One thing I'm questioning here, is when did Harespring and Smokey even meet? Or talk about ghosts of kittypets coming to visit their Twolegs? So Smokey can now see ghosts apparently... Maybe on patrol or while hunting? The horse place cats seem pretty friendly with warriors now. They could have ran into each other and stopped to talk. I'm thinking kittypets 'seeing' ghosts is pretty much the same way us humans are convinced we see ghosts.

So, we're sure that Larkwing is Sedgewhisker and Emberfoot's daughter, right? I still believe Kate just mistook her for one of the kits Sedgewhisker was pregnant with in BrS. Those two were cold with Larkwing here.

Something I thought of: how does WindClan know Breezepelt almost drowned in the tunnels? I guess Sedgekit really was boasting about what happened and they had to fess up

No one's supposed to know about that!

I wonder if it's Darktail, after all when Crowfeather first reported to Onestar I don't know if it was just me but he seemed initially pretty concerned at first or at least reflecting before Crowfeather said he could have been imagining things and I wouldn't be surprised if Onestar ignored the worry as well, considering the odds being so unlikely that he would make it all the way here. I mean, who doesn't think about their child they abandoned or gave up ages ago? But yeah I could be wrong but it just seemed like an abnormally tense moment for Onestar, but maybe that's just me thinking ahead or reading into the scene too much. Unfortunately, his tail is black. Since this is also directly after Omen of the Stars, Darktail is still alive.

As I'm thinking about it more the book is balancing the extremes a lot better than I was expecting. It's not coddling Crowfeather as a precious baby who did nothing wrong yet it's also not portraying him as literal kitty-satan who needs to go burn in the dark forest for his "horrific crimes". He's honestly what I expected and always believed him to be- a bitter, sad, and angry cat that has made a lot of mistakes and in his attempts to make things better has only made things worse and at this point has pretty much given up. We can see that yes there are slight hints that he doesn't like who he is and wants to change but he isn't- and probably hasn't- had much motivation to do so hence the rut he's in now and probably always has been. In fact, he's a lot like Breezepelt- he's not entirely at fault for the pain he's had to go through, yet it's almost entirely his fault for taking that pain and causing a negative effect on others because of it.
I'm just curious what Nightcloud and Breezepelt are going to do. Sure, Crowfeather might be able to finally change for the better but I think it'll be just as difficult if not more for Nightcloud and Breezepelt as well.

So, we're sure that Larkwing is Sedgewhisker and Emberfoot's daughter, right? I still believe Kate just mistook her for one of the kits Sedgewhisker was pregnant with in BrS. Those two were cold with Larkwing here. Dustpelt was cold towards Birchfall, and two of WindClan's casualties in the Great Battle involved Sedgewhisker's sisters. It doesn't surprise me that they'd be cold towards their own daughter, if only out of misguided anger and grief, even if it is wrong of them to do so.

I read the sample. That was, strange. I dislike how Onestar is talking to Crowfeather. He's a hypocrite, and really the whole thing with Breezepelt he says is like, a completely different point of view. Onestar seems to have forgotten that Breezepelt was not fighting for his clan during the great battle, he was fighting for the Dark Forest. Onestar just simplifies it as WindClan vs ThunderClan. Stupid. and... GHOST CATS?! How many dead concepts are warriors gonna play around with now? I already really dislike Tree's powers since they don't seem to be useful in the slightest, but Ghost cats? Why are the Clan cats even believing it? A kittypet told them about the ghosts, and these cats are confusing the ghost cats for StarClan cats. It's like just because they were told by a kittypet, they suddenly believe it. It just doesn't make any sense.
