in sugar coating his training. If you got it right good, if not, try harder. Coonstripe barely broke stride as he reached Fisher's Pond, wading smoothly into the water, his pelt growing heavier as it got wet. He was never much of swimmer, but he wanted his apprentice to be better than he was, pushing her harder than he pushed himself.
Spiderpaw crouched, his eyebrow-raising mischievously, "Why wait for battle training, Pepperclaw is probably still sleeping." The leggy tom smirked, hoping she would join him, he liked to think of himself as a good fighter, but he wasn't a very humble tom. His head tilted, inviting the she-cat to attack.

Lakestar quietly groomed her fur as she prepared for the day ahead. She paused as she heard pawsteps approaching the den and lifted her head to peer out of the den to see who it was. She sat up a bit straighter as one of the warriors approached the den. "Good morning, Wolfhowl." She meowed once he reached the entrance of the den. The young leader wrapped her tail around her paws and gave him a questioning look. "What brings you here?"
--
Gullswoop watched Pebblepaw leave to get something to eat and relaxed as he enjoyed the rest of his meal. Once the young apprentice returned, he waited for her to finish her meal and began to look over their herb stock. His tail tip twitched in thought for a moment before he turned to Pebblepaw. "Today, we'll start by doing a bit of restocking.. We need more cobwebs and poppy seeds." He mumbled before turning to face Pebblepaw. "Where is the best place to look for these?" he quizzed her.
--
Eiderpaw lowered her gaze momentarily in embarrassment as Coonstripe corrected her. The she-cat gave a small nod, mentally noting what the correct first rule of the code was. Her gaze flickered back ahead as they reached Fisher Pond. While Coonstripe barely slowed down as he stepped out into the water, Eiderpaw did so with a bit more hesitance. She stepped unevenly into the water, not being nearly as smooth about her entrance as her mentor. As she got deeper into the pond, her gaze moved to rest on her mentor. "What are we beginning with?" She asked, awaiting his next instructions.
--
Canarypaw looked over at Spiderpaw as he spoke mischievously. Her gaze brightened a little at his suggestion and she became rather eager to spare against her den-mate. The apprentice grinned at his words and jumped to her paws. "Alright! You're going down though!" She said with a playful growl. She bunched up her hind legs and then lunged forward at Spiderpaw, swiping at his muzzle.

Upon finishing her prey, the small she-cat began licking her muzzle, cleaning off the remains from her meal. Her head tilted slightly at Gullswoops question, before her face brightened, "We would probably be able to find both at the Hollow Patch, I'm sure there are spiders that have made their home in the interior of the tree." As soon as she had said it, she started second guessing herself, her assurance gone, "At least I think so... right?"
Coonstripe watched her entering the water, raising an eyebrow slightly at her momentary hesitation. As soon as she entered fully, he nodded curtly. "The best way to gain the advantage in the water, if it should come to fighting in it, it to become comfortable with it, more specifically, become comfortable holding your breath underwater." He gestured towards her with his head, "See how long you can hold your breath, it is a vital part of much of the tactics of fighting in the water."
Spiderpaw's face lit up when she accepted his challenge, his eyes narrowing playfully as she teased him, "Oh, we'll see about tha-" His retort was cut short as she propelled herself towards him, landing a good hit on his jaw, moving instinctively to the side, the dark-furred tom tried to use her forward momentum to knock her off balance, attempting to shove her with his shoulder.

Gullswoop nodded his head in approval. "That's right." He mused. "The Hollow Patch is the best place to look for most of our herbs... However, there will be times when there isn't enough there or it isn't growing properly. Which is why it's important to learn more about the rest of our territory as well." The old tom gave a small smirk. "I trust that you know what poppy seeds and cobwebs are so today, I'd like you to accompany one of the border patrols to collect these. Don't worry too much if you can't find them easily.. The patrol will likely pass near the Hollow Patch at some point, considering it's near the river border." Gullswoop shrugged his shoulders and met Pebblepaw's gaze. "Do you think you can handle that without me?"
--
Eiderpaw listened to Coonstripe as he went on to explain what she would be doing. As he gestured for her to try holding her breath underwater, the apprentice paused to take in a deep breath before ducking her head under the water. While she could stand wet fur just fine, she didn't really enjoy the feeling that came with have her head underwater. However, she was determined to not let such a thing get in the way. Especially since she figured it would make Coonstripe rather disappointed in her. The apprentice managed to hold her breath for a short time before popping her head back up. She inhaled deeply to catch her breath and gave her head a shake, trying to get the water out of her ears. "How was that?" She panted.
--
Canarypaw skidded to try and slow herself down as Spiderpaw slipped out of the way. However, she wasn't able to avoid him as he gave her a shove with his shoulder. The she-cat stumbled a bit and her claws lightly scraped against the ground as she used them to recover her balance as quick as she could. Canarypaw ducked away for a moment to avoid another attack before moving back towards Spiderpaw, this time aiming a jab at his side.

Pebblepaw glowed slightly at her mentor's praise, nodding slowly as he spoke to her, ears forward, hanging on his every word. When he mentioned accompanying one of the border patrols her eyes widened slightly, her jaw dropping slightly. She did her best to recover quickly, not wanting Gullswoop to second guess her. "I, uh, think I should be able to." She had gone on patrols before, but this would be the first time going alone. "Should I talk to Lakestar about joining one?"
<>
"That was good, for a first try." Coonstripe's complements rarely came without a follow up that nearly negated what he said previously. Giving her a moment to catch her breath, Coonstripe continued, "This next attack is called the Underwater leg sweep, it can be used on either the front leg or the hind leg." Inhaling deeply, the large tom pulled his head underwater, reaching out with a large paw and hooking it around Elderpaw's front paw farthest from him and then tugging sharply.
<>
Sipderpaw grinned as he through Canarypaw off balance trying to follow up with a secondary attack and growling slightly as she ducked out of his reach. Noticing her charging towards his side, he barely managed to step out of the way, his long legs moving him out of her reach. As she passed Spiderpaw reared up, trying to bring both of his front paws down on her back, right between her shoulder blades.

Wolfhowl dipped his head in respect to their new leader. He met her gaze with a kind smile. "Good morning, Lakestar." He rumbled back, voice as deep as ever. "I came to ask about the preparations for leaf-bare. What is the plan for that?" He had this funny feeling that this leaf-bare was going to be long. He couldn't really explain why; it was just something in his gut. As it was, Wolfhowl had this...off feeling right now. He sometimes got it when things didn't go to plan. He had a bad feeling about today.
Pepperclaw finished grooming himself to spot the apprentices playing around. He sat up and curled his tail around his paws, or tried to. He watched Spiderpaw and Canarypaw battle each other. With a slight frown, he watched as Spiderpaw slowly looked to becoming too invested. Getting up, he walked over to them. Yet his frown turned back into a smile. He could see the smile that Spiderpaw through at she-cat. He hoped that the two would continue. At this rate, he wouldn't need to do battle training today. Mostly hunting lessons.
